How To Change Your Life
Mindset To Change Your Life?
"Rainbow Mountain" ... unbelievable colors ... stick with me here as I'm getting to how this translates into self-help, your future self, and what you can do today to start changing your life!
It's amazing what's out there if we get out and explore. No, we don't always have the time, but let's face it, even when we do, we don't often prioritize making the time for what we really want to do!
Today's technology gives us a glimpse into the entire world. Literally!
We never had the luxury of getting this glimpse until the computer in our pocket rolled us forward and connected us at a whole nother level. Don't underestimate the power it gives us to positively change our lives and that of others!
This insight not only comes in the form of pictures, but it comes in the form of giving us direct access to mentors we can learn from - motivated people who have traveled the road, endured countless failures (embracing the failures knowing they were learning from them), and persevered to get to the top of their mountain.
The Power Of One More
Ed MyLett is one of those mentors - he has a great podcast and his new book is awesome (we bought 4 copies to share with family and friends).
The Law Of Attraction
In it's loosest sense, we get what we focus on. That's a universal law. Goals are achieved by doing. Doing gets done when we resolve ourselves to making a change and putting in the work.
Unfortunately, the "work" and "sticking with it" parts (just showing up consistently and on a regular basis) get overlooked even though these two building blocks are a must if you want to have any chance to grow. In concept, it's so easy to do both but, in reality, it's what most people struggle with.
So, if you work on fixing these two simple things, do you think that will start changing your life? Trust me, it will! Don't take my word for it, just get on doing it!
How To Go About Consistently Putting In The Work?
Due to the nature of having to put in the work and knowing your success depends upon it, you must stack victories! And, since so many people (you know who you are - it's okay, it's human nature!) are looking for a "quick fix", victories are easier to come by when you break down your goal into mini steps.
By doing this, you get quickly rewarded for the work you're putting in.
As an example, you may want to run a marathon, but start by getting off the couch and running around your block first. That's all it needs to be!
Doing this is a change in behavior (a positive one!). That's a victory right? Yes! It was quick to do, right? Yes. And, when you do it again tomorrow, you're new building your new habit through consistency. The accomplishing your goal has begun!
When you've got this down, look towards making two laps around your neighborhood. If you're not up for running two laps. Break it down to an extra half lap. If that's too much, go an extra 100 steps. If that's too much, take one extra step, but take that one extra step. Don't minimize the importance of this!
These mini wins, on a regular basis, give you that feeling of accomplishment. It becomes the guide, your blueprint, for getting you to where you want to go.
This works for everything. All you have to do is get started and that choice (yes, it's a choice!) is on you!
Get On Getting On!
For this morning, if you're staring at this photo of Rainbow Mountain, enjoy and let this be your first step towards getting there. Visualize it and then start figuring out what steps you are going to take to get you there.
If Rainbow Mountain isn't your thing (as success is what you deem it to be and can only be found in things that truly fulfill you!), then find your thing and focus on that. Keep it in your mind and put reminders everywhere so you are constantly reminded (there's that trait again!) in your travels throughout the day of what you're working towards.
If you're not getting to where you want to go, take the first step in changing your old habits (the one's currently failing you) and begin creating new ones. By doing so, you're creating your new life. Again, this is well within you.
We have Winter before Spring. Spring before Summer. Summer before Fall. Fall before Winter. And the cycle repeats. The flushing out of the old and the ushering in of the new!
The cells in our body do the same thing. They are continually regenerating (throwing out the bad and starting fresh with the new). Again, you've got this in you, don't fight the laws of nature. Embrace them and get on living the life you want, not the one you're probably in now if you've actually taken the time to read this!
You're never stuck unless you refuse to put in the work and don't want to be consistent about changing. Turning your dreams into reality starts with that first step (which you've taken today).
Compounding work and consistently doing it is where the real magic happens!
