A defense attorney is supposed to defend both innocent and guilty clients. The writers of Ace Attorney know this, because there is an attorney in the game who specifically defends guilty clients (and is portrayed positively).
Phoenix Wright's moral superiority complex and black and white thinking, embodied in his refusal to defend guilty clients is a deliberate, core personality trait of the character.
Also simply in terms of methodology, he almost never actually defends his client but rather prosecutes an unindicted individual whom he had not yet identified.
Are we shocked that the art student who became a lawyer for ulterior motives sucks at his job?

I really feel a certain way about how the characters in Ace Attorney pay little to no mind to Apollo's suffering/backstory except to make fun of him or criticize him.
I really feel a certain way on how the narrative seems to flip flop on whether Apollo is considered to be family to the Sahdmadhi's or not.
I really feel a certain way on how Apollo isn't allowed to be angry at those who wrong him, and those who do wrong him never truly apologize for it.

Yeah its less "trust every client" and more "only take clients that magic tells you you can trust."
Could it be suggested that Phoenix Wright's use of the Magatama sort of muddies the whole "trust your client" thing

Dear Iiashxlie,
Tumblr media
I have a particular sight on art and the arts. I studied on this stuff and have the degree to prove it, so if it looks lazy with little to no effort to make it beautiful and breathtaking, it's not art.
(Call me a hater all you like, but Modern Art is NOT art, thank you very much.)

10 & 20 for the ask game
10. Fandom that you've spent the most money on?
For me, it’s definitely a tie between FMA, Critical Role and Black Butler 😅
I have all of the hardback ‘Fullmetal Editions’ of the FMA manga which were a FORTUNE to collect (#responsiblepurchases) and are amongst my prized possessions. Otherwise, I also have so much Roy Mustang… just so much
Critical Role / The Legend of Vox Machina is here after I lost my DAMN MIND and queued for 6 hours for 3 autographs and 1 photo from Travis, Tal & Liam… I’m sure y’all can imagine the con cost… 😵 (Travis contributes to the FMA money pit as well…) I also own two of the cursed Vox Machina figures (if you know you know) and I love them (Percy, Vax, my beloveds🫶🏻)
For Black Butler, Mod Hawkeye says I have a Sebastian shrine. I want to be clear that it is NOT a shrine but simply one hell of a collection 🙇🏻‍♂️

- Mod Mustang 🔥
—————————————————————————
…It’s 100% a Sebastian shrine.
Anyway— for me it’s probably between Animal Crossing and Ace Attorney.
Animal Crossing has always kinda been tied to new console releases, I literally only got my own Switch because of ACNH 💀🌺🏝
As for Ace Attorney, the games themselves over the years have definitely added up. Especially if you consider the crossover game (an absolute nightmare to find at the time) and Project X Zone 2. I’m not a fighting game person like that, but Phoenix Wright, Maya and the promise of a Miles Edgeworth appearance sold it ⚖️🌻
Other than that, I have the Nendos and the Pop-up Parade figures of Miles and Phoenix (as does Mod Mustang!)
As you can imagine, I’ve been absolutely losing my mind over finally getting a localised Ace Attorney Investigations!

- Mod Hawkeye 🦅
20. All-time favorite fanfic author?
Honestly, we just go where the tags and cool summaries lead 🤩 But if you have any suggestions, we’d love to hear them!

Does Miles Edgeworth know?
Does Miles "manipulated into presenting forged evidence by Damon Gant and endured years of rumors about presenting forged evidence" Edgeworth know?
Does he know that he reinstated his trusted companion Phoenix Wright's badge based on evidence Phoenix had forged?
Did Phoenix tell him? Is he keeping it a secret?
What would Miles do if he ever found out?
Miles is the chief prosecutor. If he knows, and hasn't come forward about it, then he's engaging in the same corruption as other villains of the series.

I feel like the only Ace Attorney fan who actually doesn't mind Apollo's backstories (they definately could be written better), hates how Phoenix treats Apollo, doesn't think Dhurke is a good father, hates Rayfa, and doesn't ship Wrightworth or Klapollo

I know that these days in the Ace Attorney fandom the cool thing to do is to stan and defend Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney and bash Dual Destinies and Spirit of Justice (and don’t get wrong, those two DO have a lot of writing problems), but Imma be honest:
Disbarring Phoenix Wright was a seriously bad writing decision
“But…but…Phoenix isn’t ooc because look at the circumstances!” Yes, I agree (Benix is hot let’s be real), but you’re missing the point: the problem isn’t his characterization so much as the circumstances that created it. It cheapens the ending of Trials and Tribulations and tbh would have pissed me off if not for the fact I was playing it knowing his disbarment would be undone in the next game. I understand Shu Takumi was forced to put Phoenix in the game (it honestly would have been the best case scenario for us all and in the long run for the trilogy if he got his way and didn’t have to include him) but this wasn’t the way to go. I like the basic idea of his character of being a disillusioned lawyer who fell from grace, but not for an established character we spent a trilogy watch grow as I feel that’s an arc more suiting to an original character. I needed to get this off my chest because all the “stop saying Phoenix was ooc in Apollo Justice that game is peak!” takes are dramatically missing the point.
