Mr Myers is back once again and is very happy with a new 4k Blu Ray 😁😁😍😍 the long awaited 4k restoration release of the British cult classic horror film Dog Soldiers directed by Neil Marshall. Easily one of my favourite British horrors films with a phenomenonal well acted and written cast, and great practical effects, humor and heart, this film has it all 😁👍👌 ~Mr Myers #horrormovies #new4kmovie #britishhorrorfilms #horroractionmovies #dogsoldiers2002 #neilmarshalldirector #seanpertwee #kevinmckidd https://www.instagram.com/p/ChcgarSsxdO/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Mr Myers is back once again and After months of speculation, hopefullness and bad taste for the fans the 5th entry of the predator franchise PREY is finally here to stream. Set in the Comanche Nation 300 years ago, "Prey" is the story of a young woman, Naru, a fierce and highly skilled warrior. She has been raised in the shadow of some of the most legendary hunters who roam the Great Plains, so when danger threatens her camp, she sets out to protect her people. The prey she stalks, and ultimately confronts, turns out to the Predator. In coming into this film I was hopeful, but my concern still remained, overall PREY is a predator film done right... In most cases. It still has its issues but its not really enough to hurt the film in its entirety, PREY does brings a fresh take to the franchise, with its setting and direction, as being noted as a prequel to the 80s original it gives off a familiar vibe, but also new approach to the predator lore and its portrayal. The pacing however seems a bit off in some cases, as though we've skipped a good 15 minutes of film or so, but this can be considered a benefit as it doesn't dwell on any explanation, and more or less goes straight into the suspense and thrills. Through performances our lead actress Amber Midthunder delivers a strong quality in her character, although not much is really explored in her character apart from wanting to be a hunter herself and the means to Prove it, this can be said to the rest of the characters, not much to go on unfortunately and quite 2 dimensional. Overall PREY is a fun film, issues and all its still one of the better entries of the Predator franchise and hopefully we could see a continuation in this new take. 7/10 ~ Mr Myers #horrormoviesreviews #movietime🎥🎬 #prey2022 #predatorfranchise #moviereview https://www.instagram.com/p/Cg4toKyMFr_/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Today were celebrating 20 years of Neil Marshall's debut film Dog Soldiers. The film introduced us to rag tag bunch of squaddies facing werewolves in the Scottish Highlands. With a stunning cast, pitch perfect script and some amazing practical effects, Dog Soldiers remains a genre classic and one of the best loved British horrors. ~Mr Myers. #dogsoldiers2002 #neilmarshalldirector #seanpertwee #britishhorrorfilms #horrormovies https://www.instagram.com/p/CdYjARRM65V/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Mr Myers is back once again with another classic, this going all the way back to the first definitive wolfman film, 6 years prior to Lon Chaney Jr's 40s masterpiece. Universal's werewolf of London 1935 Starring Henry Hull. While in Tibet researching a mysterious flower that purportedly takes its strength from the moon, botanist Wilfred Glendon (Henry Hull) is bitten by a strange creature. Back in London, Glendon becomes absorbed in his research of the plant, and is annoyed by the appearance of fellow scientist Dr. Yogami (Warner Oland), who reveals that the plant is the only known temporary antidote for werewolves. Glendon remains skeptical until the next full moon, when he undergoes a startling transformation. Overall the film blends new components of the werewolf 'legend' with some science-fictional elements, the film definitely creates the blueprint to where universal explores further in the wolfman 1941 with Lon Chaney Jr, but it's quite unique and fresh too establish the folktale in a more scientific background. This movie is a fun old horror flick. Its a nice late-night watch. It's not scary but it's entertaining. The acting is consistent with the time period it was made, and the makeup effects are well thought out, and unique in creating a first attempt of a wolfman, which again was explored further and excelled in the 41s adaptation. A fun flick throughout, as expected at times it can be a slow burn but presented with a few good thrills. Final rating is a 5.5/10 ~Mr Myers #horrormoviesreviews #movietime🎥🎬 #horrormovies #werewolfoflondon1935 #universalhorrormovies https://www.instagram.com/p/Cc3GiVPM1QA/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Every director has a beginning, even if the film is as infamous as this one. Directing legend James Cameron made his official debut in 1982 in the sequel to Joe Dante’s classic horror, in Piranha 2 the spawning.... Wow what a film 😂👏 after finally viewing this I can see why for many years Cameron disowned the rights. After watching the original last weekend I finally had a go and try and "legendary" sequel, my verdict is... the film should only be viewed for curiosity only, the film falls into the category of its so bad its just bad, but also hilarious in some of its segments just in its overall silliness due to effects of the flying Piranha ✈️🐟 Due to its reputation its been regarded in some ways as a cult classic, and in some respects I can agree, however, if you're a fan of the original I'd stay clear of this film as it brings nothing but unintentional comedy plus not noticing after 20min that acting legend Lance Henrikson is in the film was a bigger mind blown moment 😱 Thankfully Cameron went on to better works but with the troubled production, I don't hold any blame on this film upon him, but it's also nice to hear that in recent years Cameron did officially call Piranha 2 his first film. Overall dumb in its entirety but if you're up for a laugh it's worth a one time view. Final verdict is a 3/10 ~Mr Myers #horrormoviereviews #horrormovies #moviereviewtime #piranha2thespawning #jamescameron #movietime🎥🎬 #lancehenriksen https://www.instagram.com/p/CcTDSyWMa0t/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Mr Myers is back once again with a special review in mind, while halfway through the first season I thought I'd give my opinion of this acclaimed series based on Alfred Hitchcocks classic thriller "Psycho". "Bates Motel" 2013-2017 After the death of her husband, Norma Bates played brilliantly by Vera Farmiga relocats herself and her shy teenage son Norman Freddie Highmore to make a new life and begin renting out an old motel along side the motorway. During the series run we witness Normans mental health slowly becoming more and more dangerous whilst Norma struggles to protect her son from those around them. Right away as a viewer I realised that the series although based on the original film is not a prequel, and in return I found that a blessing as the series would not be restricted by the lore of the original and the eventuality of certain events that would need to be shown. Settled in a more contemporary approach to the series gives it a clean slate if you will, and allows more freedom in the writing and character development. The primarily focus on the series is of the relationship between Norman and Norma and how far they'd both go to protect and keep each other for themselves. Performances wise both protagonists are brilliant, Freedie is absolutely brilliant as a young Norman Bates who's mannerisms are practically on Parr with Anthony Perkins, whilst Vera portrayals is a sort of Jekyll and Hyde, both the caring mother but also someone who could be capable of anything. Overall the series at the moment is engaging, whilst very respectful on the original source material it is a blessing and a freshness to have a completely different approach to these characters and in the eventual outcomes will most likely be more appropriate towards these interpretations. Engaging and thrilling and a well casted series. ~Mr Myers. #horroreview #batesmotelseason1 #alfredhitchcockpsycho1960 #horrortvseries #verafarmiga #freddiehighmore #batesmoteltvshow #thrillertvseries https://www.instagram.com/p/CbX9uQEs3zX/?utm_medium=tumblr

What was in the deep, is now in the shallows 🦈🦈 Nancy Adams (Blake Lively) travels to a secluded beach. Despite the danger of surfing alone, Nancy decides to soak up the sun and hit the waves. Suddenly, a great white shark attacks, forcing her to swim to a giant rock for safety. Left injured and stranded 200 no yards from shore, the frightened young woman must fight for her life as the deadly predator circles her in its feeding ground. After experiencing the Shallows I was quite surprised on how much I enjoyed it, taking out the context, the film attempts to bring a depth a realisim towards the physics of the shark, through most part of the film anyway. The finale however falls into the OTT cliché on how to kill the shark. Apart from that, the machanics feel like a real animal and not a cgi creation. Performance wise, Blake Lively is practically the only character within the film, so it's easy to say she carrys the film well and brings a great weight to her character Nancy, we learn about her character and drives and its quite easily to bond and relate to her. Overall the film has its flaws particularly due to its finale but its not enough to ruin the film, with a strong female lead, great cinematography and fantastic cgi (most part) of the shark itself. The Shallows is a nice surprise to view on a Sunday night. 7/10 ~Mr Myers #moviereviews #movietime🎥🎬 #moviereviewtime #thrillermovies #suspensefilms #theshallows2016 #blakelively #greatwhiteshark https://www.instagram.com/p/CZ97HZOs7bm/?utm_medium=tumblr

"I like you" the 3 words you don't want to hear from this girl.... One week before his wedding day, Jonah and his groomsmen hit the town for a wild night of club hopping. The night soon takes a twisted turn for the worse when the group is invited to a seedy underground club. After Jonah frees a seemingly imprisoned dancer, he realizes that the woman he released is actually a terrifying, legendary creature that will stop at nothing to claim her chosen mate. 2016's Siren is a feature length spin-off horror, based on the 2012 anthology lost found footage horror film VHS. Siren overall is your typical Sunday night B horror, but still is a surprisingly enjoyable watch, with a rather short runtime it doesn't fall into any unwanted cliché explanations or overbearing, but rather gets straight into the mayhem. With good performances from its main cast, also regarding the over the top performance of Justin Welborn who plays the eccentric Mr Nyx. Siren is a fresh experience that I would personally like to see more of in the character of Lily, and see what other directions could take place. Her design itself is quite unique and very unsettling in her appearance as a demonic succubus a combination of practical makeup and cgi that brings a fresh flair. Even with fimilar concepts and executions, I still found the film to be an enjoyable watch, not the best Horror film to view on a Sunday but I don't regret not watching always good to watch something new for a change, and it would be interesting to see if they could continue with this anthology storytelling. Verdict for Siren is a 5.7/10 ~Mr Myers #horrormoviesreviews #horrormovies #movietime🎥🎬 #siren2016 #moviereviews #horrorreview https://www.instagram.com/p/CZw9iWeMqXq/?utm_medium=tumblr

Mr Myers is back again with a rare find and by chance and interesting and a rather good one in 2014's Spring. Not necessarily a horror, but more of a romantic indie horror story, it has close concepts that remind me of HP lovecraft and aspects of John Carpenter and other various films that regards the physical transformations and combining reality to other worldly concepts. The premise shows an aimless young man (Lou Taylor Pucci) takes an impromptu trip to Italy and becomes involved with an alluring genetics student (Nadia Hilker) however we soon learns she harbors a transformative secret. With Genre elements swirl around them in part fantasy and part science fiction but at the very core of the film is something more complex, effective and doesn't fall into that trap of cliché and horror, but becomes engaging with great performances from both its cast members and wondering of the eventuality. However there are a few corny dialogue sequences but in a sense it's makes it more believable. Special effects are quite good with lots of practical effects for the old purists like myself and some very subtle CGI thrown in for good measure. Overall a very good indie film with very few minor flaws that should not hurt your enjoyment in the slightest. Unconventional and quirky. 'Spring' is the feel-good horror to please gore-hounds and doe-eyed romantics alike. Verdict from me is a 8/10 ~Mr Myers #horrormoviesreviews #moviereviews #movietime🎥🎬 #indiefilmmaking #spring2014movie https://www.instagram.com/p/CZZOK0Os62I/?utm_medium=tumblr

Mr Myers is back once again with another 50s B creature fest.... The Monster that challenged the world. After an earthquake shakes up Southern California it awakens a nest of monsters lurking in the Salton Sea. These bloodthirsty sea snails begin to gobble up anyone who sets foot in the water. But when the creatures move on to land in search of wider hunting grounds, they launch a reign of terror that threatens to spread across the whole country. The Monster that challenged the world is a variant on the 1950s atomic monster movie. It competently, if unremarkably, shuffles the basic tropes established by the beast from 20,000 fathoms (1953) and Them! (1954). By now, other atomic monster movies had started exhausting most of the giant-sized possibilities offered by the animal and insect kingdom and the film’s idea of a giant mollusc seems rather insipid. The film is enjoyable enough, but it is rather daft in comparison to the other classic 50s films the creature designs themselves are rather unique in the visual sense but are rather limited due to the times technology, but in response to this some of the films more suspenseful scenes were made without any effects needed, but rather given the impression. Overall from those who grew up with the atomic age creature fests, this film is rather of lower expectations compared to other films that preceded it and exceeded it, but it still can be seen as a Sunday night B movie. Final verdict is a 5/10 ~Mr Myers #horrormoviesreviews #movietime🎥 #moviereviews #50smovies #50monsters #themonsterthatchallengedtheworld #classicbmovies https://www.instagram.com/thenightmorgue/p/CY1ejtNMnvH/?utm_medium=tumblr

"Time to slay some vampires padre" John Carpenter's Vampires 1998 The master of horror returns brings his unique taste to the vampire legend, starring James Woods as veteran vampire slayer Jack Crow who comes face to face with the known "First" Valak a vampire master who is in search of an ancient artifact that will grant him the power to walk in daylight. Although regarded as a mixed bag towards the fans and an unfortunate box office failure, I personally loved this film, yes you can see that Carpenter's time had long gone, but the film was and still is a fun ride from beginning to end. Woods is basically playing himself mostly, but you can tell that he's enjoying the time on set, which can be said for the rest of the cast, fun comedic dialogue and alot of OTT swearing, John Carpenter's Vampires brings suspense, humour in all the right ways for me as a horror fan, it was great watching the film again as it brings fond memories of laughing and being quite spooked. Not certainly Carpenter's best, but still is a fun watch and easily one of the better contemporary modern vampire films in my opinion. Greetings one and all and a Happy New ew Year 🎃😁🎉 For my first review of the year, I'd like to visit not only one of the best Sci-fi Horrors films ever made but also easily one of the best remakes ever made. 1978s Invasion of the Body Snatchers, a remake of the 50s classics of the same name from 1956. "Starring Donald Sutherland who begins to suspect the people around him are not what they seem to be, in finding the truth it becomes more horrifying than he could possibly imagine and inroles in a fight for survival, in which the future of humanity could be a risk". The original film is one of my favourite 50s Sci Fi horrors, which terrified me as a child, and I reviewed last year. So incoming into the remake I was nervous, even though I've heard huge praise from its reviews and its cult following. Overall this film was absolutely brilliant, with the employing of gritty camerawork and evocative and erring sound effects, the film is a powerful remake that expands upon themes and ideas only lightly explored in the original. It's unnerving, no doubt, but with a strong cast performance also there's a touch of humor courtesy Leonard Nimoy and Jeff Goldblum, The film is able to hold the horror at bay long enough for all hope to slip away, which is shown in its shocking twist. (no spoilers) Easily lives to its expectations of one of the best remakes and Sci-fi Horrors made, chilling, well made and great effects and concepts. Invasion of the Body Snatchers 1978 is a 9/10 ~Mr Myers. #horrormoviereviews #horrormovies #movietime🎬🍿 #invasionofthebodysnatchers1978 #horrorremakeweek #moviereviews #donaldsutherland #philipkaufmanmovie https://www.instagram.com/p/CYW0fZXMdEk/?utm_medium=tumblr

Evil has never tasted so good 🤣 Merry Christmas one and all from Mr Myers and today we'll be looking at Gary Busey's horror masterpiece The Gingerbread Man. With blood and an ancient curse allows an executed killer (Gary Busey) to return as a murderous gingerbread man and begin his murder sprees once again... All I could really say about this movie is WTF 😂😂 after seeing the trailer from YouTube I had to see this movie and wow... With a similar premise to the infamous Jack frost movie (not Michael Keaton) from a resurrected killer, and like Frost this movie is incredible and absolutely horrendous 😂 the acting from all points is incredibly bad to the point of cringing and just the overall notion that this movie exists is mesmerising beyond belief. Run, run, run as fast as you can cause the gingerbread man is coming... Overall Just wow.... Due to this I can't even score the Gingerbread Man but I'll definitely give it a 10/10 for its complete insanity and ludicrously and overall badness 🤣 ~Mr Myers #horrormoviesreviews #moviereviews #movietime🎬🍿 #thegingerbreadman2005 #garybuseyfilm https://www.instagram.com/p/CXtpiQxM1RY/?utm_medium=tumblr

Good evening one and all it is I Mr Myers and today I'd like to do something a bit different today and taking inspiration from Mr Hare's earlier post and talk about special effects artist Tom Woodruff Jr. A legend in the artistry of creature effects and body performance acting. Tom's most famous works have been both in the Predator and Alien franchise, whilst also been the lead alien actor from James Camerons Aliens to Aliens vs Predator Requiem. Tom's career started whilst under the wing of Stan Winston during the production of Aliens, In 1985, Woodruff helped sculpt the Alien Warrior head at Stan Winston Studio and touched up paint on the head in the workshop at Pinewood Studios. Shortly after the Warrior costumes were completed and before filming, Tom stayed late after-hours one night, got into costume, and Richard Landon took the first set of photos of a completed Alien, "without even the benefit of covering the suit in slime as intended for the film." Tom was "more interested in seeing how different body posing could disguise the shape of a man inside the suit than the intended on-screen finished look." In a personal view I find Tom's work and performance acting rather underrated in my opinion, the make up and creature designs are what the fans remember and praise however its Tom presence and skill is what brings us the magic, and rather than rely on heavy CGI, its always glorious to see the old fashion "man in a suit" and Tom is the one of the originals and should be recognised more than he is, and hopefully soon enough we'll see him again on the big screen. A legend taught by another legend ~Mr Myers. #tomwoodruffjr #specialeffectsartist #creatureeffects #stanwinstonstudio #horrorspecialeffects #aliens1986 #alien3 #alienressurection #alienvspredator #aliensvspredatorrequiem https://www.instagram.com/p/CXMJeipMxQT/?utm_medium=tumblr

The Friday the 13th franchise has always been a bit of a mixed experience with me, although I do respect and enjoy some of the films, I never found them as iconic or respectively good to be honest, more like dumb fun, which in truth is were it's strengths lie. During the late 2000s remakes were the top profit in Hollywood in which they remade the top 3 slasher horror classic Halloween, A Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th. And out of the three I personally find Friday the 13th the most enjoyable, reason for being the makers didn't attempt to recreate or reimagine anything, but rather kept the same materials and methods the Friday's franchise is best known for... "bunch of horny teens go to said camp, meet masked killer, get killed in a fun way, one survivor" 😎🤣 The remake splices the first original 3 films, in retrospect but creates its own storyline, but again nothing really original, more or less the same materials seen in previous films. Overall there is nothing really that stands truly out, but again in comparison to the other remakes during the same time, Friday the 13th 2009 is the one I'd rather view on a Sunday night, With fun kills and an awesome Jason 😁 which is indeed my favourite portrayal of the character, Friday is a no brainer but fun watch.
