Which Lord of the Rings characters say fuck:

Aragorn: definitely says fuck, and has to catch himself and tone it down when he becomes king

Boromir: yes. "They have a fucking cave troll."

None of the hobbits do; at least, not at first. Pippin picks up swears from Boromir, and Sam will swear under duress

Gimli: swears all the time, but mainly in Khuzdul. He definitely tries to teach Khuzdul swears to Legolas

Legolas: swears very rarely, and usually in Sindarin, which sounds so pretty that it goes unnoticed. Gimli often tries to goad him into swearing

Gandalf: knows all the swears, but doesn't say them

Galadriel: used to swear when she was younger, but that was thousands of years ago, and she no longer does.

Eowyn: swears constantly. every other word.

Faramir: swore once, and still regrets it.

Gollum: doesn't know any swears, but would say them if he did.

in Fellowship of the Ring, Boromir carries his shield the entire time, symbolizing his role as a protector. he's always looking out for the hobbits and is often one of the first to speak up on their behalf (Caradhras, and after Gandalf's death, for example). however, he leaves his shield before confronting Frodo when he is under the influence of the Ring, essentially abandoning his role as a protector and attacking Frodo (it's also interesting to note that the only time he doesn't have his shield is when he is not himself). when he is back to being himself, he still doesn't have his shield, but he uses himself as a shield to protect Merry and Pippin, back to his role as a protector (causing his death). anyway i'm just thinking about how Boromir's shield is representative of him and his role in the Fellowship.

A little AU based on a dream I had recently in which the Fellowship teamed up with the Winnie the Pooh characters to escape a natural disaster, and when it was over they all moved into a house together with a massive stockpile of food :) Here's just a few of their interactions; I'll probably do more sketches of the AU if people are interested and if I feel inspired to (which I definitely have more ideas for it!) Anyway I just remember that they were all best buds in the dream and it was super cute so I wanted to do something with it <3

Somebody give me the rights to the LOTR cinematic productions so I can create a coming of age dramedy taking place during the seventeen years between Bilbo's 111th birthday party and Frodo leaving the Shire. I'd call it "The Shire Seventeen". It would not only include the Conspiracy as a backdrop but also a bunch of the development and growing up that was probably done within those seventeen years, that is entirely unrelated to the Ring.

It's a whole seventeen years worth of low-stakes hobbit Shire drama and shenanigans, guys-- I need that cozy comedy content.

There was a stream at the foot of the hill. They filled their bottles and the small camping kettle at a little fall where the water fell a few feet over an outcrop of grey stone. sometimes i think about how for the entire journey, boromir was so protective of the hobbits, especially merry and pippin, and clearly cared for them immensely. and then when he was under the influence of the ring he said to frodo, "curse you, and all the halflings." then after that, when frodo and the ring were gone, after he was back to being himself, he protected merry and pippin with his life. it just shows how much he was not himself when the ring was corrupting him, and how the corruption didn't really show his true feelings. and it makes me SO emotional
