Hi, Spider!
I have a fun question.
In August, I'm going to be attending a wedding. Husbff is the best man, and Tiny Human is the ring bearer.
I've put together an outfit that mimics the suits worn by the wedding party (navy blue pinstripe pants and vest and a white shirt), with the bride's knowledge and approval.
The bride is concerned that her parents may not be on their best behavior toward queer friends and guests, so she's given me permission to be as outrageous and QUEER as I like. If they're going to cause a problem, better that it happen before the big day.
As a member of the extended wedding party, I'm expected to attend the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner. The dress code is more casual than the actual ceremony. I'm not sure how to queer it up at a casual dinner. Any advice?
Suspenders go on jeans or other casual pants. I wear suspenders with pretty much everything. I like these for pants that don't have purpose-built buttons:
Personally, I love colorful socks for a little extra zhush on an outfit, and here I think a great choice might be from fellow PDX business @sockdreams:
You can't go wrong with adding a pronoun pin, of course, and even better if it glitters:
For that matter, if I'm going to recommend my own stuff, I might as well point out that if you don't want to go the suspenders route, you can't go wrong with a button-up shirt:
You know, maybe something really subtle:
:)

idk if positive stuff is even really allowed here??
ok so when i was 13 i got a binder from underworks but my mom was unsupportive so i had to hide it and my sister (shes trans too btw!!) helped me sneak it into the house via my bedroom window. my mom would often do room checks because id do things like buy burner phones so i could talk to my friends (my mom wouldnt let me be friends with supportive people or queer people) so i ended up throwing it away bc it wasnt safe.
fast forward to me being 16, my mom didnt fully understand, and was only semi-supportive. but she bought me a binder from the spencers brand "phluid". their binders were really stiff, hot, itchy, and the stitching comes out easily. they also didnt have any in my skin tone.
fast foward even more...
im 17, my mom is fully accepting and supportive. (she accepts me for being nonhuman too, and about my complicated relationship with my gender+sexuality, like me being queer for women even thought im transmasc (im a nonbinary man)) oh also she argues with my dad in support of me being trans. shes also going through some self discovery.
anyways shes getting me another binder from underworks!!! im really excited because theyre soft, durable, breathable, and will actually match my skin tone.
i swear im gonna wear it every day im soso excited!! :D
Congrats!! And yes, of course positivity is allowed :)

Why is breaking in a binder so much harder for me now? Is it just because I'm used to GC2B binders and now that I've switched to a more heavy duty/durable one it's harder for me to put on?
For clarification, I got me a Phluid size large binder (my chest is a 36) from Spencer's since my friend recommended them to me. It fits me, like it doesn't crush my ribs or hurt or anything, but it is very stiff and hard to work with the material. It does bind correctly and my chest looks normal to me once again, thank god.
Probably another reason why it's hard to work with is because I'm not used to binding anymore since I detransitioned for a bit and gained weight before going "Oh no... I think I've been lying to myself" and start transitioning again.
I just hope it'll break in soon since I hate wearing a binder for only an hour or two before I have to take it off again. This is only temporary for now anyways before I can get another one, probably for more based activities like conventions and whatnot.

Binder Review by me :
For reference. I’m like a b/c cup in bras and typically a medium or large in binders
GC2B - 5/10 it was the first binder I ever tried. Didn’t use it for very long, fabric was uncomfortable and it felt hard to breath it
Spectrum Outfitters - 8/10 I’ve had the same binder from them for 2.5 years now. It surprisingly still binds super well and there aren’t any frays in the seams. My only complaint is that when you first get it, the fabric is stiff and uncomfortable, but that’s expected
Wonobabi - Brand is overall 7/10, have tried numerous
The side zip binder - 2/10 was super uncomfortable for me and was a sensory nightmare. Hated this one so badly
The full length binder - 9/10 in love with these ones. They’re more comfortable than most short length imo. They’re easier to breath in, and they appear more as a tank top undershirts yk.
Flavnt racer back - 7/10 I really wanted to love this one, especially bc of the price. I think it would be good for those with bigger chests, but for me, it didn’t sit right nor bind. It’s more of a slightly compressing sports bra, and idk it just feels weird
Phluid from Spencer’s - 7/10 I really like how this one binds. It’s tight and uncomfortable until you wear it a couple of times. I wish I’d love this one more, but it’s falling apart already unfortunately.
Overall:
I think my personal favorite is the Wonobabi full length. They’re comfortable, secure, and do a good job at binding. They’re last a decent amount of time.

Back on my trans posting but these are more available in the south now so - Spencer’s has some new binders and packers here’s a honest review from a 5’5 fat man with a bigger chest
• The packer
the packer had two options and it was light packer 4.5 inch and dark packer 4.5 inch so not a big color variety [the brand is phluid]
I do have to say I really really really like this packer it’s 20$ and it’s actually really nice, it’s smooth and has lots of depth and detail which I haven’t found from other packers much. It’s very good for my height and it fits very nice and doesn’t make me look like I’m too big for my britches, it’s a soft packer and feels nice and doesn’t feel uncomfortable in my boxers and doesn’t really move out of place.
https://www.spencersonline.com/product/form-light-skin-tone-4-5-inch-packer-dildo-phluid/268217.uts
Here’s the one I used!!!
• the binder
not good I mean it doesn’t bind flat very well. It’s definitely made for skinny people with small boobs which sucks for us dudes with big tits but whatever. The sizing is also very fucked lol I’m usually a Large in most binders and I will upsize to a xl for a bigger comfortable fit but tell me why I had to get a 2X?????? It’s also a tiny bit snug and pushes my chest up alittle bit. I also am not a fan of the material.
These may work on different bodies but they for sure didn’t work that well on mine lol. If your looking for a binder as a bigger dude I’d recommend spectrums binders or underworks
•that’s it thanx for reading my tranny review

ive gained abt 20 pounds and im finally getting a bigger binder :D
im rly excited abt it because then ill actually want to wear it every day due to it fitting much better.
im gonna keep the smaller one and turn it into a peice of art via embroidery
i use the phluid ones you can get at spencers because my mom wants to see them on me before purchase.
i highly reccomend underworks as theyre more comfortable, elastic (without losing binding quality), and less hot.

Your boy got a new binder cause his gc2b one was LITERALLY DISINTEGRATING. So he got a phluid binder. Had to go a size up compared to the gc2b one. My biggest thing rn is it sits close to up on my arms and that is def gonna lead to rashing.

Coming from someone who was truscum in the 2010's, I think you being gendercrit and also chest dysphoric is a sign of some major cognitive dissonance and self-hatred that you really should talk over with someone outside of this hellsite. Doesn't necessarily mean you're trans—how you label yourself is entirely up to you—but you clearly have a complicated relationship with gender that will not be improved here.
That being said, I've been binding for years and can say with confidence that binders are very much a personal preference thing, so your mileage may vary with these suggestions:
Underworks: My absolute go-to for years. Their tri-top binders are my tried-and-tested favorite, but I also own a compression T-shirt from them that also binds pretty well, and I've heard good things about their econo binders as well. Sizes also go up to 3X, which is nice. The fabric can take some getting used to, being about three degrees of separation from trampoline material, but the arm holes being on the wider side makes up for that in my book.
Phluid: Honestly not sure if they even sell these anymore. I found mine in the back of a Spencer's, and I haven't found it online at all beyond a few websites talking about Phluid partnering with Spencer's to sell binders. That being said, the binder I picked up from them is surprisingly comfortable and binds incredibly well, so they're worth a shot if you do find one. Be wary though: they absolutely go by Hot Topic sizing. The sizes go up to 2XL and they run small. I'm a large in Underworks sizing, but an XL in Phluid sizing.
gc2b: More of an anti-suggestion. I never really liked their binders, and I've heard they've been using lower-quality materials in recent years. For me personally, the arm holes always felt too small for my comfort, and the fabric on the tanks had a habit of bunching up throughout the day (though this was about eight odd years ago so who knows). That said, they're the most fat friendly option that I'm familiar with, running up to 5XL, and have a wider variety of colors and prints. You'd probably be able to wear some of their tank binders out in public and just have people assume you were wearing a normal tank top. They might work out better for you depending on your preferences and circumstances.
In terms of general advice and suggestions: pick up a fabric tape measure if you don't have one already and take your chest measurements. If you wear bras already (like, ones with cup sizes) you might be able to guesstimate your chest size, but it's better to have more precise measurements for binders. Always, always check the size charts of any binder company you shop from to be sure you're buying the right size and, when in doubt, pick the larger size rather than the smaller one.
If the binder fastens with a zipper or clasp system, avoid it. Best case scenario, you're just getting a very low quality product. Worst case scenario, the pressure is being distributed very unevenly due to a flawed design that prioritizes profit over safety and you could bust a rib. No matter what binder you end up getting, don't do any strenuous exercise in it, try to stick to around eight hours of usage per day maximum, and hand wash those suckers (or at the very least use the delicate and cold water settings on your machine washer) to prolong the effectiveness of the compression material.
I hope this helps. Best of luck out there.
anon, you misunderstood. I have kind of figured out why I am dysphoric, and it's got nothing to do with being trans, even from a truscum point of view. I'm not looking to figure out my "relationship with gender" on tumblr, but I know that there's other women on here who are dysphoric and don't plan to transition, and I dont think it's bad to confront experiences. as for the binder suggestions, I've been keeping updated on tips on how to buy one since I was 14, and I'm not american so I'd need to look elsewhere anyway. thanks for the thought tho, that's appreciated

What is Gender Fluid Fashion?
Gender fluid fashion, non-binary fashion, and gender neutral fashion are clothing trends that blur the borders between masculine and feminine meanings. The clothing style is intended to be gender neutral. These looks and accessories are appropriate for everybody, regardless of gender, size, or body shape. The tendency is rising in tandem with the increased understanding of sexuality, identity, and independence that many people are championing today. So labelling gender fluid fashion as "just" a fleeting fashion trend isn't quite accurate. 56% of Gen-Z customers purchase beyond their designated gender, according to the fashion brand Phluid Project. The fashion industry is responding as well. Gender neutral apparel has been featured on the catwalks of Fashion Week for some time.
youtube
The British Fashion Council has recognised this as well, and has declared that London Fashion Week would no longer be segregated between menswear and womenswear in 2021. Old traditions are gradually being torn down, gender boundaries are melting, and gender fluid fashion is not a trend, but a fashion revolution.
"FLUID FASHION JUST HELPS ME EXPRESS WHAT I AM FEELING ON THE INSIDE, AND THAT JUST MAKES ME MORE COMFORTABLE ON THE OUTSIDE - AALIYAH."
