CBS Ghosts Hotel Au
Here’s a synopsis of an au I’ve had for Ghosts for quite a while:
Samantha Woodstone, determined to get her bed and breakfast on the map, agrees to host a big event which the hosts will play handsomely. Problem? She has two weeks to prepare and needs a new head chief. She soon meets the perfect candidate, Jay Arondekar, an excellent chief however how long will it take before her boss and employee relationship take a turn?
Meanwhile, checking into the bed and breakfast is newly divorced dad Pete Martino and his daughter Laura, wanting to spend time with her before she moved off for college. His daughter, however worried that her dad may never find love again after her mom. Fortunately, the odds turn into her favor as her father pines over entertainer/singer, Alberta Hayes. A woman with a determination to get out of a contract with her manger/cheating bootlegger boyfriend and away from her creepy stalker.
Elsewhere, Issac Higgintoot tries to become co-manger at the hotel, however Nigel Chessum, an old British rival from his years in law school. As their friendly rivalry continues as they fight for the job, Isaac makes a discovery about himself he wasn’t prepared for. The question reminds, will Nigel feel the same?
Native American, Sasappis, is determined to get the spotlight as head performer at the BNB. To get an okay from Sam, he must perform a groundbreaking story, requiring him to find a muse. As the week progresses, he reunites with an old childhood friend and crush of his, Shiki, he believes he finds his muse. Unfortunately, he meets Jessica, one of the two new interns. He soon finds himself in one of his favorite tropes of all, the love triangle.
Looking to reconnect with his son, Thor agrees to a job as security guard at the BNB. As he sees his son again and his grandchildren, Thor struggles to overcome his prejudice beliefs to be a part of his son’s life again. Fortunately for him, he meets former cult member and hippie, Susan ‘Flower’ Montero. As he spends more time with her, determined to let go of his hot-headed behavior, he soon realizes his feelings for her go far beyond platonical.
Finally, the host of the event Elias and Hetty Wood along with their son Thomas, stay at the hotel for Elias and Hetty to renew their vows. Hetty just can’t wait for this to be over, tired of her stale marriage. However, she meets young, finance bro, Trevor Leftkowitz. The young man, desperate to get teenage girl, Stephine to stop hitting on him, he and Hetty set up a strangers with benefits situation. As time past though and the ceremony comes up, Hetty wonders if staying married to Elias is truly worth it.
Unbeknownst to the majority, an evil scheme created by Elias lurks around. A plan made to steal ownership of the BNB and ruin Sam’s life.
Through friendship, change, and love, these strangers’ lives all intertwined in the span of just two weeks. The only question left is, will love triumph or will they be left miserable?
I may or may not write a fic of this. I don’t know yet.

assorted ghosts headcannons
-pete and flower have a nice friendship because they both enjoy nature and pete loves teaching flower about different birds and plants and things (he sees her almost as one of his scouts and she looks up to him kinda like an older brother)
-hetty was so excited when alberta ended up staying as a ghost because there was finally another woman around and because she enjoyed albertas singing
-trevor is secretly invested in bodices and barons but pretends he just watches it cause it’s the only thing on and he hates it sooooo much
-hetty calls flower susan sometimes like how she calls pete peter
-thor wants sam and jay to have a kid in hopes they can see him just like hetty did
-alberta and sasappis be gossiping to no end
-pete and trevor are actually pretty good friends and watch 80s movies together cuz they remind trevor of his childhood and pete just didn’t have time to watch them when he was alive
ok that’s it the end

ONE DANCE, PLEASE?
pairing: trevor lefkowitz x ghost bride!reader
summary: since your death, weddings at Woodstone have been a source of bitterness for you but that doesn’t stop trevor from attempting to cheer you up with a dance
word count. 1.6k || masterlist
warnings: fem!reader, mentions of death, dead!reader
a/n: this is my first ghosts fic so please be gentle! I love the idea of a ghost bride and debated on making it into an OC or reader story. I think I like having it be in little one-shots! it’s a crime more hasn’t been written for trevor (or any of the show’s characters). feel free to request for trevor or any other ghosts characters <3
“Are you going to mope around for eternity?” Sasappis asked you, standing arms crossed in front of a beautiful garden decorated to the nines. The backdrop to your sulking was stunning flowers tied in bunches and pastel dresses moving around the patio-turned-dance floor.
“Is that not the point of being a ghost?” you replied, jutting out your feet forever stuck in kitten heels and skin-colored pantyhose. Sass lightly kicked your foot with his and nodded his head to the corner just off the dance floor where the rest of the ghosts danced and laughed. A part of you was jealous of how easily they enjoyed themselves at weddings and how they were not plagued with an eternal hatred for them and what they represented.
It always felt like a cruel joke, even though it never had anything to do with you, when Sam and Jay hosted a wedding at their B&B. As much as you loved the couple, you couldn’t stand what most considered a joyous event. The union of two people in love, not tainted by tragedy, grew your restatement each time. Weddings were a part of the business and helped Sam and Jay bring in the money they desperately needed to fix up the mansion, but that didn’t mean you had to enjoy yourself. Instead, you spent each event sulking on the sidelines, ignoring the pang in your chest, and avoiding your ghostly counterparts' advances to cheer you up. The only thing that would’ve cheered you up was a do-over of your big day that was ruined by a strike of unluckiness, resulting in your untimely death.
Sass narrowed his gaze at you but decided against saying whatever he wanted to. Instead, he turned on his heel and headed back to the ghosts. You adverted your gaze back down to the beads sewn into your dress, picking at them with the wish you could pull the garment apart with your hands, but since it was what you died in, it would forever stick to you.
A slow song played through the DJ’s speakers as the sun slowly began to set over the yard. Strung lights glittered warmly, bathing the attendees in a golden glow. The bride had looked radiant since she arrived at the mansion days ago, and all day you had to watch her and her husband’s love run circles around you. Your malice wasn’t aimed directly at the happy couple, but rather at what they represented and the reminder of what you almost had.
Someone appeared beside you, their presence clouding your solitude-sulking. “What a bunch of losers,” the person said, causing you to turn your head and meet Trevor. “I mean, seriously, this song was lame when I went to weddings and people are still dancing to it? I get the appeal of throwbacks but let’s pick this snooze-fest up a little, am I right?”
You rolled your eyes. “What do you know about weddings?”
“I happen to have been invited to a lot of them, thank you very much. Well, the receptions and bachelor parties, usually. Those weddings had a lot more alcohol and single bridesmaids.” You said nothing in response, hoping your dimly lit mood would shoo Trevor away. You were mistaken, though. If anything, your silence only encouraged him further. He moved in closer to your side, standing with his hands on his hips as he gazed out across the crowd. “I think they may need some help livening things up a bit. Care to join me?”
He often tried to do that, brighten your mood by offering to dance with you. And every time you turn him down, not because you didn't want to, but because you’re worried that the second you start to enjoy yourself at a wedding, tragedy will follow a second time around. You liked Trevor and couldn’t stand the thought of enjoying yourself only to hurt yourself, again, or him. In your head, as long as you moped around, everything would stay the same as they were, which you loved more than you’d admit aloud. You liked your ghost-mates and you liked Sam and Jay. If you somehow brought some unfortunate curse upon any of them because you enjoyed yourself just as you had on your own wedding day, you weren’t sure you could cope with that a second time around, not when you hardly coped with it from the first time.
“Trevor…” you sighed, defeated and slumped-shouldered.
Normally, he dropped it after that. He usually sat quietly at your side until his excitement and urge to join the party overwhelmed him and he resumed dancing with Flower or attempting to play pranks on the livings with Thorfinn. That time, however, he took you by surprise. He moved directly in front of you, face set with a certain tone of seriousness that was odd.
“Nope,” he said, simply. “You are not moping for eternity. I won’t let you.”
“That’s not your choice.”
He smirked, cheekily and annoying but stupidly charming. Those three words suited him too well. Trevor extended his hand out, making a grabbing motion with his hand. “One dance, that’s all I’m askin’. That’s all I need to change your mind.” You tightened your grip on the skirt of your dress, unbudging at his request. “One dance. Please?” His voice was a little lower, pleading almost.
One dance. You never got to dance at your wedding. Something bad could happen, it probably would.
Trevor’s fingers grazed your knuckles, tapping them lightly and looking at you in a way, underneath the golden light, that made you consider it. He noticed your hesitation and dropped his hand back down at his side.
“Okay,” he said after a beat before he turned away with a little frown on his lips that made you feel even worse.
There was something wrong with you, maybe it was some kind of ghostly side effect of dying on your wedding day; perhaps you were doomed to live in the murky waters of what-if and why.
The bride and groom were in the middle of the patio dance floor, spinning each other around in quiet fits of laughter and bodies pressed as close as they could get with the bride’s fluffy dress. They were married, dancing as two halves of a whole with nothing bad lingering over their heads. There was no impending doom, aside from you sitting on the outskirts. The doom was you and your mind, rippled with jealousy, sadness, and a million questions of what exactly you could have done differently that day. But the truth was, there was nothing you could have done. Fate was fate, as Flower had once said in one of her more insightful conversations. Fate was messy and included bear attacks, arrows in necks, and accidents. Fate found you there, at the Woodstone mansion forever a fiancee but now entangled with the fates of your ghost friends who also found themselves there forever.
Forever was such a long, made even longer with eternity hanging on your shoulders. How many more weddings would you sit there, watching and sulking in your own unhappiness that others wanted to fix for you?
Something between a groan and a sigh left your lips as you stood up, letting your wedding dress fall back down to the ground in the pristine condition you had died in it in. “Trevor,” you said again, louder as you called after him. He stopped, slowly turning around with a confused quirk of his brow. You nervously picked at the beads again, but that time wasn’t to pick them off but rather settle them back in place in a similar way to how you had picked at them awaiting your turn to walk down the aisle. A dance was not nearly as monumental as that, but it carried a weight that pressed down on your chest.
“One dance,” you said. He stared at you for a moment like he wasn’t sure he had heard you right. It wasn’t until Thor punched him in the arm with a hardy laugh and Hetty pushed him forward towards you.
Trevor approached you, smoothing out his tie. “Really?” he asked.
You nodded. “If anything bad happens, I’m blaming it on you," you said only half joking.
He smiled, wide and toothy and the way that made you subconsciously want to copy it. “The worst thing that’ll happen is me stepping on your feet. I haven’t slow danced since prom.” Despite that, he dramatically bowed and extended his hand. “May I have this dance,” he said in a terrible accent. You couldn’t help but laugh lightly, some of that weight lifting from where it hurt your chest.
Once you accepted his hand, he all but dragged you to a quiet corner of the dance floor, away from where any livings would walk through you two, and away from the other ghosts and their suggestive smirks and comments pointed at the two of you.
When you danced, with his feet clumsily trying to avoid stepping on yours and hands rested on your waist, nothing bad happened. You did not die a second time around, nor did tragedy strike in the way you feared. The only thing that occurred was dancing, peppered with occasional laughter and a quick apology when Trevor stepped on your skirt and halted your movements. You recovered with a shake of your head and a slight lead in the dance, which he didn’t voice but silently appreciated.

Wish list for CBS ghosts season 4
Make Patience a recurring antagonist for at least 2-3 episodes before that story gets resolved and she gets regulated to a background character.
Patience character to be 50% good religious farm girl, 50% crazy witch. She also needs to have a wicked(ly cool) ghost power
More of Isaac loving dinosaurs
More solo development for Isaac
More of Isaac and Hetty's awesome friendship
No Nigel for a while. I do not like him. He did a lot of things in his and Isaac's relationship that are textbook abusive partner behavior.
I think it is about time for Jay's restaurant to start up, and I would like that to actually become pretty successful/profitable. Mostly because I would like Sam and Jay to have a bit more disposable income to do things around the manor, and I know the B&B is unlikely to become super busy next season (unless the show is ending , which I really do not want).
The difference in treatment between the above ground ghosts and basement ghosts to be addressed. I know after season 3 that they aren't going to move them all up stairs. But it would be nice if Sam and Jay could like furbish the basement , and then more Basement ghosts than just Nancy got invited to come upstairs for games or discussion.
Just to be clear I still want Nancy to keep making her frequent visits up stairs and hang out with the man 8. I just also would not mind seeing Stuart or another nameless basement ghost standing or walking by in the background on the occasion.
Explore Pete's power more. He does not need to hop on a plane and go across the country or anything, but let him keep going out into town and having adventures. Also let him keep going on dates with other random ghosts outside of the house.
I know that Pete&Alberta will probably happen at some point in season 4. The thing is though while that ship was cute in season 1, the way the ship was handled in season 2 soured it like milk to me. Both characters need a lot of development, and separate explorations of what they want out of a relationship, before I can ship them again.
H-Money is still a couple I kinda like. I do not expect them to get back together in season 4 (Please not another season that is fully devoted to coupling up all the character), but I would like them to start scheming together again. Let them figure out how to interact together as friends, and build a stronger foundation to eventually, in season 5 maybe, try again.
I have heard people suggest that Pete's power could maybe be extend to getting the other ghosts through the barrier if they are like holding onto Pete's hand. I want this. Now I know Sass will want to visit a Pizza Hut, and Issac a dinosaur museum, but I would say the most important thing to do with that would be to take Thor and Flower over to the Farnsby manor to visit Bjorn and his girlfriend Judy. It would also be cool if there was a lesbian ghost living there they could set up Nancy with. Since Nisaac is on a "respite" and queer representation (preferably healthy queer representation) is important.
Everyone remember in season 2 when we learned about Flower's super protective, formally MIA, army vet brother : Rob. You remember how the show's staff said they would love to have Rob come to the B&B for a visit, and were already considering actors who could play him? I want this episode. Also if you cannot directly tell Rob his sister is a ghost on the property, then can Trevor or Alberta use their powers to help Flower send a message to Rob. To say that she still loves him. I cannot deal that both siblings spent like 50 years thinking the other hated them when neither did. It is to sad.
It would be cool if we could also have Ira visit once too. I know Flower did not love him like she did Michael or does Thor, but he was still someone who was a big part of her life for a while, and knowing her cannonly had a large impact on his. Maybe we find that while he has done charities in her memory, trauma over watching her be killed by a bear has also lead him to sponsor bear hunts or poaching. Flower is horrified. Then Sam and Jay have to spend his visit looking for a way to convince him that is not what Flower would have wanted.
Four standard episodes for each season are a Halloween episode, an episode where Bela visits, one where Stephanie wakes up, and one where Crash appears and is slightly relevant. I have no idea what to do for an episode with Crash, but for the others
-Ghost animals on Halloween
-Home theater night for ghosts and guests on the night Stephanie wakes up, complete with all the drama of set up and shenanigans that going to the movies encores.
- Bela is broken up with Eric, she does not even like him. This time her and Jay's parents come with her for the visit. Bela wants all the latest gossip surrounding the ghosts, but they have to tip toe around the parents. Jay's dad does not fully support the B&B even without the knowledge that it is haunted, and Sam does not want to give her mother in law another reason to suspect that she might be crazy.
Owning back to the "Can Pete take the other ghosts off the property" theory, can Thomas Woodstone be a ghost who died visiting a neighbors property. We have no reason to see Elias again since he has decided to stay put in Hell. But Thomas reappearing could be interesting for both Hetty and Alberta. If he does show up though I want the twist to be that he is actually severally cognitively impaired (think Lenny from oMaM)... I mean the man was from an inbred family, played with lead based toys as a baby, had a cocaine addict mom, and a father who was a lot of things. He could not have been all there. Also address more on if Earl ever actually cared for any of the people he was two timing (again development that needs to happen to make Alberta want to go from dating an Earl to a Pete).
A Sasappis based episode that is not his death story. I feel like he needs at least one more episode exploring what his life alive was like, to be appropriately gutted when we learn about his secret death.
Actually maybe we can hold off on Sass's death and Hetty's ghost power until season 5. let's keep the element of mystery in the show for a little longer.

Season Finale: Who Got ‘Sucked Off’?
Wow, what an ending. But the big question remains. Which ghost got ‘sucked off’? (Moved on to heaven)
There’s already a LOT of speculation as to who they may be. So I’m going to go over them, along with what I believe might happen in season 3.
Nigel
People are saying now that Isaac and Nigel are engaged, it made Nigel so happy it caused him to move on. (Which I will boycott the fuckin show if that’s the case) But I don’t believe that to be the truth. Not with the rules the show has already set up with how a ghost gets ‘sucked off’. And for that, we have to go all the way back to the first season.
How A Ghost Gets ‘Sucked Off’
In season 1 episode 11 ‘Sam’s Mom’, we meet Sam’s mother Sheryl who became a ghost at a restaurant after having an allergic reaction to shrimp.
At the end of the episode, she’s able to move on to heaven after having a real heart to heart with Sam, telling her how proud of her she’s always been and has just wanted the best for her. And almost immediately she gets ‘sucked off’.
Now, back to Nigel.
People are saying ‘Well now that Nigel is engaged, he’d be so happy, this would have caused him to move on, right?’ But the answer is no. Not with how the logic of getting ‘sucked off’ is already put in place. Hetty even mentions this logic in the third episode of the series. She says and I quote, “Sometimes very rare occasions, when a ghost is able to resolve a long-standing issue, the heavens open up and whoosh, they get sucked off.”
This is exactly what happened with Sam’s mother. She was able to resolve her issues with her daughter, making her ‘unfinished business’ finished. What issues did Nigel put to rest? There wasn’t any. Now, you could say the ‘issue’ was him and Isaac not taking the next step in moving in together. But if that was the case, wouldn’t after Isaac proposed and said they could move in together would this have happened? Wouldn’t he have immediately been ‘sucked off’? But it didn’t happen. So it COULDN’T have been Nigel. So who was it? Who got ‘sucked off’?
Season 3 Predictions
Who I believe might have been the one who got ‘sucked off’.
I think it’ll be Nancy. And there’s a few reasons as to why I believe it’ll be her:
She had been more prominent in season 2 than she’s been in season 1. (And yes I know the same goes for Nigel but just hear me out)
She had been in the last three episodes of season two.
She has been shown to be more interactive with the other ghosts during their daily activities.
I feel like this season has been setting up for her departure from Woodstone. Even in her debut episode back in season 1, she explains to the other cholera ghosts that she ‘wants a better afterlife than this’. How she didn’t want to just stand around all day in the basement and do nothing. She wanted to feel a part of something. To be part of a group that feels like a family and something meaningful. And lately, the other ghosts have seemed to have accepted her to just be around too. They don’t seem to have a problem with her anymore. (Well except for Hetty of course) So with the feeling of being unwanted and not accepted gone, Nancy has finally made peace and when she realizes this, she’s able to move on.
Final Thoughts
Phew, so that’s what I believe might happen in the beginning of season 3. But for now, I guess we’ll just have to wait until the fall to see for sure.

Haunted Woodstone: Prologue
Back in the 1800s, there was a girl. She was born to a wealthy family.
This little girl was special, for she had the gift of seeing the undead.
She knew three ghosts on the property, they had been her friends, and caretakers since her parents were always absent.
Soon the little girl was no longer little. She grew into a beautiful young lady, but due to her older eyes, she could no longer interact with her only friends.
Eventually, she forgot about them, only remembering a few things they had taught her.
Once she was seventeen, she was forced into a marriage with her cousin. But he was an evil, cruel man, who was unfaithful to her and made her think less of herself with every breath he took.
One day, years later, a man was hired to work in the family stables. The woman took an instant dislike to him and he took an instant dislike to her.
But in that dislike, there was still respect.
Soon that respect blossomed into something else.
For the stable boy had fallen in love with the woman, and she had fallen in love with him. The two shared many kisses under the light of the moon.
A few moons later, the boy proposed they run away together, and that they get married instead.
Happily, the woman agreed, she would meet him at night in the stable and they would ride away together.
However, the woman's husband found out about them from one of the maids in the house.
He was furious and in a fit of rage he sought out an evil spirit. For he had sold his soul to the devil himself for power.
The husband devised a plan, he knocked on the stable boy's door in the middle of the night. The cunning man had lied to the stable boy and told him his wife had mysteriously died, and his services were no longer needed. The boy believed him instantly.
The stable boy was in despair, feeling as though he could not go on without his lover, he returned to the stables where he and her had their first kiss, and hung himself with the leather strap of her saddle.
The woman returned to the stable that night, wearing a stark white wedding gown and veil so they could get married. She found her lovers body hanging from the roof, she wailed in sadness.
Soon, she pieced together what had actually happened. She took hold of an axe and charged down the hallways of the mansion to the dining room.
She swung the blade to her husband's neck, decapitating him. After he was dead, she took her own life with a vile of poison to join her lover.
But sadly, the husband still had a grip on the two lovers in their afterlife. He had separated the stable boy and his wife from each other, locking one in the attic, and one was left roaming the house, looking for the other for eternity.
Soon the husband had to pay up for his powers. He had to make the earth and hell one. This could only work by collecting souls.
He had six already, but soon he gathered three more. A jazz singer, a troop leader, and a hippie.
All he needs is one more ghost to bring the mortal world to its demise.

UNVEILED
pairing. ghost-bride!reader x trevor lefkowitz
summary. requested. Out of all the mysteries that lived within the walls of the Woodstone Mansion, Trevor was only curious about the mystery of you and the veil that constantly covered your face.
warnings. fem!reader, mentions of death, dead!reader, bodily injuries, talk of insecurities, murder, hurt/comfort
word count. 2.8k || masterlist
a/n. this came out a bit angstier than intended lol but don’t worry there is comfort too! also…maybe I write a part two to this?? feel free to request for all of the ghosts; I love this show so much <3
It often felt like you were on the outside of things, peering in but rarely interacting. The ghosts that shared their purgatory with you in Woodstone had tried and still sometimes did to include you in their TV-watching nights and other ghostly shenanigans. They tried to be kind, but deep down you knew the mystery that shrouded your presence unnerved them. You were the one death none of the already established ghosts had witnessed nor had they seen it coming. One day you simply were one of them, hidden behind a veil and forever stuck in your wedding dress that was ruined with deep crimson smudges.
Only Hetty, Thorfinn, and Sasappis had seen you hours before you met your fate on your wedding day. They saw your features illuminated with a blissful wedding glow. The next thing they knew, chaos had erupted throughout the mansion and you, bloodied and veiled, could see them. What had happened, they only caught pieces from wedding guests as they fled the mansion without any kind of celebration. A groom who flew off the handle and a poor almost-wife caught in the crossfire.
The three of them held more sympathy and kept the secret of your death, what little details they knew. But they had established their own friendships amongst each other and the new ghosts that later joined their strange collection. You could never find it in yourself to truly be a part of their tightly-knit circle. You floated about the house, not quite as estranged as the basement ghosts, but with an uneasy air of mystery that made it difficult for the core group of ghosts to befriend you genuinely. They were never unkind to you, but your presence seemed to unnerve them, sometimes. All you were was a sheet of off-white, faceless, and gory bride.
Your husband, the man you once swore had loved you more than life itself, had covered your face with your veil after he killed you. For a while, you wanted to believe the gesture was one of love but the more you sat in it, you knew it was one of self-preservation. He didn’t want to look at what he did to you, and you thought why would anyone else? You hadn’t even seen what you looked like, but you could feel the deep grooves of your injuries across your face. When you brushed your fingers along your cheeks and down across your chin, you were back at what was supposed to be your wedding night, lying on the ground as the man you once loved saw nothing but red. When he was done ruining the delicate skin along your face with something sharp you hadn’t even seen coming, he placed your veil back down where it had remained since.
Your blood was visible to anyone who looked at you, but your face was obstructed by the ivory, pink, and red veil. It was for the best, you believed. The ghosts and Sam already saw you as some peculiar horror movie figure that lingered in door frames and only spoke from time to time; your sudden input made them jump like they had forgotten you’d been there but you were quite hard to miss. Maybe they blocked you out, pretended they were ghosts haunted by some poor little bride in a costume people now bought in stores and wore on Halloween.
Well, that wasn’t the whole truth, necessarily. Not all of the ghosts tip-toed around you. There was one person in the mansion who seemed to be the opposite of turned off by your quiet and awfully haunting nature.
“Knock knock.”
“It’s not a courtesy knock if you’re already sticking your head inside the room, Trevor,” you said, followed by a gentle sigh.
Trevor was a stark contrast to the other ghosts, while they tried to be your friend but ended up tip-toeing too much around you, he seemed to not be put off by you in the slightest; it was odd and you weren’t sure how welcome it was. You didn’t know how to feel about his flirtatious comments or friendly attitude. Since your fiance, you didn’t have the best feelings toward men in general. You never knew what they were really thinking. One moment, they’re ready to walk down the aisle for you, and the next, they’re the reason you’re a ghost. It wasn’t like you could die again, but there were a million ways to hurt someone, even when you both were dead, which was another reason you didn’t cross the distance between you and the other ghosts.
With a shrug, he stepped fully inside your room with a smile on his lips. “Hard to be courteous as a ghost.”
“I don’t think you try too hard,” you replied, curled into your chair beside the window. You sat with your knees pulled up to your chest, the skirt of your dress spilling out along the ground. Trevor helped himself to the chair beside yours, making himself comfortable. “Is there something I can help you with?”
He shook his head. “There’s only so much of Thorfinn’s ‘cod-talk’ that I can handle. So, I figured I’d pay you a visit. You didn’t come to our morning TV time. Sam showed us another reality show called ‘Jersy Shore.’”
“I don’t think I’m the most welcome to TV time.” They invited you, sure, but deep down you knew they only did it as a formality. You often felt like you were butting in.
Trevor looked at you like you had grown another head; his brows furrowed and a little crease formed across his forehead. “What? Of course you are. You live you too, you know?” He scooted to the end of the chair that was angled toward yours and leaned forward. “And I like having you there.”
You looked at him, head tilted slightly. He couldn’t see your face nor the expression you made underneath your veil but he heard the scoff leave your lips. “You don’t have to say that, you know? You don’t have to pretend like you…” you trailed off, unsure of the right word. You don’t quite know what he was pretending to do. To like you. To see you as a friend when he hardly knew anything about you. Your presence unsettled those inside the house. The air of mystery around you wasn’t inviting but rather cold and confusing. You had made yourself that way, with the help of your fiance who had lost his mind on what was supposed to be the happiest day of your life.
“Like I what? Like you? Because I’m not pretending,” he said, his voice so matter of fact it was hard to believe he was lying, but you knew he had to be. Trevor hung around you, talked to you like a friend, but you couldn’t help but feel like it wasn’t real. How could it be?
“Stop,” you signed, hanging your head and dropping your legs back down to the ground. The taste of blood forever stuck on your tongue made you wince. “Look at me.” You weren’t something lovely anymore. And sure, the other ghosts all had something that signified their death forever stuck on them, but it was bigger than a simple appearance. You had loved someone so much and they hurt you so terribly that even in the afterlife the thought of showing your face, your wounds and blood and bridal makeup made you feel ill. Because if someone you loved had looked at you before that, someone who knew you so intimately, and still hurt you, how was anyone supposed to look at you now and feel any semblance of love or even like? What if someone looked at you again, face ruined, and decided to hurt you just as your fiance did?
“I’m trying,” Trevor said. “But it’s a little hard to see you.”
A pang, hot and deep, ricocheted through your chest as you stood up. “That’s the point.”
You weren’t sure if you wanted to cry or scream, perhaps a bit of both but you had resorted to silence considering you weren’t alone. You didn’t want to make more of a scene than you already did with your presence that felt too large and uncomfortable.
“Do you want me to get rid of them?” Sam asked, her voice laced with concern and a gentleness that was a bit lost on you. She and Jay had been cleaning out some old boxes they had found shoved into a closet. In one of them lived a couple of framed photographs of you and your fiance when you were dating. They were a little worn and so old you were surprised they held up after all that time.
You looked too happy in the photos, smiling widely in his arms. There was another taken shortly after your engagement. Your family had brought them to Woodstone to decorate with for your wedding and after the events of that night, they must’ve forgotten them. Somehow they got shoved into a box and remained inside the home ever since. A part of you felt like it was a sweet sentiment, cementing your presence inside the mansion but another part felt like it was some kind of sick joke.
“Oh, so that’s what you look like,” Flower said, peering over Sam’s shoulder. There was no malice in her voice, only the usual airiness, but it carried an unknown weight to her and everyone else.
You felt sick as you stared at the smiling face of the man you almost married. He looked happy too. The two of you together had once been a charming sight. Your families and friends always told you how good the two of you looked together like you had been put on the Earth to find one another. But you no longer looked like the person staring back at you in the photograph, and the last image you had of the man you once loved looked nothing like he did in those photos.
Tears pricked your eyes as you shook your head at Flower’s words. “No anymore.” And never again.
Back inside your room, you paced, chewing on your fingernails. Something had a tight hold on your chest, squeezing your heart was no longer beating tightly. You were so caught up in your awful, crashing waves of nasty emotions that pulled you under, that you missed someone enter your room.
“Hey,” Trevor said, softly so as to not scare you but you jumped anyway and dropped your hand quickly as your veil fell back over your mouth. “Sorry. I just wanted to make sure you were okay after that. Sam feels really bad about showing you the photos. She didn’t mean to make you upset she just-”
You cut him off with a wave of your hand. “I didn’t know they’d make me feel so awful,” you said, glad he couldn’t see the tears that trickled down your cheeks. “That’s not her fault. I…” you trailed off, falling onto the edge of your bed with your hands held tightly together in your lap.
Trevor sat beside you, leaving a space between you two. “The other dude in the photo. He was your fiance, right?” You nodded, solemnly. “And he was the one who…”
“Kill me? Yes.” The pieces werent impossible to put together. You were sure in Sam’s research about the house and the ghosts your story was among them. Maybe Hetty or Sass or Thor told the others what little they knew about your death. They had been off doing something else when you were murdered, but that wasn’t something that occurred silently. In the aftermath, the house was in chaos and your almost-husband was taken away red-handed.
“I’m sorry,” Trevor said.
“He wasn’t.” Your voice came out with a bite, but it wasn’t directed at Trevor. You bounced back and forth between sadness and anger, stewing it in decade after decade. You wanted it soothed but you feared you’d forever be the bitter bride roaming the halls of Woodstone. “He did more than just kill me that day. It was like he knew I’d become a ghost, stuck here forever in this stupid dress, and my face-” You stopped yourself, ghosting your hand against the fabric of your veil. “He ruined me. Both in life and death.”
Carefully, Trevor reached out and grasped your hand. His hand was cold, but as he squeezed yours, you felt warmer. “Don’t let him,” he said, simply as if he knew anything about how you felt. You rolled your eyes; he couldn’t see it but he sensed it in the stiffening of your shoulders and the slack of your hand in his. “He’s not here, you are. Yeah, he fucked up your life but…I don’t know, don’t you ever feel like us becoming ghosts is a weird second chance?”
“It doesn’t really feel like a second chance. It feels like I’m stuck.” Stuck in your dress, in your veil, in your wedding venue, in the sinking feeling that no matter what you do you’re doomed.
“But it can,” Trevor said, scooting closer to you. “It can feel like a second chance. No one here should be friends; no one here should know anything about each other but we do. That’s a second chance if I’ve heard of one.”
“And you don’t think it’ll end badly?” Because doesn’t everything good?
He smiled lightly. “I try not to think about how it’ll end, only how it’s goin’.”
You had once thought that way too. The inevitability of death or something coming to an end was one of the last things that used to occupy your mind. You lived in the moment, swept up in happiness and falling in love with every stranger you met. The ‘till death do we part’ promise your fiance made when he proposed had never weighed on you because you always thought you’d make it into your old age with him. Since you felt death, endings in your mind became bitter and you couldn’t help but believe they’d always be bad. Every end would be tragic in life and death.
“I don’t think I can do that anymore,” you admitted in a whisper, staring down at your intertwined hands in your lap.
“I could show you.” You could feel his eyes burning into the side of your face but you were too scared to look at him and see how genuine he was. You heard it in his voice but seeing it on his face, you were afraid you’d cave. A small piece of you, the part of your heart still intact that wanted nothing more than to be in love again, wanted to cave so badly. The loneliness of your act of pushing everyone inside the home away despite their efforts was tiresome.
You blinked back a couple more tears and sighed. “That might take a while.” You didn’t know if you even had it in you to take back what your fiance stole.
“Good thing we have eternity, then.” You heard the smile in Trevor’s voice and caved, looking over at him looking right at you. He was close, closer than you were sure he had ever been. “Do you trust me?”
The first answer that sprung forward in your head was yes, despite everything, every twisted worry that had accumulated in your body, your instinct when he asked was to say yes. He’d never done anything to make you say no. Unlike your fiance, you never had a troublesome inkling in the pit of your stomach that he’d lose his temper one day or that you got on his nerves when they were already inflamed. No, Trevor stayed with a cheeky grin, a crude joke, a compliment here and there, and an air of trustworthiness that everyone in the house felt but never said aloud.
Swallowing thickly, still tasting the blood on your tongue you answered, “Yes.”
He let go of your hand and touched the end of the veil’s fabric, holding it between his fingers. “Tell me to stop and I will,” he said, quietly. You held your breath and stayed still, not moving a muscle as he slowly started to lift the veil, giving you plenty of time to tell him to stop. It wasn’t until the fabric was fully off of your face that the fear of him turning away in disgust or horror fell over you. He was looking at, looking at what your fiance had done in his successful murder attempt. While you had no idea what you truly looked like, you knew the placement of every cut and groove. You knew it was unsightly and you couldn’t blame Trevor if he pulled the veil right back down over your head, just as your fiance had done after the deed was done.
You waited in thick anticipation, fear encroaching on the corners of your mind. But, Trevor did nothing you feared he would.
His lips pulled upwards in a smile, bright and warm, as he held onto the sides of your face. “Hi,” he said, seeing you for the first time really.
“Hello,” you replied.

Okay I love this and I want to add a couple things i have been wishing for with Pete's power.
The Paleontologist ghost is an older and has had his power longer than Pete, so he tells Pete about a trick for getting "homebound ghosts" out of their ghosts barriers, with the catch being that they can only be taken to somewhere that the "free range ghost would have taken them to in their lives". example Paleontologist ghost can take other ghosts to go see/learn about fossils (date idea for him and Issac), and Pete it turns out can take other ghosts to hotels, motels, and B&B's.
excited about this, and wanting to keep his promise to Sass, Pete goes down to the Journalist office and starts talking to Shiki. He drops his power and asks if she and maybe a couple of her friends would like to experience going on a vacation for day or two. He can bring her right back to the office at the end
Sass see's Shiki again and its possibly the first time they actually hangout, since it seems like Sass may have been to shy to ever talk to her when alive. Assuming that Shiki does not drop a bombshell that she already has a boyfriend back at the office, her and Sass try going on a date. Maybe it works, maybe it does not
Later on Albetra is listening to Petes stories about big hotels he visits and gets to one where he saw a live performer that had been hired for the guests. Alberta laminates to herself that when alive she dreamed of traveling to fancy hotels and performing,
Sass or Flower points out to her that Pete always see's other ghosts at the hotels he stays at, and since his power lets him take other ghosts to hospitality places, what is she convinced him to become like her manager and set up shows for her.
the thing is that is that in her life Alberta slept with/dated her managers to ensure that they kept promoting her (this was why she never duped Earl, even though she knew he was cheating on her with someone). So naturally she tries to convince Pete to agree to be her manager by pretending to fall in love with him.
Pete catches on that it is an act and goes off on Alberta, yelling at her that this is very unfair of her because a.) she knows that he used too have feelings for her, and spent two years telling him he needed to get over them and b.) knows how bad it hurt him when he realized Carol had only pretended to be in love with him.
Alberta apologizes and they make up. Pete then tells her he hopes that she has an act decided on because they need to leave in 10 minutes to make their flight to "Blank'. She asks him 'what?!" and he scoffs and says that "of course I would still help you have the singing career you wanted weather we're dating or not. Come on"
Then cut to Alberta singing in a "empty" lounge room to a crowd of ghosts. Afterwards they all clap and she gives a shout out to her audience, the hotel, and then one thanking Pete for setting this up. then surprises a blushing Pete by telling all the female ghosts in the room specifically that Pete is a great guy who would be a great catch.
This is the end of Pete and Alberta's romance arc. They do not get together romantically, but forum a platonic partnership to help the other accomplish what they could not alive
My Manifestations for Ghosts:
Pete does, in fact, find a roaming ghost. However, it is a man and a paleontologist and Isaac is absolutely smitten (sorry, Sass).
Those 'others' that Patience mentioned include a teenage Puritan who Stephanie falls heads-over-heels with but. Like. The guy is a Puritan and so homegirl has a lot of work to do, but ultimately they are the cutest couple.
HETTY GETS HER POWER.
Mark's son comes by again and gets a special episode hanging out with Thor, who spends a lot of time wishing he had seen his son grow up and missing when Hetty was little.
I want Sass happy, of course, but I want more of his backstory before he gets another love interest. My understanding is that the Europeans came in the 1600s with diseases and forced migration of the Lenape people. So how did Sass die? How horrible must it have been to watch so many horrible deaths happen to your tribe and family AND YET YOU ARE THE ONLY ONE WHO IS A GHOST?!
Let me see Flower's brother before he dies.
I would like to see Todd again. I just love Alberta's reactions to him every time. Also, have we unpacked the trauma of her boyfriend cheating on her with the man who ultimately killed her? AND THEN HE DATED HER SISTER?! Bc that's still crazy to me.

I could talk about Hetty and her death for hours. I could. And I have. And I will. Hetty rant under the cut if you please DFSDGSFDDS
I honestly don't even know where to begin with this. I have so much to say about Hetty to the point that I woke up at 4a.m today because I couldn't stop thinking about her.
Hetty is an absolutely magnificent character. First off- She is a Victorian Woman. Women back then wernt treated like people. They were thrown around, used and abused, before being thrown away. Hetty was forced into a marriage (with her cousin, none the less) and was forced to be the perfect high-class image her entire life.
She was probably forced into having Thomas, but even though all that, she cares about him. She killed herself to try and secure him a safe future. She thinks Thomas must hate her- resent her for what she did to herself and how she treated him- but you can tell the opposite is true. Even after Hetty is long gone, Thomas still went to her for advice. He asked her if he should marry a lady he was seeing, and he didn't know, but Hetty was there and she cared.
Hetty had all these windows put up around her for all her life. Windows specifically because you can see her, but you can't touch. You can admire, but you can't love. You can see the display version of her that was put out to see, but you never get to see the Real Henrietta Woodstone.
Until Hetty died, and met the Ghosts. Slowly, one by one, they broke down these windows and Hetty was finally able to become herself. She allowed herself to enjoy the afterlife- to indulge in everyday things like TV, smelling foods, sex, jokes and laughing, and so much more that she wasn't ever allowed to do when she was alive.
She allowed herself to love and to be loved.
She made connections with the ghosts, she had a best friend, she had arguments and betrayals, she allowed herself to feel real love for Trevor. She did this all because she knew she had nothing to fear, that no one would be able to come back and hurt her.
But then Elias came back. Actually, it turns out he had been there the entire time. Waiting and listening the entire time, underneath the very house that Hetty was haunting. Though all the years she felt safe and at home, her terrible husband was there waiting the entire time.
They were able to get rid of him, but I can only imagine how terrified Hetty must've still felt. All this time that she felt safe, he was there.
But still, she allowed herself to live, even after this. To change and grow, even though she is a hundred and fifty years old. We have watched her experience new things, we have seen her get a chance to live again through the Arondakers and their BnB.
Then, Flower got sucked off. Or so they thought, anyways. The house wasn't the same without her, whether they liked it or not- they were incomplete. Until they found out Flower had been down a well this whole time.
Desperate to get Flower out and back to the group, Hetty revealed her deepest darkest secret. Her death- suicide. She killed herself to try and save family, but then she finally let the secret of her death out to do the same thing. She saved family.
No one knew, either. Pete knew they had a telephone, Hetty even talked to him about it. When Hetty told him about her phone, all along, she had those cords tight on her neck underneath that dress. And no one knew.
Her and Trevor were having sex for MONTHS, and they probably will again someday soon. But still, he had no idea. Not once did he see those marks or that cord, not once did he ever ask any questions.
I imagine that Hetty was glad. Glad that her shameful secret could hide safe under her collar. But I think she was also hurt. Hurt that a man she has spent countless hours with doesn't realize that there is a secret under there. She works hard to hide it- the fake story made up about her Morphine induced death, so Trevor would truthfully no reason to question it- but Hetty is only human.
She feels real sorrow and real pain, but she still hides some of it. When she pulled down that collar, you can see that she is looking at Isaac. Isaac watched her grow up and pass him in age, Isaac knew her from when she was just born, Isaac is her best friend.
She looks away and looks at the ground, you can see the fear in her face. Fear that no one will treat her thr same anymore, fear that all she will be shown is pitty and apprehension. But that's not what happens. They don't pitty her, but they try to help her. She is their friend, and they don't care how she died a hundred years ago, all they care about is who she is now and if she is okay.
