: Windmills of Holland: Modern Pictorialism
Windmills of Holland Impressions in Light: The Pictorialist Spirit Reimagined Recently, I have been reading about the Pictorialists, a group of photographers from the early 20th century, including notable figures like Alfred Stieglitz, Edward Steichen, and Gertrude Käsebier. They aimed to make their photography resemble paintings, emphasizing beauty, atmosphere, and emotional resonance over…

August’s escape is a room with a view;
lined with shadow boxes ivy trellises & green fairy lights
an enchanted place filled with mirror moons & apothecary jars
where botanical essences from last summer’s harvest entice soft hearts & haunted minds
with smudges of sagebrush wormwood flavoured wine & bohemian life
a sanctuary where anything is possible
an oasis —on the inside
.

"Autumn's Canvas"
Every shoot is an exploration and an experiment. You never know exactly what the final result will be. It’s like painting with a brush, but instead of paint, you use light, movement, and time. ICM and multiple exposure photography allow me to discover something new each time, which is where the magic of these techniques lies.
I believe that photography is not only about what you see but also about what you feel. And that’s the essence I strive to convey in every shot. Through ICM and multiple exposures, I’ve found a way to express my emotions and reveal new facets of the world to myself and my viewers. It’s a unique and thrilling genre that offers me creative freedom and inspiration every day.

Mountainous glories, They move superbly; Crumbling so slowly, That none perceives when The golden domes Are sunk in the valleys Of fathomless snow. (William Sharp)

Painting from photos today
In the Shade of the Willow Tree, Jacquelyn Block Today I decided I wanted to paint from one of my photos on my phone. I decided I wanted to have a tree in the painting, so I searched through my photo app for trees. I came across a series of pictures I took of my daughter at Whaby Park. It is a beautiful area with ponds, fountains, gazebos, columns and my favorite, weeping willow trees. I chose…

The French Impressionist painter Armand Guillaumin pictured on the banks of the Creuse river in 1907, painting his work Bathers at Crozant — which features the youth who can be seen holding his knee on the painter’s right

The French Impressionist painter Armand Guillaumin’s work: Bathers at Crozant —

Close up on that “youth”:
I’m not sure how he’d have felt about the finished painting? Also, is the original model tattooed? The suntanned hand contrasting with the white skin is striking in both images—the actual sitter seems more svelte than the artist’s impression?
Hmmmm….
