Train Time
flickr
Train Time by Don Kalkman Via Flickr: CSX Z413 was passing through Perryville on the Philly Sub in 1994.
CSX SD50 8503 led SD40-2 8056 and C30-7 7001 had the Conrail run-through freight well in hand.
That honker on the 8503's roof was fantastic.

#OTD in 1862 – At the Battle of Perryville, Kentucky, “Little Phil” Sheridan is one of the key officers leading Union soldiers against the Confederate forces of Braxton Bragg.
Phil Sheridan’s parents John and Mary Meenagh Sheridan had emigrated from Co Cavan. Sheridan’s diminutive stature of five feet five inches earned him the nickname “Little Phil”. In his memoirs, Sheridan writes: “My parents, John and Mary Sheridan, came to America in 1830, having been induced by the representations of my father’s uncle, Thomas Gainor, then living in Albany, NY, to try their…

Dear Gus & Magnus,
The Choate Boys had a big day today while Mom was at work. We built a giant house with the nuggets, then we played swords for a while. Gus had questions about "real swords," so I couldn't help myself and went to get the sword that belonged to your 4th great-grandfather, which I've been told was issued to him by the Confederate Army -- he fought with the 44th North Carolina Infantry. Anyway, that kinda blew Gus's mind and he didn't want to put it away. But we eventually did because we had to drive to Perryville to tour a house Grandpa & Tutu like. We liked it too, and you both ran around the five acres like maniacs.
Afterward, we drove the hour back to Yiayia's house to watch the Super Bowl. We stayed later than I meant to and we didn't come home until the 3rd quarter after Magnus had already started to turn into a pumpkin because he also didn't nap this afternoon. Big day, but we survived it.
Dad.
Little Rock, Arkansas. 2.11.2024 - 9.00am.
