We've agreed that we're mixed origin! As a reflex, I would call us endogenic, although reconsidering, not all of us comfortably fit under that term.

2. How many of you are there?

Six, including me and the host. Although I suspect we have more members that we can't communicate with.

3. How long have you known about your plurality?

Loaded question! Roughly, I was created on and off during 2018, but the host focused on creating me late 2019 to early 2020. From then we found/gained more members. However, one of our members say he has been around for years before that.

4. What kind of spaces/communities do you/did you hang out in?

Yes! Someone who is close with the host has DID and told him before he created me. However, when he found out about tulpas he didn't connect them in the slightest.

6. Do you have a wonderland? If so, what do you call it, and what are some things that you and your system members do there?

We do! Right now its just "the headspace" and for the most part its works as a place to hang out, help with meditation, visualisation, and some other things. Some like swimming there, going off and doing their own thing, and playing. I do pretty much everything in there, especially cooking and gardening.

Usually by their name! Jokes aside, usually just headmates, as the brain is dyslexic and gets alters/altars confused. If I'm not comfortable revealing their identity, I might give them titles such as syskid or nicknames like C.

8. If you're plural but don't use the word "system" to describe you&, what word do you use?

For the most part we use system, but considered changing to 'Constellation' since it's a cute, aesthetic name. This however gets difficult since system is a universal (;)) term, and the habit never stuck.

9. What are some of the best things about being plural?

It's an unique experience! Obviously, for me, I wouldn't exist, but I also believe it's an effective coping mechanism for us, exercises the brains ability to process things, and helps when we can't access therapy.

10. What are some of the not-so-great things about being plural?

Due to plurality being so personalised, sometimes things just start happening without a conceivable answer (which can be stressful since our brain is autistic and wants a solid answer,) which is about 40% of the issues. The other 40% is syscourse, worried about faking, etc. 20% probably falls under small things that are easy to fix.

11. Do you have a spiritual or psychological view of your plurality?

Mixed! While the host and most other headmates (the ones who care, that is,) have a psychological view, I see it as both. I personally believe that I was brought here to help the host and that I am from a place beyond his mind, however also understand his mind has a hand in forming into how he perceives me.

12. Do you ever experience switching? If so, what do you call it, how difficult is it, and what is it like? Were you always able to do this, or did you have to learn how over time?

We call it switching or fronting since possession has negative connotations. Some of us can switch at the drop of a hat, some have triggers, some can't, and some (me) struggle switching. Switching doesn't come easy with me and mostly comes when the host is drunk. However, we have done some training which has been improving our ability! I can now control the hands/arms with prior meditation.

13. How do you and your system mates relate to each other?

Depends on the headmate! For our syskid I'm a parent/guardian, our protector I'm a friend (or annoyance- either way of platonically love them ^^), for the host I'm a source of comfort and close friend. We don't see each other as family for the most part, but generally get along.

Quality of Life Wishlist for DA4

This will be a very long one but I have some Thoughts about little tiny things that I think are missing from Origins, DA2 and Inquisition that I hope Bioware thinks about when making DA4.

Make banter guaranteed to activate every 15 minutes or so, regardless of where you are, unless you are in combat or a conversation with an NPC.

Make armor look different depending on race/origin. My Dalish elf shouldn’t be forced to wear shoes just because the other three races would. Same goes for stronghold/home outfits/pyjamas - why you have to download a mod to let your elf wear the elf NPC clothes in Skyhold I’ll never know. They’re literally already in the game.

Let the MC respond to companion banter more, even if it’s the way Hawke does in DA2 where a dialog wheel doesn’t show, they just make a small comment.

Make it easier to increase inventory size, similar to buying backpacks in the first 2 games. Having to spend Inquisition perks to increase inventory size bugs me.

Better hair options! Even if all the “long” hair options have to be updos to minimize clipping, there is no reason to have fifteen different variations of “bald/shaved” and only one “long hair that’s been put into a braided bun” option. Give me LONG ponytails. Side braids down the front. Pig tails. Elaborate braided buns. Long hair that’s been pulled back from the face. Space buns. Anything.

Tintable weapons. Bothered me to no end when I would make a dragonbone weapon in Inquisition and it had to be that weird orange gold colour.

Let me swim but please do not make me fight anyone underwater. Every single time it happens in a game, any game, I want to vomit.

Make companions actually utilize the jump function. I don’t know how difficult this would be to program but I got real sick of companions getting stuck behind fences because they didn’t realize they could jump.

Let me make my own notes on the map. An example: adding a pin that says “saw a dragon here. come back later when higher level”. The original Neverwinter Nights game did this and I loved it.

Way to do some war table functions without having to return to a stronghold, similar to how the Descent DLC did. For example, I should be able to do every war table mission from Skyhold, but if a war table mission takes place around the Hinterlands I should be able to order it to be done from a table in Redcliffe.

A different quiver. Please. Even if it works the way it does in Skyrim where it matches the bow. I am So Bored of the same quiver that matches none of my armor.

Companions have their own personalised mounts that they summon when you get on yours, so they can ride with you and they can still banter. World of Warcraft does this with companions on the Broken Isles in the Legion expansion and I appreciate it. Imagine Blackwall having a black horse with Grey Warden insignia on the saddle. Vivienne’s horse being a beautiful white stallion with an elaborately braided mane.

Expanded tactics, similar to the first two games. I miss being able to tell Alistair “hey if someone attacks Barkspawn please immediately taunt them”.

Please consult someone who actually wears makeup on what shadow, liner and blush are meant to look like.

Let me save a preset in the character creator so if I want to replay my main I don’t have to take a million screenshots of my sliders then try my best to recreate them from an image. I should not have to install mods to do this.

Don’t make me travel to Kirkwall to change my hair. In both DA2 and Inquisition your character has a bedroom, why can they not just have a little mirror on top of their dresser to change hair and makeup? Fair enough if you want to change facial features, tattoos and scars, but hair and makeup? Come on.

Better eyebrows and lashes.

Please include ALL tattoo options from Origins, DA2 and Inquisition, ESPECIALLY if we’re bringing back the Warden, Hawke or the Inquisitor for any reason.

More diverse body types, even if it’s similar to the way Bioware does it in SWTOR (you have petite, “average”, curvy and buff options - it’s not a lot, but it’s better than what we have). I really like the system that Guild Wars 2 has where you can pick a base body type from 10-15 options and also edit your height, but I know that might make things difficult to program for cutscenes.

Can I have some healing spells back? Even if it’s just one or two? Don’t love how if I’m out of potions in Inquisition all Solas can do is be like “here. have a barrier. hope you don’t die because my resurrect is on cooldown lol”

Find a balance between Inquisition’s “you only have 8 spells slots” and Origins and DA2′s “your action bar covers the whole bottom of your screen”. Maybe 12 spell slots?

If we must have a “squad goes to a party” level, please make the outfits pretty and race/origin appropriate and Do Not give everyone the same outfit. Better yet, upon entering the level, bring up a temporary character creator that’s like “here are a couple of outfit options, also do you want to change your hair and makeup for this mission specifically?”

Body scars and body tattoos, especially for Dalish elves. Let my vallaslin go down to my titties.

A more customisable HUD/UI. Let me make my quest tracker smaller! My action bars smaller! My companion portraits SMALLER! They take up so much space!

I really hope they bring back the companion armor system from Inquisition. I love how the basic armors look different depending on which companion you put them on and I hope they keep that in DA4.

Let me choose whether hats are visible for specific companions. I don’t want everyone wearing their helmets but Cole’s hat, Vivienne’s headpiece, the flower crown, the Qunari face paint and the mage hoods are Important and I like them and want to see them.

Capes? Can I have some capes? I’d like a cape.

Over the years the town has grown to what it is today with traditional restaurants, bustling bars, fashionable boutiques, gift shops and a thriving tourist trade in both summer and winter.  We found an amazing little shop where Lily-Belle was able to personalise the gifts she was purchasing for Nana and Granda.  Cavalese is also very well-known for its local craftsmanship (iron, wood and marble) and a very social cheese factory.  Who knew cheese was social?  Does this social cheese have a Facebook page?

SELF CATERING APARTMENTS

The main reasons for choosing Aparthotel Des Alpes was the price and the locality to Alpe Cermis which was just a 5 minute drive away.  Plus Aparthotel Des Alpes ticked several other boxes.  Close to Alpe Cermis for skiing, a short distance to Cavalese Town for shopping and sightseeing, indoor swimming pool for relaxing in at the end of a ski day, fantastic views of the surrounding Dolomites and a really modern fresh looking room.  Aparthotel Des Alpes houses 200 apartments ranging from studios to 2 bedroom apartments, all recently refurbished.  For our stay we booked a Superior Studio Apartment.

ARRIVAL AND RECEPTION

Check in at Aparthotel Des Alpes is from 16:00 to 20:00.  Upon arrival we were warmly greeted at the reception by Cinzia.  Cinzia was extremely helpful in telling us all about the hotel facilities, what the local area had to offer, including supermarkets for groceries, restaurants for dining and of course, the best gelateria’s for ice cream…a must for our girls when we are in Italy.  One thing to note is that the local supermarkets close very early in the evening, it was a little after 19:00 and they were already closed.  Thankfully Cinzia was able to take an order for fresh croissants to be collected from the restaurant the next morning.

THE ROOM

Credit where credit is due, Mummy definitely excelled on the room front this time.  The Superior Studio at Aparthotel Des Alpes was spacious and modern with storage space galore.  A must if you saw how much Lynne had managed to pack!  The apartment was split into 4 areas; bedroom one with bunk beds, main lounge area/2nd bedroom with a dining table and chairs, spacious bathroom and a small equipped kitchenette.  Outside there was a balcony for watching morning sunrises and evening sunsets.  Lily-Belle and Matilda immediately fought over who was sleeping on the top bunk.  A bit of a no-brainer for Mummy and Daddy, but try telling 3 year old Matilda the dangers of falling out of a bunk bed and see where it gets you! 

BEDS, BATHROOMS AND BIDET’S

Open the apartment door, and you walk immediately into the hall/bunk beds.  Directly opposite the bunk beds was the bathroom; a large walk-in shower, toilet, wash basin with under-storage, bidet, mirror but unfortunately no bath.  Daddy loves soaking in the bath, bubbles overflowing.  A very decent sized bathroom indeed.  We’re not ‘posh’ and this was the girls very first experience of a bidet, much to their amusement and ours!

LOVING THE LOUNGE

There was a small kitchenette with a hob (no oven), microwave, kettle, cutlery, plates, cups (plus other kitchen items), perfectly adequate.  In the main lounge area, which also served as the second bedroom, there was a huge pull down bed that could have (and did on 2 occasions) accommodate all 4 of us.  Plenty of wardrobe space beside the bed.  Inside the wardrobe there was a safe for keeping your valuables, well…safe.  The lounge also had a dining table and chairs, with a flat screen TV on the wall.  The room summed up in a word…perfect!

SUPERIOR IT DEFINITELY IS

One thing we loved about the Superior Studio at Aparthotel Des Alpes was the dividing door between the bunk beds and the main lounge-come-bedroom.  The divide allowed Mummy and Daddy to sit and enjoy a glass of wine in the evenings without disturbing the girls when they were in bed.  The apartments have all the equipment required for having an excellent self catering holiday.  Superior…it certainly was.

SWIMMING POOL

The pool, just like many others, had a deep end and a shallow end with the addition of a shallow children’s splash pool at one end.  Around the poolside a few loungers for those simply wishing to sit and relax.  As is the standard in most European swimming pools, a swim hat must be worn.  Having a head like a billiard ball, Daddy did manage to negotiate not wearing one!  The pool is ample for a few lengths, or in our case, a splash about with the girls. The kiddies pool was perfect for Matilda to enjoy.

JACUZZI

The Jacuzzi was by far the biggest we had ever seen and even better that there wasn’t the typical ‘No Children Allowed’ sign, so were all able to enjoy the bubbles.  Definitely a bonus to be able to soak aching muscles after skiing….and that was just Lily-Belle and Matilda.  Has someone been eating beans, there’s an awful lot of bubbles!  We are normally ‘all systems go’ throughout our holidays and this one was no different, especially with so many things to see and do within our short period of one week, so the pool and jacuzzi were very welcome.

SPA

Beside the pool is a stylish modern spa which offers adults the chance to unwind child free.  Seriously luxurious and free tea, great if you’re a tea drinker but I (Daddy) much prefer coffee.  The spa has outstanding facilities; Finnish saunas, Turkish steam room, sinks full of ice for cooling off, showers and a large relaxation area with loungers.  Do expect full frontal nudity if you visit the Spa.

PLAY ROOM

There is a very colourful Play Room at Aparthotel Des Alpes.  Although we didn’t avail of this facility we did pop our head through the door.  From what we saw the large play room is aimed at younger children and toddlers.

WI-FI

Very important.  On holiday we take lots of photos and videos.  Rather than clog phones and cameras we tend to upload everything to the cloud each evening.  Wi-Fi is free in the main reception area, and also free if you book your stay at Aparthotel Des Alpes direct with Trentino Residencies.  Otherwise Wi-Fi costs €15.00 per week for a password (available at the reception).  We use Sky Go to watch movies when we travel and not once did we experience any poor signal or dropouts in our apartment.  Excellent Wi-Fi which we utilised to the full during our stay at Aparthotel Des Alpes.  Just a note to say that reception is open from 08:00 – 22:00 (close for lunch).

RESTAURANT

Right next door to Aparthotel Des Alpes is Restaurant Des Alpes.  Although the restaurant isn’t very modern with its decor or styling, it was clean and the food was always exceptional.  One evening Lily-Belle and Matilda ordered a pizza and they were ecstatic when the pizza arrived at the table in the shape of a bunny.  The menu is typical of Italy; pasta, pizzas, select meat dishes and my favourite Italian dish, risotto.  We ate in the restaurant on a few occasions and always had a wonderful meal, plus the odd glass (or two) of Aperol Spritz.  On the odd occasion we also took advantage of the available take away service.  Fresh croissants and breakfast can be ordered from reception the night before.

SKI STORAGE

There is ski storage available at Aparthotel Des Alpes but no drying facility for boots and clothes, best to take these to your room.  We didn’t need to use the ski storage at Aparthotel Des Alpes as we hired the girls skis, boots and helmets from Sport Cermis at Alpe Cermis.  Thankfully we could leave the hired equipment at Sports Cermis each evening, then collect them again the following morning.  Very handy!

SKI SHUTTLE BUS

There is a free Ski Shuttle Bus to the regions main ski resorts such as Obereggen and Latemar.  Pick up-drop off is directly outside Aparthotel Des Alpes.  For our Alpe Cermis holiday we hired a car therefore we didn’t use the bus.

LOVELY CINZIA

We have to give a special mention to our new friend Cinzia.  Cinzia worked on the reception at Aparthotel Des Alpes and was always polite, courteous and smiling.  Always at reception with a warm smile when we left each morning and the same friendly smile when we returned each day.  Chatting with this lovely young lady we found out that Cavalese doesn’t get many visitors from the UK and Ireland.  Cinzia was interested to hear all about us, where we were from and all about our travels.  Equally we loved chatting with Cinzia each day and we were keen to find out more about her and life in this region of Italy.  Lily-Belle and Matilda enjoyed picking up a few Italian phrases from Cinzia each day.  Cinzia was a wealth of information and we were truly thankful to her for making our stay very memorable.

WOULD WE GO BACK

Without hesitation.  Aparthotel Des Alpes is a fantastic hotel with self-contained apartments.  Perfect as a base camp for exploring the Italian Dolomites, and in particular, Alp Cermis, which is right on the doorstep.  The local town of Cavalese is not too far away and is a lovely town for exploring and looking at the local heritage. Aparthotel Des Alpes gets our seal of approval.

LILY-BELLE (age 9) SAYS I loved that I was allowed to go in the jacuzzi.  Our room was really comfy and I enjoyed sitting out on the balcony.  Do people really wash there bums in the bidet…eurgh, that’s gross!

MATILDA (age 3) SAYS Mummy wouldn’t let me sleep on the top bunk, she’s so mean, it’s not fair!  I liked going into the swimming pool and the bubble bath.  Daddy: the bubble bath is the jacuzzi.

Days 26 and 27

Day 26 – cowboys and country music

Most of the day was spent in a similar manner as before, pool, beach, hot tub, swim-up bar. We had lunch at the Mariner with our toes in the sand. S had a chicken quesadilla and more coleslaw. J had a chilli dog and a Cobb salad. Mel had the steak salad and JT got the campfire dog. Food was fine. Mel and JT headed off for a couples’ massage and we went to lounge on a floating disc anchored 20 metres off shore. The disc partially submerges so you are in the water when you lie on it. At first it was a bit chilly as the sun was behind a cloud, but as soon as the sun came out, it was pretty pleasant. It also helped that the pool bar started playing some glam rock favourites, including Paradise City by Guns N’ Roses. However, the glam rock was short lived. Someone took over the playlist and it all turned country. Half the pool area started dancing. This is clearly not a glam rock crowd.

We then left to get ready for the sunset catamaran cruise. It was pleasant, but unfortunately it rained a bit, so everyone crowded into the main cabin for some dancing. There was a disco strobe light that bothered S’ eyes so he sat this one out. We learned JT is a big admirer of the ‘thong song’ (so is J). There was no pole dancing by the male staff unlike on Cool Runnings in Barbados. Fortunately the rain stopped before we docked. We headed off to the sushi joint for dinner.

The sushi was once again very good. Unfortunately, something was off with the sake. They were apparently running out of sake and decided to water it down rather than tell us it had finished. Being an investigator, J immediately got to the bottom of this and we were promised a bottle of sake on our next visit, once the store had been replenished. However, J was offended that the staff thought we would not notice. She assured the lead waiter that she was a very experienced sake drinker.

We happened to be seated next to the couple who received the 260-night Sandals award on Tuesday, Sheila and Neil. Like so many others, they are from London (Marylebone). They have been coming to Sandals St Lucia since 1994. After dinner, Mel and JT went to bed and we headed back to the lobby bar for a final final.

We arrived to hear the song Friends in Low Places by Garth Brooks, which was sung by a St Lucian country singer in a cowboy hat. He was very good and J got up and danced with our new friend Sheila, who was also listening. We noticed a number of patrons had come prepared with their own cowboy hats. Country music night was clearly not a surprise.

After the country music singing ended, we went to the English pub for another final final and ran into a proper cowboy from Arkansas, complete with cowboy hat. We also met our first Biden voter. Things turned a little bit dicey. This time it wasn’t S who offended someone – it was the cowboy. We couldn’t hear everything he said, but the word “abortion” came up. It’s not usually a good idea to get into an abortion debate at 11pm at night at a bar. The Biden voter eventually fled the scene. One difference you will find between the British and the Americans is abortion is not really a topic of discussion among the British. We then called it a night.

Day 27 -  déjà vu all over again

Our mornings have become rather routine. Pool, beach and back to the beachfront restaurant for lunch. The water in this beach is quite calm and the water is generally a light turquoise. The water here is not quite as clear as the water at the Perfect Beach or at Jack’s so S accidentally stepped on something spiney. The service at the beach is less frequent but J now loves the floating discs. We rate it an 8.5.

We then went for Christmas drinks at the beach. The special drink was a non-alcoholic eggnog. We’re not sure why they bothered as everyone was adding rum to it. They gave you marshmallows to roast, however it was a windy day with a huge bonfire, so if you tried to hold your marshmallow over the fire, you were going to end up roasting more than just the marshmallow.

We saw our friends Neil and Sheila again. We suspect Neil goes completely feral on his Sandals holidays. He showed up with no shoes, shorts and a cut-off shirt and they still treated him like a VIP. If he dressed like that in Marylebone, he might be mistaken for a rough sleeper. Neil is the definition of a relaxed Sandals holidayer and a fun guy. We then went off for a candle lit dinner. Rather than being in one of the restaurants or on the beach, on Neil’s suggestion, JT asked for the dinner to be set up at a gazebo at the end of a pier over the water. This was a wise choice as there was a brief rain shower during our dinner. We were also able to feed the white fish with some of the leftover dinner bread and salad croutons. It was quite fun to watch them converge and jump out of the water to pounce on the bread. Dinner was a four-course meal with surf and turf as the main. In reality, we were coaxed into this by JT, who was receiving the meal for free because they booked their stay on Black Friday. We, however, paid $200 for the privilege of the meal, when all of the food and drinks are normally included for free. In essence, it was basically a $200-table seating with a personalised menu and a rose for Mel and J. Not sure it was S’ wisest investment, but we had fun. JT was finally able to start playing music on his phone and introduced us to a few more country songs, including Toes.

After dinner, we then went back to the lobby bar to see what entertainment was on. It was a Broadway musical medley. We saw many of the same performers who entertained us during the water show a few days ago. We finished the night with a nightcap in the pub and saw some of the other regulars that we see nearly every day, usually at one of the various bars.
