(Another) Ghost in the Machine
DP x Hellblazer (the original John Constantine comic)
Ritchie Simpson continued to search frantically for the connection out of the computer and back to his body as he begged John to explain what he meant by saying “Goodbye.”
Had John disconnected him? He knew John’s sense of humor wasn’t the lightest, especially after Newcastle drove them all a bit insane, but that felt too far even for him. Nah, he’d probably just gotten himself a bit lost in the wave of energy he’d experienced in the Tongues of Fire network and was accidentally looking for his body in the wrong spot.
He pulled himself back and let his mental connection to the digital world expand outward, probing the rest of the machine for the connection. He knew he was in the right system, so as long as he looked thoroughly he’d definitely fi—
Everything flashed a surge of blinding white and then was replaced by pure darkness. He thought he screamed, but he couldn’t hear his own voice. Couldn’t even feel his own thoughts. Trapped in one single instant that stretched for indeterminable eons. Then, eventually (or was it immediately?), awareness began to trickle back.
He was still in the computer, though it felt… different, somehow. His thoughts still weren’t entirely in order. The first possible hints towards his location he found were the sound voices trickling through from the outside world. Voices he didn’t recognize. Young voices.
“I’m happy to help, Tuck, but I’m not really sure what you expect me to do here. You’re way better than me at this computer stuff than me.”
“By all means, feel free to keep complimenting me, but this has been frying my brain, man. I got this thing secondhand, and the system should be quite powerful, but there’s something using up a ton of its processing and I can’t figure out what. I was hoping you could do your ‘enter into the computer’ thing and see if you see anything.”

I just don't know how he expected anyone (i.e. me) to be normal about it afterwards#once you've introduced BATB; it ceases to be a fun and casual reference and just makes the literature major girlies go feral#i thought this was gonna be a quick and easy little project but it wasn't#the parallels are all there but they're in slightly different order in EoA than the original and the pacing for each reference is differen#so i had to determine which ones I needed to skip frames for and which ones to use all the frames#and then try to figure out the speed from there#the coronation day scenes were very hard to color because the grey skies and muted filter kind of whitewash the characters#like you don't even understand i added so MUCH vibrance and saturation to the 4th and 5th gifs but elena's skin still is just gray#and the coloring is still just a very very mixed bag#also i've realized that while I don't think it was an intentional reference in the same way BATB was#anna's sacrifice and resurrection from frozen is perhaps just as --if not more-- a clear parallel to the coronation day scene than BATB#so maybe I will do that one someday too?#once i psych myself up again to try coloring coronation day again#which i imagine will be awhile#these do not look like the same scene and pretty much the same scene at all even if i tried to use the same psd when i could#and edit them to make the coloring as close as i could

perhaps unpopular but while I do agree the EXU interlude likely killed some of the momentum, I also...don't mind that the party didn't talk much this episode? I feel like the start of the episode created an opening that not everyone took, though we did have some good moments, but also, for all I adore episode 2x30 and 1x69 re: wake of a character's death, and i do think 3x92's first half was very strong, it feels very right and in-character that Ashton isn't ready to talk about it (and that Dorian isn't really talking yet either).

Not a fan of Jack is the New God but big fan of Chuck didn't realize how big of a threat Jack was, "I can't tell whether you're the chicken or the snake" kind of mistake, a mistake that eventually didn't kill him but de-godified him.
Like I'm creating this theory of mine where basically Jack's help in Cas' resurrection meant the creation of an alternate timeline where Cas could resurrect on his own. Where resurrection was a possibility for everybody without deals and unnecessary suffering. In other words, a timeline where the past doesn't stay dead and death is "just" a gate between dimensions. That would explain why Billie was so pissed. Jack messing up Time would have been chef's kiss for me but real trouble for her.
Jack wasn't just able to open rifts but he could actually create new timelines, new stories and therefore new worlds that God didn't want. And we know God didn't want a world with Castiel in it because of Dean's prayer to him which he refused to answer (I've always wondered why Dean didn't try and pray to Amara, she got him Mary back maybe she was more amenable to a second resurrection?).
Given the high number of actual and symbolical resurrections from s11 onwards (S11 starts with Billie's threat: from now on what is dead stays dead) I think that what really ticked Chuck off was when Jack tries to resurrect Mary. The "Mary Winchester is complete" is Heaven's bullshit. Jack also decides that Lucifer cannot resurrect and that meant problem for Chuck. In Jack's world resurrection is a possibility for all but he also plays God with it and I think that got Chuck really scared.
The moment Jack wants a world with no lies that world happens and, as we know, Chuck is a liar. It's the straw that breaks the camel's back: he has to intervene.
It's then no wonder that this is the moment that leads to the revelation that he's the man behind the curtain and, in a fit of rage, he shows off his power by resurrecting all the dead the "wrong" way (zombies, ghosts, demons, etc) and starts erasing other "drafts" aka other stories/worlds. He decides what dies and what stays dead, that is his domain. Because if there's somebody else who can create new worlds where resurrection is an option then it means he has no power nor control in those worlds where new stories can happen and the past is never past.
Of course what I'm saying is far too revolutionary for any TV shows, voluntary resurrection is something our brain doesn't even want to entertain (although they did show us a character doing just that). So in the end Cas dies (and then sort of resurrects again but I wonder in what form and how), Dean dies and chooses not to be resurrected (but it's very much clear he's not complete) and Sam plays along the laws of the natural order so he dies too and he stays that way.

(spoilers for the new update btw; this is tagged as spoilers too but just to be safe) By the way, headcanon-wise, I don't think the parasite is out of Sozo's system that easily.
like. I understand to some extent imprisoning him is forcefully sobering him up by denying him further intoxication, which would be one thing, but this is not Just Drugs . this is Drug Parasite. That is a thang inside him that is alive
At least this is assuming that he is indeed based off of an ant with cordyceps. Which I figure is most likely But even if OTHERWISE, I emphasize:
we revived him. by planting the mushroom
Mans was resurrected . Not through our usual means. But through the mushroom. There is no way, if it is the literal Thing that brings him back to life, that he is separated from the parasite by just popping off the outward manifestation of it on his head .
Surely planting the parasite would only bring IT back. But it brings him with it when it is revived, because not only is he its host, he's the best damn host its had. Considering just how he goes to fucking town on those mushrooms (or the mushroomos)
I mean we could argue that re-education while in prison is a literal cleansing process somehow, but For Me. Personally. As someone who feeds too much on angst. I keep imagining a scene wherein Dr. Sozonius is just sprouting a new mushroom again (if not various across his exoskeleton) and just .freaking out. Because while he doesn't remember any of what he was like or what he did during that time, he knows that it fucked him UP because why WOULD IT NOT fuck him up .
he lost his family. his home. he has no idea where he is. he woke up in some strange place feeling like he was gonna vomit. because he was so full of mushrooms why wouldn't he.
but there's something still there. there's something depending on him to the point that HE depends on IT
and just gradually... as the mushroom(s) sprouts again... he starts slipping into his old mannerisms......... he starts craving..... and he knows he Should Not. he knows he's so old now it would just kill him (not knowing it already killed him once). surely he wouldn't handle it again.
but it's so . tempting. the mushrooms. he needs them. he can hear it. them. whispering. to him.
something internally. pulling

A new myth. A myth is not meant to be accurate history, but to tell a story that conveys a deeper spiritual truth. Stories are powerful.
This myth is the over-arcing story of Genesis to Jesus.
Note: I'm not trying to save you or anything.
I certainly don't want to ruin a perfectly good Atheist or Hindu or whatever. I write this for the fundamentalist Christians like myself.
My myth is the story of Genesis to Jesus. We get bits and pieces in church and Sunday school. Here's the whole thing in one hour. Really helps us to see more of the meaning in Christ's life, death, and resurrection.
(There's a 14 minute tl;dr explainer/addendum further down.)
youtube
I don't think God is waiting for us somewhere else. God is always with us, walking with you and me and every other person through time and never turns away. But home is where the heart is. And God wants us to come home to the heart of God where there is Love, kindness, justice, generosity, Creation, the poor, the oppressed, etc. The things God loves and cares about.
I don't even really want you to believe the truths within the story. I just want you to consider the possibility and see if it resonates for you with history, our experiences, scripture, and who we know God to be as revealed in Jesus. You need to wrestle with this angel and make it make sense to you. Especially if you can't understand. The less you understand the more I beg you to listen again and sit with it.
Tumblr media
I really don't want to convince you of anything. If you have the eyes to see, the ears to hear, and understanding, you'll probably be able to recognize the messages in here.
Rather than looking to confirm or reject the ideas you are expecting to find, please just consider. These are brand new ideas (for you anyway) using old pictures and familiar stories. But they are not the same ideas or messages. I'm telling a different story.
A 14 minute explainer of the primary take-away from all of this, along with addressing some mistakes/poorly communicated concepts.
youtube
Dear Reader,
If you are on the inside and reading this, just know I don't think you are foolish or silly or stupid. I don't think you are evil or hateful. I think you are very good and probably thoughtful and intelligent to boot. You are just fucked up like the rest of us and you were unlucky enough to be born into it or got tangled up inside. Happens to the best of us.
I think the story told in the longer video can help you see better where I'm coming from and that story can help you free yourself if you want to. If you don't want to free yourself, you can still watch it and entertain yourself by pointing out all the flaws and sending me a bulleted list😘.
Yours truly,
Kasandra
PS- You might hear a bit of anger or derision especially in the first few minutes. I'm not angry or derisive towards you or Christians in general or Jews at all. Any anger or derision towards people/powers is towards those much, much higher up the food chain than you or anyone you know (probably).
As I tell the story, I am using lots of voice inflections to tell the story and that include sometimes a sing-song or sarcastic tone. The tone of the story is never to make fun of the reader or Christians. It's never to say that I'm smarter than anybody or put people down or anything like that.
The purpose of the incredulous voice inflections is occasionally to draw your attention to a joke, but usually it is to highlight the absurdity of the story we were given. The absurdity of the theology we were given. And the absurdity of the judgmental, autocratic, 1-strike picture of God we were given.
See how it is different.
Consider what's different about this story & consider a few of these as you go:
-what is different from the original stories we were given (as you know them)
-what is different about the meaning
-is it more or less likely to be true than your present understanding of things, given all we know?
-Does it resonate with who we know God, humanity, creation, & the World to be?
-Does it seem truer in meaningful ways?
-Does it somehow misrepresent God or Truth?
-Does it encourage more things of God? (or of the World?)
-What do you think of the Paul and Philemon bit?

Exclusive Preview Image from today's X-Men Monday, with Steve Foxe
source here
The interview itself is about current and upcoming projects Foxe is doing, such as the X-Men '97 prequel mini, Blood Hunt Psylocke, and Dead X-Men.
But I'm really interested in this preview panel, which shows Sabretooth presumably on the ruins of Krakoa (at least, it looks like Krakoa to me, the weird tree-tunnels are distinct) searching for something using Quire as a guide.
Maybe its a Cerebro cradle?!?!!
It would explain the brain-breaking events indicated in the upcoming issues. Logan still has pretty strong telepathic resistance, so it'd make sense that Creed would seek out something strong enough to get into his head.

Can’t stop thinking about the possibility of Jon potentially gaining the ability to raise people from the dead in the future. It’s kind of out there but I don’t think it’s totally baseless, especially if he ends up being brought back to life by Mel (basically R’hllor magic). So the thing with the Last Kiss is that is involves breathing the fire of life into a deceased person, thereby reviving them. Thoros attributes this to his being able to resurrect Beric? And Beric then uses this to resurrect Catelyn Stark. But it’s like there’s a difference since Beric passed his entire life flame to Catelyn whereas Thoros only breathed life into Beric; also the idea of breathing life into someone gives some serious Judeo-Christian “and God breathed life into man” type stuff.
So anyway, if Mel uses red god magic to bring Jon back then it seems Jon might be similar to Beric in that he can also breathe life flame into someone else. There’s already enough parallels between them and it’s also possible that Jon might replicate Beric and create his own flaming sword, but his will be more like the Lightbringer that was wielded by Azor Ahai. But, I wonder if Jon’s ability to do this will have a much greater effect since he, unlike Beric, is an inherently magical being. And I also have to wonder if ice magic could play a role since Jon has both ice and fire; we have wights and possibly Coldhands as people brought back through ice magic.
There’s also another bit that just screams Christ-like ability to resurrect
She is Azor Ahai returned … and her triumph over darkness will bring a summer that will never end … death itself will bend its knee, and all those who die fighting in her cause shall be reborn …”
- Tyrion VI, ADWD
So this is obviously about Dany being AA, but the part about death bending it’s knee and Azor Ahai resurrecting people who fight his cause screams Jesus and some of the stuff said about the resurrection of saints to fight in Jesus’ cause. I’m personally a ‘Jon is also AA’ believer but the thing is that this also gives me Odin and the Einherjar vibes - fallen warriors who reside in Odin’s hall Valhalla and are poised to be reborn to fight in the god’s name during Ragnarok. There are a lot of similarities between Judeo-Christian apocalyptic imagery and pagan apocalyptic imagery, so Odin’s Einherjar mirroring Jesus’ saints isn’t surprising. And then we have Jon who has parallels both Jesus and Odin.
There’s also another bit that makes me think that there’s something about Jon bringing people to life - or rather reanimating dead people - as seen with his Winterfell crypt dreams.
Last night he had dreamt the Winterfell dream again. He was wandering the empty castle, searching for his father, descending into the crypts. Only this time the dream had gone further than before. In the dark he’d heard the scrape of stone on stone. When he turned he saw that the vaults were opening, one after the other. As the dead kings came stumbling from their cold black graves, Jon had woken in pitch-dark, his heart hammering. Even when Ghost leapt up on the bed to nuzzle at his face, he could not shake his deep sense of terror.
- Jon VII, AGOT
The Kings of Winter are recurring persons in several other dreams (e.g., Ned’s and Theon’s), but it’s only in Jon’s dreams where they actually come to life and leave their tombs. Jon even converses with them (and we don’t hear of that in either Ned’s or Theon’s inner narratives. It’s hard to tell if Jon is the one bringing them back from the dead, or if it’s something about him that causes them to rise. The interesting thing is that the Kings of Winter should have iron swords in their laps (possibly to keep their spirits at bay) but that doesn’t seem to work with Jon since they are reanimated anyway.
So considering all the evidence, I think it’s pretty likely that Jon could probably bring people to life, though it’s hard to tell how and with what magic (since he has a lot going on). Beric, who purposefully serves as foreshadowing for what mint happen to Jon is a good starting point. Anyway, both Jon and Beric for sure are like Christ-like figures. And Jesus has several instances of bringing people back from the dead which foreshadowed his own death and resurrection, most notably with his cousin Lazarus. Which leads me to the question, who’s going to be Jon’s Lazarus?
