managed to catch the last twenty minutes of a writing workshop run by a local author whose work i have not read & at the end he passingly mentioned that he does a lot of stuff with invisible illness because of his own autoimmune stuff & so i came up to talk to him very incoherently like "oh invisible illness!! i-!! lupus!!" and he was like "OH AMAZING" and then took my email and is putting me in touch with his professional writing partner who writes and teaches almost exclusively about living with & managing chronic illness & injecting people's illness experiences into fiction :) flapping a bit about it.

I am still salty about how Bethesda didn't implement the Confirmed Bachelor or Cherchez La Femme in Fallout 4, and just excluded perk based speech in general. Yeah sure, we finally had romance options and all of the companions you can romance are "player sexual", but the lack of including those perks just makes the game feel so shallow in comparison to the Original Fallout games and New Vegas. And unless you romance a woman as Nora or a man as Nate, same sex relationships might as well not exist in their Fallout games.

i like the idea of like. character A and character B just started dating, maybe they’ve known each other for a bit but they’ve only just made it official, so they’re both still in that phase of being kinda nervous around each other and really wanting to impress the other and not embarrass themselves

so when they’re on a date and A realizes they kind of have to pee… well, it’s not that bad, they can hold it, and besides, they’re having way too much fun on the date to ask for a break (this also works super well if A was already the type to be kinda shy about bodily functions)

and the date goes on… and on… and on

and wow, A’s need is getting worse faster than they thought it would, but they’ve already been out and about for a few hours, surely they’ll be going home soon… but at this point it’s getting really hard to keep still and they really don’t want to squirm in front of B

finally, A decides fuck it, it’s an emergency, i need to find a bathroom—but as soon as they decide to do that, B suggests heading home since the place they’re at is about to close, and ohhhh, A really doesn’t want to hold them up… it’s not a crazy long drive back to A’s place, they can hold it that long, right?

and since B was the one who picked A up in the first place, they’re also the one to drive A back home, and A is absolutely bursting. restlessly fidgeting in the passenger seat, barely able to chat with B beyond short breathless replies. and poor B has no idea what’s going on! A can’t just admit that they’re about to wet themselves, they don’t want B to ask why they didn’t just go before they left, that would be soooo embarrassing!!!!!

and when they finally make it back to A’s place, A is ready to jump out of the car and run for the door… but oh, god, now B is asking if they can stay over and hang out for a bit! and sure, yes, A would love that, but they only have a few minutes until their bladder completely gives out on them!!!

so what does A do? do they accept the embarrassment that is immediately running to the bathroom as soon as they’re in the door (and possibly leaking on the way)? or do they try to play it cool, take their shoes off, and invite B to sit down before going, and risk the much, much worse embarrassment of having an accident in the process?

my roommate keeps trying to get me to play marvel rivals but here's the issue. i don't care about it. i don't care about Marvel anymore. thinking about it makes me tired. "the gameplay is good" one of my top five favorite games is Pathologic Classic. i don't play games for the "gameplay"

the job market truly sucks right now. I'm gonna share my story without doxxing myself in hopes its helpful to you. I got my degree in film making about 20 years ago and have done a lot of free lance work since then, specifically producing reality tv shows so think jersey shore, tlc, etc.

However, as you know in any art/music/tv/creative industry, it's so hard to find consistent work/projects to make a living. When I wasn't finding consistent work, I applied to a state job in the Court system as a clerk and I did that for a number of years. Eventually, I got tired of my court job because it was getting mundane so I left and did reality tv full time. However, I stayed long enough at that court job to qualify for a pension and health insurance so If i wasnt finding work at least I know I have my benefits from my old job.

a few years ago, I left reality tv and went back to doing a state job, this time at CPS. i like CPS because I get to apply what I learned in the film industry at CPS too. with reality tv I interview the stars and with CPS im interviewing people to get information I need. Now, because I have already worked for the state for a certain # of years, i am now vested so my salary is higher then most people starting at CPS. I would still need to do a certain amount of years at CPS before I retire but it wont be the typical 20-25 yrs like most jobs. This would be because I'm already vested in the system here then I can retire.

My point is, apply to state jobs you think your degree is qualified for. You may end up doing something completely then what you went to school for but at least you will have security. and that to me at least is the most important thing a job can offer you.

ik my reply to this is really late but thank u so much anon, this is rly kind of u to go out of ur way to say and it means a lot. i couldn't have predicted my industry imploding but i'm definitely giving this a shot, and ik a few ppl that have gone this route and been much happier as a result, so here's to hoping that something goes thru and works out!!!
