🦇🩷LAIR OF THE WHITE WORM (1988)🩷🦇
Another all-time favorite movie of mine that I need absolutely everyone I know to watch at least once lol. Loosely based off of the Bram Stoker novella of the same name, from the wonderful mind of Ken Russel, it’s bizarre, it’s erotic, it’s extremely fun. A small English town becomes involved in the resurrection of a previously slayed ancient monster (the titular White Worm, of course) as it is brought back to power by its alluring and devoted follower, Lady Sylvia Marsh. Teaming up to unravel the mystery of the monster and defeat it are a Scottish archaeologist (played by young Peter Capaldi), the descendant of the original worm-slayer (played by young Hugh Grant), and a pair of sisters (played by some actresses who are not as famous as Peter Capaldi or Hugh Grant, though apparently one of them is the daughter of the former Princess of Yugoslavia so that’s kinda crazy, I just learned that rn). Lady Sylvia is not much of a vampire in a traditional sense, but I still feel like she deserves to be on my little list anyway.
Sixteenth (and last) drawing in my lesbian vampire illustration series :)and you can buy the original drawing HERE :)

This is probably an old topic but I want to rant briefly about Russell T Davies' reasoning for having the 13th Doctor's clothes regenerate, because it just doesn't make any sense to me even from a metatextual point of view.
First of all, David Tennant has been in drag many, MANY times throughout his career.
Now, there is legitimate discussion to be had over whether all of these portrayals are respectful, because most of them are played for comedy. But my point is that he has not been made into a laughing stock by the media because of this, and as someone who struggles with their gender identity, it is validating to see a man comfortable enough with his masculinity to not only perform in these roles but honestly slay in them.
But wait, why are we talking about drag anyway?
Jodie Whittaker's costume was created to be intentionally androgynous.
The entire point of 13's outfit is that anyone can wear it, so the decision to not allow it to carry over to the next Doctor completely goes against that vision. If the concern is that David Tennant won't be able to fit in her clothes because he's so much taller, why not tailor a version of the outfit that fits him better?
In recent years, the Doctor is shown to be above gender stereotypes. 13 is able to wear Peter Capaldi's outfit post-regeneration and unashamedly sport a tuxedo for an episode and a half. If anything, not allowing the same for a male Doctor reinforces the idea that a man wearing women's clothes- or in this case, ANDROGYNOUS clothes- is just silly. It would be one thing if the explanation came from an actual drag queen; I would still disagree but I could at least respect their wishes, but it comes across as RTD trying to speak for the community.
I am excited to watch the 60th anniversary specials when I get to them, but everything surrounding David's return to the show was mishandled imo.

You know what I think...
It's time we start talking about Peter Capaldi.
When we talk about Doctor Who and our favourite modern doctors, we always go round and round in the same circles:
"David Tennant is the greatest Doctor!"
"No way! Matt Smith brought this goofy nature to the character, while maintaining the Doctor's eternal darkness!"
"Please! Nine was funny and sassy and just overall great. He deserved more credit. Eccelston was the best Doctor!"
And sometimes even a:
"I think that although she had to endure poor writing, a female Doctor was refreshing!"
I agree with this of course, and every Doctor brings something with them, you know who we don't post enough about? Or even generally talk about enough?
Peter fucking Capaldi. I seriously think he might be one of the most underrated Doctors of the modern era and It's a WASTE.
From the very beginning he was just amazing. "Do you know how to fly this thing?" ICONIC. His first episode was pure crack in the very best way. (The way he flirted with the dinosaur, anybody?)
Capaldi had this amazing connection with Jenna as Clara (Although I am a Clara stan idc so I might be a little biased about that) and their dynamic was so much fun to watch.
Not unlike David Tennant Peter is such a fan of the show. (As was confirmed by Jenna) But is also nice about it too. He doesn't go around just correcting everyone, but he wants everyone to know what an amazing show it is and wants people to love it just as much as he does.
Also 12 was so iconic??? Fighting fucking Robin Hood with a spoon? Awesome! Rolling into the middle ages on a fucking tank, calling people "Dude", making puns and dumb jokes and above else SLAYING that guitar?! Yes! A thousands times Yes! Just the best space grandpa ever!
Capaldi is so unhinged and has this chaotic energy while still appearing as the sanest person in the room. Just look up some stories about him fucking around on the set.
It was also very refreshing to see an older Doctor. I mean, I think Capaldi wad the oldest guy to play the Doctor since HARTNELL. He still had this youthful energy, but he just seemed so DONE with everyones bullshit. 12 handled things with a certain maturity that I kinda loved.
Like he has life experience, he KNOWS what his actions will cause and that's GOOD to see of the Doctor. And at the same time he's also forgiving himself for all the things he's done, which is even BETTER.
And don't even talk to me about his relationship with his companions and Missy. First of all the latter gives me life. And his relationship with Bill was so good y'all. I mean, he punched a racist in the face for her. (ICON!!!!) And were just adorable.
And my final point, the biggest point: Peter Capaldi is just an AMAZING actor. We all love "Heaven sent" and It's just the greatest episode EVER and this is party because Moffat wrote it so beautifully, but also because of Capaldi's Jaw dropping performance!!! If he wasn't SUCH an amazing actor the episode would have never worked. And I am certain of this fact. He did that y'all! HE. DID. THAT.
Capaldi gave some of the best speeches and performances in Doctor Who history. And everyone sleeps on it, and I say "No more!" Also his line. "Do you think I care for you so little that betraying me would make a difference?" DONE, SOBBING ON THE DAMN FLOOR. I need to say with this that I'm NOT an emotional person at all. But somehow that line hit me right in the feels and never stopped.
So yeah
Eccelston was hilarious and fun and amazing
David was awesome and I think It's definitely deserved that he goes down in history as one of the greatest Doctors.
Matt had some heartwrenging moments that I'll never get over, was as cool as bowties and just lovely
And Jody was unique and ADORABLE!
But y'all are SLEEPING on Peter Capaldi and 12 and that is SO undeserved.
Mister Capaldi Sir, if you ever see this, (You probably won't, but that's okay. I hope it does though) just know, that I love and adore you so much and think you are one of the greatest actors and human beings in the history of everything. And you DESERVE to know that. I will forever be proud to say that 12 that is my favourite Doctor of all time. And I say this without half a doubt in my mind. I'm a proud Peter Capaldi stan until the end of time. And just know that I and so many more people along with me have so much LOVE for you. (Most of us not in a creepy way though) and you are CRIMINALLY underrated.
Thank you so much for reading my rant.
This has been a Peter Capaldi/12th Doctor appreciation post. And I invite you to reblog this and show your love for the best Doctor. Only positivity though, stay nice.

James D’Ampton (Hugh Grant) returns to his country castle in England. Legend has it that James’s distant ancestor once slayed the local dragon — a monstrous white worm with a fondness for the sweet flesh of virgins. The young lord dismisses the legend as folklore, until archaeology student Angus Flint explores James’s property and unearths a massive reptilian skull and a pagan snake god’s ancient site of worship. When James’s virtuous girlfriend, Eve Trent (Catherine Oxenberg), suddenly disappears, James and Angus set out to investigate the foreboding cavern said to be the worm’s lair, where a centuries-old mystery begins to uncoil.

Jodie and chibnall went out of their way to be inclusive with jodie's doctor outfit. She wanted everyone to be able to wear it. If it was good enough for Sacha Dhawan to wear her costume then it was good enough for David Tennant. If I recall David Tennant has worn clothing that could be considered feminine in other projects (he had a mary poppins look in good omens) I do not see how a trench coat, a rainbow top, suspenders and 3/4 trousers with boots is considered to be drag.
I wore Jodie's costume to a pop culture dress up day at my work and nobody thought it to be drag and a co worker of mine (who looks like sacha dhawan funnily enough) thought it looked really cool. Also, why was it okay for John Simm to wear at least two dresses in the end of time specials when he created the master race. Why were there no concerns about "weaponising drag" back then.
Why was it okay for Jodie to wear Peter capaldi's costume but David Tennant couldn't wear hers? I just hope that there's at LEAST an explanation in the specials (say like if it was an effect of the forced regeneration/degeneration or it has something to do with the villian's plan in the 60th) rather than when the 14th doctor regenerates the costume doesn't change and no explanation is given as to how that's happened again. If Chibnall did this he would be hauled over the coals yet when RTD does anything it's magically okay. It's a double standard and I hate it.
All this. I totally agree, the answer of drag, must be a lie he thought would sound legit and progressive enough that he would get away with it because the British media are so horrible.
Well I would love to know how he’s protecting all his LGBTQAI+ cast now against the British media or does he just protect the one straight white man who, let’s be honest, would probably not care if the British media decided to say anything about him regening into 13s costume, and also it was expected I think it made it more of a story because he didn’t regen into Jodie’s costume then if he had, and considering Sacha did it in the exact same episode and the horrible media didn’t bother to do anything with it makes the situation even more bizarre. And if they didn’t want him wearing it in the comics they could have just released the promo photos and he could have gotten it in the comic like he lost the sonic in the comic.
And you’re absolutely right I’ve seen so many Men and non binary people absolutely slay 13s cos play and it’s amazing because it is so gender neutral that I bet people out side the fandom wouldn’t even know it’s a ‘females’ costume, unlike all the suits the doctors have worn which people would likely assumed are men’s. Those actors never considered how their costumes would work for women.
It also stings more because of the lengths Jodie went with designing it to make sure everyone could wear it but it seems the only one who couldn’t was her next incarnation!
And what’s worse is that Power is a 13 doctor episode that’s meant to celebrate her and her time as the Doctor and in the final scene he chose to just completely disrespect her and now makes fun of us complaining we feel she’s being erased… your literal first action was erasing her, obviously the body gets changed out but you BURNT her clothes, like a metaphor for a witch, then her sonic in a comic, they didn’t add her sonic at all to 14s which is a celebration of all of who, and then come out with no books and only 1 audio from BBC sounds nothing from Big Finish, not even the fugitive doctor or master audios the have had on pre order for over a year, and then go ‘but I have her TARDIS exterior’ the one thing no one cares they keep as it gets an update every few years anyway it’s the least Jodie item they could possibly keep.
It’s all so disappointing because he Cleary wouldn’t do it to his cast just thought Jodie didn’t matter.
*just to note women also slay in the costume but in the context here it’s obviously about a man wearing it.

hello folks!!! it is time for doctor who series 9 rankings!!!
1. Heaven Sent (9x11) - peak. fucking. doctor who. one of my (and many other's) favourite episodes of ALL TIME and for a REASON!!!! it's so clever and well written and well acted and it's visually GORGEOUS like!!! peter capaldi is so good and i firmly believe he's the only actor who could've pulled this off, basically a 50 minute monologue come on man!!! i wish i could watch it for the first time again it's brilliant
2. Face the Raven (9x10) - SO GOOD!!! i love rigsy and i'm so glad he came back haha. clara's death is actually so heartbreaking and SJSJSJ the conversation between her and the doctor omg THE WAY SHE USES HER LAST MOMENTS TO MAKE SURE HE WON'T SEEK REVENGE OR ANYTHING OMG i love that!!! and it's also like visually so so so beautiful like visuals are a big part of how much i enjoy an episode as you might have noticed if you've seen my rankings before, like honestly i don't care too much about if the cgi is good or not etc. but them colours and lights and stuff need to be right!!!!!
3. Under the Lake/Before the Flood (9x3/9x4) - this is, again, SO good, i LOVE timey wimeyness doctor who should do WAY MORE timey wimeyness like you're a time travel show, USE IT!!!! i like the side characters and the beginning of before the flood with 12 explaining bootstrap paradox to the audience is so great and THE FADE FROM 12'S GUITAR TO THE THEME!!! it makes me so happy
4. Hell Bent (9x12) - is it a perfect episode? no. but i think it gets SO MUCH undeserved hate. i love love love clara in this, and the scene where her or the doctor have to forget everything is so good imo. i'm really interested in gallifrey and i haven't seen much of classic who yet so i take every scene in new who very gratefully and with great interest. i THINK people criticise the episode for having 12 suddenly be so ready to kill and stuff, and in any other episode i'd agree, but after heaven sent and the way his and clara's relationship is so codependent and toxic, it makes complete sense in my opinion. i loved when the doctor and me met at the end of the universe it was interesting imo, and i LOVEEEE that clara and me's TARDIS is the same one 11, river and the ponds were in series 6!!! and i like the way first you think clara has forgotten stuff but then you find out it's 12 who did (idk if it was obvious to everyone else but me, you can fool me so so so easily it's not even funny i believe almost anything the plot wants me to believe. which probably greatly affects the fact that i can enjoy doctor who so easily.) yeah i really really enjoy this episode
5. Last Christmas (9x0) - honestly why don't people talk about this episode more?? like it's SO interesting and just a bit scary, i love love love the idea of dreams inside dreams, like i don't really have complaints about this episode tbh it's really great and has a fascinating concept
6. The Husbands of River Song (9x0) - this is peak comedy i was laughing half of the duration of the episode probably, i love river obviously, and i liked her and 12 together. gotta love nardole as well lmao. i don't have much to say except SLAY socialist 12 and this is so funny like 80% of the run time, which is how a christmas special should be
7. The Girl Who Died (9x5) - i like this one!! 12 acting like he's a norse god and then the guy appearing in the sky and 12 tries to impress everyone with a yoyo was absolutely hilarious to me, that's peak humour in my mind. me was a bit annoying in this one can't lie like this is my least favourite me appearance, because HOW was she so stupid like girl i know those random guys you live with would've started fighting without a second thought but you're so much cleverer than them come on, but whatever, i forgive her i did care about her in the end. i loved the 12th doctor realising why he chose the face like YASSS GIRL!!!! and them making the video was so funny and random i ADORE 12 and clara in this, and i love the theme of immortality it's very interesting and i love when it's explored in doctor who
8. The Zygon Invasion/The Zygon Inversion (9x7/9x8) - i think it's. good. i love clara controlling the zygon it was sooo interesting and the sort of space she's in felt so weird and interesting i loved it, and obviously the doctor's speech is fantastic and peter capaldi delivers it perfectly. however, i do think it's not that well paced or something, like sometimes it feels really slow and sometimes everything is happening at once, and basically reasons to watch it would be 12's speech and jenna coleman. i did like osgood as well tho and obviously i'm the biggest kate lethbridge-stewart stan i take anything with her even if she's in it for 2 seconds
9. The Magician's Apprentice/The Witch's Familiar (9x1/9x2) - i LOVE the doctor and davros' interactions and missy and clara are brilliant together. i love missy. the opening is brilliantly funny, i adore 12 SO MUCH, i love that he plays his guitar god knows in what century and teached the people the word "dude" i LOVE that, and how he just appeared in his davros chair and had tea what an icon i'm his biggest fan, i don't care if it makes no sense i'm here for the entertainment and that's what i got. but like i mentioned in the last series ranking... steven moffat does NOT understand the daleks. i respect him a lot as a writer, but he can't for the life of him write the daleks. "Into the Dalek" i can excuse because it's fun enough and the radiation is probably affecting the creature's biology, but this episode acting like the cases or armour or whatever are the ones controlling how the daleks act is just bullshit, the daleks are a genetically engineered race full of hate, not just some random squid aliens inside propaganda cases for god's sake. funny how the daleks of this dalek episode are the worst thing in it
10. The Woman Who Lived (9x6) - i enjoy this episode, i don't think it's bad, but it's not good enough to deserve to be higher on this list. me is an interesting enough character and i like that she doesn't remember everything, it's really fascinating. i also like how she's pretty much morally grey, a bit like the doctor. yeah, it's enjoyable but nothing special imo, and sometimes i just. didn't get the plot, which i understand and can excuse because it focuses on me and the doctor but i dislike the plot and the lion alien
11. Sleep No More (9x9) - it is a bit boring isn't it? i don't actively hate it, and i really appreciate the way it's filmed, i think it's really cool. i LOVE that we're kinda the monsters there and that it's a sort of video, but it doesn't save it from the fact that it's utterly tedious

Keep slaying, Cardinal Richelieu!
If I had a nickel for every time a Scottish actor who supported trans rights played the doctor
