Parked in a line on a flight line are, from front to back, a 493rd Tactical Fighter Squadron F-111F, an 81st Tactical Fighter Wing A-10A Thunderbolt II, a 525th Tactical Fighter Squadron F-15 Eagle, an 81st Tactical Fighter Squadron F-4E Phantom II, 496th Tactical Fighter Squadron F-16 Fighting Falcon and an F-5E Tiger II aircraft. 1987.

The Republic of Korea Air Force paid tribute to its remaining F-4E Phantoms at Suwon Air Base on 8 March 2024.

The ceremony was joined by 25 aircraft consisting of F-15K, KF-16, F-16, FA-50, F-5, and F-35A. The F-4 entered service with the ROKAF in 1969 beginning with the F-4D. At one point, ROKAF operated up to around 220 F-4 Phantom variants. Phantoms have guarded South Korean airspace for 55 years.

As of March 2024, only 10 F-4E Phantoms remain, having been mostly replaced by 5th generation F-35A. The remaining aircraft are scheduled to be fully retired in June 2024.

The McDonnell Douglas RF-4C Phantom II (left) is a tactical reconnaissance that is a modification of the F-4C fighter. It's got lots of cameras in the nose that are capable of taking photos in both high and low altitude in both day and night.

The Lockheed F-117A Nighthawk (right), the world's first operational stealth aircraft. The one on display was built and modified specifically for systems testing; once the testing program was over, the plane was given to the museum.

My First drawings of the McDonnell F-4 Phantom II, one of my favorite aircraft.

My special interest in military aviation grew a bit more out of control recently, so I channeled it into art and made TWO attempts at finally drawing the F-4 Phantom II, an American aircraft used for an astounding long period of time as a multi-role fighter. It’s overall design, sounds, NAME AND DESIGNATION, plus the legacy it has left behind- made this Jet into one of my all time favorites.

This top piece was the 2nd attempt (as it says) I made at it, where I used a photo with a pair of F-4s simply in flight- took the closest one and went with it ^_^

This here is the 2nd, and better sketch of the F-4 (an image taken of two F-4s in flight, which I used for ref) had issues with drawing it like this instead of horizontally, ended squishing and Mia-proportioning things.

Hope that once I get out of my current “funk” I can get the motivation to draw some more F-4s and others and then work them into “newer designs”- my biggest goal being that I want to try and incorporate bits of the F-4 and older crafts into some Star Wars/TCW designs in the future! '^_^>
