Okay, this scene is so important to me and I love it so much, I think about it often when deciding how to write Minako's character in my stories.

Firstly, Minako really is an artist, digitally or analogically. This is a GOOD water paint drawing, especially without an apparent reference? And it shows Minako's someone willing to get her hands dirty to get work done on her own. She could've easily just decided to design something on Photoshop (like she did with Nako Nako we saw in Act 11/12) and print it - the girl probably has the money for it! But no, she chose to hand write and hand draw them to show heart.

Secondly, this shows us so much of Minako's potential and honed skill as a Senshi and leader already. She wasn't just some decorated "Princess" or "Senshi leader", she earned it and have put the work in to be worth her title and meet the needs of her mission. She's strategic, careful and observant, and she tries to understand the enemy's perspective to get ahead of them.

Even Artemis - the mentor and adviser, was blindsided by the often lack of apparent reason for the Dark Kingdom's seemly random targeting of civilians for energy - because it often is quite random, assuming it was pure chance the priest was targeted. Minako responded "But, what if it wasn't?" She wasn't discounting random chance could be the reason, but she was exercising due diligence and wanted herself and Artemis to think deeper just in case there WAS a reason. And then she found one, a plausible and crucial reason for the attack.

Beyond making sure she's covered all grounds, one thing I also love is this shows Minako has really good instincts as a Senshi. This aspect of Minako's characteristic in PGSM made it even more fun and interesting for me to see her as a love interest to Rei, because Venus and Mars really do have skills and intellect that complement each other really well if they communicated well, but could introduce such interesting conflict when they don't. On one hand, we have Rei/Mars whose spiritual abilities help forewarn the team of trouble, but it could easily become something she relies on and could arrive at the wrong conclusion when she doesn't sense anything off. On the other hand, Minako/Venus could piece things together and has a really sharp instinct that she trusts even if she doesn't necessarily have any strong reason behind it. E.g. Minako as how quickly sussed out Mio was a villain, but Rei (and Ami and Makoto) dismissed the warning from Venus because they didn't sense or see anything wrong with Mio. (Too bad Minako wasn't working closely with the team in that episode, coz otherwise it'd be so interesting to see Minako trying to convince everything Mio is sus and everyone thinking Minako's just wary of a new competition in the idol industry. Anyway, now I'm jumping ahead and talking about Act 29 I should stop...)

Last small thing - I love her costume? Even with a general monochrome choice (black long sleeve), Minako needs to sparkle with star patterns. lol

(Minor note about "misa" and "mass". Confirming a church mass is pronounced "misa" in Japanese, thus the katakana here. No clue why though. In Cantonese, a mass is pronounced something like "Lei-Sa", so who knows where the origin comes from that led to such variation of pronunciation.)

There's an unused scene from Act 29 where it's revealed Makoto prefers ice cream, while Ami prefers soft serve.

In the scene the two couldn't agree on which to get together, as they walked down the street.

About the PGSM ideas: thanks! The Naru one was apparently initially inspired by a "write about Naru" fanfic prompt on the sailormoonfans LiveJournal community. (Before I joined Tumblr, Blogger and LiveJournal were my jam). Based on that linked post, I was considering a number of angles for the story and ultimately decided on the "impact on their friendship" idea. Unfortunately, the timing of it (from Act 42 onward) requires Naru to be unconscious a lot to be canon, which makes writing from her POV difficult.

Not sure where the other ideas came from. The initial couple fics are based on Final Act and Special Act respectively and are called "PGSM Another Ending," probably in homage to the Sailor Moon: Another Story video game. The plots so far are as follows:

PGSM Another Ending: Final Act

Tuxedo Kamen is dead, and the very shock of it is enough to transform Usagi into the dangerous Princess Sailor Moon. Only Sailors Mercury, Mars, and Jupiter can save her, and will need to unlock an even greater power to stand any chance. Usagi also must struggle within herself to avoid destroying the world in her grief at Mamoru's death. Can Sailor Moon be saved, or is it too late?

(The "even greater power" would be their Crystal Power/Super forms, probably)

PGSM Another Ending: Special Act

In this sequel to PGSM Another Ending: Final Act, it's now four years later, and Usagi and friends have gone their separate ways. Ami is in med school in America, Rei is training in the mountains of Kyoto, Makoto is dating Motoki and is working to open a florist shop, and a now-revived Minako is back in the idol business. And Usagi? She and Mamoru are about to get married!

But before they can, Mio returns and tries to drive a wedge between the couple. Except this time, the girls can't transform, since Usagi used up the Silver Crystal defeating Beryl and reviving Mamoru and Minako. In the meantime, the Shitennou have revived -- as good guys this time -- and Ami feels her feelings for Nephirite reigniting, while Zoisite shows interest in Minako. Jadeite has no luck with Rei, and Kunzite doesn't even bother. [Or maybe he goes after Ami too?]

But romance will have to wait, now that Mio has returned -- but how will the girls be able to defeat her without their powers? Or is there a way to get them back?

(The second one I guess assumes that the Final Act one will end with a more traditional Serenity vs Beryl confrontation, and that Usagi will revive Mamoru and Minako with the Silver Crystal, and things will go on perhaps minus the time reset seen at the end of Final Act. Also has some Senshi x Shitennou ship stuff)

The "Star Power Stories," the ones about the girls awakening their Star Power henshins, are less developed in plot right now. They are pretty much based on the relevant eps for Usagi (Act 22), Ami (Act 29), Rei (Act 23), and Makoto (Act 31). Minako's story, called "Aino Minako Must Live," is a combo of Acts 40, 45, and 46, combining the "Minako wants to quit being an idol" plot of Act 40 with her character development in Acts 45 and 46.

So those ones need some work, and as I haven't seen PGSM in a while I may need to rewatch it. I did recently find the beginning of a story from Usagi's POV in a notebook of exercises from a book about writing, which is just Usagi waking up late for school again and seems to be set shortly after Venus's initial reveal in Act 12. Not sure if that'll become its own story or be integrated into something else though.

Fair warning: Miyuu hasn’t watched the series for a long time, so while she knows the main plots of the series and don’t mind discussing it, she is quite hazy on the details of each episodes or the order of how events unfold specifically. Which means not only is she “rewatching” and “reacting” to the episode content to viewers, but she often is genuinely surprised or shocked by how things happening in an episode, going “Oh that’s what happened?!” or “I forgot about that!!!!” So if you plan to chat about episode details with her, try to not “spoil” her too specifically, but tease her and get her even more excited so she’ll continue the viewing party! lol

Posted at different times on Jun 29 JST - our precious Senshi had a Senshi reunion!

Mew (Makoto/Jupiter), Ayaka (Minako/Venus), Keiko (Rei/Mars) and Rika (Ami/Mercury) posted the occasion on their Twitter, Instagram and ameba blog accounts. (Rika posted within the last 30minutes, and with past records, Miyuu will likely post something soon as well.)

Keiko and Rika's caption was the 5 hearts emoji 💚❤️💙💗🧡🌙 in their signature colour. (But Instagram won't let two of the emoji show up on my browser lmao)

Mew's post also had the heart emoji and wrote: "わちゃわちゃないと🌙" - which "わちゃわちゃ" (wacha wacha)is a Japanese expression that typically describes the act of being excited and chatting noisily, usually by girls. SO, Mew here writing "わちゃわちゃないと🌙" is to say "I need to wacha wacha", ie "I need to bask in my excitement with the ladie and chat through our gathering"

Ayaka is UNSURPRISINGLY the quickest with writing up something that makes our hearts soar! She basically wrote the same thing on Ameba blog and Intagram. The translations are:

THE LAST TWO LINE. AYAKA IS QUOTING THE LYRICS FROM THEIR PGSM SONG FRIEND. I'M GONNA SCREAM. The fact that she also tags #幸せ #絆 #戦友 #仲間 to her posts with the Senshi team makes my heart explode.

"幸せ" (shiawase) is the ultimate Asian expression of happiness, a cross between "happy", "lucky/fortune" and "blessing".

"絆" (kizuna) means "bond", typically indicating a deep bond. We hear this a lot in anime.

"戦友" (senyuu) means "comrades in arms", ie a trusted teammate

"仲間" (nakama) means "comrade" or "teammate". We hear this a lot in PGSM. lol

Will update if Miyuu makes a post. Keiko might also post on her blog. It's a bit hard to predict now that Keiko also has an official twitter account.

I don't know, if you're only using PGSM lyric lines or if other songs are allowed as well, when they catch their dynamic, but I'm listening for a while to the song 'Venus & Mars' from Eliane (it's obvious why lol, don't need to explain myself here I guess) and a lot of lines remind me of these two, but this one stood out the strongest:

'Ten thousand miles away

But we never came apart'

It reminds me of their rebirth, like their strong bond was there before and then they were reborn but found each other again? Or like their bond never stopped existing? Idk.

Could also portrait the distance between them in present time, whereas Minako can remember but Rei can't?

Also, I don't know if you've used something of that song yet, but Katagoshi ni Kinsei offers a lot of lines, that could be used for gifs?

Like 'Someday hold me close to you, because I’ll love you forever and ever'

I will also never get over the fact, that they sang this song together in the Kirari Super Live and Rei just went for Minako's hand at the holding hands line... like... my Reinako heart dies xD

Venus & Mars is definitely self-explanatory! Funny enough I didn't know this song existed, so thank you for the recommendation! I only knew about Mars and Venus by Steps. :P I'm definitely interested in making a gif set after listening to it and using some of the lyrics! I'll need to be creative in trying to create any scenes that are meant to allude to the past life though, or Minako's remembrance of it, since we only have a few short scenes of the past life in PGSM, and none with Mars and Venus. I'm not great with manip fanart. I wish I am. :(

Ahhh. Katagoshi no Kinsei's gonna be a challenge for me. The lyrics are so overtly romance coded, and the fact that Minako sang it before meeting Rei in the show, it'll be tough for me to associate th song to Rei or Reinako because I'm a really literal person, and this line confused me:

窓際によくすわっていた (I was often sitting By the window) カノ女がいること知ってた (I knew that you had a girlfriend)

Because of this, I'm more likely to make gifs of Sayonara ~Sweet Days or I'm Here instead because I feel like it's more accurate or truthful to Minako's character, and how it relates to her relationship with Rei and the other Senshi.

I do love that Keiko and Ayaka, as Rei and Minako held hands in the performance during Kirari Super Live though! I agree, and my Reinako heart jumped when it happened too! My personal main blog icon is literally of Keiko and Ayaka holding hands from that musical number! lol I definitely will make a gif out of that someday.

Seriously, I wished we had a Rei and Minako duet in the show. Instead, the duet was Rei and Ami, and Usagi and Makoto. At least Minako didn't end up in a duet at all...

Yes, just like I also liveblog the Oshiokiyo, I intend to also liveblog Kirari Super Live, including the bts footage too! I'll be liveblogging it between Act 29 and 30, since that's when the show happened, between the airdates.

Was thinking of how Usagi got to speak with Princess Serenity in her head in a glowing white space in PGSM, and I started thinking how Rei would feel if she got to meet Mars from the past life in her mind.

The original PGSM DVD 3 was released on May 28, 2004, and by that time Act 32 have aired already with Act 33 airdate on May 29, 2004. Based on this, this interview was probably filmed sometime after they finished filming at least half the series already???  Considering PGSM was both of their debut acting role, it actually does speak to Keiko’s personality and experience quite a bit if they were able to joke about Keiko’s change in attitude from being a newbie to being a more experienced/seasoned actress.  Japanese culture is heavily rooted in respect to authority and hierarchy, so Keiko to have acted like that really showed how new she was not only to the acting side of things at that time, but even as a newcomer to the modeling world.  At least Miyuu had a bit more time to find her confidence in the modeling world before PGSM! Keiko must have felt she was the bottom of the chain to have been so flustered every time she was told to refilm a scene, even if it’s such a normal thing in the industry.  It’s amazing to think this is where Keiko started with her acting career, and she’s now one of Japan’s most famous actresses out there!
