ben anon here
i think mostly my interpretation was based off TASM movie,
after ben dies peter kind of goes of the rails. Like the whole reason he started to fight and catch criminals and get himself hurt etc. is because he no longer had ben.
when he becomes spider-man yes hes hunting bad people, theyre all criminals in different ways, but hes treating all of them like murders. even after he finds out they arent.
overall, peter acts very selfishly throughout the entire movie, but after ben dies his selfishness develops a certain animosity. he goes out constantly, stops talking to aunt may, atops talking to gwen, barely bothers to go home.
hes in his own head, hes grieving in a very seclusive way, neglecting how everyone else might feel, especially may.
TASM is a very realistic look at peter, is a very realistic interpretation of what a 17 dude might go through
man! i kind of discounted the tasm version, because not a lot of people use that as a point of reference (even though i do. i don't expect others to do the same.)
i think you're right - i think you're right that in the tasm films that peter is much more stricken by grief and it's presented in a much less grandiose way than other interpretations. it's actually something that i'm really disappointed about in the tasm film - it's like they were going to tell another story. they were going to commit to this story that might've devoted the entire film to peter's dealing with grief and seeking revenge and confronting the killer and deciding he's not going to become a killer himself and not letting anger and his vendetta motivate him - and that, you know, he has a responsibility with these powers yadda yadda yadda, but they drop the ball. they drop the plotline, clearly because the studio said "wait a second. where's the cgi villain? it's a spider-man movie. we need a cgi villain."
there COULD be something to say about how the lizard is similar to peter in that he lets loss motivate him, too. and peter shouldn't let loss motivate him,, yadda yadda, yeah. yeah. whatever. i see it. but most people don't see it because it's not something explored. i mean it's better handled than "you and are both working class guys"" spiel that vulture?? hits peter and the audience over the head with in sm:h because otherwise you probably wouldn't have noticed that's what they were getting at (because it was an afterthought!! an afterthought!! they thought it would give peter complexity but it DIDN'T`. it DOESN'T.) dr connors and peter in tasm do have that common drive. they're both angry because of something they lost. dr connors and his arm,, and peter and his uncle. it's not overt, but it's there, if you squint at it. they're motivated to take their anger out on innocent and/or semi-innocent people because of it. but i don't know - the film isn't very reflective on this, and you wouldn't notice that's what they're getting at unless you picked it apart.
i would've much rather the film commit to seeing peter's origin through without the aid of big cgi villain. let peter be his own antagonist. he keeps hunting until he finds ben's killer. that could easily fill the whole movie - but, i think there'd probably be a question of making peter likeable. boo. cowards. but it just results in the movie totally dropping an interesting plotline and not seeing it through and it never getting any resolution - we don't understand, really, what the turning point is for peter to abandon it entirely, except that... he got distracted by something more important, i guess. giant lizard. yeah. uncle ben who?
i guess there's the point that can be made that peter's unresolved feelings of loss created the villain of the movie. in that. peter looking to complete his parents research is what created the lizard. so. looking to resolve your feelings of loss and dwelling on the past is bad?? so thats why peter drops trying to find ben's killer?? except peter really doesn't learn that lesson because in the next movie he is still obsessed with unravelling the mystery of his parents. so.
maaybe the turning point is him taking responsibility?? he takes responsibility for creating the lizard. says it was his fault. he doesn't overtly take responsibility for bens death in the film. there's never a point where peter says "i'm abandoning the hunt for ben's killer because. actually it was my fault. and i should take responsibility for that" i don't know. but that would feel weak too. that's still a killer out there man. that's still a killer.
BUT. sorry to uncle ben but honestly. honestly. it's ben's fault. i don't think that guy would have killed anybody if ben didn't step in front of the guy's gun. the man was robbing a convenience store, come on. let the man take the, what, $200 or whatever. even the store cashier guy only looked mildly miffed that he'd been robbed. even peter thought "yeah. that guy is a jerk let him be robbed." and who knows. peter might have stepped in and helped if the cashier guy wasn't a jerk. but also - this peter parker isn't like other peter parkers - he hasn't been, i don't know, pursuing a wrestling career to like, really know if he'd win in a fight with a guy with a gun. i don't know. all of this to say that IT WAS NOT andrew garfields FAULT. and it was uncle bens fault. uncle ben stood in front of that guy's gun. i'd almost say it wasn't even the robber's fault at that point. "it's not my fault your honour he fell on my gun" and uncle ben didn't even do anything noble. he died over 15¢. if you're a civilian please do not jump in front of people's guns. you do not have a responsibility to do that !!
i'm getting a little off track here. man i'd script doctor the hell out of this movie, but yeah, the thing i'm obsessed with about this particular peter parker is how - the only thing that motivates him at all is loss or the fear of loss. he is grieving 24/7/365. he alienates the people in his life who care about him who are presently alive, because the idea of loss is rotating in his mind constantly. he alienates ben and may because he's obsessed with the loss of his parents, he alienates may because he's obsessed with hunting down ben's killer. he alienates gwen because he's obsessed with what captain stacy said, and how he died, and how he's afraid something will happen to gwen too. his brain will not let him see whats right in front of him and appreciate what's in front of him because he's obsessed over what he's lost or what he could lose.
in short, therapy for peter. therapy for 1000 years!!

Okay, since you discussing Sdiderverse movies:
I completely don't understand why Jeff have to die.
A) Miles already have death in the family and got inspired by Aaron
B) If Miles is anomaly by default, than why the hell he should follow Spider narrative!? Like, if his mistake, then why bother?? His universe already took twisted route, so maybe Miguel should step aside and stop trying to bite much more than he can take?
Like really, why he thinks he knows better than Multiverse itself?
Also, the whole movie is kinda reverse to your IsekaiIzuku au. Izuku literally breaking canon events too, lol
Thank you for asking me questions about that movie, i love it to bits and I want to talk about it.
A) I will just preface this by pointing out that the tragic death of an uncle doesn't exclude the whole "a captain must die" canon station. It's just Miles' luck that his two canon deaths involve both family members. (Of course, one could argue that Uncle Ben was Peter Parker's father, since he raised him, so canon might be correcting itself.)
B) You're preaching to the choir! If Miles is the original anomaly, why should he abide by canon? Nothing about his existence is canon!
But more seriously, I think that Miguel is contantly freaking out at the idea of another dimension dying so yes, he wants to keep Miles contained, but he isn't above forcing him to abide by the stations of canon in order to save lives.
C) My actual question is why he is so feral around Miles when you have Gwen right here, who might be the only Gwen Stacy to have ever survived, by becoming Spiderman? She also didn't follow her usual canon story! (Does it not count if no interdimensional mayhem happened?)
Actually, Canon is the one who dragged Izuku here and Izuku is making It pay for it, with interest.

There's something that's been bothering me about Across the Spiderverse and after watching the movie for a second time, it's been brought back to my attention. So if you haven't seen the movie yet, what the hell are you doing with your life? It's such a good movie. It's on Netflix! Go watch it! Rent it! Go go go!
We see Miguel talk to Miles about canon events and how they're the things that tie all the spider people together. Ok I get that. Sure, whatever.
What's been bothering me is Miguel claiming that Miles is the original anomaly. It doesn't make sense to me. We know that the spider that bit Miles was from Universe 42. So the Miles there that was supposed to get bit never got bit. I get that. But Miguel claims that this is what causes the anomaly. But the spider that was brought over to Miles' dimension was brought over by the people who were studying multiple dimensions. So what's the say that wasn't supposed to happen? To Miles at least. And other subsequent spider people? I don't think the spiderverse is that fragile. I think it's a bit more flexible than Miguel makes it out to be.
What we do see is that Miguel himself caused a universe to break down. He even admits it. By trying to slip into a role that wasn't his. Why didn't he try to have a family in his original universe? Why didn't he try to create what he wanted from the universe he broke down organically? He cheated. He didn't want to do it organically. He wanted the easy way. He BROKE a universe!
Miguel is the anomaly here. Not Miles. We see that Miles' dimension is stable. There's nothing breaking down, falling apart like it happened for Miguel. I think that since Miguel cheated to get what he wanted, the multiverse corrected itself since he wasn't in HIS original dimension. He wasn't there to provide for HIS OWN canon events. That's what caused everything to break down. He's the anomaly. And he's using Miles as a scapegoat to fix HIS mistakes.
What does every spider person have in common? They get bit by a spider. We see Miguel inject himself with some sort of spider venom. That's not something any other spider person, that we've seen, has had to do. See I don't think he ever got bit. I don't think HE is supposed to be a Spiderman. In the dimension with his daughter, he dies. He doesn't become a Spiderman. So what's the say that in his own universe, he still doesn't become a Spiderman.
HE'S the original anomaly. The universes falling apart started with him. Because he caused one to unravel. And when a web starts to unravel, it kinda cascades, doesn't it? It all started with Miguel O'Hara. It has to end with him. It has to be fixed somehow. And I think Miles is that solution. Miguel caused such a ripple in the web that things have to shift to get it stable again. Which is why Miles' dimension is stable. Gwen's father quits being a cop for her, an anomaly to the "canon" events. Patvir (forgive me if I misspelled his name) was able to save his girlfriend and her father. Yes everyone agrees this is an anomaly but we see that that's not the reason his dimension is falling apart. I don't think it would've had the whole spot thing happened.
I think that's what's going to be the focus of the next movie. At least I hope so. If not, I'd love for some clarification or answer to all of this. This is going to bother me until I have answers. I just have thoughts man!
Edit: AND ANOTHER THING! This just occurred to me so I thought I'd add it in. I feel like it has some relevancy. The "original" Miguel, the one we see, obviously didn't have a family he was close to. It's why he wanted the family the other version of him made. Miguel 2.0. What if, and hear me out, OG Miguel losing his daughter to the dimension collapsing was a canon event for him? What do we see in all the spider people? They lose someone they love which makes them become a hero. For Gwen it was Peter. For Miles, his uncle Aaron. We see this across the verses with Uncle Ben dying, aunt May for Tom Holland's Spiderman (which we can say is canon in the universe because Miguel even brings it up with Dr. Strange). If, let's say, Miguel was supposed to become a spider person, but he didn't have anyone close to him to lose, what would make him want to be a hero? How do we make him fit the "canon"? He still has to lose someone. Miguel going to that other dimension and losing his daughter was his reason to become a hero. It was supposed to happen. In which case, my theory on him being the anomaly kinda falls apart. And I'm ok with this. BUT it also means that the Spiderverse never needed fixing to begin with (aside from all the villains popping into dimensions that don't belong to them. That's. Yeah that's a problem). I think by insisting he's fixing the multiverse, OG Miguel might be breaking it unknowingly. How's that for a plot twist right!?

SPIDER FIT CHECK: SPIDER-GIRLS
Alright time to do more of these! This post will include Mayday Parker, Anya Corazon, and Annie Parker!
Spectacular Spider-Girl: 12/10
I am incredibly biased towards the Sensational suit on Ben but God damn Mayday wears it so much better. Wearing her Uncle Ben's suit is a great call back to both Peters original inspiration to become a hero in the first place, while also separating her costume from her fathers.
Black Suit Spider-Girl: 10/10
Symbiote suits are tight as hell. Sleek design, sometimes less is more.
Mayday Parker Spider-Woman: 5/10
I....May, this is just your dad's suit. I dont hate it of course, the Spider-Man suit is a banger but like, there's zero personality here.
Araña, Anya Corazon: 7/10
I love the Bulky wrist pouches and the red gloves, no clue how no one recognizes her in this though. Still a fun street wear costume!
Araña (Exo Suit): 8/10
I love how organic this armor looks, the huge bug eyes are really fun, I just wish she got a mouth covering to go with it.
Anya Corazon Spider-Girl: 10/10
Once again, the black costumes are always sick as hell.
Araña (2023): 10/10
I really like this revamp! Keeps the stuff from the old suot that worked, but actually bothering to give her a super suit this time lol
Annie Parker, Spiderling: 6/10
I understand the concept behind this suit, she isn't ready for a full suit just yet. And Peter and MJ giving their daughter hockey pads and a bike helmet is hilarious. Doesn't mean it makes for a great super suit tho
Annie Parker Patternmaker: 7/10
Making her color primarily blue is very nice along with the accents of red webshooters, but- you guys really should've given her a real mask.

Rest
Miguel O Hara, Peter B Parker, Mayday Parker
Across the Spiderverse, G
*
He's just so damn tired. Everything is loud, and bright, and frenetic, and he can't look away, because if he looks away, some Spider-person or Spider-Thing out there is going to mess up in a way that he could have stopped it if he didn't look away.
But, God, he is tired. Lyla is bugging him to go to bed, but how can he when every other minute some Spider-Thing/Person/Robot is threatening to rebel against a Canon Event from occurring and thus risk the collapse of the entire human-arachno... Okay, fine. SPIDER-verse, whatever.
Stupid anomaly kid.
Poco a poco se anda lejos, he thinks as he searches another universe to identify their Spider-Person/Object/Phenomenon. Sometimes he finds them already broken. Those, he offers the scant comfort of all the other Spiders. Sometimes they have yet to face the toughest moments, and he has to deny all contact with them until they're ready. He has seen hundreds or maybe thousands of Uncle Bens, of police captains, of Gwen Stacies.
Of Gabe, of Dana, of-
"No, sweetheart, don't bother your uncle Miguel, ah f... I mean, ah, heck."
Miguel holds back a curse and shuts his eyes to count his breath, getting all the way to ocho before someone crashes into his chest and he instinctively wraps his arms around a giggly, tousled Spider-toddler.
Obviously that's not her designation, but it's not as if Mayday will be out in the field.
Peter B. Parker swings up and lands on the platform with a soft thud and holds out his arms for his daughter. "Thanks for catching her. She's really into hide-and-seek now and I am dreading to find out if she has invisibility powers."
Miguel surreptitiously squeezes Mayday before handing her back to her father. "I told you not to bring her here."
"We're all Spiders! Safest place in the multiverse." Parker raps twice on the side of his head. "Touch wood."
Miguel holds his tongue. Parker has been through the Canon Events and, much as Miguel doesn't want to admit it, is one of the most resilient and resourceful Spider-Men out there.
Y tiene a su esposa e hija, his heart supplies and he shuts away that pang of loss. Peter B. Parker's earned it. He has gone through the heartaches that make Spider-Man Spider-Man.
Mayday burbles something. Miguel turns to look at her and is greeted with a face full of webbing.
"Nab! Un Mi-el nab wimmee. Nab!"
Pulling the webbing off his face, Miguel frowns and asks Parker, "What's she saying?"
"I think she wants her nap," says Parker slowly.
"Un Mi-el nab wib MEEE!" Mayday yells, more webbing shooting from her wrists that lands on Miguel's chest. Before Miguel can rip the webbing off - seriously, what the hell, Parker, babies should not be equipped with webshooters - Mayday has latched onto Miguel's front. Her little fingers dig into the uniform and he cradles her diapered behind with his left forearm before she can lose her grip.
Lyla chooses that moment to pop up. "I think Miss Parker wants you to nap with her."
"What? No. I have to look through the next-"
"You haven't slept for 37 hours," Lyla interrupts sweetly.
Parker is alarmed. "Thirty-seven hours? Oh hell no, you go take a nap with Mayday right now, down there where I can keep an eye on her and you."
"Parker, I have to keep looking-"
"I have eyes, and Lyla can assist. You go take a nap." Parker narrows his eyes, like he can be anywhere near intimidating in his fuzzy bathrobe and slippers. "Don't make me web you to the wall."
Miguel wants to challenge that, but Parker may just do it because he is a bas- an idi- a really stupid person, so he holds Mayday closer to himself and jumps down to the floor of the room to find a corner where he can still keep an eye on the entrance.
"Close your eyes," Parker threatens with a smile. "You don't want me to sing a lullaby, do you?"
Miguel covers Mayday's ears with his right hand and his chest. "Shut up, asshole."
Parker grins. "Take a nap, Miguel. I promise I'll keep an eye on everything." He stares when Mayday yawns and snuggles up to the stoic Miguel. "And you take care of my baby girl now."

Ok, I don't think anyone's done this yet, but imagine: Spiderverse!Herobrine feat.Rookie!Y/N
He's basically like my usual Herobrine is, but a Spider-man
Also again, spoilers for those who have not watched Across the Spiderverse
His Spidey suit would of course have the Iconic Spidey eyes, but glowy, and the main colors would be blue (same as his shirt), Indigo, and white (ofc with black accents). (Also angy Spidey eyes mood)
He's in the usual same style of animation that Miles, Peter B parker, and Gwen are. (Same with Y/N's) His framerate also changes. (24 fps for the default, 12 for fight scenes)
He'd be the mentor that ends up a tired exasperated father figure for teenage Y/N. (Think of a Tony Stark and Peter Parker dynamic)
He will deny the claim that he thinks of Y/N as his child, but he does, 100%. (Denial is a river in Egypt Hero).
Especially because Y/Ns bio father figure isn't really there. (He's kinda there, but he's not really that good. Idk)
Crossed arms and annoyed, Spidey, squinty eyes are pretty common.
His powers would consist of the same things Miles Morales can do (including invisibility), with added teleportation with a "cool down". (He leaves a blue trail behind when he teleports in 12fps, but it fades almost instantly)
He's been a spiderman for a long while. So naturally, he's the mentor and Y/N needs to do what he says. (Does Y/N do this? No. No, they don't.)
Him and Miguel Spiderman were at odds. Brine was always a lone wolf, "I wanna do my thing", kinda guy, and we all know that Miguel hates when people don't conform to the "canon".
Herobrine doesn't believe all the "canon" nonsense. He knows it's illogical, and multiple universes should have collapsed in that case. He tried explaining this to Miguel, with no luck.
Hero barely holds in a snort when he finds out a literal kid (Miles) has tricked Miguel. It's hilarious to him akjdhd.
"A STUPID ASS KID BEAT ME. HES GONNA RUIN EVERYTHING!" "A kid?" *Barely keeping in a laugh* "Are you LAUGHING AT ME?!"
I can imagine Y/N would be (enthusiastically) introducing new slang and phrases to Hero that Herobrine never bothered learning.
Y/N casually rambling while trying to catch a villain with Herobrine.
"Can you not do this right now?"
Should I make Hero the "Uncle Ben" or no? (Probably nahhh. It's better to make him lose someone, and that impacts his overprotectivness with Y/N)
Man is again, bilingual (English and Swedish). He comes from Sweden, but has a northern United States accent, considering it's where he spent most of his formative years.
His age is 34 in this AU.
*rolls eyes with a sigh* "Miguel, your logic is not making any sense."
He also consistently has these expressions all the time: (I.e: "Bish, imma strangle you.")
Man is the only one more intimidating than Miguel.
He has a "tired dad mode". This only ever happens when he's been awake for more than two days and has no more energy and is running off of coffee and regret.
*tired dad mode* "Y/N, what trouble did you get into now?" "I can explain-"
Overprotective fr
Messy hair all the time, gets worse in tired dad mode.
Aroace (reason No. 1 he doesn't follow the canon, and is probably the first anomaly in actuality)
Identity is kinda a secret. Like, he's Herobrine ofc, but he doesn't like citizens seeing him in everyday attire. Cause his glowy eyes. (Kinda would reveal his identity instantly anyways if we're gonna be honest.)
No Spider name. People just call him "Herobrine".
I might do a second part if I can think of more, or if it's requested enough skhdydh
#galaxy rambles#galaxy's headcanons#spidersona????#herobrine#minecraft herobrine#spiderverse#across the spiderverse#into the spider verse#man would probably be a whole lot less traumatized#someone please draw this I beg#spiderverse spoilers

Spider-Man Read-Through 010: The Night of the Prowler (ASM 78-82, Ann 6)
MASTERPOST
This arc, we transition from the 60s to the 70s! And we start by Annual 6 which is, and I quote, "41 pages of indescripable excitement"! The Sinister Six are here, muahahahhahaaaaa!
(Note: Ann 6 is a reprint of Ann 1, which I hadn't read but definitely makes sense, and a re-telling of the first issue).
Sadly, this issue is drawn by Ditko, which means even a shirtless Peter can't make me drool. What a shame.
So Otto escapes prison by Bluetooth-manipulating his detached mechanical arms, Ditko and Lee re-establish the setting, and that's only on the first page because no time to mess around because Thor's here on page 2! Good grief, the pacing is brisky. Sadly, after two panels, Thor is already far away. It was very subtle advertisement! But it also helps reinforce the (for now very lackluster, if that's what you're looking for) idea that the super-heroes are part of the same world.
Then suddenly Flash is here in his high-school personality, and then DR STRANGE is here to tell you to read his magazine. Wow, they really wanted to sell those magazines! This sure reads as the editorial becoming aware of how much of a success Spider-Man was.
We can see the writing has definitely improved since the first issues... even though this one is from 1969, just like the Tablet arc!
So the storyline is set "months" after Uncle Ben's death, which confirms to me that this is still high-school. Okay. All right.
And then as soon as Spidey loses his powers, he sees the Fantastic Four in what appears to be an attempt at showing as many cameos as possible.
In spite of his colleagues' messy yet sensible plan of "let's all gang up on Spidey at once", Otto says they'll each have a go, one after another. The idea is to weaken him by fighting him in each of their respective favorite elements. Okay, that's not so bad...
May's wondering what's wrong with Pete, surmising it might have something to do with "that girl he's been seeing", who's obviously... Betty Brant. Hey, remember when Betty Brant was a character? Me neither!
Peter's confused on what to do now, and passersby are amazed at "Giant-Man... and the Wasp!" Meanwhile, May and Betty get kidnapped. May by coincidence, and Betty because, according to Peter, "they know [he] was willing to fight [for her]".
The cameos pile on vertigineously as the Torch sends a message in the sky to Spider-Man and Charles Xavier says to "Ignore it! It doesn't concern us."
Spidey goes to fight Electro and the miracle happens! He's got his powers back. Basically, he was feeling depressed about Ben's death, but now he's fine! I must say I prefer SM2's version. It's a bit more subtle and well-executed. But that's still a commendable effort.
Jameson calls the Fantastic Four to ask if they've seen Spider-Man, and Jane replies that no, she didn't, and she adds that Jameson should probably call the police. Dear Lord.
Johnny wants to help Spidey (he seems to be Spidey's most regular partner) but Spidey objects. This fight is personal. This makes no sense but go off, king. But Otto is far from being a monster. He serves tea and Danish pastries to his lady guests, what an angel!
Then the X-Men attack Spidey but nooooo they're Mysterio's robots! So many plot twists!
Then we get some real comedy that I could absolutely see in a MCU movie. It's actually really funny!
Another comedic scene is the Vulture ordering Spidey to remove his web-slinging device, or he'll just fly away and won't tell where Betty and May are. Because every time Spidey beat him, it was thanks to his webbing. Spidey obeys, because of course he does.
Spidey almost beats Otto, but then Otto's like "hey, I can control my arms with Bluetooth. Why should I even fight in person?" and thus, Otto proves his girlboss status. He can't be bothered to get to the party! However, he can't help himself but want to be there to drown Spidey in a giant fishbowl (what the writer smoked for this issue, i can't possibly figure).
The two ladies are eventually rescued, but May hates Spider-Man and is really starting to dislike her nephew's slang, so she asks that he FUCKING stops saying stuff like "shook up".
There's a second story that re-tells in more details the first meeting between Spidey and the Fantastic Four (hey, remember to buy their mags!), which is basically the same, then a third story, where Spidey thinks he's going to mess with the Torch and his girlfriend because he lives in a telenovela.
Johnny actually has a really cute outfit that I'd love to cosplay one day. I already got a white shirt, the tie seems to be red, but I don't have a red tie. Still. I think it's a great look. Simple, but it definitely works!
...Well now I want to be checkered pants. Jesus.
Anyway, he quickly gets rid of this outfit to fight Spidey. Spidey gets angrier, Johnny gets angrier, then the other Fantastic Four arrive, show their sympathy to Spidey, who gets even angrier, they fight, then Jane and Spidey flirt with each other. The end. Oof.
Overall, Annual 6 is a lot of fun thanks to its bizarre assembly. It feels like a greatest hits that I'd recommend it if you want to see what Ditko's run was like. But it's definitely a downgrade, sandwiched between Romita Sr. issues. Lighthearted fun, at least.
Now, onto the main dish! As a reminder, I haven't read anything between 1969 and 1973, so it will be mostly new for me!
(gosh I really need checkered pants)
My familiarity with the Prowler is his appearance in Spider-Man: Friend or Foe, and his appearance in Into the Spider-Verse. Since Miles doesn't exist yet, I'm curious about what's going to happen.
Peter calls Gwen, but...
What the fuck.
Turns out Gwen wants to understand why Peter keeps disappearing and stuff. Be careful, honey. Curiosity killed the cat...
After about 10 pages of delightful soap opera (seems like the 50/50 ratio's back!), I suddenly get flash-backs (both types) as Hobie Brown makes his entrance. I remember, now!
Hobbie wants to help his window-cleaning fellows be better protected, but his boss is against it because money. CoMiCs ArE nOt PoLiTiCaL!!! And Jameson tries to defend him because he's not racist.
From the very beginning, the Prowler is a very compelling character. He explains (to the reader) that he modified his cleaning equipement to become a super-villain. This is great! Economical exposition and very interesting.
A very compelling issue and a great return to the soap genre. In the letters, Ronald Gayda makes excellent points and did the maths:
Yes yes yes!
Michael J. Susko, meanwhile, argues that someone knowing Peter's secret could help him hide it! Didn't think about that, but absolutely.
The opening of the next issue assures us that it was initially planned as a three-issue storyline -- but it's been reduced to two! Which concludes neatly the year, yay!
And the first pages are absolutely terrific. Peter looks like a shojo romance hero.
And the issue concludes just as stellarly. Spidey doesn't turn Hobie in. I wonder what's in store for this character...
With these panels, we're done with 1969. Onto 1970!
I always appreciate Peter Parker being a handsome motherfucker. I hope we get to see the Prowler again, though!
But first, Peter wants to fight.
Anyway, the Chameleon is back! His last appearance was Issue #2! That's a blast. After taking the place of Captain Stacy, he takes the place of... none other than Peter himself! What a fun twist.
It's another fun issue that I really enjoyed.
In the reader's letters, the topic of Peter's hair regularly comes up. I think his hair are perfect, so Linda, yes, you're right.
Issue 81 features the Kangaroo, a villain nobody cares about!
Most importantly, this issue features the return from Aunt May, to my displeasure. She was nice where she was. She's been away since #72! And she's immediately worried about her nephew. Next to them, the aforementioned Kangaroo escapes from custody and recounts his sad life story.
He looks like a kid, then as his resolve comes back, he's an adult again. Kudos to the artist!
So Aunt May's dead (and I laughed).
And that's a nice panel.
Naturally, Peter girlboss gaslights gatekeeps May and she now thinks she's senile. Which, come on. Isn't far from the truth. She treats Peter as if he was five. Dear Lord.
In the letters, the readers talk about the same subjects again and again, but the Prowler is praised. Good! It's a great story.
In the final issue of this post, #82, Electro's back! But more importantly, Harry's shaving his stache. He had it since issue 74! I honestly think it wasn't so bad.
Peter wants to get money, so he asks to appear on TV, however he needs to dry his Spidey suit, but can't do it while showing his face...
So what's his solution?
Excellent.
The issue is alright, has fun ideas, but overall isn't that great.
The letters finally address my biggest gripe: I have never been able to faithfully reproduce Spidey's hand gesture to shoot a web, and Stan Reynolds has the same experience! Someone also wonders what kind of name is Flash. It can't possibly be written on his birth certificate, can it now?
There's the occasional weird letter, but there's also heartfelt opinions. Hobie seems to be a beloved character! They had to make him come back after that, didn't they?
So here we are. We finished the Sixties era of Spider-Man... What a journey!

Mar 31
March has a 31, it doesn't seem right.
Robbie Robertson probably knows Peter Parker is Spider-Man in #2 with Tobey and the general main Marvel universe continuity. Flip a coin if JJJ does. He's either using touch love to try and make Peter a better photographer or it's a combination of hired the kid because JJJ knew uncle Ben died and he needed the money and now if anyone ever found out Peter is Spider-Man do you know the kind of shit the Bugle would be in if they found out the photos were staged.
That's the kind of stuff that should be in the back of your mind while you're writing.
Well, I have a little under 2 weeks to prep for my dental work that will be serious enough to require antibiotics which means I'll possibly be in bed for a week. If I understand it there might even be stitches in my mouth. And it has nothing to do with the wisdom teeth I still have.
One thing the dentist who fucked up did do right is not pressure me to have my wisdom teeth removed, they sit at an angle under my other molars and don't bother me. Then again I didn't lose my last baby tooth until I was 21.
Lost yesterday to a migraine altho I wanted to get out the sewing machine. Ended up playing with my lace making thread in a let's see if this container will work ended up back in their original one way.
I need/want/have to make a doll or two out of the size 20 and then a bunch of those fancy bed doll dresses. That was why I bought most of the colors for that size in the first place. I have one I didn't make legs for who came out okay. Can never figure if I want to make legs or just start over with a slightly different doll pattern. She doesn't seem to mind not having legs and being carried around.
Then there's the size 10 thread doll who wants a friend...
Rant after pic of puppy Dublin who literally went "grr grr" when I asked him where his grr was when we played tug. Yes his ears are the softest thing ever.
Today's affirmation- it's okay to share a major health event, especially if it might make other people think of their health too, and accept sympathy and well wished for it. That's an average human thing to do.
Bitch, your dentist fucked up. Other people should take the time to wonder if they too might be in the same situation.
But that's not where I'm coming from.
I have to remind myself none of my family members will ever see that post, connect it to me... The 40 years of you trying to explain that you are in serious pain but that doesn't matter because your younger half sister stubbed her precious toe so we have to drive her to a specialist half a day away and how dare you ask to go to free clinic across the street are over.
So if you know anyone who is blasé about their health find out if they grey up in an environment where their health needs were ignored, sidelined, or even hijacked by another family member.

reblog, like, and comment!
summary: summary: you've fallen in love with peter, and the worst part? you can't. not when you know you must be with someone else.
warning: flirting, maybe cursing, teeny bit of angst/sad petey for a second, use of y/n, mentions of death and school shooting (lemme know if i missed any)
pairing: peter parker x fem!reader (this is in 3rd person!)
word count: 1.4k+ words
peter
"it's kinda chilly," peter noted. "come over to my place instead," he murmured, pulling away from the hug.
"okay," y/n smiled, stepping away.
they walked in silence, but unlike before, it was a little uncomfortable.
"you have any family here in new york?"
"no. just one or two close friends."
do i count as a close friend?
"my mom's still in florida, and my brot-... he's, um, not really around."
"he goes to school in florida? how old is he?"
"no, no, i mean he's not around. like, he's... not alive. and he would have been 17 if he were. it was... uh, it was a school shooting. h-he was eight." she fanned her eyes, forcing a laugh.
"actually, you know what? l-let's just go. it's fine, it's fine. i'm sorry i brought that up. i didn't mean to kill the mood," she chuckled awkwardly, suddenly regretting all her life decisions. peter didn't say anything, he knew that sometimes, sometimes it's better not to think about those things. and it doesn't help when people try and pry.
he gave y/n a smile, and took his hand in hers. he blushed, but it was out of her line of sight, so she didn't notice. peter spent the whole walk there hoping she wouldn't pull her hand away. soon enough, they were at the parker residence.
"uh, my aunt may isn't here, so we have the house to ourselves."
he had to pull his hand away to unlock the door, which he mentally frowned at.
"you live with your aunt?"
"yeah, my uncle ben died, so if i left, she wouldn't have anyone to stay with. i just don't want to leave her alone like that, you know?"
"that's honestly so sweet of you, peter." he blushed at that.
"i wish i had someone to live with like that. it gets lonely every now and then."
peter hummed in acknowledgement, his heart doing a 360.
he watched nervously as she looked around, "nice place. real cozy."
"isn't cozy just realtor talk for small?"
"maybe, but i didn't mean it like that. it feels nice in here, like a home. an actual home."
he wasn't quite sure what that meant, but he didn't bother about that. peter walked up the stairs to his room, y/n right behind.
"um, i-it's a little messy."
"oh. yeah i can see that. is- is that underwear?" she asked, gesturing to the garment on chair.
his eyes widened as he grabbed it and threw it into his closet.
"t-that's not mine!"
"the spider-man underwear isn't yours? my bad."
he looked around the room, still bright red, as he started throwing some clothes into the closet. after he was done, he slammed the door closed. y/n was trying her absolute hardest not to laugh.
spoiler alert: it wasn't working very well.
this is absolutely degrading.
she slipped off one of her heels as peter sat on the swivel chair. y/n sighed in relief, taking those lousy heels off. well, it wasn't really a sigh. it was more of a moan.
get your mind out of the gutter, peter.
peter blushed red and turned the chair around to face the laptop. he scrolled through the new daily bugle posts to distract himself from thinking such scandalous thoughts.
yes, he did like to google himself every now and then. but it wasn't a pride thing, it was just to see what people... well, what people thought of him. because as much as he didn't want to, he really cared about that.
peter was trying to not process what he was feeling for her. obviously, there was something there. he just didn't want to over complicate what they had.
also, he didn't trust himself. not with y/n. peter wasn't going to allow himself to make the same mistake. in the end, captain stacy had been right.
peter swallowed, trying to think about something else. but no matter what he tried, his mind traced back to y/n.
nope. no. no, no, no. there are no crushes here. none at all.
he groaned loudly and banged his head on the table.
"woah there, are you okay? cause you seem very un-okay. seriously, don't complain when you get yourself a concussion."
peter blushed a bright red and didn't move, keeping his head on the table. he had completely forgot she was even there.
"peter? are you good?" her voice was laced with concern, and that didn't help his crush. it might have been small, but regardless, it existed. how was a 23 year old man struggling this much with something so minor? he should be able to deal with a crush.
he looked up, trying to come up with a sensible excuse that wouldn't freak her out. peter turned around, only to be meet with her deep, loving eyes. she ran her hand through his hair, dropping it to cup his cheek.
peter's breath hitched slightly, seeing as the proximity between the two was very small. sure, he was nervous to kiss her the other time, but this felt way different. he was almost... scared. it was odd, he had always felt more confident as spider-man. maybe that's why, he told himself.
"just- uh... work stuff. got a l-lot to catch up on, y-you know?" he was looking everywhere, just not at her. he knew she was leaning in, and it was freaking him out.
"yeah?"
"uh-huh..." peter finally locked eyes with her, and quickly regretted it. because as soon as he did, he couldn't look away. their lips were centimeters away, and he found himself leaning in as well, unable to help it.
y/n’s lips brushed his, and as soon as they did, the two of them were interrupted.
"peter?" aunt may called out. "honey, you home?"
she flinched and practically leaped back in fear. "i thought you said you were home alone?"
"i-i thought we were. may's shift m-must have ended early."
he noticed a change in her demeanor.
...disappointment?
he heart leaped at the thought. had she really wanted to kiss him? but what about spider-man? he loved aunt may, but right now, there was a twinge of frustration that he couldn't push away.
"uh- yeah! i'm up here! with a... a..." he glanced at you, "a friend?" his voice had faded to a whisper towards the last couple of words as his eyes met hers. he didn't know what to say about what just happened, and he guessed that she didn't know either.
y/n
"s-sorry," she murmured, looking away, "i, um, shouldn't have done that."
"no!"
she looked at him, clearly confused.
"i-i mean, it's fine. maybe it'll go better next time," he offered with a smile.
next time?
her head was spinning. over the past couple of days, she had decided that she liked peter. a lot.
and they almost kissed. that was crazy. who cares about spider-man? he's spider-man! for all she knew, that was a fling. besides, she didn't want to date the man-bug. she didn't even know who he was.
sure, yeah, it would be cool. but how do you have a relationship with someone you don't know?
but peter? peter was so different. nothing like anyone she'd ever met. every word exchanged made her heart soar. peter made her so happy. and the funniest part?
he didn't even have to try. not one bit.
y/n’s breathing was still uneven, the rush of adrenaline and confidence she had was down the drain.
"um. i need to go," she rushed down the stairs, not thinking a second thought.
"oh, hi there! are you a friend of peter's?"
"yes, yeah... a friend." the word had rolled off his tongue so smoothly that it had bothered her. in all honestly, hadn't even noticed that peter was following her.
y/n drew in a breath. "uh, yes, i'm y/n l/n. it's nice to meet you, may."
"it's great to meet you too! peter's told me a lot about you."
she glanced him, taking note of his bright red face. "oh, really? all good things, i hope?"
"of course!"
"well, it was nice to see you, but i'm afraid that i do have to be going," y/n plastered a smile on her face.
"i understand, you should come over more. our house is always welcome to you."
she gave the older woman a more genuine smile and left the house. y/n hailed a cab before peter came after her.
at this point, she just wanted to figure this out.
what was going on between her and peter?

I finished Marvel's Spider-Man 2
Yeah...I just finished it a few minutes ago.
Or well, I finished the main story. And again, no huge spoilers, but I will mention some stuff. Because this is going to be somewhat of a review or my general thoughts on the game without going into full detail.
In all seriousness, despite reading some leaks and seeing some stuff on thumbnails and whatever else. Even with me questioning some of the story decisions and while I agree with some folks that the game pretty much rehashing several stories. But in all seriousness, I shouldn't listen to parts of Spider-Man Twitter. Now these days, several pieces of media rehashes certain story elements. And I indeed have my own feelings towards the direction of Venom as a character in this game.
Insomniac's/Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is a genuine good time with gameplay that outdoes the first two games in their series. With combat that feels evolved, fun and challenging. Along with what I think is possibly the best traverse system in any video game ever that's so entertaining. The graphics are well, pretty much beautiful. New York is pretty well realized with side missions and characters that bring it to life.
You also got a score/soundtrack that brings the mood to whatever situation you're in. Whether it's a dramatic or peaceful moment. I should mention the boss fights are possibly at their best. And I must say, they got difficult in that third act. Mainly when concerning the Symbiotes.
And the story, while again, it may rehash several elements. But I shouldn't care about that. Yet despite all that. The characters remain likable (Which to me is something important in a story like this) with their own wants and goals. Who are all voiced and performed well by their actors. And in all seriousness, towards the end of the story, there were some pretty emotional moments. The game doesn't miss in that aspect, and I love that. Even with story decisions that bother me. In general, the story works pretty much well.
But the one thing that bothers me the most and something that excited many people, including me. The...direction of Venom. Especially with what they bring to the table from certain comics and in all seriousness, a lot of my criticisms may go towards more of how the third act of the game goes. Even though with the whole Symbiote aspect of that, it's visually pretty fun and gross, which I like. I'm not going to spoil much, it's...basically a mini-Web of Shadows.
Yet the other thing, and it's back towards Venom...I'm just going to say it. And this goes to Insomniac's take on Spider-Man in general. I possibly think they needed to change some things and...they should've made Venom Eddie Brock.
A spoiler saying that. But considering how the third act goes. A lot would need to be changed. Yet with the story they are telling, it still works. But I think if you're a comic book elitist, or a huge Venom fan, particularly of Eddie Brock...you have every right to pissed of how they handle certain things. Even if the third act can be fun. And while there is still a personal aspect intact. Especially with interactions between Martin Li and Miles Morales which I am so glad they did that.
But this is a case where I legit feel like Insomniac trying to be "Different for the sake of being different" seems...weird. And maybe they should've adapted certain stories instead. But again, visually, it looks awesome. And there is emotion still in there. But Venom/Symbiote fans have every right to be upset. Because like I've said before.
What you think about Insomniac's take on Venom will either make or break the game for you.
Which sounds fucking stupid to say. That's like me disregarding the first Sam Raimi Spider-Man film because Peter doesn't like a jackass Ditko Peter era style before Uncle Ben dies. And you forget other elements of what makes the film good.
Anyway, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is the definition of a pure next gen video game and I love it. And it's the first main story I beat on the PS5. Well, this took a bit to write.
Final update. Forgot to mention I wanted to wear "The End" suit for Miles for the end of the game because I like many others...aren't huge on his final suit. And that "The End" suit feels more fitting and I love it. But I feel it would be wrong if I disregarded the default suit, so I played the final moments with that suit on.

Hello!! I was wonder what you think about NWH? If you have seen it. Have a nice day.
hi! thank you for the question!
i hope I'll not get a lot of hate for this, but I'm not really a big fan of that movie. I wouldn't say it's the worst movie marvel has ever made, but it's not the masterpiece everyone says.
I don't have a lot to say about the plot. It's simple and not sophisticated, there are some plot holes but honestly they are present in every marvel movie . One thing I didn't understand is why Peter and Strange didn't talk APPROPRIATELY before the spell. You're telling me that Strange, a man who is a lot conscious and always careful with every plan he makes, didn't even bothered to ask Peter "hey do you want everyone to forget who you are or you want your friends to remember it?". Strange isn't a fool, I can't believe he didn't think about it before making that spell. Or maybe, he didn't even tried to convince him to do something else or make another plan. But okay, they needed a plot and even if it's poor I can go for it.
What I cannot go for it is the fact that nostalgia carried this movie. Without Andrew and Tobey, this movie would be nothing. Marvel does a lot of this lately: they make movies/shows and they make cameos to make people watch it because you know that fans will love every second of it and will concentrate only on the cameos, not the plot. That's not how you write movies. You cannot treat your fans like this, you just want to make your bag full of money and don't care about the plot or the characters.
Yes, the characters.
Honestly May's death was...rushed. We didn't see Uncle Ben in the MCU, but we know that he was there and that Peter became spiderman because of him. So what was the point in May's death? To hear the famous "with great powers comes great responsibilities" quote? We didn't need that because we already knew that Peter felt a lot of responsibility on his shoulder. We knew it from civil war, where he said to Tony that he has to do something because If he didn't help anyone with the powers he had, it would be his fault if bad things happened; We also knew it after Tony's death. Peter lived with the constant feeling that he had to be like Tony, while blaming himself for his mentor's death. What was the sense to make May say it? He already knew he had a lot of responsibility.
Another thing I want to say is how they treated Tony. In Far from home we see Peter grieving him through all the movie, he misses his father figure and now he has to live without him. Idk how Marvel thinks grief works, but nwh Peter and ffh Peter are not the same person. I can't believe he didn't mentioned him not either once. They completely erased Tony's influence in Peter's life and I'm like...what? Marvel took the little kids on twitter pressed about Tony too seriously.
And what can I say about the end... it sucked. No, i don't feel happy seeing Peter swinging though new york knowing he now has no one.
I can't see this as a new start because this is not the Moment Peter became spiderman.
Peter was already spiderman, homecoming proved that when we saw Peter learning he didn't need the suit to be a hero. He lost Ben, he blamed him self for that, he already felt the pain every other spidermen felt. There was no point in Peter losing everyone so that he could understand what being Spiderman means, because he already knew.
(IMO the spell doesn't make sense... why strange didn't go with the original spell? If he made everyone forget about Spiderman, the villains from other universes wouldn't come neither. In this movie Strange was literally dumb to agree with every nonsense plan of Peter)
I don't have a lot else to say, because I refuse to watch this movie ever again. They ruined Peter's character, and if what I heard from Spiderman 4 rumours is true... then they will have ruined him even more: They want Gwen to be the new love interest of Peter, but that doesn't make any sense. Peter decided to not tell the truth to MJ because he didn't wanted to Risk her life again, BUT he's willing to risk another life all over again? No i cannot accept that.
MCU really said fuck off and decided to bet everything on the cameos

You've mentioned it before a handful of times, bit do you have any in-depth thoughts on JMS' tenure on Spider-Man? Were you fan of the more mystical stories?
Huge fan, it was my gateway into 616 Spider-Man. All the best and worst facets of Spider-Man, and his handling by Marvel, can be found here.
The highs are some of the best in the franchise's history. Within this run we get a Peter Parker who really does feel like an adult. He's mature, wanting to help guide the next generation by being a teacher. He solves conflicts with his brain as well as his fists, gets angry as hell, but also never loses touch with the source of compassion that makes him a hero. Drama and comedy flow smoothly together, this run has the second best handle on Peter's "voice", only beaten by the original Lee/Dikto/Romita Sr. run. Incorporating some mystical elements into Peter's origin didn't bother me as I saw it as a cool attempt at widening the scope of Spider-Man's adventures, and Ezekiel was an interesting character who stood as an example of what Peter could have been if he had never lost his uncle. We didn't get as many stories with the classic Spidey Rogues as I would have liked, but I enjoyed stories like Peter and Doc Ock briefly teaming up, or Spidery having to deal with Doom and Loki.
Romita Junior isn't to everyone's taste but he was born to draw Spider-Man, and not just because of his dad. Nobody else can capture the visuals of dudes getting the absolute shit hammered out of each other when they're fighting, an aesthetic perfect for Spider-Man. Morlun outlived JMS' run when not many expected him too partly because Romita Jr. sold you that this guy was a big deal, that he pushed Spider-Man to his limits in a way few other Rogues had ever done. Kid me reading this run for the first time was legitimately shocked and scared when I saw Spidey all torn up and bleeding after going a few rounds with Morlun. Love Romita Jr.'s art, he's as perfect a match for Spider-Man as his dad was.
Peter’s relationships with the traditional women in his life have never been better than this run either.
Both Aunt May and Mary Jane have regressed since this run hard. JMS had Aunt May outright tear apart the bullshit argument that her knowing Peter's secret would be "too much" for her, by pointing out that May has been through so much pain and loss already and kept going. I loved the mother-son relationship between the two here, May here is everything that people pretend the Kents are for Superman. She's a source of wisdom that doesn't feel hokey, a foundation of strength that gives Peter the ability to stand up again when he's been kicked down. Hate it so much that they reverted to her not knowing and only existing as a cheap source of drama for Peter again.
Meanwhile the Peter/MJ relationship? Odd as it might be to say it's never been better than it was here. The two of them are funny, constantly trading banter with each other. When they're hurt they'll cry and talk about how they feel without devolving into shouting matches or blaming each other. Two of them are sexy too, constantly flirting with each other and letting you know that these are two young people in total love with one another. There's a maturity in this relationship that I've yet to see in any other Spider-Man romance, a shared sense of history that binds the two of them together in ways that make you understand why people lost their minds when Marvel broke them up. This is the run that sold me on MJ as Peter's soulmate, ironic I know, but I'm not alone in that view I've found.
Most impactful part of the run for me might surprise you. It's not when he gets the shit beat out of him by Morlun, terrifying as that is. It's not when he travels through time and has to fight through every battle he's ever fought amazing though that might be. It's not even when he gets to meet Uncle Ben again, despite that never failing to make me tear up. Instead it's the story right before One More Day where Peter has to commit a series of felonies in order to keep Aunt May safe because his identity is public knowledge and everyone is gunning for him now. That small story where Peter is internally keeping track of every crime he has to commit, and the jail time that would come with it if he gets caught, is peak Spider-Man to me. Nothing else has ever hit as hard in terms of showing how Peter's heroic identity just destroys his personal life, but his love for his aunt and Mary Jane give him the strength to push forward.
Which of course brings us to the bad, and the bad is on par with the Clone Saga in terms of being some of the worst Spider-Man stories ever. You want to see Marvel's obsession with keeping Peter young at it's dumbest? Here's the run where he sells his marriage to Satan. You want to see some examples of Quesada letting writers take wild swings because it would grab attention? Here's the run where Gwen cucks Peter with Norman Osborn and then plans on lying to Peter that he's the father of her twins. People claim that Superman is hard to write, but the sheer volume of outright GARBAGE I've seen published in Spider-Man's books have convinced me that is a claim more true of Spider-Man than any other character. How the most popular Marvel character, and likely the most popular superhero period, is constantly suffering under terrible, regressive storytelling baffles me.
The JMS era was an era where Spider-Man was moving forward only to end by regressing and freezing him into place, a status quo that has essentially held true ever since. Do I recommend his run? Yeah I do because for all the dross, this run even now contains many all time great Spider-Man moments, and this is the run that even now delineates where modern Spider-Man "begins". Whether those are enough to outweigh the negatives are ultimately going to be up to the reader, but much like Morrison for Batman, JMS and Quesada are the definitive modern Spider-Man creators for better and for worse.

Hello, Your Parents Want Me To Have Your Babies
PAIRING: Natasha Romanoff x Reader
SUMMARY: Melina, my workplace’s neighbour, wants to set me up with her daughter.
I'd only ever hear about Natasha every couple of weeks, when her adoptive father, the mechanic that owned the garage workshop beside my father's cafe slash bar, met up with my uncle for beers one day last year. Ever since then, our families have been loosely intertwined, friendly but not too close. Alexei fixed my mom's wrecked car for a cheap price, in return I let his youngest daughter Yelena have free coffees whenever she pops over.
From what my father told me, Alexei's entire family, including his wife, were all involved in the family business of repairing cars, except for his eldest daughter: Natasha, who turned out to be an FBI agent living in Quantico. Dad says they're proud of her but they miss her.
"(Y/N)," my brother calls from the kitchen. I put down my phone and find him balancing three plates of sandwiches and a salad in his spindly arms.
He opens his mouth to explain the orders, but I cut him off.
"Alexei," I say, pointing to the bacon and egg sandwich. "A salad for Melina. The tuna and tomato roll is Yelena's. Did they want drinks?"
Peter nods. "Four coffees and a large bottle of water, they already have them."
I ruffle his hair to thank him and grab the plates, balancing the third on my forearm until I can place it on a tray. I carry it outside, years of waitressing practice keeping it balanced, and head towards the garage.
"Melina?" I call. Moments later the raven haired woman slips out of the office and smiles. She yells something in Russian that causes Yelena to slide out from under a silver BMW, covered in black grease. Alexei appears moments later wielding a spanner.
They hound me for their orders, gratefully patting my shoulder and carrying their food away to their separate stations. Yelena disappears into the shadows with her sandwich, and her father to his desk, but Melina simply brightens and says, "(Y/N), have you heard? Natalia is visiting."
"Yes!" Alexei yells around a mouthful of bread. "Family, reunion! Grandbabies!"
Melina hisses something in their mother tongue. I laugh, and then ask if Natasha was bringing her kids, though I wasn't aware she had any.
"He means nothing of it, Natalia is focused on work at the moment. Too focused, I think. No babies. No partner."
"Tell her about her penthouse!" Alexei encourages.
Melina flaps a hand at him in irritation. "Yes, well, she has broken up with Bruce, the shy scientist from work. And then Sharon, charming field operative, also from work. And now she refuses to date. Because of work."
I chuckle nervously. "Where are you going with this?"
Melina smiles innocently. "Nowhere. What happened to your last girlfriend, again? Your father mentioned something about . . ." The look in her eyes is enough to egg me on, though the subject is one I rarely speak of these days.
Rubbing the back of my neck, I say, "Carol left to travel Europe."
"Shame," she nods sympathetically. "You don't seem bothered. Are you not looking for a relationship?"
"Not actively, but I'm sure another troublemaker will find me. I don't have a good track record of steady relationships," I admit.
"Neither does Natalia!" Alexei shouts.
"Oh!" I say. "Does she want Carol's number? Or my friend Harley, she's not looking for commitment."
Yelena snickers. Alexei frowns. Melina chuckles. "No, no, Natalia needs someone she doesn't work with, and you need someone serious, and we need grandbabies before we die, since Yelena neglects it."
I flush a bright red. "Grandb— I'm— okay, first of all, neither of us have the equipment for that—"
"Neither did Dad," Yelena pipes up, referring to the fact that she and her sister were adopted.
"Hey!"
"(Y/N)!" Peter calls, rounding the corner. "Ned's coming over to pick me up, we need to finish our physics project. Uncle Ben should be here soon, can you manage the bar until he gets here?"
I jump onto the excuse and yell back affirmation, say a quick goodbye to Melina before speed-walking back to the cafe.
Peter leaves with Ned soon after, and Ben arrives at around the same time. I move to the kitchens while he takes over serving our regulars, as he's friendlier with them than me.
I work on making more sandwiches and tapas meals until four, when my shift ends. I kiss Uncle Ben on the cheek and head home.
The smell of paprikash greets me as I unlock the door to my apartment, which I guess means that my roommate is home. I call out a hello to her and head to the shower.
I groan happily as the hot water rains down on my front. I close my eyes and lean my head back, thinking over how strange the day had been, and lose myself in a trance of relaxation.
"(Y/N/N)!" Wanda barges in. I jump and almost slip grabbing the shower curtain to cover my body as I peek out at her.
"I'm naked," I hiss.
She ignores me and holds up two clothes hangers. "Pantsuit or dress?"
I push my wet hair out of my face. "Uh, are you bar-hopping with Vision or going to a family dinner?"
"Get together with some friends," she explains. "Vis, Sam, Steve and some guy named Bucky who I'm informed we're supposed to be pretending Steve isn't in love with, do you know him?"
"Nope."
"Okay, well, he's bringing some friends, so I'm bringing you. Don't make that face, you know almost everyone."
"I don't feel like getting drunk," I complain.
"Good! You can be the designated driver. Pantsuit or dress?"
Grumbling, I tell her, "Dress."
"Okay, thanks, you wear the pantsuit, be ready by seven. May the Force be with you!"
She ducks as I throw my shampoo bottle at her. We bicker and mock and tease as I pat myself dry and she changes into the scarlet dress. While she braids her hair, I carefully slip into the navy and white striped pantsuit, and we move into her bedroom to make use of her vanity, since the sun's lowering position in the sky shone straight into the window while my room would be encased in dimness by now. I sit in the chair and she leans over me, brushing her eyelashes with delicate mascara. We fall into our normal going-out-getting-ready rhythm, periodically handing each other different brushes, comparing lipstick shades, and commenting on our days. She tells me about her brother's latest shenanigans and I make the grave mistake of commenting on Melina's attempted set-up earlier today, much to Wanda's entertainment. The two had never met but they both shared the pure ecstasy that came with matchmaking involving me.
"Do you think she's pretty?" Wanda wonders.
"I've seen photos," I shrug. "She's a redhead. Yelena says she changes hairstyles often."
"That doesn't answer my question! Pretty redhead or no?"
"They were baby photos, Wanda! I didn't have an opinion on her looks past the Wonder Woman pajamas."
She hums, and turns to draw a small heart under my left eye with her gel liner pen. "It would be nice if you wound up with her, but if you do fall madly in love with her beautiful red locks and decide to move to Washington to marry her and have her babies, I will murder you. You pay your rent on time and you're fun and please, please do not make me move back in with my brother."
"Why does everyone keep bringing up babies?" I yell.
An hour later we're pulling up to the bar in the back of a cab arguing about getting a cat. The debate of whose bathroom would host the litter tray is interrupted by Wanda spotting Vision through the window and quickly smacking my arm and hissing at me to hurry up and pay so she can sneak in and scare him. Unfortunately, I can't locate my purse inside my bag.
"(Y/N), (Y/N), go, go, go . . ."
"Wanda, Wanda, going, going, going . . . Aha!" I pay the driver and find myself being ushered inside before I can put my purse back in my bag.
Sam, a friend of Wanda's from college, ends up foiling her evil master plan by pointing her out as soon as she walks in the door. Vision, being a good sport, pretends to be startled when she yells "BOO!" in his ear. As she cackles manically before sliding into the chair beside him, I notice the only free space is by the pretty blonde woman beside a man with brown hair pulled into a bun.
"Oh, look who I dragged out with me!" Wanda exclaims, taking a sip of Vision's drink and making a grand gesture with her hands. "(Y/N)!"
I'm greeted with a chorus of hello's. I bow and grin as I sit by the woman and offer a polite smile. Steve leans over points to the brunet man. "This is Bucky, we were close as friends. As kids. We were close as friends, when we were kids."
Sam snorts into his beer.
Steve clears his throat awkwardly. "And this is his partner from work, Nat."
I get a closer inspection and my eyes widen in shock. "Natalia?"
"Her name is Natasha." Steve corrects.
"I thought her name was Natalie?" Vision frowns.
"She goes by Nat, who cares?" Sam shrugs.
"Natalia Alianovna Romanova?" Wanda yelps. "(Y/N)! You didn't tell me this was the Natalia!"
"The what? I— Do I know you two?" Natasha asks, bewildered.
"Not me!" Wanda says, and then makes a motion for zipping her lips shut.
Everyone turns to me. I chuckle nervously. "I should probably explain. Hi, I'm (Y/N), your parents want me to have your babies."

Funfact from tvtopes:. "If Parker had more ambition and less sense of responsibility for the well being of other people, Osborn is what he could be. Is Spider-man allowed himself to have more fun, and care less about doing what is right or beneficial, he'd be like the Goblin." This doesn't remind you of anything?
Really makes you think, doesn't it? Like, I think we all know that 'With great power comes great responsibility' is a quote attributed to Spiderman but it really hits home when we remember that Peter's Uncle Ben died because Peter shirked some kind of responsibility (I think in one iteration Ben went looking for Peter because Peter went out late to buy eggs because he didn't bother to get them earlier? idk), and he also had the power to act against some wrongdoings (ie. armed robbery).
Pardon my language but Peter fucked around and found out. And he acted on that, he learned his lesson, he no longer fucks around when he should be helping. That's Spiderman's whole thing!! If you have power, you have responsibility to help.
On the other hand we have...Adrien Agreste aka Privileged McGee who continues to fuck around every. single. episode. And never finds out and will continue to never find out because: Privileged McGee.
Peter has a compelling story of a teenage boy coming to grips with superpowers while also juggling his financial troubles, and becoming a better person for it and Adrien...is a spoiled little shit-head.
If we'd seen Adrien in the first season fucking around then finding out and spending the following seasons improving himself that would be a compelling arc and story for him.
But like I said before, the whole show and team behind it refuse to acknowledge that Adrien desperately needs to get his head out of his ass, so that'll never happen.
Adrien has two goals: get Ladybug (whatever that means) and have fun. These are the only things he cares about. These are the only things we've been show he cares about.
Time and time again we've seen Adrien prioritise having fun over people's safety, and not just strangers, no, the very first episode features Adrien partying while his "best friend" is under the control of a supervillain and his classmates are all there, obviously potentially to be supervillained on.
A couple episodes like that before Adrien got a wake-up call and he spent his time working to be less selfish and more responsible, that'd be delightful. But four. Freaking. Seasons? Plus movies??? Not on. Not freaking on.
Adrien is like Goblin, but if the entirety of NYC treated Goblin like Spiderman's sidekick and/or lover and not one of his worst enemies. Jeez!

I haven't really read any Spiderman comics, and I have never heard of Mysterio (that's the name of the guy Jake Gyllenhaal is playing right?) before. From what I saw in the trailer he seems like a good guy but when I went through the Marvel Wiki that doesn't seem to be the case? You're the resident expert on all Spiderman so I've come to you! Thank you in advance (whether or not you want to answer/get around to answering)
Jake Gyllenhaal is playing Mysterio, and in every comics continuity I can think of, Mysterio is a villain. Mysterio’s civilian name is Quentin Beck and he was a movie special effects expert before he became a supervillain. He uses that special effects knowledge to create complex illusions as a hallmark of his supervillain career. In short, he’s a super cool and very meta candidate for the villain of a supervillain movie – if he’s playing the villain. Like you mentioned, so far in the trailers and in interviews given the MCU’s Mysterio has been cast in the light as a good guy, a supposed traveler from another earth and an introduction to the multiverse. Promotional material has shown Peter interacting with him with his mask off, which, even if this Mysterio is a good guy, I really hate because frivolity with his identity even among the good guys is something no version of Peter Parker has ever been known for before, and it makes him seem very irresponsible and careless. But let’s move on.
Now, as many people have already pointed out, MCU Mysterio could be lying. Lying is, after all, what a showman supervillain who creates complex illusions does, and this is an adaptation of the character who once made Matt Murdock question whether a baby was the antichrist. (Comics!) So it’s not out of the realm of possibility that the plot of Far From Home is that this Mysterio is claiming to be from the multiverse and has somehow… tricked the greatest intelligence community in this fictional world… including Nick Fury himself… to, I don’t know, rob Venice or whatever?
But let’s leave the question of whether or not this Mysterio is lying for possibly nefarious purposes aside for a sec. I want to tackle two things about the decisions being made here that I really, really don’t like. The first is related to the mask issue I talked about a little above. Mysterio is being peddled in interviews with director Jon Watts as something of a mentor figure for MCU Peter:
“We thought it might be interesting to play Mysterio as almost like the cool uncle,” Jon Watts said. I mean, “interesting” is a word for taking a supervillain and making him into a mentor figure but I think if there’s one word you can’t throw around in Spider-Man without some serious consequences for your narrative, it’s uncle. Not only does the big Endgame spoiler appear to be affecting MCU’s Peter in Far From Home far more than they’ve even bothered to reference Uncle Ben, now Jon Watts is calling Mysterio “almost like the cool uncle.” It’s a real slap in the face to Peter’s origin story to discuss the character using that term no matter how the Mysterio storyline in the film ends up going down.
The second issue is something I often reference talking about the MCU’s Spider-Man adaptation decisions, and that’s the Miles Morales problem. Now, whether or not this Mysterio is from another earth or whether he’s lying, we have to address that there is a comic involving Mysterio, Nick Fury, and the multiverse: Spider-Men. Spider-Men is the first comic wherein Peter Parker meets Miles Morales when he himself accidentally travels to the multiverse. So once again we’ve taken the trappings from a comic that featured Miles and then removed Miles from them so Peter gets to be the plucky young Spider-Man coming into his own.
(Spider-Men #4)
I think Mysterio’s a really interesting choice for the villain of the piece because like I said it’s very meta to use a character who traditionally worked in film in the comics within your movie adaptation – if the villain is in fact what he’s playing. If he’s not, and I’m not making any assumptions at this point, I don’t really see the point of using this specific character in the film when there are so many Spider-Man characters, both good and bad, to adapt, and the multiverse angle borrowing from yet another comic featuring Miles Morales annoys me.
