I love that idea of a sort of time loop that exists on multiple metaphysical levels, all valid, pretty intriguing.
But maybe it's just my umineko loving self. Pathologic kinda reminds me a bit of Umineko. You should read umineko btw you'll love it.
so i'm very new to pathologic but i have managed to discover discourse about "how ooc are the fanfics where the healers actually cure and comfort each other, the three of them are all bastards and if you have a different interpretation you haven't engaged in the text in the way i assume is the only correct one"
i love it because the cover art for marble nest is
canonically
which depicts exactly that. These three characters may have ideological differences and may not get along with each other... a good 90% of the time, depending on the route you're playing in both games. But they're in the town to heal and comfort the ill, that's their duty and mission, one they take dead seriously, so why would they abandon each other in time of need? They're also canonically taking care of each other in both games, also depending on the route. Their words can be scathing, but their actions speak louder.
Adding to the irony is that those arguments look to me as being against shipping burakhovsky because stop ruining my russian game with teh yaoi, but the original picture was actuallya burakhovsky fanart that IPL loved and bought for the dlc.

yeah ok goddamn. finding DE longfic that I don’t passionately disagree with is going to be hard. it’s not like it’s something people can just leave in the tags “I agree with permian-tropos dot tumblr dot com” there’s no way of knowing if someone feels the same way as I do about some of this extremely nuanced stuff
I loved the game so so much and the fan content is really high quality and I can’t fault it for that, these people are good writers and should be proud of their work and people should be reading and praising what they wrote, but I am in so much disagreement right now
#send fucking halp#I am not blaming people for having different tastes from me I just can't get my fix now#I need my fix of kim and harry do kim and harry things#untitled disco game

9 people you'd like to know better
A bit late sorry ;; Tagged by @inkpot-demigod :3
Last song: The sweetest drug by madcon. That entire album is fire I gotta say.
Currently watching: Succession, because I love to get into things five years late :P Slowly working my way through the American gods adaptation too.
Currently reading: Several books at the same time. More recent one is “The Marigold” by Andrew F. Sullivan. It’s a near-future climate horror set in megacorp-infested Toronto, featuring badly constructed buildings, the horrifying mycellium-based, potentially eldritch abominations living in them, a lovely cast of broke people and depressingly stupid billionaires.
Current obsession: Fandom wise? Elden ring for the last couple of months, but i unfortunately watched spiderverse last week so that’s gonna be on my mind for a while. Been having a few strokes of inspo for Patho too.

Pathologic classic ask game!
1. Favorite main character?
When I originally started delving into the fandom, it was Artemy. I made a lot of assumptions based on the Hbomberguy video. (Artemy Good, Daniil bad. Termite good, Utopian bad, etc...) I still very much like his down-to-earth nature, capacity for carrying more organs than you thing, and his sense of humor + his hero's journey... But then I actually played the games instead of just watching them. And I am a Daniil Dankovsky lover. He is my favorite healer, and more than anything I want him to be able to make a tangible change in the world. His narrative of disempowerment is compelling, and more than any of the other healers; he is the one I want to take care of and make sure he's okay. And when I was playing his classic route... I really liked being him. I am genuinely really excited for P2 Bachelor route for this reason.
3. Dumbest way you've died so far?
Oh my god, this is such a great ask I don't even know where to begin. I did intentionally try to get Daniil set on fire just the right amount to hopefully cure him of Sand Pest and that took like 40 tries to get right. Permian-Tropos is my moral support during playthroughs and I do talk about what I'm strategizing and trying to do. I think the worst thing that happened to me once was us both loudly bragging that we were going to live forever after narrowly avoiding death, and then poor Artemy immediately got hit in the face by an angel cloud, started getting chased by a rat, and then also ran right into a guy with a knife.
6. How did you learn of pathologic? I, like many of you, were introduced to the game by the Hbomberguy video. I watched it repeatedly and then COVID happened, so it seemed like a fitting game to try to play.
9. What stresses you out the most about pathologic?
I answered this one in a prior ask, but yes! It's the time-crunch. It's also soothing to me though too, because my brain functions optimally when exposed to positive stress. I need real-feeling consequences to be motivated to succeed.

based on p2 artemy’s impeccable deadpan wit and tendency to lie in absurd ways for the sake of amusing only himself, p1 oyun’s idea of testing artemy being hazing him and jerking his chain, aspity in marble nest dying in front of daniil to assert dominance, ‘’look a snake-man. let us call him moga’’ sounding like a call to Bully This Guy, I kinda headcanon the kin have an extremely advanced grasp of ironic humor
yes!!! and let’s not forget Aspity vaguely threatening to fuck your wife if you turn your back on her (the wife. not Aspity. unless...)What an icon. Ofc we can’t judge the delivery of these lines because of, well, the lack of dubbing, but I can totally imagine them being masters of deadpan humor
also remember that one boatman Worm (Boatworm) bullshitting you in your face how “oooh, there’s this totally *cryptic* and *magical* reason for which I can’t take you out of the infected district to spread the plague all over, oooh” and then admitting that he does that because otherwise, the townsfolk won’t take “no” for an answer? I can imagine them doing that, for once taking advantage that people around them are mostly ignorant about their believes and customs. “Yes, there’s *mystical and exciting reason* for which you can’t pet this bull” and the reason is the booha doesn’t trust you and can run faster than you asfgaagfdas go away
#pathologic#pathologic 2#also I love how in P1 there was this incredibly vague idea of why Daniil and Artemy couldn't enter the abattoir#something around the lines of 'oooh there are dark forces and energies and stuff and we need to wait till the stars align'#then in P2 you ask Oyun the same questionand he's like#'it's because all the workers are locked inside the termitary you moron you absolute buffoon'#permian-tropos

thoughts on rubin and artemy brotherly relationship — I have wondered if artemy wanted to fill a gap in his family he doesn’t quite know how to express with his older brother being gone. not sure if he knew ersher, whether he died before artemy was born or when he was very little but either way I feel like stakh was his way of giving himself the brother he lost
STOP IM GOING TO CRY....... YEAH........
also i think it mightve been a similar thing for isidor too, taking rubin in and teaching him alongside(?) artemy, having the two of them learn from him.... and there’s one time you talk with rubin in p2 where he literally calls isidor “father” and he and artemy talk about isidor using the same terms and it KILLS me
[weeps and points at artemy and rubin arguing] b....brothers.........

@permian-tropos ^ 👏👏👏
Analysis of data from dozens of foraging societies around the world shows that women hunt in at least 79% of these societies, opposing the widespread belief that men exclusively hunt and women exclusively gather. Abigail Anderson of Seattle Pacific University, US, and colleagues presented these findings in the open-access journal PLOS ONE on June 28, 2023. A common belief holds that, among foraging populations, men have typically hunted animals while women gathered plant products for food. However, mounting archaeological evidence from across human history and prehistory is challenging this paradigm; for instance, women in many societies have been found buried alongside big-game hunting tools. Some researchers have suggested that women's role as hunters was confined to the past, with more recent foraging societies following the paradigm of men as hunters and women as gatherers. To investigate that possibility, Anderson and colleagues analyzed data from the past 100 years on 63 foraging societies around the world, including societies in North and South America, Africa, Australia, Asia, and the Oceanic region. They found that women hunt in 79% of the analyzed societies, regardless of their status as mothers. More than 70% of female hunting appears to be intentional—as opposed to opportunistic killing of animals encountered while performing other activities, and intentional hunting by women appears to target game of all sizes, most often large game. The analysis also revealed that women are actively involved in teaching hunting practices and that they often employ a greater variety of weapon choice and hunting strategies than men. These findings suggest that, in many foraging societies, women are skilled hunters and play an instrumental role in the practice, adding to the evidence opposing long-held perceptions about gender roles in foraging societies. The authors note that these stereotypes have influenced previous archaeological studies, with, for instance, some researchers reluctant to interpret objects buried with women as hunting tools. They call for reevaluation of such evidence and caution against misapplying the idea of men as hunters and women as gatherers in future research. The authors add, "Evidence from around the world shows that women participate in subsistence hunting in the majority of cultures."
