Greetings one and all and a Happy New ew Year 🎃😁🎉 For my first review of the year, I'd like to visit not only one of the best Sci-fi Horrors films ever made but also easily one of the best remakes ever made. 1978s Invasion of the Body Snatchers, a remake of the 50s classics of the same name from 1956. "Starring Donald Sutherland who begins to suspect the people around him are not what they seem to be, in finding the truth it becomes more horrifying than he could possibly imagine and inroles in a fight for survival, in which the future of humanity could be a risk". The original film is one of my favourite 50s Sci Fi horrors, which terrified me as a child, and I reviewed last year. So incoming into the remake I was nervous, even though I've heard huge praise from its reviews and its cult following. Overall this film was absolutely brilliant, with the employing of gritty camerawork and evocative and erring sound effects, the film is a powerful remake that expands upon themes and ideas only lightly explored in the original. It's unnerving, no doubt, but with a strong cast performance also there's a touch of humor courtesy Leonard Nimoy and Jeff Goldblum, The film is able to hold the horror at bay long enough for all hope to slip away, which is shown in its shocking twist. (no spoilers) Easily lives to its expectations of one of the best remakes and Sci-fi Horrors made, chilling, well made and great effects and concepts.
