Phandom Creators Class of 2019

It’s definitely been an interesting, at times very exciting, and at times very slow year in the phandom, and more than ever this year I was so grateful for all of the fanworks people created that kept me engaged in dnp. As I did last year, I wanted to create a list of people who posted a new kind of fanwork in the phandom for the first time this year. I’m sure this doesn’t capture everyone who that applies to, but it’s a lovely collection of art, fic, moodboards, and fanvids that were added to our community this year. I also might be a bit biased towards this particular year of new creators because this was the year I posted my first fic ever!

The list below represents 21 different creators with 26 self-recs! I also made a spreadsheet with all of the information below plus some more, if you find that easier to work with. Thank you so much to everyone who posted some sort of Dan and Phil themed creative content this year, and to all of the people who enjoyed and engaged with them!

And once again, as long as I’m around and there’s new creators I’m happy to keep doing these, so if you’ve been thinking of making some sort of phanwork but haven’t yet, this year seems like a great time to start!

Did you post a phanwork for the first time in 2019?

Last year I made a Phandom Writers Class of 2018 masterlist, compiling self-recs of a bunch of authors who posted phanfic for the first time in 2018. It was a great way to find new fic and authors and celebrate all the very awesome people who write fic for the phandom. This year because of the hiatus all of the lovely fanworks were an even bigger part of my phandom experience than ever, so I wanted to do it again! I thought I’d open it up a bit though, and make a Phandom Creators Class of 2019.

What does that mean? If you posted any sort of fanwork (fic, art, gif, edit, playlist, moodboard, song, fic rec list, etc.) for the first time in 2019 related to Dan and Phil, you can fill out this form and I’ll compile all of the responses in a masterlist with links to creators’ self-rec in early January. 

The form has three sections for fic, art, and other fanworks, and you can submit one of each if you posted more than one kind of fanwork for the first time in 2019. It shouldn’t take more than a minute to fill out, I’m mostly just asking for username, link to the work, title/description, and the date you first posted a phanwork. It will be open until 01/02/20 at 8am EST.

Some FAQs under the cut from last year, but generally I will probably say your fanwork totally counts as long as it’s related to dnp and you posted that kind of content for the first time this year. Feel free to shoot me any questions you have though!

Q: What counts?

A: Pretty much everything as long as it was posted between 1/1/19 and 12/31/19, and this year was the first year you posted this kind of content in the phandom. If you posted something a long time ago in what feels like a different lifetime, but feel spiritually that you’re a part of this year’s creator class, I’m not going to be going back and fact check. The point is to gather together everyone who started engaging in the phandom in a new way this year and celebrate what they made.

Q: What if I’ve written fic (made art/edits/etc.) in other fandoms before, but only started doing that thing in the phandom this year?

A: Perfect! That counts. Fill out the form please!

Q: Does it have to be in English?

A: No, any language is fine! I will post all of the info about it in the language the fanwork is in, to the best of my ability.

Q: What if I haven’t posted anything yet, but I’ve made something and didn’t post it, or plan on posting it before the end of the year?

A: Great! Post it if you want to, however/wherever you want to, and as longs as it’s up before the end of the day on 12/31/19 in your timezone, you can submit it through the form.
