It is true! I don't use those pads but there was one of those wrappers in the bin the other day.
in australia if a girl goes to the bathroom and comes back with a seemingly random fact then you know exactly what time of the month it is

it’s that time again
No I’m not talking about Christmas or Haunaka or whatever anyone celebrates, I mean period time. For me. so here’s some stuff about periods I wished I was taught, but instead found out on my own because I was taught talking about the menstrual cycle was “gross”
-It isn’t always red, sometimes the blood can be blackish or even a brownish red color
-your uterus is not in your hood like it’s show, upright and full of space, it’s actually crammed and folded so it sits in your hips
-your hips are slightly contracted, hence why you have cramps, so your uterus has more space and you aren’t hurt
-most people don’t really smell the smell periods give off, unless they know what it smells like(so don’t worry about ‘omg are people gonna know?!’ because most of the time nobody’s paying attention to what’s going on)
-periods up the production of testosterone to the amount of a males(on average) and why some people get a little bit angrier on period week, so when someone says ‘oh you’re mad because your on your period’ hit them with the fact that you’re literally in the same hormone range as a male
so whether your a female, a FtM, or just someone/something with a uterus, a period isn’t a staple of becoming a woman, it’s just an indicator you’re not pregnant, Yippe :)
possum out, night y’all!

It’s Fossil Friday! If you’ve been inside the Museum’s Hall of Vertebrate Origins, you may have noticed this marine reptile hanging overhead. Meet Thalassomedon haringtoni, a long-necked plesiosaur that lived during the Late Cretaceous some 85 million years ago. This behemoth had a relatively small head and many sharp teeth. Its long, flexible neck probably helped in grasping rapidly moving prey. Plesiosaurs, a group related to lizards, lived in the sea. Although they weren’t dinosaurs, they became extinct at the end of the Cretaceous around 65 million years ago, at the same time as the non-avian dinosaurs.
The Museum is open daily from 10 am–5:30 pm! Plan your visit.

If you’re gonna care about prison abolition and justice you are necessarily going to have to care about the people who DID do those crimes and just want to reintegrate and live a normal life without hurting anyone. You're gonna have to be cool with the fact that the guy scanning your groceries might’ve raped someone. You're gonna have to relax about the possibility that your bank teller used to be a career criminal. The person sitting next to you on the bus might’ve committed three different murders, and as long as he's not about to commit a fourth right now, that's not your fuckin' problem. People don't disappear from society after they commit crimes, and most of them really just want to live a normal, stable life instead of going back to that. And the best way to make sure they don't relapse is to ensure they're able to live that peaceful life instead of freaking out because the guy next door used to run a dogfighting ring. You don’t have to be friends with them, you don't even have to like them, but you're gonna need to be okay with them existing in society. Sorry.

Have you noticed these windows?
These images showcases a beautiful set of old, possibly medieval or early modern windows, which contain distinct "bullseye" panes. These "bullseyes" were a byproduct of a historical glass-making technique called crown glass production. During this process, molten glass would be spun into a disk, and the central portion, where the rod had been attached, would form a thick, rounded distortion — the bullseye. Originally considered flawed or less desirable compared to the smooth outer edges, these panes were often sold at a lower cost.
The bullseye feature is now cherished for its historical charm and rustic character. Because modern methods of glass production allow for flawless, uniform sheets of glass, this style of window pane is no longer deliberately replicated, giving such windows a unique, irreplaceable quality. The reflection of the light in these windows, along with the subtle distortions from the bullseyes, adds a sense of warmth and antiquity to the building.
In modern settings, these features are often sought after by those who appreciate craftsmanship and history. The uneven, hand-crafted appearance of these windows contrasts with today's mass-produced glass, making each pane unique and full of character, adding not just aesthetic value but also a tangible connection to the past.
