pittsburghs good if you like to go to museums and/or weird "i rented out a place in the city for my weird hobby" attractions. can't say much about actual activities, though. picklefest is still about 8 months away 😔

Notes on Pope County, Arkansas.
County Seat: Russellville.
Pope County was the 19th county formed.
It was formed on November 2nd, 1829.
Origin Of The County Name - It was named for John Pope, the third governor of the Arkansas Territory.
Interesting/Amusing Town Names - Nogo.
The origin of the town name of "Hector" - The community was named for President Grover Cleveland's dog by the President himself when postal officials grew frustrated with the residents' indecision on whether to name the community Avondale or The Plain.
Arkansas Nuclear One is in Pope County.
None of the local HS using "Atoms" as a mascot seems like a lost opportunity.
Art Walk - Russellville is known for its local music, art scene, and historic downtown area. The most notable of these events is the Art Walk. On the first Friday night of each quarter (March, June, September, and December), the city hosts the Downtown Art Walk, in which the public may listen to live music, taste wine and food, and appreciate, purchase and sell art while connecting with the community, as well as have their picture taken in the Alley.
Pickles - Atkins was the site of the Goldsmith Pickle Company which started producing pickled cucumbers in 1946. The town thus laid claim to be the “Pickle Capital of the World” with some 1200 acres devoted to growing cucumbers. Along the same line Atkins was the original home of the fried dill pickle, created by Bernell “Fatman” Austin. The town celebrates "Picklefest" for two days each May.
London, Arkansas has a Polk Salad Festival.
Augsburg - In 1883, the first German-speaking Lutheran families began arriving in Pope County, 15 miles northwest of Russellville. The town is named after the city in Germany.
College Football - The Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys are located in Russellville.

American composer Scott Bradley, most known for his works in Tom and Jerry (MGM) cartoons, was from Russellville.
Natalie Canerday, actress (Sling Blade, October Sky, Walk the Line), graduated from Russellville High School.
Jelly Gardner, baseball player in the Negro leagues.
Elizabeth Gracen, crowned Miss America in 1982, is a 1979 graduate of Russellville High School.
NFL punter and College All-American Greg Horne graduated from Russellville High School in 1983.
Famed knife maker Jimmy Lile was a Russellville native, best known for his work involving the Rambo film series.
NFL player and All-Pro selection Eddie Meador graduated RHS in 1955, and played college football at Arkansas Tech University.
Professional wrestler and reality television star Matt Riviera was born and raised in Russellville.

Picklesburgh 2019 Pittsburgh Picklefest Picklefest Pittsburgh was held on July 26 through July 28th 2019 on the Roberto Clemente bridge and part of the Fort Pit Boulevard in Pittsburgh. There was about 20 music performers on stage and many food (pickle) venders during the 3 day festival.
