(he thinks you feel the same way about him he feels about you but he’s still nervous). you get ready for bed, you in shorts and a top (or whatever you prefer) and steve’s obviously shirtless with sweats on. you tell him you don’t know how he sleeps with those on, you’d get too hot. he wiggles his eyebrows and asks if you want him to take them off? he gets the reaction he wants out of you, a bubbling sticky laugh that breaks away the nerves. you tell him he’s the worst, with no real heat behind it and he tells you to get into bed before he kicks you out. you’re laying face to face, whispering even though you don’t need to. talking about nothing and everything. he can tell you’re getting sleepy by how often you’re resting your eyes while he talks, trying so hard to pay attention still. he takes pity and says he’s really tired so he’s going to try to sleep and you just hum an okay g’night stevie, that makes his heart ache and you’re pretty much snoozing immediately. he stays facing you, if you were to wake up right now he worries he might look like a creep just staring at you but he thinks this is his new favorite version of you he’s seen. the vulnerable position of just sleeping next to him, he stays awake a little while longer and he finds that he really really likes you, like really. and he’s going to do something about it in the morning, it’s final he has to or might go crazy. maybe he scoots a bit closer, before dozing off completely. maybe he even presses a kiss to your forehead. all you know is that when you wake up, you’re tucked into his chest, your legs are tangled together and you’ve never slept better.
