People against piracy fail to realize that no, I can’t just ‘buy it.’ They stopped making DVDs and Blu-Rays. They’re barely offering digital copies for download. I am not spending money I could use for food or bills to pay for a subscription service just so I can always have access to a beloved piece of media. Especially not when the service will remove media on a whim without concern for how the loss of access to that piece will make its artistic conservation nigh impossible.

For example, I recently learned that Disney+ had an original film called Crater. It’s scifi, family friendly, and seems cool - I would love to buy it as a holiday gift for my little brother! But: it’s exclusive to D+ and THEY REMOVED IT LITERALLY MONTHS AFTER ITS RELEASE.

The ONLY way I can directly access this film is through piracy. The ONLY available ‘copies’ of this film are hosted on piracy websites. Disney will NEVER release it in theaters, or as something to buy, and it may NEVER return to the streaming service. It will be LOST because we aren’t allowed to purchase it for personal viewing. If I can’t pay to own it, I won’t pay for the privilege of losing it when corporate decides to put it in a vault.

So yes, I’m going to pirate and support piracy.

Memories Part 1/2

The best thing about OPLA is that they decided to focus on the friendship aspect of the crew and executed it perfectly.

They talk about their past, they share intimate fears, they are open about how much they care for each other - and that's so refreshing!

The scene where Usopp asked them if they think Kaya actually likes him? Him getting visibly hurt when Luffy mentions his dad?

The one when they send Zoro to talk to Luffy about Garp, because they can tell he's upset?

The whole sequence before and after Zoro fought Mihawk? Nami being concerned to the point of crying? Her reading him stories while he was unconscious and getting mad at Luffy for letting it happen? Her calling him a friend after she said she never had one?

The way Luffy was worrying about him so much that he refused to eat and asked Sanji to make Zoro's favorite food for when he wakes up? How hard it was for him to start talking and how easy it was to admit that he needs Zoro?

Sanji defending Nami even when all of the evidences were against her? Luffy proudly saying she's their friend?

That scene with Nojiko where Usopp calls Sanji the best cook?

The banter between Sanji and Zoro that starts from the moment Sanji first speaks and keeps going even as they fight back-to-back?

We get a glimpse of those things in anime and manga, but it's never this raw. The amount of hugging and touching and overall closeness? How Nami and Zoro get annoyed by it in the beginning and how it brings a more prominent smile the more it happens?

I'm so glad they pushed that narrative instead of trying to directly translate the plot for the 3rd time.

I need Jod and Ezra to have a heart-to-heart about being orphans of the Jedi. Meanwhile Thirty-Three and Hondo are pirating it up and drinking and singing shanties.

Before Zosan got together, Sanji would watch Zoro get flirted with pretty obviously at the bars the whole crew would stop at. Either Zoro would give in to the flirting for the free drinks or he'd slink off with the guy for a while up to whatever they were up to, but no matter what Sanji would be feeling this cocktail of emotions he couldn't identify. Seething in his seat at the guy hogging all of Zoro's attention and didn't understand why (yet).

Then like 3 years into their relationship, Sanji shoots up in bed and shouts "I WAS JEALOUS" and Zoro is groggily like "you hwha?" But Sanji can't talk right now, he's kind of having a crisis right now realizing he liked Zoro much earlier than he thought he originally did.

Um, me being chatty AND close ups of the boys below!!

This took, so long to finish. Months I tell ya. Not cause it was difficult per se, it was done with markers, pens, gel pens, and a bit of color pencil. But it was such a CHALLENGE!! I have never colored fire before so trying to figure it out and how it affects the clothes, skin, etc., has been so so neat!!! And drove me nuts!!! But it’s done, the boys are here!

I just, thought it would be nice to incorporate all of the brothers for this cause why not?? They are everything, they are the MOMENT, the blorbos!!!! Also something poetic here about being there for each other and brotherly bonds and love and all that wonderful jazz ✨

And now!! Those close ups I promised. Just mostly on their faces cause I’m proud of them (Ace’s gave me so much trouble for NO reason the beloved bastard 😭)

We all have a good laugh, and it's fun to mess with the antis, but I think we need to make a new rule. If you cross post, you lose the right to complain about ship wars. You are the problem, and everyone you try to rage bait has the right to come at you with both barrels. Anyone from your side who comes to your defense can catch all the strays, too. Are we agreed?

I don't know there's a lot of alcoholics in One Piece as to be expected pirates and all.

But something about Shanks and Rayleigh's drinking feels a little more like drinking to forget than your more run of the mill pirate alcoholism. It just feels like Something that the people that love them maybe worry about a little too much for it to be fun.

It's still funny to me that Huey, Dewey and Louie, the 10 years old boys that are able to explain any physics theory anytime and do very complicated calculations for their age don't know what a beer is. They are too precious for this world

Also, Scrooge's scottish roots are NOT taking Donald's easy drunkenness well (he only drank one (1!) beer). Just imagine how much his uncle drank (probably for free, somehow) since when he was 18 to the nowadays 157...
