This is one of the things I'm really sick of from Democrats, this way they have of saying "HOW CAN YOU SAY THIS PERSON IS BAD? LOOK AT THIS PIC OF THEM PETTING A DOGGO!"

They did this shit with Obama, like "Aww look at this Pic of him smiling with his family!" while the dude's drone program was wiping out 99 civilians for every 1 actual legitimate terrorist target in Rural Pakistan and Afghanistan. While his administration ran guns to Mexican Drug Cartels. After he'd had two US Citizens executed via drone without due process or judicial oversight. After he signed Habeas Corpus out of existence. Listen, staning politicians is bad. We must remain critical of people in power.

Gula was a 13-year-old kid at the time and not compensated for it - although in 2002 Nat Geo did find her as an adult and pay for her family’s pilgrimage to Mecca but whatever. She can't really be meaningfully said to have consented to the sudden photography of her in her school, and was described as showing "a young person afraid of the war she was fleeing" but what's actually shown is a young person afraid of the stranger / man she was suddenly and unexpectedly alone with pointing a camera at her.

but actually I am a dweeb because I discovered there’s a Noble Collection retail store in London and dropped everything I was doing (I think at that point in time I was looking for a bakery, so, no biggie). and in there when I chatted with the guys (mainly to ask: “all I see is H*rry P*tter here and fuck that where are the swords”) I mentioned that I had wanted to buy Sting from them but by the time they had money they weren’t selling the LotR version anymore, only the Hobbit version, which is less cool.

they were like “oh yeah for sure it is not as good we only have the miniatures” but also didn’t know what the new engraving said? so there I am admitting “I read the books every year but this is something Weta added, that Bilbo went home and had it engraved with ‘Sting is my name; I am the spider’s bane’ and it’s a movie detail but I like it so I ordered it from a guy who makes swords in Pakistan” and the guy very kindly was like “oh that’s cool I’ll have to remember that” as if I’m not the worst person who’s ever walked in that store.

#FaveOutfitFriday--All Time Kate Faves

One of the things I love about Kate’s fashion is that she thinks long and hard about her choices and tries to tailor the outfits to the events. Sometimes it doesn’t quite come out right (leopard skirt, jeggings), but I feel there's always a method to the madness.

So my favorite outfits aren’t necessarily her showstoppers. However, they are all (except for the last one!) outfits where she simply nailed the event perfectly, and the clothes are meaningful as well as beautiful. 

1. Chanel Tweed in Paris. 

The cost of this outfit made my jaw drop, but it was a masterpiece of diplomatic dressing. Gorgeous, professional-looking tweed from a classic French brand with perfect accessories that gave it a British twist. This was a tough pick, I’m sure, because she had meetings with terrorism survivors and kids on the same day, and the suit was perfect for both.  It was sober enough for the terror attack event and friendly enough for children. This was a hard day to dress for and this outfit nailed everything perfectly. She also looked absolutely gorgeous. I’m also giving the outfit bonus points because the shoes were a re-wear.

2. White McQueen Suit in Poland

I can’t say enough good things about this look. This was, imo, a showstopper arrival and probably the Cambridges’ #1 tour arrival of all time (yes, it beats Pakistan. Sorry, ombre dress fans). The British suit was lovely, the hair was bouncy yet professional, and the accessories freaking matched Charlotte’s dress. The whole thing also matched the colors of the Polish flag.

 I particularly love the fact that Kate chose a neutral color that made Charlotte the center of attention. The outfits screamed “Look at my little girl, isn’t she gorgeous.” This was an epic “proud mom” moment, and it made the European tour feel very personal, like a neighborly visit more than a diplomatic tour. I noticed these little touches during the “cozy like a family visit” Irish tour, and now I’m starting to see them in the other tours. It also resulted in amazing magazine and newspaper covers.

3. Maternity Glam in Sweden

I don’t think I have to explain this. Absolute show-stopper dress. Perfect hair and accessories. Absolutely suited to the occasion and the location.

4. Burberry in Belfast

I know I’m going to get pushback on this one because it’s just a beige coat, but I am looking at context here. This was Kate’s big moment after her engagement. Her image up to this point was that of London party girl in Issa dresses and jeans and no one had any big fashion expectations from her. This coat was a huge moment for her because it was the first “big” label she had worn. This coat said, “I’m a contender” and “I’m a force to be reckoned with.” It was also a British brand, a perfect style for Belfast, and had tons of trademark buttons.  This will forever be one of my favorite Kate pics simply because of the mischievous “Yass, I came to slay, bitches” smile. She knew she nailed it.

5. Green McQueen for #MeToo Baftas

This was a crazy hard event because of the all-black dress code. To wear black would be to make an inappropriate political statement, and to not wear black would be to throw abuse victims under the bus. Kate finessed it perfectly with a dark green gown and a black ribbon AND she also managed to look gorgeous and glamorous.

Women Empowerment👑

Hi dear readers. I am beyond thrilled to write about this week’s blog post.

Yes, you saw it right and I dedicate this entry specially to all amazing women out there regardless of who you are, where you come from or what you’ve become.

In earlier centuries, women had suffered a lot and were treated as non-existent. The patriarchal society suppressed women’s freedom across the world. Women were not allowed to voice out their opinions and being denied from receiving education as they were only confined to their homes. Can you imagine that unjust treatment women had to go through at that time? That is utterly insane! Fortunately as time progressed, women understood their power and capabilities of deciding for themselves. They realised that their lives meant much more than just managing the household. Since then, the revolution for women empowerment started in this world even though it does not begin on an exact date. It is still a growing process plus we can witness more and more women come together and make their voices heard. Consequently, it is now evident that women have more prominent positions in the society.

One of the international icons for women empowerment that captured the attention of many is Malala Yousafzai. She is well known for her efforts to defend equal access to education and gender equality. Though many people remember her as the girl who was shot by the Taliban for her activism in fighting for women’s education in Pakistan, she actually had a long history of activism before the attack. At the time she was shot, she was only 15 and it had left her in a critical condition. She survived a bullet that shattered her skull’s thinnest bone, driving fragments into her brain. After weeks of treatment and therapy, she recovered. Such a strong woman she is! Upon recovery, she was able to begin attending school and has continued her fight for girls’ education globally, leading her to receive the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014 and thus becoming the youngest person to receive this prize. She has recently graduated from Oxford University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics.

According to an article from BBC, her passion for educational equity began with her father who is also an ardent social activist and a teacher. Malala’s father too put himself at risk through his activism and was also threatened by the Taliban. Although this has caused Malala extreme anxiety nevertheless she never loses hope and yet continued her activism journey.

It feels so terrifying after reading her story, am I right? I couldn’t possibly imagine myself in her shoes. She had endured a lot since a young age. She has proved that women are capable and unbreakable. Unquestionably, she will continue to use her voice and education to support women and girls around the world. A wonderful notion indeed that all women should adopt.
