Canmore, AB
Canmore, AB has some really nice trails and there is also the 28km trail from Canmore to Banff. We went with the intention of taking the bus to Banff and riding back to Canmore but the smoke was pretty bad when we went so we just road around Canmore. Riding around on scooters is a good way to see things we would normally miss. We made the best of it and still had a blast.

It's so frustrating to me that people see electric automobiles as a green technology. They are anything but.
#Sure lets encourage people to buy more single-person vehicles#with extra heavy bases#requiring extra concrete on the existing roads to deal with the added load#with extremely flammable and toxic batteries (that you really shouldn't be parking in any kind of underground parking)#demanding double or triple the electric power delivery to your home than you needed before you bought the vehicle#requiring your electric utility to tear up your roads to install bigger cables#sure#that's going to be *good* for the environment

I simply think we should just outlaw gasoline-powered landscaping tools
#electric ones exist and they're much quieter#not to mention gasoline lawnmowers and chainsaws and such don't have things like catalytic converters and mufflers#like cars do. they actually pollute more than vehicles do#probably not on average due to the sheer number of cars that exist vs lawnmowers#but as far as per gallon of gasoline fuel-powered tools pollute more#also i personally hate them

Rail Bridge Trail Behind Heritage Heights
We ventured out a few weeks ago and road the gravel trail behind Heritage Heights up to the rail bridge. It is a fun trail, even on an e-scooter, with waves and bumps. We love the beautiful views.

The Playa Crawler: A Kinetic Walking Chair for Burning Man
In 2017, engineer Mark Ellis designed an innovative kinetic chair called The Playa Crawler to navigate the vast expanse of Burning Man. Inspired by the Strandbeest sculptures of Dutch artist Theo Jansen, this unique chair is specifically crafted to withstand the alkaline terrain of the Black Rock Desert.
Mark Ellis wanted a personal vehicle that was both functional and original for getting around Burning Man. This led him to create a chair that walks using a system of articulated legs. This mechanism, invented by Theo Jansen, allows the chair to move similarly to Jansen's giant sculptures, which are propelled by the wind along the beaches.
Built from laser-cut aluminum and steel, The Playa Crawler is equipped with two electric wheelchair motors, batteries, and is controlled via a wheelchair joystick.

A 28-year-old motorcyclist died in Washington State on Friday afternoon because a dipshit Tesla driver rear-ended him at speed. A Snohomish man, 56, was commuting in his 2022 Tesla Model S when he activated the car’s camera-based advanced driver assist system and according to his statements to police, began looking through his phone. With nobody paying attention to the car’s actions, the Tesla software ignored Jeffrey Nissen on his motorcycle and continued on at speed. The car rear-ended the two-wheeler, Nissen was flung from the bike, and his life ended pinned underneath the electric car, where he was still lodged when police arrived to the scene.
Tesla claims another life.
Reminder that even if you are personally aware of how dangerous Tesla vehicles are and vow to never ride in one, they can still kill you.
My own driving habits have changed around them. I always give Teslas extra space, avoid following them directly, and expect them to stop or swerve suddenly without notice.
Cannot count the times I've pulled up next to a Tesla at freeway speed, noticed the driver playing on their phone. Tap the horn. They look up with surprise.
Please, don't be that guy.
