something something Gustave has frequent nightmares as a result of intergenerational trauma
when Erik wakes one night to Gustave screaming and raving about sideshows and maniacal stagehands, he thinks it’s Phantasma’s influence. He worries he misjudged his son’s readiness to accept the beauty underneath - until Gustave starts dreaming of disfigurements and masks.
He lets himself cry then. He cries for his tragic upbringing now reflected through his son - his beautiful, unblemished son who feels the sting of hands that never touched him and jeers of those he’s never met. He cries for Christine, a victim of her own ghosts - both real and imagined.
He pulls Gustave into his lap, removing his mask and touching their foreheads together - his son’s preferred method of grounding.
“My son - my beautiful son. You are everything your mother ever wanted and everything I never deserved. Never think you are anything but absolutely adored.”

Ficlet Advent Calendar - December 10
Tumblr media
Title: Christmas spirit Fandom: The Phantom of the Opera Characters: Giles AndrÊ, Richard Firmin, Reyer, Carlotta Guidicelli, The Phantom (Erik) Relationships: AndrÊ/Firmin Word Count: 1069 Rating: Teen and up audiences Summary: As Christmas is getting nearer, The Phantom of the Opera decides to add his own touch to the festive decoration of the Garnier Palace. Notes: A little bit of festive crack straight out of the Paris Opera House.
December 10 - Christmas spirit
Dear Directors,
As Christmas is getting near, I have decided to collaborate in the decoration of the theatre to spread out a little Christmas cheer in the Opera Populaire. Keep them intact and nobody gets hurt. You do not want to see any alterations on the Nativity set in the hall, or do you? And, as usual, leave Box 5 empty for me.
I shall remain your obedient servant,
O.G.
Monsieur Giles AndrĂŠ swallowed thickly as he put the letter down. What on earth did the Phantom add to the otherwise tasteful decoration inside the building? His imagination began to run wild and he envisioned cut-off body parts hanging from the pine branches and red tinsels. And how dare he threaten them again? And what did he want to do with the Nativity set? Rumours had it that a few years ago someone stole Baby Jesus and replaced him with a cabbage.
“What is this supposed to mean?” he burst out.
“Don’t worry, André, I checked it,” Monsieur Richard Firmin assured him. “I thought it was going to be something outrageous, but it’s actually some mistletoes only.”
“Mistletoes?” André raised a brow. “Why?”
“No idea,” Firmin shrugged his shoulders. “It’s still better than body parts. Or cabbages.”
“I’m not complaining, I just don’t understand. Mistletoes are not that beautiful. I think he put them up for a purpose other than decoration.”
“Perhaps he was just touched by the Christmas Spirit,” Firmin mused. “He’s human after all.”
“Are you sure about that?”
“Maybe he is a Christmas Spirit himself,” the other director continued. “The Ghost of Christmas That Never Comes.”
“This is not a joke,” André warned him.
“I know. But I think mistletoes are pretty harmless.”
“Well, a few kisses cannot hurt, can they?” André said after thinking about it a little.
At that moment the door opened and Monsieur Reyer stormed into the directors’ office, followed by an enraged Carlotta Guidicelli.
“This has to stop!” the man said.
“Good morning to you, too, Monsieur Reyer,” Firmin greeted him.
“What is it that has to stop?” André wondered.
“Someone hung a mistletoe above my piano, and we cannot start rehearsing because the girls keep kissing me!” he told them, with his moustache trembling with anger under his nose. “On my cheek, of course, but still, it stops us from working!”
“You can go to the other rehearsal room,” Firmin suggested. “Nobody is using that right now.”
“Or we can take the mistletoe down,” Reyer said.
“To have a cabbage instead of Baby Jesus? Thank you, but no.”
“The mistletoes are presents of the Phantom,” André explained.
“Of course,” Carlotta snorted. “Should have known.”
“And what about you?” Firmin asked. “Does the mistletoe stop you from rehearsing a well?”
“No, and that’s the problem! Nobody wants to kiss me!”
Firmin had to press his lips together to suppress his laughter. He could understand the others not wanting to kiss their primadonna – he wouldn’t want to kiss her either, and no mistletoe could make him change his mind.
“Well, according to his letter, there are several mistletoes in the building,” André said, showing her the Phantom’s letter.
“You might get lucky under another one,” Firmin added, and now André had to struggle with laughter. “Just keep on trying.”
“The rules are whoever is standing under the mistletoe can be kissed and not has to be,” Reyer pointed out.
“But what’s the point of mistletoes if nobody wants to kiss me?” Carlotta continued.
“Perhaps they are intimidated by you, Signora,” Reyer said.
“We suggest talking to Signor Piangi about the case,” André said.
“Unless Monsieur Reyer volunteers,” Firmin added.
“My apologies, but I’d rather not,” he shook his head. “I don’t think I’m worthy.”
Nice save, Firmin thought to himself.
“Indeed, you’re not,” Carlotta said then she left the office with a huff and her head held high.
“We’ll continue in the other room, then,” Reyer said and he left as well.
“Harmless, huh?” André asked once they were alone again.
Truth to be told, The Phantom didn’t place the mistletoes just for the Opera Populaire’s delight: he put them up because he wanted to kiss somebody. Christine Daaé, the young and talented soprano. However, he wasn’t lucky. Christine either managed to avoid standing under the mistletoes, or she was always with company. The young ballerinas and the chorus girls soon realised that moving in groups could prevent the men asking them for kisses, even if they were underneath a mistletoe, so Christine was always walking around with Meg Giry or with some other girls from the choir. The Phantom didn’t give up; he continued hanging mistletoes in other places inside the building as well: such as above the door leading to the stage, or some more on the corridors (including one near the directors’ office), and he kept his eyes open.
The cast and the crew got used to the mistletoes within a few days; some of them even forgot that they were there. The Nativity set in the hall remained intact as well: no-one touched Baby Jesus or any other figurine either. One Day, when Monsieur Firmin came to work, he stopped in the corridor to take of his thick, leather gloves, when Monsieur AndrĂŠ stepped out of the office.
“Good morning, Giles, how are you?” Firmin greeted him with a smile.
André opened his mouth to reply, but he noticed the mistletoe hanging down from the ceiling, right above his co-director’s head.
“What is it?” Firmin asked, seeing his eyes going wide.
AndrĂŠ pointed upwards, and when Firmin saw the mistletoe, he just shrugged his shoulders.
“I don’t mind if you don’t either,” he said. He’d rather kissed André than Carlotta.
“Alright then,” the other man said.
The Phantom, who was hiding in the walls, watching the situation unfold, couldn’t believe his eyes: he had just witnessed the two directors kiss each other.
“Wow,” André mumbled when their lips parted.
“This was much better than I thought it would be,” Firmin admitted.
“Definitely,” André agreed. “Do you think we can run into each other under a different mistletoe?”
“I hope so. Just don’t tell my wife.”
“And to mine.”
They both laughed then Firmin went into the office and AndrĂŠ headed to the rehearsal room. Hiding in the walls, the Phantom of the Opera had to admit that for this kiss only it was worth putting up those mistletoes.

That’s Mine
Another Guy/Honey ficlet for the girl who can’t seem to write a full fic for these two to save her life
—
I glanced up from my laptop upon hearing the apartment door open. “I’m home!” Guy called at the same time I heard the thumping of him literally kicking his shoes off at the door.
“Welcome back,” I said flatly, going back to my report.
I could hear him groan with the several popping noises that came with him cracking his back. “I’m gonna shower,” he announced as the front door shut.
“Careful. Kayla left a makeup bomb in the bathroom,” I warned.
“How does she even do that? Like we should not be finding powdered foundation in the bathtub of all places. A little falling off the palette or brush into the sink is one thing but like the bathtub?” He appeared in the doorway of my room and leaned against the frame on one shoulder. “I don’t get it. I’ve worn some makeup in my day but I’ve never been that messy with it.”
I grunted and shrugged.
Guy sighed dramatically. “Not in the mood to talk, honey?”
I shot him a withering glare. “Go get in the shower before I punt your ass into the bathroom and bar the door. I’m trying to work.”
He smirked lasciviously. “If you bar a door that locks from the inside and swings inward, you’d have to be in the bathroom with me.”
I raised a brow. “I’d figure it out. Go away.”
He winked with a click of his cheek and pushed off the doorframe, vanishing down the hall.
I went back to my paper.
Apparently I got really sucked into it because I didn’t even process that I heard the shower start and stop a few minutes later. Hell, I barely even processed Guy singing showtunes while he was in it.
I vaguely heard the bathroom door creak open on that ungodly loud hinge I still needed to oil (the landlords had promised to do it months ago and never had and I was getting sick of it), while Guy continued his one-man-show of Phantom of the Opera. But I ignored all of it. Guy’s singing was a constant in the apartment and I’d just learned to tune it out.
When the essay was done, I submitted it and finally stood up, wincing as my knees popped.
With a heavy sigh, I left my room.
Guy spun around in the kitchen almost instantly. In his favorite hot pink “Kiss the Cook” apron that had been a gag gift from his siblings that he’d actually loved. “There’s my favorite person!”
I grunted. Then froze. “Hang on a second here,” I said, folding my arms. “Hm. Black T-shirt way too long and wide in the arms, logo for a band you don’t listen to poking out from under the top of the apron. Coincidentally matching the one that went missing from my things after a load of laundry a few weeks ago…” As I spoke, I undid the neck loop of the apron and let the top fall away from his torso.
He chuckled nervously, ears and neck turning blotchy and red. “Heh-heh… uh…”
“Guy Erikson, that’s my shirt,” I snapped.
“Whaaat? I don’t know what you’re talking about. Obviously this is mine. See how it just fits me perfectly—ow, ow! Okay okay you don’t have to pinch I get it I get it—damn!” He pouted as I let go of his shoulder. “Can’t I just borrow it for the rest of tonight though? It’s so soft. It’s not my fault that you have the comfiest shirts on the planet!”
“Give it back. Now.”
He sighed dramatically and stripped it off, hurling it at me with all the grace and power of a newly-hatched bird. “Fiiine. You loveless, joyless buzzkill.”
“Thieving parasite,” I retorted, taking the shirt back to my room and chucking it into my hamper.
“Just for that, I’m not including you in my dinner plans.” He whipped the apron back up over his torso and started fixing the neck loop.
“I never asked you to. And I’m going out tonight anyway.”
His head snapped up to look at me. “What?! With who?”
I raised a brow. “Does it matter?”
Guy spluttered. “Oh. Well. I, uh—no, obviously. It’s just—you know what? Never mind.” He turned back to the stove and went back to preparing his pasta.
I snorted. “It’s my stupid reading group for my upper level class. There’s gonna be like five people there. It’s not a date. Don’t wait up for me, honey,” I said sarcastically before ducking back into my bedroom and slamming the door.
I picked the band shirt out of the hamper and held it up to my nose. Curious.
It definitely smelled like Guy.
A small grin tugged at the corners of my mouth. I folded the shirt and set it on my desk. “You know what? I’ll wash it later,” I muttered to myself.

Where’s the phantom of the opera AU/vague au (aby of the movie/book versions, but probs more realistically the robert englund version) My noseless men lovers really are slow on this one
UGH i could not agree more!! especially the version you're proposing where his disfigurement was born of a deal with the devil (liiiike a vault tec contract) and he goes from well-meaning performer to jaded, cynical recluse.
at least until he crosses paths with a promising ingenue with connections to his sordid past and an earnest drive to do good and understand the truths of an unfair world.
making grabby hands and begging fandom for art of coop in a mask and suit pleasssseeee i'll write u a ficlet to go with it 😭😭😭 this could easily be x reader or vaultghoul. lucy would make for the MOST charming christine!! and give even sarah brightman a run for her money in a contest of giant doe eyes lmao

1990 Phantom Fic Recs
Since the lovely @wheel-of-fish's stream of the 1990 TV production of POTO, I have been unable to stop thinking about Cherik and know there are countless others who likely feel the same.
Perhaps the only thing more tragic than the ending is the fact that there's so few 1990 fics! And among those tagged many of them take some character inspiration but don't really use the unique premise and setup and characters provided in the Y/K miniseries. So I've decided to compile this list of a few of my favourites! Enjoy!
what i would best like to see by queeenciri
A much gentler and happier picnic unmasking, where Christine reacts a little differently! I love the character work in this fic; the thoughts and emotions of the characters feel so real, and it really breaks down their motivations.
Together We Dream by Anonymous
This one is brand new and I'm in love with the prose and writing style of it! An extra conversation between Erik and Christine, one that could fit into canon or be a turning point. Christine reflects on some similarities between them, and it leads to this emotional conversation with angst and joy entwined gorgeously.
How Deep the Bullet Lies by oprhan__account
This is more of a hurt/comfort and whump fic, where Erik survives the ending of the miniseries. It's mainly him processing the events of the show and musing on what comes next, and does have a ending that is pointing towards things improving! Currently listed as chapter 1/? , but it's still worth reading as a fantastic exploration of an intriguing concept.
Sunflowers by CottagecoreCandlelight
Incredibly fluffy E/C, where Christine gifts Erik some sunflowers. Filled with the adorable shyness and sweetness that this couple has, and I'm in love with the visual image of 1990 Erik and his bouquet of sunflowers. They suit him very well!
Understatement by BrendaDaaeDestler
Erik takes Christine on their first date together! Fluff including a candlelit dinner and slow dancing. This is an AU where Gerard is willing to set up such a date, but the main focus is the budding romance between Erik and Christine.
A Magical World by pippa-writes
This is actually a collection of four ficlets! They're mostly canon compliant, and range from Christmas fluff to Christine regretting the picnic unmasking. The first one is even a Phillipe centric look at Christine's grief post canon (unfortunately with the canon ending), which I find quite unique and fascinating.
RĂŞver by trace-of-rouge
Somewhat tragic and angsty one shot, this is Erik musing on the nature of dreams and his feelings for Christine. It's a very good short character study, and I really enjoy the insight into Erik's thoughts.
The Strange Case of Monsieur Belladova by NPennyworth
If I constantly reread my own story then I'm allowed to put it on my own phic rec list, and I am seriously quite proud of how this one turned out! I wanted to explore a happier AU where Erik gets to just work at the opera house; this is written from the perspective of the opera company as they debate whether to say anything about the mask, but it seems rude to point it out when nobody else has. Mostly humor and fluff, with background E/C.

tap tap tap. is this thing on?
hi hi! it feels so weird to be posting on here after lurking. after forever dwelling in the cesspits of this app, i've finally decided to make an attempt at making some friends! especially ones into the same things as me.
a little bit about myself. my name is everette, i use he/she/it, and I'm a lesbian! i also answer to eve and evie! if it wasn't incredibly obvious, i have autism, and my hyperfixation just so happens to be everyone's favorite silly band: ghost <3
tags i plan on using :
#eve masterlist (all of my posts, archived.)
#eve makes (sims 4 content)
#eve ghosts (ghost content)
#eve rambles (unorganized, miscellaneous rambles)
#eve writes (prompts, ficlets, headcanons, anything i decide to write)
#eve answers (!! exactly what it says! i answer!!)
more may be added!
my interests ; ghost, the magnus protocol & archive, i have no mouth and i must scream, contemporary horror lit, j.c leyendecker, arcane, bg3, dbh, saw, debate, web design, the romantics, chappell roan, the romantics, ethel cain, tyler the creator, musical theater, especially cats and phantom of the opera. definitely more, but those are the basics!!
this is also an official call for literally any ghost fans. i desperately need more friends into ghost. being into a 'satanic' swedish rock band in the deep south is hard, y'all :(.

Here's a fem!shuake ficlet because I have an oddly specific agenda to push:
One step into Sae’s palace, a gargantuan casino dripping in gold and neon, and the threshold is officially breached. It’s time for Akechi to see how the Phantom Thieves really operate for herself. It’s time for the real performance to begin, ringing false even down to the physical manifestation of her spirit. She’s not lurking in the dark today. It’s just another stage.
It’s been a while since she wore the seifuku. Shocking white material with matching red collar and pleated skirt. The opera-length gloves and tall grey boots with a red heel. The golden bows. The red mask. She’d forgotten how much she liked it.
She knows all the Thieves are watching. Every last eye is trained on her. They want to know the shape of her heart. It’s too bad for them, this is only the outer shell. She’s expertly hidden all the sharp points beneath a beautiful candy coating.
“Aw yeah! Time to fight evil by moonlight!” Futaba yells with an impish grin.
Ann giggles into her hand. “It’s really cute!” She’s a terrible actress, so she must mean it.
“I think it suits me rather well,” Akechi smiles. She scans the rest of the Thieves for their reactions, from Makoto’s tired smile to Ryuji’s slack-jawed ogling, and inevitably settles on Kurusu’s unreadable stare.
Kurusu pulls her hands out of her pants pockets just long enough to send Akechi a silent, red-gloved thumbs-up. What the fuck is that supposed to mean?
Well, it doesn’t matter. They don’t need to know how important it is to her. They don’t need to know how the Sailor Senshi are the pinnacle of strong, righteous heroes. Beautiful and powerful. Fighting with everything to win. Pristine like the light of the full moon. She couldn’t imagine such a hero looking like anything else.
But it’s “cute.” It’s “sexy” with a universal tolerance. If it’s a shallow caricature of perfection they want to see, it’s a shallow caricature of perfection they’ll find. It’s exactly what’s expected of the brilliant and demure Detective Princess. Her own feelings have no bearing at all.
“So, when you fight do you shout ‘Persona Prism Power!’ or what?” Futaba suddenly asks.
Of fucking course not, Akechi doesn’t say. “I’m afraid not.”
“Aww,” she pouts. “That would’ve been cool.”
She doesn’t understand Futaba at all. “Aha, sorry to disappoint you.”
“You should try it out. I bet it’ll give you a stat boost.”
Not a chance. “Thank you. I’ll keep that in mind.”
.
[Also I put way too much thought into this but the end card of her All-Out Attack would be the Sailor Venus pose. Twirl and all. Thank you.]

I actually wrote a "Phantom of the Opera" story around this Halloween tradition. It's part of a collection of ficlets around 19th century Halloween traditions, but this one revolves around the tradition that you hold up a candle to a mirror on Halloween and you're supposed to see the man you are to marry. If you see a skull you will die before you are wed.
All Hallow's Ball on AO3
All Hallow's Ball on FF.net
Christine attends a Halloween Ball hosted by Raoul's female cousins. They are so excited to meet the opera singer their cousin is so enamored with, they steal her away to include her in their Halloween mischief.

I don't know if you do scenarios but if you do may I have one where Erik's female s/o gets flirted with by a guy in front of him and Erik gets jealous while his s/o is oblivious that she's being flirted with and ends up having to calm Erik down once she either realizes or is told? (If you don't want to I understand its kinda alot but if you do thank you!)
Here you go darling anon (I hope you see this)! I am so sorry it took so long! I hope this is what you were looking for and I hope you enjoy it!
Pairing: Erik Destler (Phantom) x fem!reader
You felt him press up behind you, a hand coming to rest possessively on your hip.
His touch, as public and dominating as it was, makes you blush.
Not only had he stepped out of the shadows, revealing himself to the small group of people in which you were standing, but he had just shown, just told, everyone in front of you that you were ‘his’.
You try to ignore his hand on your hip as you continue to talk with the orchestra conductor about one of the pieces for the upcoming opera. The score for the opera had been written by Erik and you, over the course of the past year, had fallen into the position of being his spokesperson. The musicians performing his compositions found it easier, less frightening in all reality, to talk to you, rather than the infamous ‘Phantom’.
“Mademoiselle, if you feel that is the best solution, we shall try it.” The conductor says, his tone portraying the doubt he felt.
Erik speaks before you could, his voice dark and rough. “The madame has already told you that it was. You shall not question her, is that understood?” He doesn’t allow for the man to say anything else as he twines your hand in his and leads you away.
His steps, long and heavy, have you rushing to keep up.
“Amour, is something the matter?” You ask hesitantly.
He does not respond for a few moments before whirling around to face you, his cape dramatically flying out behind him.
“That insolent man was enamored with you and trying to gain your affections.” His face, the uncovered part you could see, is twisted in frustration.
Your brow wrinkles in confusion. “Monsieur Bonheur?” Erik gives a tight nod of his head. “Erik, mon amour, he was discussing an issue he had encountered with a section of the music and wanted to hear my opinion.”
He continues to glare at you, making his disbelief of your words evident.
You step closer to him, reaching up a hand to cup the part of his face hidden behind his mask.
“Erik, it does not matter to me because he does not matter.” You pause, making sure you have his attention before continuing. “Only you matter to me. You are the only man who I notice, whose affection I see.” You bring your lips to him, giving him a gentle kiss.
“Now I remember a certain someone promised he would share his newest work with his biggest admirer.” You say, a cheeky grin on your face as you pull him through the tunnels towards the large cavern the two of you called home.

Pt. 1 | Pt. 2
Shorter Part 3, sorry y’all 😭
“Does this have to do with the rose?” Dustin asks them as soon as they are alone in the car. ‘Damn,’ Steve thinks, ‘I should’ve dropped you off first.’
“What do you know about the rose?” Steve asks, trying to sound nonchalant.
“I know it’s from his secret admirer.”
“You know about that?”
“Of course I do, Steve, he tells that story to everyone who will listen.” Dustin says as if it’s common knowledge.
“So who are your theories? I know you’ve got them.” Steve says
“I have no clue.” Steve looks at him confused “I really don’t. I even told Eddie that we could figure it out if we saw the note but he just shook his head and went back to grinning that goofy grin he had.”
“…And that’s bad?”
“Well no, I just figured he’d want help figuring it out, but that’s not the weird part about it all. He didn’t even have everything set up when we got there.”
Steve gives Dustin a confused glance, trying to keep his eyes on the road in front of him.
“Eddie normally gets there super early to set everything up, but even by time Lucas got there just before we were about to start, all of Eddie’s DM stuff was still in his bag. Literally only the tables and his throne were pulled out where they were supposed to be. He just kept staring at that damn rose with that lovestruck look on his face.”
“Hey, language! But yeah, that is weird? What? Don’t look at me like that, I’ve been around you all long enough to know that’s out of character for him..he loves that game.” Steve chuckles to himself, thinking about the party’s collective confused faces at Eddie’s soft one. “Alright, doofus, this is you. Tell your mom I say ‘Hi’.”
Dustin rolls his eyes and shuffles out the car door and up the drive.
Steve waits until he’s safely inside before backing out, and heading home.
‘holyshitholyshitholyshitholyshi—‘ Steve’s brain played on a loop, his face splitting into a grin.
——————
The (now) third time Eddie "hears" from his secret admirer is definitely not when he was expecting. It kind of makes sense, if his secret admirer really is into him still he'd know that Eddie plays at the Hideout on Tuesday nights. But if he's being honest with himself, the rose flung up on stage while they were still drowned in spotlight was the second most surprising thing of the night. Actually, make that third.
First was the size of the crowd. Being accused of a ritualistic murder does have one benefit then, it has a tendency to make you seem more metal than you might actually be (especially within the metal community). The dingy little bar was actually packed tonight. So many people were there to see Eddie and his bandmates that it was the start of his nervousness. And Eddie never gets nervous about playing, it’s like breathing to him.
Secondly (and the second reason for Eddie to be nervous that night) was that Steeeeve Harrington himself was there to see him play. Him along with Buckley AND Nancy Wheeler had even dressed up for the occasion, pulling out as much black and grungy looking pieces from the backs of their wardrobes as they could find. Eddie swears Wheeler is wearing one of the old band tees Robin stole from him and Steve is wear-holy fuck. HOLY FUCK. Steve Harrington is wearing his (His! Eddie Munson’s!) battle vest. How the fuck he managed to keep it is beyond him but…yep. Eddie’s vest looks just as good on Steve now than it did in that upside-down hellscape.
Only a second had gone by in the time it took Eddie to process all of this before the lights go down and the spotlight is blinding him to everything beyond the stage.
“Get your head in gear, Munson, you’ve got a whole bar full of people to blow away… shit” Eddie mumbles to himself before stepping up to the mic.
And of course, no matter his surprise or nervousness about anything (or anyone) in the crowd that night, the show goes off without a hitch. He’s saying his goodbyes to the crowd as they cheer, holler, and whistle for them, some people are even throwing things. A couple of coasters with phone numbers scrawled on them are frisbee’d onto the stage around him, one (1) singular pair of panties (wtf this is insane), and from his right, just before the lights come back up in the bar, a single red rose tied with a black ribbon.
Time slows down. That’s the only way he could’ve snatched it out of the air the way he did.
He catches it and the crowd lets loose a few wolf whistles. Eddie grins so wide his face hurts. “Thank you guys so much, we’ll be here next week!” he jeers and lifts the rose in his hand in the air like he’s showing it off. The lights finally come up, and Eddie looks directly toward where the rose came from, trying to see if he recognized any of the faces. The only face he recognizes is Steve’s, off a good bit to the left from where the rose came at him, and who is also looking around for who it would’ve come from. Steve looks up at Eddie, and shrugs, he didn’t see anything either.
‘Of course he’s going to act like he didn’t see anything if he’s the one who threw it.’ Eddie’s brain helpfully supplies.
Nope. NOPE. Not going there, that’s so impossible. Steve was a good friend, even if he was blissfully unaware of the affect he had on Eddie.
Eddie shrugs back at Steve before turning back to the guys and helping them pack up their stuff.
“What does this one say?” Gareth asks him when they’re lugging the last of the equipment off the stage.
“Ermph durnup.” Eddie mumbles around the rose stem in his mouth. He sets the amps he was carrying at the back door to be loaded into his van (Which Steve was so graciously helping with). Eddie spits the rose out into his hand as Steve comes back into the doorway. Now ALL of them waiting on Eddie to read out the note. Even Robin and Wheeler have come backstage to watch them work. “Haven’t read it yet.”
“What’s happening now?” Nancy asks, confused. ‘Was she really never around during any of the re-tellings of this story?’ Eddie thinks to himself
“My secret admirer threw this to me as we were wrapping up our set.” Eddie waggles his eyebrows at the older Wheeler “I tried to see who it was, but by the time the lights came back on and I could actually see past the stage, the crowd was already thinning out.”
“They probably didn’t want to be recognized just yet? Even I looked around as soon as I could see again, but yeah, everyone had started dispersing.” Steve chimed in from the doorway he was leaning against, arms crossed across his chest. Damn were his arms always that huge?
“Uh_uh yeah, I do love a guy with a flair for dramatics.” everyone chuckled at that
“Of course you do Munson” Steve smiled at him “Now hurry up and read it!”
“OK, OK, this one says ‘You alone can make my song take flight’.” Eddie sings the line softly, redness creeping up his cheeks as his friends react around him.
“Ew, that’s so gross I’m gonna barf.” - Robin
“That’s so sweet!” - Nancy
“You’re going to be talking about this for weeks aren’t you?” - Gareth
Various well-meaning eye rolls come from the rest of his bandmates as they take care of the amps Steve had been neglecting.
And Steve, Steve was looking at Eddie with the warmest, fondest smile he’d ever seen.
Hmm…

Her performance had been outstanding. The audience clapped for her once her number was finished, and by the looks of it they were blown away. As the red velvet curtains closed, she began to think about the previous singer who had been in her place. It wasn’t a secret that Carlotta practically ran everything in the Opera house during her time there. Whatever she wanted, she would get. Everyone had to bend to her will regardless if they wanted to or not, unless they wanted to risk getting on her bad side. Though things were not like that with Christine. The woman was grateful for being given the chance at one of the main roles, and she accepted it with grace.
The rest of the cast came over to congratulate her on acing her role. Christine smiled warmly, accepting the roses and praises from her colleagues. It felt lovely to be praised like this. Especially when in the beginning she didn’t see herself as worthy enough for a role like that. The woman was pulled from her thoughts however. In the corner of her eye she saw a tall figure cloaked in a black cape, she had never seen this person before. The white mask that adorned the person’s face was captivating. It was then that she realized that she was looking at some mysterious woman, one whom she had never laid eyes on a day in her life. As quickly as her gaze landed on her, she vanished. Had she just imagined that? Nobody else seemed to have seen the strange woman, it confused her.
“I must be tired from the show.” Christine whispered, dusting her dress’ skirt off. “I must go now, I need to rest. Thank you for the gifts, you all did amazing!”
She picked up her skirt and made her way to her dressing room, giggling from hearing the shouts from everyone after her. Once she arrived she closed the door and took a seat at her vanity. Christine glanced at her reflection in the mirror, smiling fondly. Her complexion looked gorgeous in the candlelight, in fact her entire being seemed ethereal. Her white dress complimented her brown curls well, and her makeup was still flawless even after the long performance. Someone else seemed to think so as well. The sudden sound of a woman’s voice startled her, causing a small gasp to slip from her lips. Turning around, Christine laid her eyes on the same woman she saw earlier. She was speechless, but only for a moment.
“You did wonderful tonight, my Angel.”
“Who are you?”
“I think you know very well who I am, dear.” The masked woman replied, her voice rather deep yet soothing.
The gears were working in her head, trying to piece together who this woman was. It was then that it hit her. Her Angel of music. It had to be.
“My father told me about you. My very own Angel of Music!” She continued, “I was wondering when you’d arrive- I was almost afraid you’d never show.”
The Phantom smirked, lightly running her thumb over one of Christine’s thick curls. “I’m here now.” Playing along with what she was saying, she gave her a warm smile. Seeing her wide brown eyes look up into her own did something to her. “Come here.”
Before the woman could protest, she found herself closer to the Phantom than before. Her hand rested on Christine’s waist, giving it a gentle yet reassuring squeeze.
“Care to gift me with a dance?” The woman purred.
She nodded in response. Christine found her hand in the Phantom’s. Her touch was comforting, almost like she had been longing for one similar to it. Christine felt a light tap on her cheek which caused her to look up. There, she was greeted by those blue eyes looking down at her. Her Angel’s aura was very intimidating, however she couldn’t help but be even more drawn in. Everything about her was intoxicating, from her eyes all the way down to her voice. Together, the two women swayed throughout the room. Gentle humming came from her as she gave Christine a twirl. The hums sent vibrations through her chest, which proved to be rather soothing for the the singer. The chatter from outside began to slip into the room, but neither woman had it in themself to care.
She smiled up at Erika, laughing softly as she gave her a quick twirl. This dance was so simple and yet it was bringing her so much joy. They had both met not only a few mere minutes ago and she already didn’t want her to leave. Something about them just seemed..right. As if everything clicked at once in her universe. She knew her Angel felt the same as well, she could tell just by looking at her lighthearted expression. Slowly, she felt the dark haired woman relax; her tense muscles now softened showing she was at ease. How had she even gotten to this point? First singing for dozens of people and now dancing with a rather stunning stranger in her dressing room, it made no sense. Except, she didn’t care if anything made sense.
“Come away with me.” Her sultry voice came out in a whisper. She smiled, proceeding to lift then spin with her. “You’re all that I long for, Christine.”
Christine was silent. She was focusing on her Angel’s touch and voice, this wasn’t the first time she had heard her. Her voice sounded familiar, but she couldn’t place her finger on it. The Phantom placed her back down on the ground, pulling her close against her. The taller woman buried her nose in her hair, inhaling deeply. Her scent was heavenly.
As much as she wanted to stay this way forever she could hear someone knocking on the door. Her Angel went back to the mirror, pushing it to the side. There, a hidden passageway could be seen inside the wall. Where to? Christine didn’t know, and frankly wasn’t sure if she wanted to find out. But seeing the Phantom’s hand extend towards her, beckoning her to come with her was so very tempting. She found herself weak against the temptation.
The woman hesitated, faltering for only a moment before placing her hand in hers.
