This is Minnie’s birthday—eight years old. I told her a month ago that when it was her birthday, I would make a treat for her in the evening and she might invite all the officers to partake with her. So she has ever since been looking forward to it as a great event. Saturday I made preparation, and I was fortunate in doing so, for I suffered exceedingly Sunday night and for the greater part of this day with a gathering at the roots of my tooth. I was able to get up, however, and prepare the treat for her. We set the table and called the officers down about half-past 7 P.M. Minnie was so happy she hardly knew what to do with herself, and I think we all enjoyed it pretty well. Mix #110 Nutty Like a Fruitcake

1.5oz Demerara rum 1/2oz spiced rum 1oz orange juice 1/2oz lemon juice 3/4oz orgeat 1/2oz orange curacao 1/4oz allspice dram 1 dash Angostura bitters

Shake with ice and pour into Mai Tai glass.

This is a sweetish drink. You really taste the curacao and it has a spice finish. Very nice.

Mix #111 Fall in Paradise

1.5oz Demerara rum 1.5oz apple cider 1.5oz pineapple juice 1/2oz lime juice 1.2oz allspice dram 5 dashes peach bitters*

Shake everything with ice and strain into glass.

*I didn't have peach bitters,so I used Angostura and a dash of peach schnapps.

Another sweet drink with fruit and spice notes. Quite good.

Mix #112 Yule Tai'd

1oz aged light rum 1oz aged gold rum 1/2oz heavy bodied dark rum 1oz lime juice 1/2oz cinnamon syrup 1/2oz Grand Marnier 1/2oz orgeat 2 dashes allspice dram ground nutmeg

Combine everything except dark rum and nutmeg into glass with ice and swizzle. Float dark rum and top with some nutmeg.

Created for a Tiki Tony drink card by Kerri Bacon and Chloe Drane,this is a holiday Mai Tai riff. Very cinnamon forward with a spice finish. I used Hamilton Navy Grog Blend for my float to give it a little more kick. I'll be having one of these with my Xmas dinner.

The beginnings of my fruitcake!

It's been a while since I made my aged fruitcake. It's a layout of time, effort, and money-- the ingredients to make about 6 thick, nutty, fruity, boozy cakes will come to about 170 dollars when all is said and done.

But there is nothing like a well made, properly aged fruitcake.

To our left, we have the beginnings of my Tropical Fruitcake, a mix of dried apricots, pineapple, strawberries, mango, starfruit, kiwi, and golden raisins, all soaking in a solid rum. This will be combined with glazed orange peel and pineapples, dried coconut, and macadamia nuts, in a butter vanilla pound cake brushed every other day with rum simple.

The second is a traditional fruitcake, golden and flame raisins, apricot, dates, and plums, all soaking in reserve bourbon, waiting to be combined with glazed cherries, pineapple, Citron, orange peel, and pecans in a deep spice cake, brushed with a bourbon simple.

It was some packages of mixed fruits in a fruitcake mix, like green + red cherries pineapple and some orange i think? I tried a bit of the batter before my mom basted it for my aunts, uncles, and some cousins and it was pretty good ^-^

CREAM THE ABOVE                        

1/2 CUP BLACK COFFEE

1/2 CUP MOLASSES         

1 TSP SODA

ADD THESE TO ABOVE MIXTURE AND CREAM.                       

1/2# WALNUTS (I USED 2 CUPS WALNUTS AND 1 CUP PECANS)

1# DATES

1#  CURRENTS (I USED WHITE RAISINS)

1# RAISINS

1/2# MIXED CANDIED FRUIT

1# GLAZED CHERRIES  (I USED CANDIED RED AND GREEN CHERRIES)

1/2# CANDIED PINEAPPLE

1 WARM GLASS TART JELLY (1/2 CUP)

1 TSP. SALT

1 TSP. NUTMEG

2 TSP CINNAMON

1 TSP, CLOVES

1/2 GLASS BRANDY OR WHISKY (1/2 CUP)

PUT A PAN OF WATER ON BOTTOM RACK OF THE OVEN.

BAKE @ 275°     2-1/2  TO 3 HOURS

Note: Mrs. McQuaig was my Swedish great grandmother's neighbor. So this recipe goes back several generations.

Donnie: once again a typical sibling relationship. Less shouty than Leo, but still as much annoying. They do inventions together, and everytime it ends up in an argument.

Mikey: They care for each other, but she does think Dr.Delicate touch is a bit too... harsh.

Splinter: Its giving 💫daddy issues💫. She will do anything for his attention and honestly it's kinda sad.

April: BESTIES!!! Two fruitcakes hanging out and having sleepovers, each thinks of the other as a sister they never had.
