Kit: Much like Jordan's Pop Culture favorite last constellation, this week I was LOCKED IN. How could it be anything but Perseus "Percy" Jackson?! A great MG-YA series featuring Greek myths!

Jordan: Straight out of the Kitchen with this choice -- the Perseus the pickleball racket! Do we know who Ben Johns is? No. Do we know if this is worth the $$$? No. Do we like the space theming and name? OF COURSE.

Though, we both agreed that the practical effects of the 1981 original seemed enchanting! I mean... look at Medusa:

Kit: I loved the mission of this pick ("to make a full record of humanity, as intellectually accessible as possible, to every human being, regardless of linguistic or cultural background")... but why didn't they name it after the Muses or Hermes or... you know ANYONE else?!

Drew Perseus in 1953-1954, when he was a MGB (KGB's predecessor) officer. I headcanon'd him that he served in the Red Army first and seen combat during WW2, then transferred to MGB after the war, which then the agency renamed to KGB in 1954.

During this period he already joined the Perseus collective, but he wasn't the leader yet. He became the next leader of the collective in 1960 (the only photograph of him in the game is when he was recently appointed as head of the spy ring/collective) and took up the nickname "Perseus" from his predecessor. Perseus, the most Perseus. The Perseusest of the Perseuses. The Perseus that out-Perseused the other Perseus. PERSEUS

Also he popped and drank two of his most vintage wines that he'd been saving for over a decade the day when Stalin died, and subsequently Beria's death both in 1953, because most of his family members and relatives were almost wiped out in the Great Purge, and his father (a high ranking officer) was executed during the 1941 Red Army Purge, while Perseus was out fighting in the Eastern Front.

Honestly, I think that just makes the story of Perseus even sadder tho. Cause after all of it, Medusa was still killed by a man in her sleep for no reason other than her name, and was used to attack Perseuses(?) enemies, and was treated like an executioner by the people who were trying to get rid of Perseus. Plus Athena helped Perseus on his journey to kill Medusa, and like Medusa was a priestess, so to have your goddess betray you like that seems just painful.
