JEE Main or JEE Advanced: Analyzing Difficulty and Subjects
Tumblr media
When it comes to the pursuit of undergraduate engineering programs in India, the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) plays a pivotal role. This examination is the gateway to prestigious institutions like the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and various other government engineering institutes. However, the JEE is not a single examination; it is divided into two significant phases: JEE Main and JEE Advanced. In this article, we will delve into the fundamental differences between these two exams, exploring aspects like exam pattern, syllabus, difficulty, preparation, and the choice of the best coaching institute for JEE.
JEE Main: The First Step
JEE Main is the initial phase of the JEE examination and is often considered the stepping stone to engineering excellence. It serves as the admission criterion for NITs,  IIITs, and numerous other prestigious engineering colleges across India. JEE Main is typically held twice annually, with examination sessions scheduled for January and April. This examination primarily covers three subjects: Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
Physics: Physics in JEE Main is known for its moderate difficulty level. It encompasses topics such as Mechanics, Electrostatics, Thermodynamics, and Optics. While it requires a solid foundation, it is relatively manageable for most students. To understand how to prepare for JEE mains effectively, consider seeking guidance from a best coaching institute for JEE.
Chemistry: Chemistry, divided into Physical, Organic, and Inorganic Chemistry, is generally considered the most scoring subject in JEE Main. With dedicated preparation, students can excel in this section.
Mathematics: Mathematics in JEE Main is often regarded as the most challenging. It involves topics like Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus, and Coordinate Geometry. Strong mathematical skills are crucial for success in this section.
JEE Advanced: The Ultimate Challenge
JEE Advanced is the second phase of the JEE series and is designed for students aiming to secure a seat in the prestigious IITs. This exam is known for its increased difficulty level compared to JEE Main.
Physics: The Physics section in JEE Advanced is notably more challenging than in JEE Main. It includes advanced problems that need more intricate problem-solving.
Chemistry: Chemistry in JEE Advanced is also more demanding. While it covers the same divisions as JEE Main, the questions are more complex and require a deeper understanding of the subject.
Mathematics: Mathematics in JEE Advanced is at its most advanced level. It comprises topics like Differential Equations, Vector Calculus, and Probability. High-level mathematical proficiency is essential for success. Knowing how to prepare for JEE advanced requires rigorous study and practice.
Analyzing the Difference in Difficulty
The primary difference in difficulty between JEE Main and JEE Advanced lies in the complexity of the questions and the depth of knowledge required. JEE Main questions are relatively straightforward, while JEE Advanced questions are designed to test a student's profound understanding of the subjects.
Moreover, the time allocated for JEE Advanced is more limited, adding to the overall challenge. Students attempting JEE Advanced need to be exceptionally well-prepared to handle the intense competition and the demanding questions.
Making the Right Choice
The choice between JEE Main and JEE Advanced should align with your aspirations, capabilities, and the colleges you aim to enter. Take into account the following considerations when arriving at this vital decision.:
Aspirations: If your ultimate goal is to secure a seat in one of the IITs, JEE Advanced is the path to take. However, if you aim for other reputed engineering institutions, JEE Main might be your preferred choice.
Preparation Time: Assess your preparation level and the time available. JEE Advanced demands more rigorous preparation, while JEE Main is relatively more manageable.
Strengths and Weaknesses: Analyze your strengths and weaknesses in the subjects. If you excel in Physics and Chemistry, JEE Main might be a better option. If you are a mathematics enthusiast and love challenging problems, JEE Advanced could be your forte.
Competition: Be aware of the competition level. JEE Advanced is more competitive due to the limited number of seats in the IITs.
Striking a Balance
Both JEE Main and JEE Advanced are significant milestones in the journey of becoming an engineer in India. Your choice between the two should align with your ambitions and the level of dedication you are willing to put into your preparation. Remember that success in either exam ultimately depends on your hard work, determination, and a strong foundation in the subjects. Choose wisely, and may your engineering dreams take flight!

sillage: (n.) the trace of someones perfume.
SYPNOSIS: yang jungwon knows youre pretty. hes always thought you were pretty. just how long can he manage to keep that to himself? OR the five times you catch yourself lingering on jungwon.
PAIRING: black cat!jungwon x golden retriever! reader [gn but a bit fem implied i think]
WC: 1.2k
GENRE: fluff!!! friends to lovers. sort of clumsy reader and jungwon who always takes care of them.
WARNINGS: none i think oh em jees
NOTE: happy birthday wonnie 💗💗💗💗💗 thank you for being such a wonderful leader and being with enha ☹️ pls take care of urself ilysm ☹️❤️❤️❤️ i hope u guys like this fic huhu 😅😋 do reblog!!
Tumblr media
jungwon knew you were pretty.
he had always thought you were pretty, ever since the first time he met you, which was at jay’s house party.
your hair under your baseball cap and pretty lashes peeking out, he knew he was in trouble. He wondered if hed ever be able to tell you how pretty you were.
i.
“mom ill be home a bit late today! ill be at jungwons for a project, love you bye!” you shouted over your shoulder as you struggled to carry all your things through the door.
your bag, along with a half eaten sandwich and your wallet and a book in your two hands, anyone could tell that you were running late. but you couldn’t care less, you just really needed to catch the bus on time and see jungwon.
seeing his smile in the morning was something you couldn’t start your day without.
you ran to your bus stop, thanking all the gods in a silent prayer when you saw your usual bus arrive.
“just on time again huh y/n?” the driver smiles warmly at you and you laugh at him in slight embarrassment before nodding and going inside.
you move towards the back of the bus, and sit at your usual place, smiling in excitement as you see jungwon boarding the bus. his eyes search for you and when he spots you, he sends you a smile, and you let out a sigh of happiness, returning the smile.
he walks up to your seat, eyeing all the things you were holding in your hands. “do you want me to hold a few of your stuff while you try to put them in your bag?”
you dont need to answer him as he takes your book and wallet from your hands so you can open your bag with your now free hands.
he helps you keep your things inside and sets your bag on your lap, looking at you. “rough morning?”
you look at him “yeah. oh god i missed my alarm again! how could i be so forgetful, really.”
jungwon just smiles at your ranting and gives you one of his airpods as he plays your favourite song.
you try not to blush when you notice his lingering stare on you.
ii.
you rushed out of your class, just almost tripping over your untied laces. it wasnt often that you fell down so why bother?
you were excited to see jungwon after that horrendous physics lesson. you had no idea how jake sim managed to love the subject so much. maybe someday youd ask him for his help.
you enter the cafeteria and your eyes search for jungwon. it was very crowded but you managed to find him, sitting by your usual table, with one seat reserved for you. he smiles at you and waves at you to come over.
“saved you a seat. how was physics?” you sit down and take out your lunch. “oh gods it was terrible. i will never understand physics.” jungwon smiles at you.
“anyways we should probably eat quick, riki said he wanted to show us something.” you raise your eyebrows. “that kids probably up to no good again.”
“as if you didnt sneak out with him just last week to go to that concert. i couldve bought us tickets you know?” you giggle at him “it was soooo much more fun to sneak around. you shouldve been there won. if only you didnt have to stay home that day.” you pout.
jungwon ruffles your hair, “its okay we’ve got so many more we can attend together. properly this time, not by sneaking around.” you feel your cheeks heat up at the thought of going to concerts with jungwon, alone.
“okay lets go, riki must be waiting.” jungwon walks next to you by the hallway, noticing how you try to match your steps with him. adorable.
“wait your shoelaces are untied. ill tie them for you.” he stops you and bends down before you can even say anything. “won its okay. its not like im gonna fall down anyways.”
he gets up after tying them, a satisfied smile on his face.
 “still”
iii.
“you are such a dumbass. i swear to GOD y/n you have got to stop calling me at 3am to go shopping with you.”
you can only laugh at his tired frustration. of course no one liked being woken up at this hour, but you really wanted to go on a midnight convenience store run.
“i should. but i think we both know that i wont.”
he can only roll his eyes at you fondly.
you drag him to the ice cream section and gasp when you see your favourite flavour at the top. but before you can grab it, you see jungwon grabbing it.
“this is your favourite flavour isnt it? lets get this one and share.”
oh. he remembers your favourite flavour.
you stand there, unmoving, as jungwon moves towards the cashier and pays for the ice cream.
“y/n? arent you coming? i already paid for it.”
“what? oh. oh yeah. wait up.”
iv.
you were about to combust.
holding hands with jungwon was new. not a bad new, it was good.
what if your hands were too sweaty and he felt disgusted? what if hes just being nice? you did feel cold after all. him holding your hands and putting it in his coat pocket was just.. normal. it happened between friends all the time. right?
“you feel any warmer?” his voice breaks you out of your train of thoughts.
“yeah i guess.” you dont look at him, opting to look at your feet and walking in sync with your best friend.
you think that he would let go of your hand now that youve told him you feel better. but no? he only tightens his grip on your hand.
your already red cheeks feel even warmer at the action.
if only you had taken a look at jungwons face too, youd have seen a small smile on his face and his adorable red ears.
v.
“how many times do i have to tell you to not play in the rain. youre going to get even more sick if you do.”
you had finally faced the consequences of playing around in the rain when you should have stayed in. jungwon had rushed to your place the moment he had gotten to know.
you looked at him apologetically, before you felt another sneeze coming up your nose. jungwon looked at you in worry before getting up to make you something hot, to help with the cold.
“you dont have to y’know.” you say to him weakly. jungwon was the only person who took care of you during times like this. he appeared put off to others, because he didnt like talking to many people. but only you and a few of his other friends knew how he really was.
“oh but i do. if i dont, whos gonna take care of you?” he says, giving you some tea.
you dont know if it was that particular lighting in your room, but you really wanted to kiss him. you were almost sure that he liked you back. or at least thats what you thought. either way it didnt hurt to try right?
“can i kiss you won?”
what.
how could you just ask him that so casually?
“what?” he asks you, his heart stuttering in his chest. jungwon thinks hes never liked someone as much as he likes you.
“can i kiss you jungwon?” you repeat your question, your heart beating out of your body in anticipation.
“yes.” he manages to get out. but before you can do anything, he stops you. “but not now okay? youre sick right now. do you want to get me sick too?” he smiles at you pouting.
“no .. but… ok fine youre right. then id have to take care of you too.” you roll your eyes playfully as jungwon carefully slips into the bed next to you, and places your head on his shoulder.
“i really like you y/nnie.”
“i really like you a lot too won.”
and now jungwon knows he can never let go of your lingering perfume smell around him. ever.
i.
jungwon thinks youre pretty. maybe even more than before. but this time, he lets you know how pretty he thinks you are, always with a kiss.

Eddie arrives earlier now and leaves later for his shifts, and he is focused at work. He doesn't smile as often, but he does smile - usually at Buck explaining something he's recently found out - and he still teases his colleagues, he's still focused, he's still working together with Buck to protect Chimney, Hen and Ravi from Gerrard as much as possible.
(Ostensibly, they're not on Gerrard's hit list: Gerrard doesn't know them well enough to try to target their weaknesses. Buck has even brought out the clipboard, except it's now wielded as a shield: the two of them triple check everything to make sure that no fault can be found.)
It's Hen who first notices the thousand-yard stare when Eddie's alone at the weight bench or when he's seated at the table. Like he's waiting for something that he can't name. She's seen that look before, in the mirror, when she was much younger and the future seemed to run right into a wall. She's felt it recently too, when she and Karen return home and they're in bed and the lights are out, and the emptiness spills out in an aching silence. (Karen tries, how she tries, but it isn't her and her decisions that led to Mara being taken from them.) She shares some of her pain with Eddie, and he shares a little of his, and they find time to have brunch or lunch together on their days off.
Chimney isn't the most perceptive regarding Eddie, but after seeing Hen reach out, he also makes the effort to invite Eddie over for meals more often. It's easy to cook for one more hungry firefighter, and Eddie likes teaching Jee some basic Spanish. Sometimes they play ball at the station before their shift begins, and Chimney sees how it helps Eddie to lose the tension in his shoulders to have that time to unwind. If it keeps Eddie from getting stuck in his head, that's good for the team. Chimney tries really hard not to be too obvious about his checking in, but Eddie pats his shoulder one day and says that he'll take care of himself, he has a duty to stay safe.
Maddie has a way of getting Eddie to open up about Christopher whenever they play with Jee, while Chimney manages the older kids. One time Eddie accepts the offer to sleep over, and even told a bedtime story to Jee in Spanish. Later that night, Maddie and Chimney listened to Eddie talk about reading to Chris, how the best sound in the world was Chris' laughter. Maddie held his hand and squeezed his fingers, and told him that it would be very good of him to let his son know all of that in a written letter, so that Chris would be able to keep Eddie's words with him in a physical form, that even apart, the love could still be felt.
Buck and Tommy do their best to include him. In fact, they gang up on him: if Tommy's available for basketball or muay thai or karaoke night, he grabs Eddie along; if Tommy's working but both Buck and Eddie are free, Buck enlists Eddie's help in furniture shopping or recipe tasting. They even start a movie night thing at Eddie's place. They show up with beer and snacks, and they have a jar with a selection of titles to pick from that they each contribute to. Eddie puts his foot down on them cuddling on his couch, however.
Bobby visits Eddie, a couple of times, "just to catch up on news". He asks about the prayer book, and guides Eddie through a couple of devotionals that helped Bobby through his darkest patch. "I'm not saying that you must return to practicing religion," he tells Eddie sincerely, because he wants this promising young man to keep out of the mire, to become a light for others. "But you and I know that sometimes, when we're stuck at the very lowest, it takes a bit of faith to begin climbing out again."
"A bit of faith?"
"A bit, as small as a mustard seed."

I don't know if it's just me but I kinda wanted more to be done about the chimney punching Buck scene. Like you have Eddie talking to him and maybe he should have said something about Jee being admitted and then fine. But like physically assaulting someone isn't the way forward. Also bold of chim to say you really bucked that up after the Eddie thing when I can't remember him even apologising for what he did.
Maybe it's just me I know not everyone is perfect nor do they always react the best way but the show does gloss over things that should be brought up a bit more.
Maybe I would if liked to seen reactions to buck flinching when chim came back or even from Bobby after he had buck up against the wall over looking in his book s1. Or just someone doing something about the sleeping with your therapist and how that is NOT OK.

Day 11/100 days of Productivity
12th-13th April, 2024
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Academia
I watched a video on Concentration terms from a JEE channel to learn a trick. It's at around 50:00.
I watched this video on questions on Concentration terms but its not really NEET related.
I learnt about Frog from quick video lessons on Unacademy X. I also did around 20 questions, not enough though.
Watched about 25 minutes of this lecture on frog until the hyperrealistic amphibian actually came on the screen. I'll have to finish this tomorrow. The lecture is actually really amazing.
Watched 1 hour of physics lecture on Solids.
I did about 56 questions of Biology but couldn't count the correct-incorrect questions.
I did about 40-50 questions from different chapters in biology from the book that I was practicing from but haven't completed any chapters yet.
Watched 41 minutes of a lecture on Molecular Biology.
Watched a few short video lectures of Chemical Equilibrium on Unacademy X.
Non Academia
I started watching Era's tours. Watched 15 minutes of it only. It's 3.5 hours long. I'm gonna watch it either when I'm taking a long break or when I'm done with my exams.
Watched this video on game theory. Very fascinating. How being nice, but not a doormat is the best strategy you can have long term. This video was basically an introduction to game theory for me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm also taking part in 20 days of April breaking the cycle challenge of @thelastneuron so, it's day 1/20 (technically its day 1/18).
Kharbuja season is here.
A lot of things happened on 12th, and the only thing i can share is that it was my periods and i just sat watched tv for the whole evening. But its fine. I'll have to compensate for that today.
I'm gonna try to give better than my best in this new challenge started by my friend. Since, it's about breaking a cycle, I'm gonna go out and break the cycle of mediocrity in my efforts. Lets do this!
-Tanishka.

Apps & Websites I Use For Self Studying For NEET (besides tuitions)
PW (Physics Wallah) — highly recommended. it offers you modules, video lectures, handwritten notes, etc. for free + you get to solve neet & jee pyq's, access solved answers, ask doubts.
Bank of Biology — it's a website where you get ppts for every chapter of biology in 11 and 12, useful if the writing style of ncert makes it difficult for you to concentrate. but i wouldn't recommend completely ignoring ncert bio, because neet questions can come from each and every line of the book.
Byju's — good app for solving board level mcqs, also offers free video lectures.
Toppr — my go to app for doubts in the questions of any subject, most of them are answered by this app. (i also refer to Byju's for solving doubts).
