Shiva and Shakti - The Divine Union of Consciousness and Energy
Shiva Shakti Story
The legend of the marriage of Shiva and Shakti is one the most important legends related to the festival of Mahashivaratri. The story tells us how Lord Shiva got married for the second time to Shakti, his divine consort. According to legend of Shiva and Shakti, the day Lord Shiva got married to Parvati is celebrated as Shivaratri – the Night of Lord Shiva.
The Legend goes that once Lord Shiva and his wife Sati or Shakti were returning from sage Agastya’s ashram after listening to Ram Katha or story of Ram. On their way through a forest, Shiva saw Lord Rama searching for his wife Sita who had been kidnapped by Ravana, the King of Lanka. Lord Shiva bowed his head in reverence to Lord Rama. Sati was surprised by Lord Shiva’s behavior and inquired why he was paying obeisance to a mere mortal. Shiva informed Sati that Rama was an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Sati, however, was not satisfied with the reply and Lord asked her to go and verify the truth for herself.
Using her power to change forms, Sati took the form of Sita appeared before Rama. Lord Rama immediately recognized the true identity of the Goddess and asked, “Devi, why are you alone, where′s Shiva?” At this, Sati realized the truth about Lord Ram. But, Sita was like a mother to Lord Shiva and since Sati took the form of Sita her status had changed. From that time, Shiva detached himself from her as a wife. Sati was sad with the change of attitude of Lord Shiva but she stayed on at Mount Kailash, the abode of Lord Shiva.
Later, Sati’s father Daksha organised a yagna, but did not invite Sati or Shiva as he had an altercation with Shiva in the court of Brahma. But, Sati who wanted to attend the Yagna, went there even though Lord Shiva did not appreciate the idea. To her great anguish, Daksha ignored her presence and did not even offer Prasad for Shiva. Sati felt humiliated and was struck with profound grief. She jumped into the yagna fire and immolated herself.
Lord Shiva became extremely furious when he heard the news of Sati’s immolation. Carrying the body of Sati, Shiva began to perform Rudra Tandava or the dance of destruction and wiped out the kingdom of Daksha. Everybody was terrified as Shiva’s Tandava had the power to destroy the entire universe. In order to calm Lord Shiva, Vishnu severed Sati′s body into 12 pieces and threw them on earth. It is said that wherever the pieces of Shakti’s body fell, there emerged a Shakti Peetha, including the Kamaroopa Kamakhya in Assam and the Vindhyavasini in UP.
Lord Shiva who was now alone, undertook rigorous penance and retired to the Himalayas. Shakti took a re-birth as Parvati in the family of God Himalaya. She performed penance to break Shiva’s meditation and win his attention. It is said that Goddess Parvati found it hard to break Shiva’s meditation but through her devotion and the persuasion by sages and devas, Parvati, also known as Uma, was finally able to lure Shiva into marriage and away from asceticism. Their marriage was solemnized a day before Amavasya in the month of Phalgun. This day of union of God Shiva and Shakti is celebrated as Mahashivratri every year.
There is no Shiva without Shakti and yoga is a realization of the unity of all things. That is not to say that everything in tantrik texts is figurative; many describe practices which are said to bring about this realization.

Mahabharata AU—pt.3
Masterlist<– rest of the parts here
"Madhav...your Parthavi needs you..."
Somewhere in the middle of a battlefield, amongst bloodshed, stood a magnificent chariot, where Dwarkadhish Vasudev Krishna was stationed in its seat, the reigns in his hands. Angry tears slipped down from his lotus-shaped eyes down his dusky face. They dare treat His Parthavi like this..?
No, not only His Parthavi, but hundreds and thousands of women were treated like this. What had this world even become?
Protecting his lover was his priority now...
•.───── ❁🏹❁ ───•.•─── ❁🏹❁ ─────.•
"Dusshasan i am telling you, stop this right now!" Karna urged. He couldn't see this continue any longer. So what if he used to be rivals with the Gandivdhari, she was his sister. For a woman, her respect is more valuable than her life.
As the saree was almost stripped off of her body, something happened. A storm inside the hall started suddenly. The flame torches burst into explosions. Everyone looked confused. But Dusshasan didn't stop, he continued pulling. But this saree was not looking like it would strip off of her at all. As much as it was pulled, the more it extended. Courtesy to Krishna...
While the one who stood near the game board, the one whose saree was being pulled, had closed her eyes, letting happen whatever was going to happen. All she wanted feeling now was oblivion, to be unconscious to everything...
"Duryodhan! Stop this right now!" Karna shouted. He never called Duryodhan by his name so the latter was shocked. "Why Mitra Karna!? You never–!"
"I am telling you! JUST STOP IT!–" By then Dusshasan had fell down due to exhaustion and the Vastraharan of his sister had finally stopped. Even though Phalgun was covered in apparels of cloth, everyone else's dupattas, headgears or crowns, as well as jewelleries had fell down.
Krishna had let everyone get disrobed, yet not his Parthavi.
Arjuni now stood there in all her wrathful glory, in the middle of the court, glowing for some unknown reason. Her saree stained with her blood flowing down from her wounds. Conspicuous strains of tears were running down her cheeks from her hawk-like eyes, red from anger yet again.
Raaj Maata Kunti, Maharani Gandhari and Samraggini Draupadi entered just then, terrified at the sight in front of them. What scared them, the two who could see that is, was the blood trails on the floor and the wrathful yet battered form of Kirti in the middle of the whole, vast room.
"A-aryaputri!–" Agnisutaa tried to rush towards her wife but
"No!" Arjuni stepped back, snapping her arm, pointing her finger towards her to stop right there, her booming, velvety voice stopping Draupadi, and scaring the rest. "Do not come near me. No one even dare to come to me, or i will get besmirched..." she was taking deep angry breaths between talking. Vijayaa slowly lowered her arm and steadied herself.
This time, something happened even nore shocking.....

HIDIMBI DEVI TEMPLE
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Manali, a popular destination in Himachal Pradesh, is home to the Hidimbi Devi Temple, also known as the Hadimba Temple. Situated in Manali village, around two kilometres from the town, this temple is famous for the Phaghi fair held in honour of Manu Maharaj on the sixth day of Phalgun.
The temple, an ancient cave dedicated to Hidimbi Devi, is surrounded by lush greenery and Deodar trees, creating a serene atmosphere. Legend has it that during the Pandavas' exile, Bhima, one of the brothers, fell in love with Hidimbi, the sister of the local ruler, Hadimb. Bhima defeated Hadimb, married Hidimbi, and they had a son named Ghatotkacha. When the Pandavas returned from exile, Hidimbi stayed behind to meditate and eventually became a goddess, with the cave as her sacred abode.
The temple, known as Dhoongri temple due to its location in the Dhungiri Van Vihar forest, is a beautiful wooden structure with thatched roofs. While it's only 1.5 kilometres from the town, visiting early in the morning is advisable, especially during the busy summer season when Manali is often congested with traffic.
