Tommy doesn't like all the same things that Ghostbur likes. Ghostbur likes clouds, and Tommy likes stars. Ghostbur likes blue, and Tommy likes red. Ghostbur likes soft grass and delicate flowers, and Tommy likes dirt and dandelions. They're actually quite different from each other, which is why Ghostbur decided to make a list; he didn't want to accidentally bring Tommy things that he didn't like, such as forget-me-nots or a sweater. Those are things that Ghostbur likes, not Tommy.

Ghostbur walks along the dirt path littered with leaves and acorns, and every couple steps he comes across a twig or a large pebble. He doesn't kick those, like other people would have; they're not bothering anybody, and Ghostbur can't help but feel a little cruel about the idea of slamming his boot into them. He'll leave them be, just as they are. He feels much better about that idea.

Tommy goes quiet for a second or two. "This isn't a vacation, Ghostbur. And that's not me being a pessimist."

Ghostbur turns to glance at him, eyes narrowed doubtfully. "But Dream said it was a vacation."

"Yeah, well Dream is a liar. He also wears a green hoodie."

"I like his green hoodie."

"It's ugly."

"I like it."

"It's so ugly."

Ghostbur purses his lips, turning back to the beach. "Oh."

"It's uglier than baby frogs. Have you ever seen baby frogs, Ghostbur?"

"Tadpoles? Oh yes, I've seen lots of those!"

"Huh. Well, Dream's hoodie is uglier than them. Just so you know."

"Okay!"

After a minute, Niki walks slowly forward, closing the short distance between them. She reaches her hand out, gently resting her hand on Wilbur's shoulder. It's delicate. It's agonizing. He doesn't want her here. 

Wilbur leans a little more towards her touch. Niki's breath catches. "Wil."

Wilbur brightens, eyes widening. "Yeah! Every time I get bigger, my heart will get bigger, which means that I can fit more love inside it! That means that the bigger I get, and the bigger you get, the more I'll love you!"

Wilbur grins. "Niki Nihachu, I crave adventure."

"Tommy, please shut up." Wilbur comes to a halt, turning around. Tommy stalks forward, stumbling through the heavy snow. His facial expression is one of utter misery. "Look, I'll wait for you to catch up, but then you need to walk with me, okay? Keep pace with your big brother Wilbur."

Tommy scowls. "I thought you said that made you cry."

"What made me cry?"

"Saying you're my brother."

Wilbur pauses. He wipes at his nose with his glove. "Well, when you say it. When I say it it's fine."

Tommy grumbles. "I hate you."

"Come on, Tommy. Hurry up, come on! You can do it!"

Tommy stares down at his feet. He never wears socks to bed, because only a complete idiot would do that, or perhaps someone who's really cold and insecure. Tommy's the opposite: he's warm and solid, like a statue except more colorful.

Charlie gasps. "Oh yes, I remember that room, Quackity! There's a lot of buttons in there!"

Wilbur swears under his breath, but Quackity doesn't pay him any mind. "Yes, you're- that's right, there are a lot of buttons in there, but listen—do not press any buttons unless I tell you to."

"Aw man. I wanted to press a button, Quackity."

"Do not press any buttons."

Charlie heaves a sigh. "Oh, alright."

Tommy brings the mug to his lips, tipping it ever so slightly—it's filled to the brim, so tilting it even a bit more would cause it to spill—and letting the warm drink fill his mouth. Warm... more like hot. Really hot. So hot that it burns his tongue a little bit, which hurts but not enough to feel bad. It's a good hurt. A better hurt than on Exile, at least. None of those hurts were ever good, because everything was cold and cold hurts are never fun. 

Warm hurts are good, though. Tommy swallows the tea and takes another tiny sip.

Before Wilbur can respond, she blinks, looking up at him. "He would buy me stuffed animals a lot, but pretty much only bunnies. Do you know what bunnies are?"

"Bun- rabbits? Yes, I know what they are." Wilbur takes another inhale of cigarette smoke, resisting the urge to narrow his eyes. What sort of person doesn't know what rabbits are?

"Oh. You looked like the kind of person who doesn't know a lot about animals." The girl sighs deeply. "I guess I was wrong."

This time it's Wilbur's turn to stare. "Wh-"

Instead, he wipes his face with his arm, smearing away any unshed tears gathered in his eyes. His sweater is warm. That's nice. Ghostbur brings his other arm up, burying his nose into the yellow wool and breathing in the scent. In and out. It smells like a forest, and sheep, and something slightly sweet. It smells very nice.

Ghostbur doesn't want to cry anymore.

Witness progress report: between fleshing out my outline and actually writing parts of certain chapters, I am now at the point where this song makes perfect sense as a thematic fit. Please welcome to the OSSAS playlist stage:

crosses one game off my list. stares at the dozens of others beneath it. big sigh. anyways heres some games i highly recommend:

a short hike: in their words, "a little exploration game about hiking up a mountain." it rewards exploration. i went into it thinking it'd be like, a twenty minute experience? i played for at least an hour or two. very cute, very low stakes emotionally. i really enjoyed the graphics and characters :]

co-open: this game is genuinely the cutest fuckign thing i've ever played. you're a kid going to the store on your own for the first time. lotta queer characters. so much to explore. at first you're like "woah store" and then you somehow end up in the vents and then you're on the roof?? there is so much to this game. i love it. it's so cute. maybe an hour or two or three in playtime.

everhood: i will admit. i have not finished this game. however. it is so stylish. the graphics are so bright. the characters are WILD. the music goes SO HARD. the combat and gameplay is entirely centered around the music. they describe it as a "psychedelic musical bullet hell" and tbh that is literally it. the puzzles aren't too hard. i haven't finished it only because it feels, to me, like it doesn't really... tell you where to go? i get lost very easily if i'm not being funneled in a particular direction when it comes to these kinds of games, ones that aren't necessarily meant to be open-world. that being said. everhood goes fucking hard. play it. it slaps. i need to finish it. i keep fuckign thinking about it its that good.

dredge: this isn't like, an obscure indie pick. but dredge is so good. the story left me wanting a little more, but the gameplay is fun, the graphics are gorgeous (the style is so nice), there are some real good scares, and tbh there is nothing better than a good fishing game. it mixes exploration and inventory management really well! and i thoroughly enjoyed exploring every inch of the game and completing all the side quests i could. also theres a dog and you can pet it.

eronoctosis: put yourself together: this game is about being TRANS and DYSPHORIA and SEX!!!! it's a two-player game but it's free!! (there's a paid dlc you can get too but the base game is free) (the paid dlc includes sexual content, the base game does not). eronoctosis was really fun. my boyfriend and i were so bad at it at first (hi babe if ur reading this. we should get the dlc i wanna play this with u again). but once we got into the swing of things it was honestly really fun. the scares are REALLY good even when you know what you're doing. really makes you dread going around corners <3

two little bonuses are inbento and sudocats. it's literally just. a puzzle game. and sudoku. but in my defense. both games include cats. which makes them cute. very nice little experiences :]

These designs were the most fun I've done thus far, ESPECIALLY Koro-Sensei. Maybe I should draw him in pants more often...

Koro-Sensei - The boss, currently the most wanted man in Japan. Recently though he lost someone very important to him and, in attempting to carry out her final wishes, is attempting to make amends. Now his gang is basically a non-profit. They clean up garbage off the streets, plant flowers in public gardens, help people carry their groceries home, play vigilante at night in areas with low police density, and are all and all upright citizens when you ignore all the crimes of the past. The scar over his eye is fake, he draws it on himself every morning.

Karma - Koro-Sensei's loyal right hand, was kicked out of junior high for picking fights and picked up by Koro-Sensei for his brilliant mind and ruthlessness. He swears he'll follow Koro-Sensei anywhere, and while he thinks this whole cleaning up the neighborhood is stupid and pointless, he'll keep that promise. He still itches to fight, and thus is usually on vigilante patrol. In junior high he never hit anyone who didn't already have it coming, and he is actually rather relieved to be living by those morals again. Koro-Sensei also signed Karma's legal documents to get him back into school, though now he's stuck in E-Class.

Emile - Runs a No Questions Clinic in the neighborhood Koro-Sensei's gang run around in, and is their main source of medical aid. He asks no questions and doesn't answer to cops, making him the perfect place for the mob to turn to when they need help. The only patient to ever pass in his hospital was Aguri, he still dwells on what he could have done better that might of saved her. Sense Koro-Sensei went clean he's had less patients, which he doesn't mind. Koro-Sensei still drops by to chat, and invites him out to local places to eat for fun often.

Nagisa - A student of class 3-E, he's also an amateur detective on the side. He'd been keeping track of the local Mafia for a while now sense suspecting his teacher, Aguri, of somehow having a connection to them. Sense she disappeared he's been hot on the case, along side her little sister, Akari, searching for answers. Karma purposefully avoids Nagisa's questions, and tells him to ask the Boss himself what happened. Koro-Sensei would answer Nagisa and Akari truthfully, but they just can't ever seem to catch him to ask.

Karasuma - Local Police, he's been working his ass off for YEARS now trying to catch Koro-Sensei to put him away for good, just for the bastard to suddenly scrub himself clean of Mafia activity and start acting all Good and Pure by using his wealth to clean up the neighborhood. Something shady is happening, Karasuma is sure of it, and he will not let it stand. He's constantly antagonizing Koro-Sensei, trying to find anything wrong in his actions to bring him in. It never works, and Koro-Sensei walks every time...

Aaaah I've never drawn Karma or Nagisa before so this was fun!!! Loyal Right hand didn't suit me, but Karma for sure follows Koro-Sensei around like a lovesick puppy <3

The original idea was to split the class between Mafia and Police, but they're just kids... They shouldn't be involved in such things... So the majority of them are just regular Class E students. Who's their teacher sense Aguri is still dead this AU? A handful of various Volunteers from Koro-Sensei's gang of course! Various assassins from canon who graciously give their time to teach Aguri's kids best they can. Koro-Sensei's just too busy to do so himself.
