Today was productive for me. Before I sleep I did some of my schoolworks. I woke up with the lights still on, my ipad with no battery, and my phone on low battery.
I remove the bed sheet and pillow case before I went down to charge my phone. I get all my remaining laundry and got out of my room to wash them. I brush my teeth and wash my face, then I prepare my breakfast. I reheat the left-over bake mac made by my godfather. It was so good, my favorite part was the cheese, my least favorite was the pineapple. For me, it didn’t really fit together. I’m glad that the left-over didn’t have one. I made iced coffee as usual and bring it inside my room.
Before my cousin leave for voter’s registration, he caught a rat in his room. Our house is rat infested, its crazy. I hope my room doesn’t have one. I try to clean my room every now and then but today I didn’t. My cousin went out with his mom and my ninong. Me and my grandparents took care of my baby cousin. Today, her cries are often. I have to carry her so she stop crying. It makes me feel better when she stop. It feels like I have the power of warmth of a mother. idk. It’s sweet but when she keeps crying I get offended lmao. She gets so heavy, I think I’m going to have a muscle by carrying her.
When her father arrived and my grandmother took over taking care of her I went out to dry my laundry. After that I went up my room to scroll and watch videos on youtube.
Today was another rainy day. The sun has’t come out yet. Everytime I wake up from my sleep it feels too early or it feels like I just had an afternoon sleep, The room was cold all day, I rarely opened my electricfan. In my laptop I watched more byler edits and get so happy. Everytime I realized all the schoolworks I have to do, I star panicking. I finished one task for A&D so I can show up to our meeting without feeling the guilt. I thought I made one argument already but turns out I didn’t get to finished it. Before attending the meeting, I ate dinner. I had menudo (?), rice, and hotdog as my meal. I don’t if I ate a lot but I got really full.
The meeting really helped me to understand what I should have done, I am hoping that I can search more arguments or proposal for the political aspects. Honestly, I find doing schoolworks exciting but at the same it is boring. There’s more interesting thing to do than schoolworks but maybe if I prioritize school, I’ll find it more exciting.
After the meeting I went to sleep because according to my friend Ian, sleeping in the afternoon will help me stay up late. Which I need to do because I’m more productive in the evening. I had 2 hours of sleep and the first thing I thought was buying coffee near our house. It was worth 39 pesos for Caramel Latte, and I treat my cousin as 49 pesos worth of cookies and cream milk tea. I saw my old classmate and it was awkward but he was nice. There are a lot of people in the cafe, good for them.
Writing this journal is productive. I wish I can do it everyday. I have a hard time remembering stuff. I’m going to clean the glasses that are still in my room. They are here because they are fragile and only I can clean it. I’m going to brush my teeth as well. I am hoping I wont meet any rat along the way,
Thank you for today !
I’ll be supporting Le Sserafim until they get old.

HEY, HEDGIE SQUAD! SO, THIS IS A STORY I HAD ON MY WATTPAD, AND IT’S A BIT OLD, so it’s going to be a bit retarded, because that’s how I was a few years ago. Anyways, hope you like it! (THIS STORY BELONGS TO Lyrazehedgieboiii, A.K.A Lyra_ze_hedgie on Wattpad {don’t check it out})
So, dis story is gonna be different. Usually, it's a third person POV, but this is going to be character's point of view. SEGA owns the characters, I do not! And before I forget, let's bring the age list! Read this so you understand.
Amy: 13
Sonic: 16
Knuckles: 16
Silver: 16
Tails: 12
(Amy's POV)
I was just sitting on my couch, looking up ideas on how to catch my dear Sonic. These days, I've been kind of easy on the chasing, I mean, I wouldn't even look good running after Sonic like a  lovesick fan girl. That's right! I'm actually starting to feel a little self-conscious these days, and I asked Rouge about it, and she said it was perfectly normal! I believe her, since she was the one who told me to lay off chasing him, he ain't worth it. Oh. But he is. Anyways, back to what I was doin'. I ran out of ideas on how to get Sonikku to fall for me. When in doubt, look it up on Google. I turned off my iPad, and decided to check the mail.
"Let's see... Fan mail, more fan mail, a stack of fan-mail, and a package..." It's awfully strange, because I never ordered anything. I looked at the receiver's address. It was addressed to me, and it has my name on it. I went back inside, and put my fan mail in my fan mail closet (in case I'm having a bad day, I read fan letters! :D) and walked to my kitchen, with the package. I opened it, and I couldn't believe it. It couldn't be. It was Pocky Sticks! Wait, but there's a catch. It's Chili-dog flavored?! I rummaged through the package, incase there was a letter. And there was! Thank chaos! I read it, surprised with what it said-
Dear Amy Rose
I'm Mia, the CEO of Pocky Sticks®️and I'm a huge fan of you! I love you, and Sonic, and I want you two to be together. So we made a limited edition, chili-dog flavored Pocky! All you have to do, is play the Pocky game with him. If you don't know how to play, I'll explain it to you-
Well, of course I know how to play! So I've seen people do it! Also, does this woman not know that I'm still innocent? I haven't even lost my first kiss yet! But, I do want to lose my first kiss to Sonic, so I'll play. I call Tails' since I know Sonic won't pick up.
Tails: Hey Amy! Do you need anything?
Amy: Hi, Tails! Actually, yes. Is Sonic at your place? Because if I call him, I know he won't pick up.
Tails: Oh he is. Hold on a second... (He yells out Sonic's name)
Muffled idiot's voice in Background: What?
Tails: Amy's asking if your here!
Muffled idiot's voice in Background: So? Do I have to answer her? Yeesh.
Amy: Tails, put the phone on speaker mode.
*Said Fox does what he was told*
Amy: hem hem. SONIC, YOU IDIOTIC PINEAPPLE, COME HERE AND ANSWER THE PHONE OR I WILL CONTINUE TO EAR RAPE YOU. AND IF YOU HANG UP, I'LL COME OVER AND EAR RAPE YOU. IF YOU RUN OFF, I WILL CALL YOU AN IDIOTIC HOE FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE.
Muffled idiot's voice in Background: Since when did she learn to cuss?!
Amy: Sonic, what I just said weren't cuss words. I can say cuss words, if you'd like. Now, if you want me to stop, come over to my house, I got something you might like. I got it in the mail.
That idiot!
Muffled hoe's voice in Background: ... fine...
Amy: Yay!  I hung up, and went the door.
(Sonic's POV)
Frick. I have to go to Amy's house. I mean, I like her, as in I have a crush in her, but her plans to catch me can get deadly. I ran over to her house, and right on cue, she opened the door. She welcomed me in, and signaled me to go to the kitchen. So I did. She quickly took something off the kitchen island, and hid it behind her back. For a second I thought it might have been a s..e..x. toy, but Ames is way too young to play with one.
"So, I got this thing in the mail, and it said that you might like it. Oh, who am I kidding, of course you'll like it!" She giggled. Her giggles are making me feel something, something inside. Strange... Anyways, she pulls out what she hid. And it was... Pocky Sticks. What's so special about them? "I know what you're thinking. What so special about Pocky?" Frick, she read my mind! "But... They. Are. Chili Dog flavored!" My ears perked up. Did she say chili dog?!
"Ames, be a good girl, and give me the pocky.~" I said, making my voice soothing enough so she swoons over me.
"Nuh , uh, uh! You have to follow my rules, and play something with me."
     "Alright."
"Have you heard of the Pocky game?"
   "Not really..."
"I'll explain. I will have 1/6 of the Pocky stick in my mouth. We both have to bite as much of the Pocky stick as we can. And..-" Amy trailed off. I have a feeling she was gonna say something else.
"And?" I said. I was starting to get impatient.
"N-nothing. Nothing at all." Amy said nervously. She was blushing. She is so cute! Fuck, did I just say that?! "Let's begin, shall we?" Amy asked. She stuck the icing part out, and put it in her mouth. I chomped in the other side, and the closer I got to Amy's face, the more I bit into it, the more I felt my face heat up. I bit the stick one more time, and felt that our noses were touching. I thought for a minute, until an idea came.
I'll just kiss Amy, and by reflex, or something, she'll faint for a minute or two, and I'll win. I bit, and made our lips touch. My tongue demanded entrance, and she happily did so. I know it sounds disgusting, but the part of the pocky that was touching Amy's lips was visible, so I broke it, and I held on to Amy's body while smuggling a kiss. Her lips were very soft. Out of nowhere, her body felt limp. She looked like she was in so much pleasure, and was blushing like crazy. She was also sweating, oof. I didn't screw her, I just kissed her, DAMMIT. I ran to Tails' house since I lived there, and slowly tried to make my way upstairs, until...
"Ahem." Tails voice alarmed me. Knucklehead and Mr. Weed Plant were also here. Great. Just what I need. They all looked at what I was holding.
    "Guys, I can explain this-"
"Sanic, you and Amy are too young to screw. I mean, you are an alright age, but Amy, she's 13 for crying out loud!" Silver said. Boi, whenever you're with Blaze, you always try and look assets that she barely has.
"Yeah, Sonic, at least wait a few years, we know you like Amy, but she can't become a mother."
"YOU IDIOTS. LISTEN TO MEEEEEE. Amy tried to make me kiss her, and-"
"You became horny and attempted to screw her."
"No. I kissed her a bit, and she fainted.
"Yeaaaahhh, I'm not buying that." Knuckles said. You idiot, you can't even tell the difference between left and right.
"Anyways, Imma go put her to bed."
"Sonic," Tails stopped me. "Are you telling the truth? And plus, I don't want you hooking up with her in here." Tails is 12, and he's had the birds and bees shit talk.
"Tails, I don't sleep with girls, or make love to them. Especially not to someone who is finally in her teen years. I'll wait until she's old enough." Fuhk. I said the last part out loud. "I mean, I-I w- NEVERMIND!!" I stormed off to my room, and carefully put rest Amy on to the bed. Her hands were in her pockets. I was pretty sure it wasn't like that when I picked her up. I put my hand in her pocket, and damn her hands felt warm. It was a paper, from the CEO of Pocky. So this is what this is all about. Amy's gonna be so screwed once she wakes up!
*internal screaming*

Note
mom can you write something about a target adventure with haz? cause his story is inspiring me
what a bean
- So you notice you’re perilously low on some necessities
- Like deodorant, contact solution, and Cheez-its
- (they’re a necessity don’t @ me)
- So you ask Harrison to tag along
- it’s still early on in your relationship and he wants to spend as much time with you as possible so he agrees
- Your first stop is, of course, the Dollar Spot
- You learn that the name of it is one of the weird hills Harrison has chosen to die on
- “Not everything here is a dollar, why do they even call it that?”
- “It’s just a name, babe”
- “But it’s misleading”
- “Ooh, Haz, look, pineapple-shaped salt and pepper shakers!”
- And his rant ends, at least for now
- “Babe, look at this dress! I need this dress”
- Harrison scoffs: “You bloody do not”
- “Yes, I do! It looks so comfy, it would look perfect with those sandals I bought the other day, and - oooh! POCKETS!!”
- Harrison just smiles fondly at you as you gleefully put it in the cart
- It’s an argument he knows he won’t win, plus you just look so happy
- You then introduce Harrison to one of your favorite games: Hit the clearance sections of each clothing department to find the most ridiculous thing you can
- Harrison wins with his men’s 3xl button-down rainbow-patterned shirt
- (quick side note: This is an actual item I found and tried to convince Ben to buy despite the fact he does not wear a 3xl)
- (he didn’t buy it)
- (probably for the best)
- He wants to poke around the electronics department for awhile so you oblige (after all he came to Target with you in the first place)
- He finds a new case for his iPad while you peruse phone cases
- “I love this one,” you say as you hold up a white case with a sunflower print, “but I learned the hard way once I can’t have anything but an Otterbox”
- Harrison laughs. “Fun fact, uh, Tom refuses to put a case on his phone”
- You just stare at Harrison, goggle-eyed
- “yeah, I don’t know how he can go through life with that kind of stress either”
- You just shrug and say, “wish I’d known that BEFORE his birthday, then I would’ve gotten him an Otterbox”
- “He liked what you got him, though. You know you didn’t even have to get him anything, but I have to tell you it was really cool of you to buy my best friend a gift”
- You just smile as your face grows warmer
- “Let’s go check out the camping stuff,” Harrison says. “D’you like camping?”
- “My idea of roughing it is a motel without wi-fi”
- Harrison laughs - “Okay, not the outdoorsy type, no problem”
- “But for you?” you add quickly. “You, I could find a way to manage”
- It’s Harrison’s turn to grin shyly as you head over to sporting goods
- Harrison selects a new air mattress and a portable hammock before you move on to the grocery section
- “Hey, babe, watch this” Harrison says
- All you can do is laugh as he runs down the aisle with the cart, hopping onto the bar below the handle as he rides it as far as it will take him
- “You’re such an idiot”
- “But you love me,” he says, flashing you a cheeky grin
- It’s not the first time you’ve told each other you loved them, but it still makes your heart flutter
- “Yes, unfortunately”
- You select your snacks and make a quick swing through HBA for your deodorant and contact solution before going to checkouts
- “Hey, Haz. Starbucks,” you say, pointing. “Want a coffee? It’s on me”
- “I’d love that”
- After you pay for your items, you put the cart back and go to the in-store Starbucks, where you order your coffees and sit at a table near the window
- “Thanks for coming with me today, Harrison. This would have been an awfully boring errand otherwise”
- Harrison smiles, reaching for your hand across the table
- “Glad I could spend the time with you”
- ugh this sounds awesome
- did I miss the sign-up sheet for this?

Yesterday wasn't our finest day of the trip. We said goodbye to the lovely Steph and Phil (who drove us to Hirafu in the morning) and caught a bus over to New Chitose Airport.  Checked in and had a nice time being given free samples in the food court- cake and cheesecake and steamed donut. We bought something that looked like a croquette and was labelled as cheese but turned out to be a fishcake yuck. Flew to Tokyo Narita and were surprisingly efficient getting out of the airport and on to a bus to the city centre. Had a fair walk from Tokyo station to the Wise Owl Hostel, and struggled a bit under the weight of our bags that we've happily avoided hauling around for two weeks.
The hostel (where we are staying until boxing day) is a good one, with a live owl in reception, a free drink in the bar downstairs every night, and pleasingly private upstairs bunks where we can talk to each other but are screened from everyone else.
By this time it was approaching 5pm and we had only had some toast and some accidental fish, so we head out to the neighbouring area of Ningyocho in search of food. We popped in to Suitengu shrine which was quiet and pleasant, we felt a little awkward not knowing any shrine etiquette but didn't get shouted at or thrown out so I guess it was all ok. We walked around for ages trying to decipher food menus - hardly any had English translations and those that did didn't have any prices. We settled on a café that had a menu handwritten in English but no prices, and tried in vain to match the Hiragana characters with the real menu. Joey ended up with stir fried vegetables and Sam with the smallest chicken wings ever. Not terrible, but not enough food given how hungry we were and way more expensive than we'd have liked. Most of the place was taken up with a very exuberant office party which was entertaining.
We left feeling still hungry and walked home a different way keeping our eyes peeled for takeaway pizza to top us up. No luck until a bar/restaurant just round the corner from the hostel where we smugly shared a tasty pizza. Were feeling well fed and happy until we asked for the bill and there was a hidden service charge that amounted to more than the actual pizza. Have made a mental note to check for charges everywhere we go from now on. Feeling grumpy and at odds with Tokyo, we sidled back to the hostel and hid from the world.
Today, Tokyo has redeemed itself! We've spent the day exploring Shibuya, Harajuku and Shinjuku, filling up on sights, Japanese culture and food.
First thing we took a Ginza line subway to Shibuya - we've bought a 72 hour pass that works on the main subway and metro lines, but not the JR or other privately owned lines. It's all a bit confusing. Luckily they say the station names in English and all the stops are numbered so navigating the lines isn't toooo difficult. The tricky bit is emerging from the right station exit and working out where on earth you want to be on the surface. Every subway station seems to be a maze of underground tunnels.
Luckily this time our platform was right by the Tokyu department store entrance, so we headed to the basement foodcourt in search of breakfast. We were disappointed by the lack of free samples promised to us by the guidebook, but found an enticing bakery and bought a huge warm sweet walnut bread. We found our way the surface and sat on the side of the street looking out over the Shibuya pedestrian scramble, the famous junction crisscrossed by up to several thousand people in each wave. We saw a fleet of Mario style go-karts go by on their Tokyo tour. Nearby we visited the statue of Hachiko, the faithful dog who waited every day for his master at Shibuya station, even nine years after the man's death. We had a little wander up Center-gai shopping street, and then over to the new and shiny Hikarie department store. We browsed the many floors of homewares and handbags up to an exhibition space on the top floor. This housed an unexpected display of puppets, as well as some slightly scary craft pop up stores. Back down in the basement, we were yet again denied any free tasters in the foodcourt.
Time was marching on so we hopped on a subway up to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government building west of Shinjuku. We visited the observation deck on the 45th floor and a volunteer guide showed us the sights. It was a clear sunny day so we had great views of the city, but unfortunately Mt Fuji was hiding in a wreath of cloud. The gift shop had our names in Japanese characters. Back down on the second floor we're pleased to see climbing and surfing are now Olympic sports but sad squash still isn't.
Walked back to Shinjuku. It's weird how much walking is in underground tunnels, we intended to walk at street level but kept somehow finding ourselves underground again. Had lunch at burger bar round the corner from the Robot Café, which has a cool looking evening show but way too expensive for us. We soaked up the bright lights and buzzing atmosphere of Shinjuku, visited a games arcade with a Star Wars game that had enough controls to be a spaceship, and checked 7 storey electronics stores for fitbit and camera accessories (with no luck).
Next we walked down to Meiji temple through a large quiet forested area, quite a contrast from the city beyond. We read some prayers on the prayer wall, watched someone important bang on a big drum, and browsed the amulets available for sale. The matrimonial bliss amulet was expensive so we'll just have to hope we find it anyway. You can buy "divine protection” available at three different levels, reminiscent of budget insurance deals.
Walking out of Meiji towards the south we reached Harajuku, an area known for youth fashion, cosplay, anime, clothing brands of varying expense and second hand shops. By this point it was dark and the avenues of trees at the side of the road were illuminated with zillions of Christmas lights. We visited Condomania (a speciality condom shop, of course), a very extravagant costume shop that was peppered with "no photos” signs, and a thrift shop selling battered old Levis for literally thousands of pounds.
At the train station on the way back to Shinjuku we were offered a free sample of some sort of biscuit/cake that was actually dried fish. We now appreciate the need to always carry some chocolate in case a post-accidental-fish-cleanse is needed. We went to the Hanazono shrine all lit up for the evening, and then wandered round some of the famous nightlife areas...
The Golden Gai is an area of hundred of tiny bars, mostly only big enough for 3 or four guests. Between the high service charges, the lack of English translations, and the intimidating well dressed men (likely Yakuza) hanging about, we kept ourselves outside and just enjoyed the ramshackle streets.
Kabuchiko is a somewhat seedy area, with bars having pictures of girls outside as if on a menu, and plenty of "love hotels” offering rooms to rent by the hour or the night.
Omoide Yokocho (aka piss alley from the days before they installed public toilets) was reminiscent of the Golden Gai with tiny establishments and crisscrossing alleyways, but here every bar was grilling skewers of chicken or fish to serve with their sake. It made for a smoky atmosphere bubbling with chatter and calls inviting tourists in to pay the no doubt huge charges. Another great place to wander round while staying safely outdoors.
We caught the subway back to Shibuya where we started the day, and queued up for seats at a conveyor-belt sushi bar called Uobei. We ordered bits and pieces off our respective ipads and it swooped up in front of us. Very exciting and there were even some veggie plates, although Joey had to scrape some cod roe off an udon dish. Sam was slurping up sashimi like a pro, and we finished the meal with tasty pineapple slices. Went to take a few more photos of the pedestrian scramble, then headed for home and a free sake in the hostel bar.

Kalbi (Korean BBQ Short Ribs)
It’s grilling season, and mark my words: these thinly-sliced, marinated Korean BBQ short ribs (also known as kalbi or galbi) will be the hit of your summer cookouts. Best of all, this tender and flavorful kalbi recipe is paleo, Whole30-friendly, and amazingly simple to throw together!
What’s Kalbi?
Kalbi (or galbi) is the Korean word for rib. In the culinary context, it refers to one of my favorite Korean grilled dishes from my pre-paleo days: sweet and savory thin strips of short ribs that are quickly cooked on a hot grill. Traditionally, the marinade is made with a sweetened soy sauce, so once I went paleo, I naturally assumed my kalbi-munching days were over.
Luckily, I was wrong!
What cut of meat do I use for kalbi?
For this recipe, it’s traditional to use beef short ribs, laterally-cut against the grain (a.k.a flanken-style). These long strips are usually about ½-inch thick, and include three or four thin cross-sections of rib bones. In Korean markets, these ribs can typically be found in the cold case by the butcher counter, and they’re usually labeled, “LA galbi.” No Korean market nearby? Call your local butcher to see if they’ll cut Korean-style short ribs for you.
Many of my Korean pals (and their moms) have advised me to soak, rinse, and pat dry the LA galbi before marinating them to get rid of bone fragments. It’s totally up to you if you decide to do so, but I’ve found that it does make the resulting short ribs less gritty.
All-Purpose Stir-Fry Sauce to the rescue!
You know how I keep telling you that my All-Purpose Stir-Fry Sauce is super versatile and can be used in countless recipes and cooking methods? (My ever-growing list of recipes utilizing All-Purpose Stir-Fry Sauce can be found here.) Well, it also makes an amazing marinade for anything you want to throw on the grill or in the oven—like this Paleo Kalbi!
My Paleo Kalbi is Whole30-friendly, too!
My All-Purpose Stir-Fry Sauce balances umami, tang, and natural sweetness, so it’s already the perfect base for a Whole30-friendly marinade. To punch up the flavors even more, I’ve added extra ginger, scallions, and toasted sesame oil. There’s absolutely no need for added badness to make this dish taste great!
Kiwi is the secret to tender kalbi
Have you noticed that sometimes when you eat kalbi, it can still be chewy and tough even though it it’s been cut thinly and against the grain? By nature, short ribs are a tough cut of beef. One of the secrets I learned from my Korean pals is to add some fresh kiwi to the marinade because kiwi fruit (similar to pineapple, papaya and ginger) contains an enzyme that breaks down protein and naturally tenderizes the meat. The key is to marinate the meat long enough (at least 4 hours) but not too long or the meat becomes mushy. So beware: don’t marinate your short ribs for more than 24 hours!
What if I can’t find LA galbi?
When you can’t find LA galbi (flanken-style short ribs), an alternative is to buy regular English-cut short ribs, de-bone them, and cut them into thin strips yourself. That’s a pain, though. An easier option? Buy tougher steak cuts, like flank, skirt, or hanger, and marinate them for 4 to 8 hours to make amazing Korean-style grilled steaks.
If you’re cooking tender protein cuts (e.g. rib eye, NY strip, filet migon, chicken, pork tenderloin, shrimp, etc.), you can still use the marinade for Paleo Kalbi, but leave out the kiwi fruit. The fresh ginger can also make the meat mushy, so you can leave it out of the marinade or only marinate for up to 8 hours maximum.
How do you eat kalbi?
It’s really up to you! I like to serve kalbi with plates of butter lettuce leaves, Simple Cauliflower Rice, and kimchi. I use kitchen shears to cut the grilled meat into bite-size pieces and let everyone assemble their own lettuce wraps. Personally, I like to add some grilled short rib, cauliflower rice, and kimchi—and chow down!
How do you store the leftovers?
You can store the leftovers in the fridge for up to four days or freeze them for up to 4 months. I like to cut up the leftover kalbi to add to Kimchi Cauliflower Fried Rice or a tasty Asian-inspired salad (with All-Purpose Stir-Fry Sauce as the salad dressing).
Ready to make my Whole30-friendly Paleo Kalbi?
Serves 6
Ingredients:
Short ribs
4 pounds Korean-style short ribs (LA galbi or flanken-style)
1 kiwi, peeled and coarsely chopped
4 garlic cloves, minced
2 scallions, coarsely chopped
1 tablespoon minced fresh ginger
1 cup All-Purpose Stir-Fry Sauce
2 teaspoons toasted sesame oil
Garnish
2 scallions, thinly sliced
2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds
1 head butter lettuce
Equipment:
Large bowl
Measuring cups
Measuring spoons
Chef’s knife
Cutting board
Blender or food processor
Kitchen shears
Method:
Soak the short ribs in cold water for fifteen minutes. Rinse the ribs of any small bone fragments and use paper towels to pat the short ribs dry before setting aside. (You can skip this step, but I think it helps reduce any grittiness.)
In a high powered blender, combine the kiwi, garlic, scallions, and ginger.
Pour in the All-Purpose Stir-Fry Sauce and toasted sesame oil.
Blitz until smooth.
Pour the marinade over the ribs and toss well to coat. Cover the container and marinate the short ribs for at least 4 hours and up to 24 hours.
When you’re ready to cook the ribs, you have a few options:
If you’re cooking the kalbi on the grill, heat your gas or charcoal grill to medium-high. Throw the short ribs on the grill…
…and cook about 3 to 4 minutes per side or until your desired doneness is reached.
No grill? Heat the broiler on high and arrange the top oven rack so that it’s 6 inches from the heating element. Arrange the kalbi in a single layer on top of a stainless steel wire rack in a rimmed baking sheet and pop them under the broiler. Cook for about 3 to 4 minutes per side or until you reach the desired doneness.
Garnish with thinly sliced scallions and toasted sesame seeds.
Serve whole grilled kalbi pieces as a main course or use kitchen shears to cut the meat into smaller pieces to serve as a starter or party nibble.
Serve the kalbi with a bunch of butter lettuce leaves, Simple Cauliflower Rice, and kimchi—and have everyone assemble their own lettuce wraps!
Love these flavors? Make my Slow Cooker Korean Short Ribs or my Instant Pot Korean Short Ribs—two other Korean-inspired meaty dishes that’ll make you clamor for seconds and thirds!
