They have also played several festivals including SunFest, Orange Blossom Jamboree, Tropical Heatwave - WMNF's extravaganza of eclectic and exotic entertainment, Jambando, and Bay Buzz Fest. Since the release of their first album, the Funky Seeds have been featured on WMNF Community radio, ruKus radio, INDIE104-iRADIOLA, Indie Life Radio, New Music Tampa Bay, musictampabay.com, and The Bay Buzz. The band members are now working on other projects but once a year Saint Pete gets the opportunity to jam out with one of our favorite bands. Recently, the Funky Seeds played their reunion show at Ringside Cafe and if you missed it, you missed out. Opening for the Funky Seeds was Phunk It, the new band project of Bradenton native Kyle Shell, an apt pick considering it was Kyle who first got the band a spot at Orange Blossom Jamboree. Both bands played their hearts out and the crowd could not have been more behind them. In fact, as the show came to a close; one could not help but wish that this would happen more than only once a year. After the show, HIBS Media had the opportunity to interview Funky D, the keyboardist for the Seeds and long standing musician in the local scene. Throughout the interview, it was clear that his insight on the Bay Area music scene, and its development, is unmatched.
