Jonas Brothers Documentary ‘Chasing Happiness’ Premiere Date Set on Amazon Prime Video | Variety
Tumblr media
CREDIT: AMAZON
“Chasing Happiness,” a documentary about the newly reunited Jonas Brothers, will premiere Tuesday, June 4, exclusively on Amazon Prime Video worldwide.
The film promises never-before-seen footage of Nick, Joe, and Kevin Jonas following their path from their early days growing up in a family struggling to make ends meet to the heights of stardom — and to the group’s hiatus nearly a decade ago and their 2013 breakup.
In their heyday, the Jonas Brothers earned two No. 1 albums and sold out shows across three continents, selling over 17 million-plus albums with over 1 billion streams worldwide. The trio announced their reunion earlier this year with their hit single “Sucker,” which has topped 445 million global streams to date.
Last month, the group announced their first album since 2009, “Happiness Begins,” set to release June 7 via Republic Records. In addition, they announced details for their 40-city Happiness Begins Tour this summer and fall with special guests Bebe Rexha and Jordan McGraw. They’re also slated to be the musical guests on “Saturday Night Live” this weekend (May 11).
“Experiencing the brothers back together again is the news that everyone hoped for and we can’t wait to share this intimate and compelling documentary special with all of our customers,” Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon Studios, said in a statement when the project was announced.
“Chasing Happiness” is from Philymack and Federal Films in association with Polygram Entertainment and Amazon Studios, with executive producers Phil McIntyre, John Varvatos, Monte Lipman, and Dana Sano and producers Reece Pearson, Steve Ecclesine, and Grant MacDowell. The film is directed by John Lloyd Taylor.
In announcing the documentary’s premiere date, Amazon released a video clip of the Jonas Brothers asking Alexa who her favorite member of the group is:

Jonas Brothers Documentary in the Works at Amazon
Tumblr media
Jonas Brothers fans, remember to breathe.
Amazon Studios has announced it is partnering with Philymack, and Federal Films, a division of Republic Records, on an upcoming documentary about the Jonas Brothers, to premiere on Amazon Prime Video.
The doc will give fans “an intimate look” into the lives of Kevin, Nick and Joe.
“Our fans are the best in the world and have shared in our journey as the Jonas Brothers and us as individuals,” said the Jonas Brothers in a statement. “In releasing this documentary we wanted to make sure we partnered with an innovative platform, like Amazon, that could reach our fans around the world.”
In an interview with Brooke Reese on the Beats 1 radio station on Apple Music, the brothers gave some details about what their fans can expect in the documentary.“It’s going to give people a look into who we are as a family, as brothers and — oh yeah — we were also the Jonas Brothers at one time, then we weren’t, and now we are again. So you kind of get the full range of our life story plus our family’s perspective on everything,” Nick said. “Also a big factor in this too is the fans and what they’ve meant to us. I think it’s going to be something we look back on in 20 years and we were able to show our kids and be really proud of the growth we’ve had.”
The band only recently dropped their comeback single, “Sucker,” which represents their first original release in nearly six years, and the debut of their new partnership with Republic Records. The accompanying music video, which playfully stars the trio’s respective partners, Priyanka Chopra, “Game of Thrones” star Sophie Turner, and Danielle Jonas, has already gained over 40 million views on YouTube.
“Amazon Prime Video is proud to be the exclusive home for a very personal, behind the scenes look at the Jonas Brothers as they reunite for this exciting tour” said Jennifer Salke, Head of Amazon Studios, in a statement. “Experiencing the brothers back together again is the news that everyone hoped for and we can’t wait to share this intimate and compelling documentary special with all of our customers.”
More details about the documentary, including a premiere date, will be announced later.

The new documentary series Demi Lovato: Dancing with the Devil showcases the people who mean the most to Demi, including her head of security and chief of staff, Max Lea. The YouTube original series is an honest look into the ups and downs of Demi's life and career. It captures everything from her struggle with an eating disorder to her almost-deadly overdose in 2018. In the series, Demi described Max as "someone that protects me like his own daughter." So, who is the man that Demi trusts with her life? Here's what we know about security head Max Lea.
In episode two of Dancing with the Devil, Demi's former assistant, Jordan Jackson, recalls working with Max Lea to save Demi's life. Jordan went to pick up Demi for a doctor's appointment when she found her in bed, unable to wake up. Jordan's first thought was to call Max Lea, Demi's head of security. Max told his staff to go into Demi's room and tell him what they saw, and he instructed them to put her on her side and clear her throat. Thanks to Max and Jordan, an ambulance was able to reach Demi in time to save her life. Max and Demi sat together while he told his side of the story, exhibiting the close bond that they share.

Max Lea is a seasoned security expert. Before working with Demi Lovato, he was Brittany Spears' personal security specialist on her Femme Fatale tour in 2011. After that, he started his own security company called Black Box Security (via Newsweek). After four years he ventured into music management and became chief of staff at a company called Philymack. In 2016, he founded Safehouse Security Solutions to provide VIP security for stars, including current judge on The Voice Nick Jonas, and Joe Jonas's band DNCE. By the time he started working with Demi, he had added Safehouse Transport to his roster, which combines protection and personal transport services. He is originally from Australia and provided security for hotels like the Shangri-La in Sydney.
Tumblr media
In 2018, Max made the news after Demi detailed a prank that some fans felt went too far. Demi told about the time she hired a "woman of the night" to visit Max at his hotel room unannounced when they were staying in Las Vegas. Max "freaked the f--k out," according to Demi. Fans at the time found it distasteful and inappropriate, and Demi later apologized. It didn't seem to tarnish their relationship though. In Dancing with the Devil the director asked Max if he ever thought about giving up on Demi. He answered, "I couldn't, and no, not once." Max doesn't usually post his clients on Instagram, but he's made a few exceptions for Demi, including the sweet post below where he wrote "We’ve been through it! And back again. Love you D."
Max and Demi have a special bond that may be showcased even more in upcoming episodes of Dancing with the Devil. He has kept her safe while providing her with the love and support that so many have denied her. While many of Demi's staff have had to move on, including her former choreographer, Max has stayed through thick and thin. In many ways, Max Lea has been a life-saver for Demi, literally.
