Steven Universe Au: ✧Citrine✧

Citrine was a homeworld gem that served under Yellow Diamond and was passed down to Pink and eventually fought in the Gem War. Due to being such a faithful soldier to Pink Diamond, he ended up with quite a bit of battle scars due to having to fight gems he once bonded with, eventually taking a toll on his mental health and making him question his own loyalty towards the diamond. Unfortunately for him, he was one of the many gems that weren't able to evacuate safely before being hit by the corrupted light beam, turning him into a fox beast for hundreds of years until the very same Crystal Gems he fought way back when found him, poofed him, and bubbled him. The Gems told Steven not to tamper with bubbled gems, but like his rebellious mother, Steven did his own thing and unbubbled him, he almost died but ended up healing Citrine to almost his former state. It took a while for Citrine to grasp that he was never going to get back to his homeworld. He was now under the roof of the enemy, Pink diamond was shattered, and the diamonds basically left him corrupted forever, but once he realized this, he truly began to heal from it with the help of his newfound team.

Personality: Stern and snarky towards any gem who wasn't one of the diamonds before meeting the Crystal Gems, afterward, his personality really got to shine through. He's actually quite bubbly, and no one can stop him when he has his mind on something. He tends to still be somewhat standoffish to others he's unfamiliar with but warms up to them quite nicely in due time.

Yellow Olivine Darnold in two outfits: the homeworld outfit and the on-earth oufit. The homeworld version resembles a warmer, high-collar version of Peridot's outfit with limb enhancers and a green visor, and features Darnold with a yellow coloured flat top afro and dark orange skin. His gem, which is green and triangular, resides on his forehead. The on-earth version features her wearing a duku headwrap with a star-shaped bow in the front, a yellow visor, yellow gloves and boots, a labcoat with a three-pointed collar like the top half of a star, and a one-piece swimsuit-like apparel separated into two shades of green by an inverted "V".

3 early Gem-Darnold sketches: Darnold in a mish-mash outfit consisting of a scarf, labcoat, a visor, arcade-patterned shirt, polkadot skirt, striped socks, rocket boots, and the headwrap. He is holding a clipboard and pen, and seems to be observing something. Beside that is a sketch of Darnold in homeworld attire, projecting a holographic screen with her floating, limb enhancer fingers. And lastly, Darnold in a labcoat again, looking sheepish.

Banded Carnelian Gordon and human Joshua: Gordon is a fat, bearded, one-armed gem with a ponytail, wearing a rounded visor over his eyes, a hoodie with stars on the ends of the drawstrings, sweatpants, and sneakers. His gem, located on his upper chest, is chipped. Joshua is a wide-eyed kid with floofy, spikey hair in a cowboy outfit with a star-shaped sheriff's badge and toy horse. There's a sketch of Joshua attempting to eat a worm, and another of Gordon looking very tired.

Blue Dumortierite Benrey: He resembles a quartz in uniform and body type, except shorter and wearing a hood. His left hand is hidden behind his back, but a callout drawing shows that there is a raindrop-shaped gem inserted sideways into the back of his hand.

Lapis Benrey: He is a fat gem with an undercut and bangs, and is wearing an outfit that resembles Lapis's, except with tights instead of a skirt. He is sitting cross-legged with his watery wings out, and is throwing a peace-sign, his gem now visible on his left hand and in it's original, flat position. Next to this is Benrey in his earth-outfit, consisting of a cap with a star decal on the side and ear flaps and a ponytail sticking out the back, a crop-top hoodie with a star-shaped open patch on the back, a translucent skirt, and open-toe tights. He's making a kissy face, and is posed with one foot kicked up behind him and a hand on his hip, the other hand flipping his cap ear flap like you would long hair.

Yellow Agate Tommy: He is a tall, lanky gem with hair styled resembling a mound atop his head with rings resembling the agate mineral, and is dressed like Holly Blue Agate with a high-collar, shawl, and high boots. He is standing attentively with his hands in the diamond pose. Beside that is a sketch of Tommy in an oversized Beach City Funland shirt and a propeller hat he'd won at the Funland. He touches the cap reverantly like he's just had a revelation from having fun for once in millenia and this is a turning point for him. Next to that is Tommy in his earth-outfit, consisting of a short puffy-sleeved top with 2 pompoms down the front, a bowtie, a cummerbund, and tights with shoes tipped with pompoms. Sunkist, a corrupted Pearl who resembles a large, masked bird, is lolling her tongue happily while she recieves some scritches from a smiling Tommy.

Corrupted Cream Pearl Sunkist: Originally, she is a Pearl with shoulder-length hair and a curl on her forehead and attire that resembles Pink Pearl's except with a translucent curtain around her shoulders instead. She stands with a foot pointed out in front of her like a ballerina, and her fingers interlocked before her chest. Next to it is a drawing of her corrupted, bird creature form. Additionally, there is a sketch of her after she is newly healed, touching her face in wonderment and tearing up. She now mostly looks like a Pearl, except with longer hair resembling wings, no nose, and an inverted "V" line across the middle of her face.

Green Quartz Dr Coomer: He is an old gem in Quartz uniform with a roundish moustache, a balding head and under-eye wrinkles. His weapon are two huge gauntlets, like Garnet's. A round gem resides on top of his forehead. On Earth, he wears a singlet with ripped edges around the armpits resembling a star-shape, and suspenders with star-shaped buckles. He flexes, showing off his bulging arm muscles.

Fusion-Zircon Bubby: He looks like an average Zircon, just slightly taller and much older, and with two monocles instead of one. His hair droops back in a triangle, and his boxy jacket has unbalanced shoulderpads with two jutting out from one shoulder and only one from the other, and a mis-matched number of line decal on his sleeves and pant legs. He also has heeled boots and a three-pointed hankerchief under his gem - a fusion of several shards of Zircon. He's posed with his head tilted up and hands on his hips. On Earth, he has a balding head with hair also angled in a triangle behind his head. He wears a tracksuit with a big star pattern front and centre. His sleeves and boots are mis-matched in lengths. /End ID.]

I’ve not got a lot of work out since I started writing again later last year, but this is what I’ve got! A few of these lines are about hunger and longing, but otherwise I don’t think that I see much of a pattern (other than that they all revolve around Astarion lolol.)

A Time Before: There was a time before blood, gods… a time before the incessant gnawing in his stomach, his palate ravenous for blood and blood and BLOOD and gods please MORE BLOOD and…

A Simple Life: “Imagine though, if we had stayed back in Evereska we could have had a simple life. Well… at least compared to the ones we’ve lived. Perhaps my bitch of a mother would have sold me off to your family to wed you — for a handsome dowry of course,” Tali mused, staring up at the night sky and the thumbnail of a moon that bled the faintest silver light upon the land, “can you even imagine? We would have been absolutely miserable.”

Nothing Can Make Up For That: For a time Astarion had screamed ceaselessly in the perpetual darkness, scratching his fingers to tatters, to the bones. They healed in a short time, as they always did, but he would run them ragged again and again.

Devoured: It seemed to Astarion that all he had ever known was hunger. Before his death he had only been peckish though; he had gathered a taste for riches and glamour rising through the ranks of Baldurian society.

Endlessly: Astarion glared at the fire from his makeshift excuse for a tent as he assessed the bizarre situation that he had found himself thrown into. He felt like a stone tossed across water, careening wildly and destined to sink.

(WIP) Night Blooming Flowers: “Keep em’ closed, love,” Tali breathed into his ear and Astarion grinned from the side of his mouth, exposing a coy glint of fang in the golden candlelight. He entertained his songbird’s little game by holding one pale hand over his eyes, though he desperately longed to behold his lover, whose lips now lingered so very close to his skin.

(WIP) untitled: Astarion eyed the ring under the glass, dazzling in the pale mage light set above the display. It was a pretty thing for the most part, a patterned gold band with two fine peridots surrounding an intricate enamel death head. The hollows of the eyes were set with small black diamonds, and it was the skull itself that he didn’t much care for. A memento mori.

There are some roads in life you never think that you will follow. Then, tragedy happens, you are beaten and orphaned. Alone in this cold world... soul broken far to early...and innocence is lost in one fell swoop. That broken soul will cling to anything they see as light...good and kind.

So that is what a child, with gold eyes did...So lost, and lonely...hungry and dying. "Save me..." He'd waited, and waited for someone he'd never met to reach their hand out and save him.

That person, who his young heart couldn't remember, never showed up...and so shivering in those desolate streets he was going to die.

But what if suddenly...the kind hand you did finally reach, and thought was saving you...was actually damning you? You become nothing but a little...lost lamb.

Who has blood on their hands...

You become so...so Cold now.----

A scream rang through the air, a loud thump of a man hitting the ground. A man, dressed in black...and striking gold eyes the center of this impromptu group fight was in the center. A calm...cold look on his face as he watched another man fall, blood on the ground...His knife in his chest, the voice on the other end of his earpiece had his attention. Body moving swiftly to dispatch the annoyance.

"Yes sir, the meetings been scheduled with the other directors. Currently clearing out the location now."

He scowls, dodging the fist that was thrown his way. Fucking bellow, he swept his leg underneath the opponent before quickly grabbing his gun. A bullet between the eyes. Another body to join the rest of the scum. Rover scoffed, kicking the man aside. As traps went, this has to be one of the most pathetic attempts. His boss had been summoned this planet, stating they had wanted to host the next IPC board meeting. Unfortunately, for them, Diamond had not come...but his P.A Peridot. They'd thought him weak, unarmed and easy to target. Little did they know the initials of his title stood for two things...

He pressed his finger to the ear piece, "Area is cleared. Building unsuitable for board members, and message is being sent." With a tap, he hung up and began the 'area sweeping', which essentially meant getting rid of the bodies. Rover had been doing this for so many years it was second nature, gone was the shock. The horror...the regret. Now it was just a job, one that he'd long numbed himself to. Rain began to pour, washing away the evidence in the stained earth. Filling the lake in which these poor saps were now buried in. Shame it wasn't the 'heads' who had ordered the poorly thought out assassination attempt.

He threw the last one into the water, watching him sink a moment.... before glancing behind him. "Are you planning to watch me all day? Or are you going to come out?" He'd sensed someone following him when he'd traveled- but then again as one of the 'lesser' employee's to an IPC board member you got used to tails and stalker. He'd first thought it was someone with the goons...but it wasn't. Else they'd have stopped him. So who?

Pain and sorrow seemed to follow Lapis everywhere she went, never threading too far behind. She was used to it, really;

Adapting was never easy for her, changes shocking her gem to the core and leaving her feeling far to venerable and exposed than she'd like to admit;

It all happened too fast yet too slow. She felt all of it, the bone chilling sensation of her body being mutilated against her will making her light-made intestines curl in disgust;

While her memory of the incident was blurry and scattered, the feeling of pure panic and terror couldn't seem to leave her head even long after being brought back;

It didn't help that her physical form was now tarnished, reminding her of the incident whenever she looked at her reflection;

She now had numerous irregular spots and cracks of gold scattered around her blue skin, reflecting in the light like rivers at sunrise. Some may say they're beautiful. To her, they seemed to only be a reminder of yet another tragedy;

Aside from the spots of gold, she could now feel slight bumps resembling fish scales on some parts of her body as well as webbed fingers and two long whisker-like antenas hanging loosely from her crown, swaying gently with her movements;

She looked aquatic, like an odd mermaid crossing the lands against all odds;

At first, she shut herself out, refusing to interact with anyone but Steven, though even that seemed to be a challenge when his eyes reflected her new, strange appearance right back at her;

But Steven was always determined to help his loved ones through it all, never giving up on them, even when they lash out and shut it all out and make it as difficult as it can be;

It stated with Peridot, when the barn was rebuild and their little oasis back in it's intended place. And although Lapis was very adamant on never speaking to another gem again, Peridot kept trying to get her best to support her without letting her fall back into her lonely ways;

Everyday Peridot would come to Lapis's room to talk her ear off and offer comfort. Slowly but surely she got her trust back.

Whenever Lapis would feel self-conscious about her looks, Peridot would do something to make herself look as ridiculous as possible. Cover herself in mud, draw all over herself, style her hair into progressively more ridiculous shapes.

Whenever she was haunted by the memories of her past traumas, Peridot would be there to calm her down, wrapping her up in a blanket like a burrito and putting on some kind of old movie to distract her friend from the terrible thought roaming through her head;

She started going out more, flying around the area to take in the beauty of earth or to help with the creation of little homeworld;

She stopped fearing her reflection and started to appreciate the little parts of herself she oh so hated beforehand;

She created and vented her feelings out by arts and crafts, pouring all that negativity into pieces both haunted and gorgeous;

And by the time they found out that Yellow Diamond could reverse her appearance back to it's original form, she had grown to appreciate it enough to refuse the offer;

Some days were better and some were worse, but she now had a family that cared about her deeply and kived her just the way she was;

She didn't need to hide and run anymore, she could count on them to pull her out of the deep ends whenever she felt like she was drowning;

She was healing slowly and feeling a little more okay each day, untill the day she can say she's truly happy again.
