Happy 120th birthday to Peter Lorre!

Here is a small portrait I drew of him over the last week. The reference was a photo of him taken in the 1940s, I think.

Peter Lorre is in my top four favourite actors, I always love seeing him in a film. He��s also so fun to draw, he’s got such a great face! We share the same Zodiac sign too (Cancer the crab ♋️)!

I’m pretty happy with how this drawing turned out, it’s probably my most accurate so far. I wish my shading had been a bit less grainy; I think it’s because I (accidentally) used a 2B to shade instead of an HB, which is what I usually use for portraits this size. The suit didn’t really come out how I wanted it too either - I wanted it to look more like the one in last year’s drawing. But I don’t hate it, it’s just always annoying when it doesn’t come out like I intended.

I did my best to copy his signature at the bottom.

I decided to use a different guideline method as a base this time. Instead of starting with a circle and adding the jawline underneath which is what I usually do, I started off with a cross to get the right angle, then drew the outline around it. This turned out to be a lot quicker and somehow more accurate. Probably because I always spend way too long trying to draw a good circle in the right area of the page!

Oh, I've seen these for a long time, but I didn't understand the Good Omens at that time. Anyway, it brought me a great shock.This is really great! !I was very happy when I saw these works of art, and I am very happy now. I will watch them often.

That's why I say Sakuras are gods.That's the truth. You brought miracles, and then I can feast my eyes on them.hhhh

Peter Lorre - The Maltese Falcon

This stopped me in my scrolling tracks on Facebook. I love the atmosphere, this moment caught in amber, the heartbreak in those eyes, the calculation just behind.

There was no attribution on the post. Google Image Search isn't finding it - could be user error - and I can't decipher the signature. Looks like it was done in 2020?

Portrait of Peter Lorre I drew last year for his 119th birthday.

I still quite like this one, despite having improved a lot since drawing it. It was the first time I used aquarelles in a graphite drawing, which I really liked the result of and used again in other portraits. I drew this all in one day too, which is unusual for me.

HB graphite and mechanical pencils and Lyra aquarelles on 160 gsm paper.
