I've been postin' a lot about Pepper recently, but I realized most of y'all don't rly know much about her. So here's some basic information and a few facts!

Pepper Facts:

Pepper Bianca Jackson was born to Karla Bianchi and Johann Jaeckel on April 28th, 1998. (Her dad changed his name from Johann Jaeckel to John Jackson in the 90's)

She's half-Italian and half-German, with the Italian coming from her mother's side, and the German from her father's side. Her German family is Jewish, and her Italian family is Catholic.

She struggled with her identity in her late teens, and decided to do HRT, transitioning from male to female; after which, she came to at last be happy with her own body.

She picked Bianca as her middle name because it's a cute name, and so that her initials could be PBJ :3

She's an avid gamer, and she cites video games as what helped her egg crack and made her realize that she's trans.

She loves music of all kinds, especially rock n roll from anywhere in between the 1970's and now.

Being both Jewish and Catholic, her family celebrates both Hanukkah and Christmas. As of recently, she's spent most Decembers observing all winter holidays, Festivus included.

Pepper is a pacifist, and does not condone violence... unless it's against terrible people like fascists, Nazis, transphobes, et cetera... in which case she says it's totally okay.

things that I overlooked in PJO the first time / small, funny things I noticed during my reread

Part 3: The Titan's Curse

The truth was I was kind of disappointed to hear that she liked her new school so much. It was the first time she'd gone to school in New York. I'd been hoping to see her more often.

I tried to concentrate on little things, like the crepe-paper streamers and the punch bowl - anything but that fact that Annabeth was taller than me, and my hands were sweaty and probably gross, and I kept stepping on her toes.

"The General?" I asked. Then I realised I'd said it in a French accent. "I mean... who's the General?" I want this part to be in the show

"Sweet! Let's go! [to CHB]" said Nico. this breaks my heart. he was so excited in this book

Tyson thought Annabeth was just about the coolest thing since peanut butter (and he seriously loved peanut butter).

I'm just imagining the rest of the campers not bothering to go on quests cause it's always the same few demigods and they don't care, they're just chilling safe at CHB while Percy and Annabeth do their things

With a shiver, I realised that five hundred or a thousand years from now, Bianca di Angelo would look exactly the same as she did today. She might be having a conversation like this with some other half blood long after I was dead but Bianca would still look twelve years old. ouch

When she smiled at me, just for a moment she looked a little like Annabeth. I know everyone talks about this part but I can't help but bring it up again, they are so cute

And second, what's up with tragic!" little does he know. also, Percy is so incredibly insightful in this book but he's also so jealous of Annabeth and Luke and so upset about the idea of her joining the hunters yet still can't figure out that he likes her

"How do you know all that?" "Annabeth," I said. "She liked architecture." I cannot explain how much this little bit means to me.

The girl I'd just tried to slice in half yelped and dropped her Kleenex. "Oh my god." she shouted. "Do you always kill people when they blow their nose?" Rachel's here!!! I love her

Five minutes later, Zoe had me outfitted in a ragged flannel shirt and jeans three sizes too big, bright red sneakers, and a floppy rainbow hat. someone draw this and tag me. what an outfit

Suddenly it occurred to me: this had happened to her before. She had been cornered on Half-Blood Hill. She'd willingly given her life for her friends. But this time, she couldn't save us. How could I let that happen to her? he is the most empathetic, wholesome guy, I love Percy

"Can't this go any faster?" Thalia demanded. Zoe glared at her. "I cannot control traffic." You both sound like my mother." I said. "Shut up!" they said in unison. I kind of wish we got more Thalia and Zoe interactions... they would've made such a great enemies to lovers dynamic, if Zoe didn't die

"Get away from my daughter!" Dr Chase called down, and his machine gun burst to life, peppering the ground with bullet holes and startling the whole group of monsters into scattering. "Dad?" yelled Annabeth in disbelief.

Grover went off with his satyr friends to spread the word about our strange encounter with the magic of Pan. Within an hour, the satyrs were all running around agitated, asking where the nearest espresso bar was.

"No," I said. "I choose the prophecy. It will be about me." "Why are you saying that?" she cried. "You want to be responsible for the whole world?" It was the last thing I wanted, but I didn't say that. I knew I had to step up and claim it. "I can't let Nico be in any more danger." I said. might I remind you this boy is 13/14 and has the whole world on his shoulders (both literally at some point and figuratively)

I feel like these are just getting longer and longer but again, I will be back for part 4!

You all know I have WIPs; too many of them. Below are sneak peeks of coming attractions. Many are still in draft stages and subject to changes before being posted.

 Back Roads:

The last item to be cleared was the late King’s personal safe, which Bastien opened for them; it was protocol that only the monarch and the head of the King’s guard knew the combination. None of the friends knew what to expect, but nothing seemed untoward: certificates of marriage to his three Queens; a petition to declare his first Queen presumed dead; Queen Eleanor’s death certificate.

A plain wooden box simply labeled “The Walkers.” Everyone looked at the other, curious what was inside. Liam wordlessly handed the box to Drake, who looked suspiciously at the strongbox before lifting its lid.

Everything was neatly compartmentalized: The Cordonian Cross, awarded to Jackson Walker posthumously for “acts of the greatest heroism or for most conspicuous courage in circumstance of extreme danger.”  The letter and certificate which had accompanied the Cross had been given to Savannah.

A copy of the Widowers and Children agreement, signed by Bianca; a copy of Jackson’s life insurance and pension plan. Drake and Savannah were beneficiaries to both with payments to begin when their stipend from the Crown ended. And a sealed envelope with Drake’s name written on it.

“Open it!” Olivia urged impatiently.

Liam handed him a letter opener, and Drake sliced the envelope open. His eyes quickly scanned the letter, one section leaping out at him:

In honor of his father’s selfless act of heroism, it is hereby decreed that Drake Walker shall be named a Knight of Cordonia and accorded the title of Sir Drake J. Walker, and afforded all the privileges of the Crown and Palace, with the exception that he shall retain commoner status when it comes the hierarchy of the Throne.

His sister, Savannah J. Walker, shall be named a Dame of Cordonia and afforded all the privileges of the Crown and Palace, with the exception that she shall retain commoner status when it comes the hierarchy of the Throne.

Maxwell, who was reading over Drake’s shoulder, let out a low whistle. “Wow … Drake, you’re … noble!”

Sister Someone, Chapter 3—Sunday, Bloody Sunday:

Harper breathed in Ethan’s scent: fresh, green, with just the slightest hints of mint and musk. She wanted Ethan to move in with her; it seemed … natural. He was already spending a lot of time there: He had clothes in her closet, and a toothbrush in her bathroom.  Her fingers began a slow walk across Ethan’s chest towards the buttons on his shirt.

Her thoughts were interrupted by the ringing of her phone. With a reluctant sigh, she pulled it from the crevice between their bodies and felt her eyes widen when she recognized the number.

“Who is it?” Ethan asked, seeing the expression on her face.

“Work,” Harper said quickly as she declined the call. “I’ll call them back.”

She tossed her phone aside to pull Ethan to her. When Ethan suggested they go upstairs, Harper told hi to go ahead; she wanted to review some paperwork first. Once she heard Ethan climb the stairs, Harper returned the earlier call.

The steak was seasoned and laying on a bed of onions, peppers, and bacon when her phone vibrated. Harper answered tersely. “What?”

He caller gave a low chuckle. “And a good morning to you, Dr. Emery. Merely calling to confirm you’ll be joining my fiancée and I for brunch later today.”

Harper exhaled a low breath. “Do I have a choice?”

“There’s always a choice. This isn’t extortion.”

Harper ground her teeth. “I’ll be there,” she gritted out.

The caller’s tone was pleased. “Excellent! Lucy and I will meet you at Sonsie at 11:30. Bring Dr. Ramsey if you’re so inclined. I’m certain he and Lucy would love to catch up.”

The call disconnected.

Twenty minutes later, when Ethan entered the kitchen, Harper told him her plans for the day: going into the hospital and spending the afternoon with her niece, Aurora.

How I Met Your Wife:

One week before the wedding, Liam and Riley were having lunch at the restaurant when they began to bicker. Yu smirked to herself as the bickering progressed to a full-blown argument. The waitress was fond of both Liam and Riley; their love for each other was both evident and contagious, and she thanked Kei every day for seeing what she had not. The two cared, not only for each other, but for all Cordonia.

“YU!” Riley yelled.

Yu approached the table. “What is wrong, my dumplings?” she asked in a soothing voice, her hands lightly touching their shoulders.

“Sit down,” Riley patted the seat next to her.

Liam’s eyes were narrowed. “Don’t you DARE, Riley Brooks!”

Riley arched an eyebrow and leaned into Yu, pressing dark cherry painted lips against the waitress’. Liam scraped his chair back as he hurried around the table to break the kiss. Yu was stunned, but curious.

Good lip service indeed.

Before she could slip her tongue past the Duchess’ closed lips, she felt Liam’s hand on her shoulder, trying to pull the women apart. Instinctively, Yu’s hand squeezed the King’s ass.

She and Riley would not share tongue until the couple returned to the restaurant two months later, after surviving multiple assassination attempts, a wedding, a kidnapping, and a honeymoon.

The Queen’s Friendship:

Riley was chatting with Maxwell in the Delegates Dining Room at the UN, waiting for the gala to begin. Liam was at the head of the room, arm in arm with Madeleine. His eyes spotted Riley and he winked. Riley rolled hers and turned her back to him.

“Blossom, don’t act like this! You know he’s trying,” Maxwell begged.

“WE’RE trying! He’s kissing his fiancée,” Riley retorted. Her eyes scanned the room. “Oh, look … there’s Drake,” she stated before walking away from Maxwell.

Riley had no idea if it was Drake or not, she just wanted away. From Liam, Madeleine, Maxwell … Cordonia. Riley figured now was the time to make the break. She was back home in New York City. She still had her apartment, for the next month at least. She passed by elegantly dressed tables and came upon an hors d'oeuvres station; she paused to pile a tiny plate with even tinier bits of food when she heard her name.

“Riley Brooks?”

She turned, a disinterested expression on her face until she saw who it was. Riley hurriedly set her plate on the edge of the buffet table before wrapping her arms around Veronica.

“OH MY GOD, Ronnie! What are you doing here?” Riley shrieked.

Veronica hugged her old friend tightly. “It’s so good to see you!” The women separated. “You look great, girl! I’m one of the event planners, why are you here?”

Riley shrugged. “I’m with the band.”

Veronica shook her head in disbelief. “How did you end up with royalty?”

“I answered an ad to be a waitress.”

Paper Cut:

The two men moved in the kitchen quietly. It was Friday: refrigerator clean-out day. It was a ritual they had established when they first moved in together. When the tossing of old, expired, and smelly items meant they were making room for new groceries on Saturday mornings. When there had been hand holding, price comparisons, fresh produce from Farmer’s Markets and fresh cuts of meat wrapped in waxed paper.

When they were together and in love. Or what they thought was love.

Liam looked dubiously at the bottle of ranch dressing; he tried to remember when they first bought it, but memory failed him. He wanted to say the dressing been in the fridge when they moved in. He shook the bottle before uncapping it; a very distinct vinegary scent wafted from the container.

Liam poured some into a spoon he grabbed from the sink. The white creamy mixture was lumpy and slightly discolored. Grant Emerson turned from the trashcan, his nose wrinkled. “What the hell?”

“Trying to see if it’s still good,” Liam muttered.

“It’s expired. It went bad a long time ago.”

Liam wondered if Grant was talking about the salad dressing or them.

Grant huffed as Liam continued to inspect the product. “It’s practically curdling and smells to the heavens, Li! Toss it!”

“It’s garden herb. Maybe …”

He never finished speaking; Grant grabbed the spoon and the bottle, tossing both in the trash.

“It’s done.” He shook his head and continued to pull items from the fridge.

He waits until her car is out of sight before heading back into the house. He sits back down in his chair before looking at a picture of him and Eleanor on the table next to him.

“I really wish you here to help, El.” A single tear falls down his cheek before he wipes it away.

*          * “Maybe you should just go by yourself. He probably only said I could come so you wouldn’t think he was an awful person.” Drake rubs the back of his neck, regretting his decision.

“Or he wants a chance to make amends with his son. I really think you should hear what he has to say.” Riley gives her husband a smile; she knows this won’t be easy, but she does think it’s important for them to talk.

“I just don’t know, RI. I mean when I confronted him weeks ago, he told me to leave and then confided in a complete stranger.” He flops down on the couch.

“You grew up with your dad being your hero, Drake. Seeing you made him realize that that façade was shattered.” She wraps her arms around his shoulders from behind as she rests her chin on his shoulder, “How would you feel if our baby learned you weren’t the hero they always saw you as?”

Drake knows his wife is making valid points, but it’s not as easy for him as it is for her to accept Jackson’s word. He taught Drake that a man stood behind what he said and how he acted, yet Jackson seemed to have gone back on everything he taught Drake.

“Guess it couldn’t hurt to hear what he has to say.”

“If it gets too much, we can leave. And I’ll be beside you the whole time!” She peppers his cheek and neck with kisses before letting him go, “Let’s go!”

Drake stands up and watches his wife buzz around the room, gathering her purse and sweater before bolting out the door. He didn’t understand why she was so excited about going. He grabs his keys off the holder by the door before locking up and walking to his truck where she’s waiting to get in.

It’s a few moments into the drive before Riley squeals, causing Drake to panic. He looks at her and she giggles.

“According to this baby app, our baby is the size of an apple.”

Drake takes a deep breath, “Maybe save the squeals for when I’m at a red light or parked next time?”

She turns red, “I’m sorry.”

He grabs her hand, squeezes it before laughing, “An apple, eh? Like a Cordonian Ruby?”

“I’ll never understand y’alls love for apples.”

“Speaking of Cordonia, Liam is planning a trip down here.”

“What!” She squeals again, “Liam’s coming!”

Even though Riley initially flew to Cordonia for Liam’s social season, it was clear from the beginning that Drake and Riley were destined to be together. Liam wasn’t blind to how her and Drake looked at each other, so he didn’t make it awkward or continue to try to pursue her. He had given them his blessing, not that they needed it, but Riley wanted it. She refused to tear Drake and Liam apart, refused to be the woman who destroyed a childhood long friendship.

However, that didn’t stop her from befriending Liam and making him her best friend just as Maxwell had made her him. She stuck by his side through the whole social season and helped him gain the courage to stand up to tradition by not settling for a loveless marriage.

Drake sees Jackson sitting on the porch, waiting for them as they pull up into the driveway.

“It’s going to be okay, I promise.” Riley grabs Drake’s hand. She gives him her best smile, the one he fell in love with all those years ago.

He takes a deep breath, “Okay, let’s go.”

They slowly make their way up the walkway as Jackson comes down and greets them midway.

“Good morning. I have a pot of coffee ready, if you’d like some.” Jackson says, kicking some dirt on the ground.

“Drake loves coffee, I’m sure he’d like one, right Drake?” Riley gently nudges his arm.

“Oh, uh, yeah sure.”

The three of them all walk inside the house; Drake and Riley take a seat at the kitchen table as Jackson pours him and Drake a cup.

“There’s sugar on the table and I have creamer in the fridge.”

“I drink it black.” Riley cuts her eyes at him and he adds, “But thank you.”

“Of course. I prefer a bit of creamer, myself.” Jackson sits down across from Drake and Riley. They all sat in a semi-awkward silence, not sure exactly how to start things. It’s not until Riley’s sudden dash out of the kitchen that either say anything.

“Is everything okay?” He looks at Drake with confusion.

“Is that Hazelnut creamer?”

“How’d you know?”

Drake chuckles, “It’s one of Ri’s food aversions.”

“Aver…That means she’s…” Jackson pauses, waiting for his son to speak up.

“Pregnant, yes. Just a little bit into her second trimester.” Drake smiles.

“You’re gonna be a grandpa!” Riley exclaims, walking back into the kitchen, having heard the end of their conversation.

“Wow. Congratulations.” Jackson says, smiling at the couple in front of him.

Drake wants to be happy to share this moment with Jackson, for his child to have a grandfather. “Before we start handing out grandparent titles, I think we need to talk first.”

“Drake!” Riley opposes, cutting him a look; telling him to play nice.

“No no, I understand where he’s coming from.” Jackson says.

For the next hour, Jackson catches Drake up on everything he had told Riley not too long ago. When he told Riley it was effortless almost, he knew regardless of what she ended up thinking, it wouldn’t really affect him. He had no risk in that exchange but he felt a lump in his throat each time he swallowed while repeated it all to his son.

Drake takes in everything his father tells him. How the picture of love at first sight, a happy marriage between his parents, the type of love he strived for; was all a bunch of lies. He listened to how his father started an innocent friendship that ended up in two broken families, to how his once hero became nothing but a stranger in front of him.

“And know you know everything I’ve told Riley.”

Drake just stares at Jackson, he’s not sure what more he could be told. What Jackson could tell him to make him understand why they did what they did, why they left him, Liam and Savannah. Drake hadn’t even called Savannah to tell her yet; he knew he had to, but he just didn’t know how to.

“Are you okay, hun?” Riley squeeze Drake’s hand.

“Yeah. So, what happened at this ball?” Drake looks at Jackson; part of him not caring, the other part of him just wanting to learn the truth.

The next day at the palace, everything is a whirlwind. Floral arrangements, name cards and fairy lights are being carried through the palace halls. Jackson and Timothy are watching as mayhem fills the palace.

“Your wife excited about tonight?” Timothy asks, nudging Jackson.

He knew he was talking about the fact the couple had been invited to the ball by Queen Eleanor herself and that they had been given a reserved suite. Bianca has been talking about the ordeal for days. Even calling her sister and comparing it to Disney World.

“It’s all she can talk about.”

“What about you?”

“It might be weird not being off to the side and being on high alert.”

“That’s not what I meant.” He glances around before lowering his voice, “About having both Eleanor and Bianca together. Since you have feelings for…”

Jackson interrupts him, “Don’t even finish that false statement.”

As he strides through the halls, he gets lost in thought: I can’t believe he thinks something so absurd. Only a fool would fall for a Queen, especially someone so much lower in station. What could someone like me even give a woman like her.

The rest of the day is uneventful, especially with Timothy keeping his distance. It’s not until he’s about to leave that he runs into Queen Eleanor.

“Jackson!” She practically squeals before realizing people could hear, “Office Walker.”

“Your Majesty,” he bows.

“Are you looking forward to the festivities?”

“Bianca hasn’t stopped talking about it since the invitation arrived.”

“I’m glad, but I asked if you were.”

“Oh! It will be different for sure, but it will be interesting to see how the other side lives.”

She playfully bumps his shoulder before smiling, “Does Bianca have a dress? I could have some brought to your suite.”

“That’s not needed. I’m sure she will have something.”

“Well, do let me know. I know what it’s like to feel like an outsider.” She gives him a faint smile.

“Ellie, there you are.” The masculine voice fills the air around them.

“Your Majesty.” Jackson goes to bow.

“No need for that Jackson. This meeting is rather casual.”

“Constantine,” Eleanor nods.

“One of the decorators is looking for you, dear.” He tells his wife.

“Constantine. Jackson. If you’ll excuse me.” Eleanor smiles before taking her leave.

“I take it all the security needs are handled since you’ll be off duty.”

“Yes, sir, but I’ll duck out if needed.”

“I expect no less, but I do hope you try to enjoy yourself. I believe all the children will be staying over. Drake and Savannah are welcome to join.”

“I appreciate that, sir.” Jackson says.

By the time the ball begins, the palace has been completely transformed. Lights, flowers, decorations have truly changed the once cold and stoic palace into a lively and comfortable setting.

Bianca’s eyes were as large as a kid’s on Christmas; trying to take in as much as she could. She’d been in parts of the palace before but never seen it like this.

“Mrs. Walker?”

She turns around to see a maid smile at her.

“Yes?”

“Please follow me ma’am.”

Bianca looks at Jackson who smiles, “Go on, no one here bites.”

She’s then escorted to one of the spare rooms typically reserved for nobles staying from abroad. Her eyes light up once again when she sees several beautiful ballgowns and accessories throughout the room.

“Jackson said you’d have a gown, but I still thought I’d offer.”

Bianca turns around and immediately drops into a curtesy, “Queen Eleanor!”

Eleanor bites back a smile, “No need for all that. It’s nice to meet you Mrs. Walker.”

“Bianca is fine, ma’am.”

“Bianca it is then.” She walks closer to Bianca, “I had some gowns and such brought in here for you to look at. I won’t be offended if you don’t choose any, so please don’t fret.”

“Why’d you do all of this for me?” Bianca looks at the gowns, she’s never seen such dresses before and refuses to even think of what they must’ve cost.

“Let’s just say that I know firsthand what it’s like to attend the ball in a gown people didn’t find good enough.” Bianca sees the sad smile on Eleanor’s face before looking at her own gown.

Up until this moment, Bianca hadn’t realized that she never saw Queen Eleanor as a person. She was always this high-powered entity to her, but now she saw that she wasn’t that much different than her. She couldn’t even imagine how lonely Eleanor must feel being her and not really having friends. Friendships within nobility were rare, Jackson had told her before, they lasted long enough for each party to get something they wanted from the other.

“Which would you pick out for me, Queen Eleanor?”

Eleanor smiles, “I think you’d look lovely in this one.”

Bianca walks down the hall, trying to remember which way she came from. Timothy quickly sees her and walks towards her.

“Need any assistance?”

“Timothy, oh thank heavens. I’m trying to find Jackson.”

“The ballroom is this way, I’ll escort you.” Timothy motions for her to continue walking, “That’s a lovely gown.”

“Thank you. Queen Eleanor lent it to me for the night. She’s very sweet.”

Timothy’s eyes widen, “Yes, she is.”

They didn’t say much of anything else as they walked through the empty halls towards the ballroom. Bianca immediately saw Jackson and parted ways with Timothy.

“Jack!” She called out as he appeared to be looking for her.

“Bianca. Wow.” Jackson’s jaw dropped. His wife stood in front of him wearing a completely different gown than she had arrived in. She had originally chosen to wear an ill-fitting dress that she had for years that she’d worn to Tonya and Cash’s wedding a few years ago. Yet here she was in a pale-yellow strapless dress that had white appliqué flowers covering the bodice and flowing down onto part of the skirt. It hugged her sides which showed off her figure more than most clothes she wore and the rhinestone studded belt insinuated her waist.

Bianca’s face turns red as her husband stares at her.

“Where did you get that gown?” He pulls her to his side and kisses her temple.

“Queen Eleanor lent it to me. Actually, she picked it out as well.”

“The Queen does have excellent taste.”

The couple walk into the ballroom just before the King and Queen are announced. Bianca feels herself attempting to cover her shoulders; feeling slightly exposed as they made their way through the room.

“Cold?” Jackson asks.

“Just feeling a bit uncomfortable.”

“Don’t be. You look beautiful.”

As they reached their table, they stood as Constantine and Eleanor were announced and entered the room. Constantine wore his typical regale attire while his wife wore the lavender colored gown Jackson had seen just a week prior. Her hair was down and curled which was usual because typically noble women wore their hair up to events that lasted long hours.

Bianca looks up to whisper something to her husband but stops when she sees him practically drooling. Immediately the confidence his earlier words had given her, crumbled; feeling herself pale in comparison to the Queen.

Red heart ask + Pepper!!

Hmm, okay! One of Pepper's best memories would be… definitely coming out as trans to her family. She wasn't expectin' an incredibly positive reaction, at least not from her mother's side of the family, what with them havin' been raised in a traditional Catholic background.

Yet both sides of her family embraced her new identity, agreeing that life's too short to have hate in your heart, especially for people you know so little about. Everyone in the Bianchi-Jaeckel-Jackson clan had had their own experiences with out and proud members of the LGBTQ+ community, especially within the family. Pepper's paternal cousin Elisabeth (Jaeckel) had recently come out as lesbian, and her maternal cousin Andrea (Bruno) was also trans.

Both sets of grandparents had moved to the U.S. and lived in an age where homosexual men were referred to as "friends of Dorothy," so much of this change was very new to them, but they were willing to learn.

Thus, Pepper started HRT, and a new chapter of her life had begun.

Sunday Six: 1/13/19 Interlude- Cordonia

The article came out the morning of the Beaumont Bash, the last social event of the season, and the night that Prince Liam would announce who he had chosen to be the future Queen of Cordonia. Bastien woke to the news alerts on his phone, buzzing on the bedside table of his guestroom in Ramsford. Reluctantly he left the dream- it was so rare that he dreamed of her anymore, his subconscious knowing better than to let her in, knowing how hard it always was to leave her behind and bring himself back to reality. With everything that had been happening, now was not the time for distractions or heartache. He blinked her copper hair and blue eyes from his mind as he cleared his throat and sat up, reaching for his phone. He ran a hand over his face, dragging it across the salt and pepper stubble that covered his chin, exhaling as he prepared himself for today's headline. Nothing could have prepared him for what he read. His smokey gray eyes went wide and he cursed under his breath. It was not something the King had ever mentioned to him, and yet he had no doubt in his mind that it was true.

King Constantine’s Illigitamate Daughter Comes Forth: Says no Rhys Will Wear the Crown Again. His blood tingled in his veins as he read an interview with a woman known as Erika Manderly, a woman claiming to be King Constantine's daughter, conceived during his own social season. Bastien knew the way that some of the noble men took advantage of the fact that they had so many suitors competing for their hand, how some of them sought to sleep with each woman before making their choice. He didn't doubt that Constantine could have been one of those men. The article went on to highlight other ways in which the tradition of suitors presenting themselves at court had been taken advantage of: women being passed around to friends of the eligible bachelor, monies being spent to entertain, dress, feed, transport and otherwise provide extravagant experiences for the suitors, unfair favoritism based on attraction and not what might be best for the country. Quotes from this Erika were peppered throughout, lines about how she had tried to seek out a relationship with her father, how she wanted to meet her brothers- how the King had turned her down, cruelly, in her words.

The interview went on to ask why she had chosen now to come forth. Why, after all the years of silence, working as a maid in the various estates throughout the country- Applewood, most recently, and Bastien cursed to himself again realizing that she was the maid his background check never came in on- why she would suddenly come out now with the truth. Bastien felt it all click as he read her answer. “Because now is the right time. Now, there is someone that I can stand behind, someone that all of Cordonia can stand behind. Someone who will bring justice back to Cordonia, will bring an end to the perversion of its traditions, will listen to the commoners and the cooks, the maids and drivers and the bastard daughters. Now, Anton Severus has returned to Cordonia, and No Rhys will wear the crown again.”

Anton Severus. He knew that name. The Severus family, along with the Nevrakis' had been responsible for the last rebellion. They'd joined with the Sons of Earth in an attempt to overthrow the Rhys dynasty. All three families had been integral in the foundation of Cordonia as a country, but the Rhys line has been ruling since the first days. Occasionally the other two would rise up and try to take what they thought was theirs, however the Rhys line had always prevailed. Not without casualty, not without sacrifice. Bastien remembered the way the last rebellion had ended, with Eamon Krass, leader of the SoE taking Jackson's life, with Bastien taking Eamon's son Avery's life, the King and princes escaping, the queen, Liam's mother not being so lucky. Wait. Bastien sat up, dropping his phone as a cold realizition crept into the back of his mind. He concentrated hard on the face of the young Avery Krass, the first man he'd ever had to kill, reconstructing the way his eyes were set, the shape of his nose and the color of his hair. It was unmistakable. Avery, in his memory, looked just like Micah. Micah Sarks. He rearranged the letters in his mind. Sarks. Krass. Micah was Avery's brother...Eamon's other son. Eamon had never been caught. Some of the Severus line had gotten away. The loose ends of the last rebellion were coming for their throats.

Bastien returned his eyes to the article, noticing that there were pictures included- pictures proving Erika's claims that the season was being manipulated. There was the picture of Drake and Claire at his cabin, the one that had been placed in the box, and below it, an even more disturbing one- the two of them sitting on his front step, the box in his hand. Bastien felt his nostrils flare as he realized someone had been there the whole time, watching them panic, playing games. He realized then that they'd fallen right into their trap. The whole thing with Alex was a distraction ploy. Anton was letting his twisted accomplice draw their attention while he set other gears in motion...reaching out to Krass, recruiting Micah and Erika...recruiting the reporter who'd been running the negative articles all season...Bastien felt his mind itching to connect all the dots. Seven Devils, they were calling themselves. Anton Severus, Alex Miltner, Eamon Krass, Micah Krass, Erika Manderly- he glanced down at the article to read the reporter's name- Will Ogden...that was six. There was still someone out there, someone he was missing. His eyes returned to the article, to the last few pictures that depicted what Erika referred to as “favoritism due to attraction”: Liam and Lady Kiara, holding hands, leaning close, and, in the last one, sharing an intimate kiss through the window of Liam's private study at Applewood. Claire and Drake weren't the only ones being watched.

Bastien bolted from his bed, scrambling to get himself ready. He dressed quickly, forgoing a shower. His fingers deftly fastened his cuff links, routinely tied his tie and pulled his jacket over the taught muscles of his shoulders and back. The phone buzzed again and again as more news outlets picked up on the article, and members of the King's Guard started waking up to what he'd just read. He left his room, heading to the study that they'd set up as a security base for their stay, knowing that it was all going to come down to tonight. The article was more than an expose. It was a warning- a threat and a promise. No Rhys will wear the crown again. Those words echoed in his mind. He had to ensure Liam's safety. He had to ensure that these devils were caught. He had to ensure that he hadn't thrown his chances with Annabelle away to stay and protect the Rhys who would wear the crown next, and he had to ensure that Jackson's son wouldn't die the way he did, that Claire wouldn't have to endure what Bianca had. The weight of the day settled heavy on his shoulders, and the sun hadn't even begun to rise.

Lazari Swann was her name. She had another one that was a few seconds older, but she didn't know about it for over a decade. Of course, she had many others over the years, thanks to fake I.D.s, or being reborn into a completely different family. Lazari is just what she went by most of the time, so Lazari was her name.

Each new life made her more powerful, but that wasn't why she did it.

Things just got boring every now and then.

But now, she is an Avenger, which has never happened before. She has a crush on a murderer. Nothing new. And she is hiding her true self from her new family. Been there, done that.

She wants to settle down. That was new.

But as far as her new team is aware, she is an innocent boy named Peter Parker. Oh please.

Prometheus I

Enzo was waiting excitedly in the hangar. They’d gotten word that Thalia was on her way home with some people she wanted him to meet. He didn’t know who exactly, but he was eager to find out.

“You have been in here for hours!” James called down at him from the overhead scaffolding. “How are you not bored?”

“I’m excited. What if they’re really cool?” Enzo smiled, rocking back and forth on his heels. James rolled his eyes and smiled-Enzo was a piece of work.

After nearly another hour the hangar doors creaked open sending sharp rays of sunlight leaking in. Enzo let out a cheer of excitement, jumping up and down before running to greet the jet. The ramp lowered slowly, and it had barely completed its decent before Enzo was sprinting inside of it.

James watched expectantly until Thalia emerged holding Enzo in a bear hug. Her laugh was loud and boisterous much to his amusement, and Enzo was already rattling off series’ of questions. “If it isn’t the warrior herself, Thalia Odin.”

“Hello James!” Tucking Enzo under one arm Thalia waved happily at the older boy. “You look wonderful!”

“You too,” James snorted. Thalia had slimmed slightly, and she looked like she was made purely of lithe muscle. He watched in amazement as a few others hesitantly exited the jet, but they looked out of sorts. An odd group of people that James wouldn’t have pegged as Asgardians.

“Tell me everything,” Enzo insisted, tugging on his cousin’s arm, “all the details.”

“So, this is your youngest cousin?” Enzo looked over at a tan skinned woman who watched him with an expression of amusement. “Nothing like his father that’s for sure.”

“I like to think I have his better qualities,” Enzo informed her with a sly smirk.

“I love him. He’s mine. Sif, can I keep him?” Valkyrie ruffled Enzo’s hair affectionately. “Sif?”

James glanced over his shoulder to see Thor standing frozen in place with his eyes wide, mouth open, and eyebrows arched in disbelief. “Uh...you good?”

“Oh, oh yeah.” Thalia mumbled, “maybe should have warned dad about us coming by.”

“Hey uncle! Look at this!” Enzo cluelessly gestured to everyone. “It’s so cool! There’s so many of us.”

“Yes...I-well, I can see that.” Thor forced a smile. James gave Thalia a questioning look, and she made it clear now was not the appropriate time to explain. “For now, maybe we should get everyone settled.”

“Good idea.” Enzo decided as he ran off to find rooms for the visitors.

Alex was stuck on the treadmill for her physical testing of the month. Wires hung all over like a web, suction cups kept them in place, a mask measured oxygen intake, it also measured carbon output, a heart monitor was strapped to her chest, and she was determined to beat her old records.

“Bump it,” Alex breathed. One of the on hand doctors pushed the speed button bringing it down to 4:30 mile pace. She matched the acceleration with a bit of effort, trying to keep her arm swing normal, and her knee drive high.

Everything was going great until the Med Bay doors slid open. In an instant Alex ripped off all monitoring devices, wires, and timers to greet her friends. Sprinting to the entrance Alex tackled Nathaniel and Piper in a hug.

“Nice to see you too,” Nathaniel laughed.

“I didn’t know you guys were coming back.” Alex smiled giddily like a little kid.

“Turns out we had the same flight home,” Piper laughed, “I feel a bit bad for the flight attendants.”

“How is everything? What’s been going on?” Nathaniel held up a polite hand before Alex could ask anymore questions.

“I will tell you everything once I unpack,” Nathaniel gave the sweaty girl a quick hug before racing off to his long missed room.

“Never have I seen him run so fast,” Piper teased, watching him go.

“Only for doughnuts and juice.” Alex remarked. Both girls laughed and Piper slung an arm around her friend. “So, did you sort things out?”

“About what?” Piper asked in confusion.

“You know, you and Gen.” Alex shrugged.

“Oh, yeah...that.” Piper sucked in a sharp breath. “Not exactly. I think we both kind of pretended it didn’t happen.”

“Piper Stark!” Alex smacked her friend’s arm causing the other girl to wince. “You did not.”

“Well I didn’t know what to say,” Piper admitted, her cheeks turning a faint pink, “I mean it’s not like I can just say ‘thanks, that was great. See you at school.’”

“Well of course you can’t say that.” Alex chuckled. “Oh Piper, how I’ve missed your unfortunate antics and life crises.”

“Don’t patronize me you little shit,” Piper snorted, only to be playfully shoved in return.

The place was abuzz with excitement. Penny and Enzo were doing their best to get stories out of everyone. They took an immediate liking to Valkyrie and her theatrics. Chloe was secretly trying to scribble all of it down into one of her notebooks.

Arthur was more intrigued by Piper’s travels. He liked learning about other cultures and he’d never been able to experience much of them on his own. Not to mention it seemed like Piper had some pretty crazy adventures to share.

“Yeah, so apparently I have a niece,” Nathaniel sighed, rubbing the back of his neck.

“Awe, come here.” Nat tugged him into a hug and kissed the top of his head. “You’ve got family here too, don’t worry too much about it.”

“I know,” Nathaniel nodded and smiled. Steve gave him a few words of wisdom before James came to tackle his long time friend. “Hey, dude. What’s up?”

“Nothing much,” James grinned, “you look tired as hell.”

“Jet lag.” Nathaniel winced.

“I bet.” James nodded.

Fox watched from the shadows like usual. She didn’t know any of them really, hadn’t bothered to get to know them, and when she had interacted with the group it’d been as an enemy. Still, it was good to see such excitement. It livened up the sulking place a bit, but she was sad. She’d never had that sort of reunion with any of her friends and family.

“Hey, I got snacks. You want any?” Enzo asked, with a cheese stick stuffed in one cheek. He held up a platter of assorted packages.

“I’m good, thank you though.” Fox pressed her lips into a thin line.

“No problem.” Enzo smiled and bounded off.

Around lunchtime Bucky called in with good news. He and Bianca were heading back home. It was strange seeing Bianca so lively and involved with the festivities, but Bucky said their mission had been fruitful.

Bianca set out a series of folders on the coffee table. With careful hands she rearranged the contents, and with a satisfied nod she stepped back. “That’s my mother right there.”

Bianca pointed enthusiastically at a picture. The woman was charming with straight brown hair the color of damp soil, her smile reached her eyes, and she looked young and full of life.

“She’s so pretty,” Nathaniel smiled. “Hang on, look at me.”

Bianca did as she was told, and the older boy studied her face with an intense scrutiny. “What?”

“You have her nose.” Nathaniel decided.

“And those glorious eyebrows,” Penny added.

“You think so?”

“Totally,” James nodded, “what’s her name?”

“Olivia Jackson,” Bianca said the name with a tone of affection. “She’s incredible. She used to renovate homes in places like Mexico for poor families.”

“How does a generous person like her end up with such bad people?” Alex asked sadly.

“She has a friend, she’s no longer alive I’ve been told-I suspect foul play- but her friend was having trouble conceiving. My mother offered to help, but...it wasn’t what she thought. At least the surrogate aspect of it. M.A.D used her contacts as a ploy.” Bianca chewed anxiously on her bottom lip.

“I can’t believe it,” Piper’s eyes looked sadly at Bianca, “why do good people get screwed over?”

“I don’t know, but before she died she wrote this.” Bianca gingerly picked up a piece of paper. A careful cursive was scrawled across the lines. “I hope one day you learn the truth about all of this. About me, about yourself, and I hope you do not hate me. Whatever the circumstances, no matter how I felt at the time, you’re still mine. It’s hard not to get attached to something you’ve loved and waited to hold for months. While this isn’t what I planned, or had in mind, I am your mother. Please, don’t lose your humanity to these people. You’re far too precious. Love, Mom.”

“That’s amazing Bianca,” Alex whispered giving the girl’s shoulder a gentle squeeze, “she’d be more than proud of you.”

“I hope so,” Bianca smiled.

The group of kids spent the rest of the evening looking through the documents with Bianca. Occasionally, Bucky joined in and explained a riveting detail of their journey.

From the parents’ perspective it was nice to see them all invested in one another. So caring, kind, and loved. They really were a small family in and of itself.

A buzz from Tony’s phone caught his attention. “Well I’ll be damned, if this day isn’t any luckier already.”

“What is it?” Pepper frowned, peeking over his shoulder.

“Little Scouty is on his way home.” Tony laughed. “Look at Wanda. What a dork.”

“Let me see!” Steve begged. Sure enough Wanda had taken a picture of Scout and Vision passed out in the rental car. “Awe.”

“He’s going to be mad when he realizes he wrinkled his book pages,” Nat noted slyly.

“We cross that bridge when we get there!” Tony scoffed in fake irritation.

While the kids had their own reunion the parents did as well. Wanda-the baby of the group-was greeted excitedly by everyone. Scout, shuffled into the room looking half asleep still, but he was woken up soon after by bone crushing hugs. “Hey guys.”

“The news has been showing clips,” Alex rambled, “sounds like you guys were doing some awesome work.”

“Awesome, maybe.” Scout shrugged, “it’s a bit gruesome if I’m honest. Definitely a reality shock.”

“Yeah, but I couldn’t think of anyone better for the job. I can’t imagine how many people must be thankful for you guys stepping in to help.” James clapped his friend on the shoulder. “It makes me proud.”

“Someone is awfully sappy today,” Piper joked, “good to see you Maximoff.”

“Likewise, Stark.” Scout nodded, “who else has come home?”

James patiently explained everything he’d learned in an attempt to get Scout up to speed. The boy took everything in with ease and shifted through it with little effort at all. “Did you get all that?”

“Yes, of course,” Scout smirked, “did you forget about my wit James?”

“Not a chance!”

Grand entrances were part of the Quill family tradition. Hence the loud music blasting from a ship descending into the hangar with Orion jamming out on the open ramp. “Thunder! Oh wha oh wha oh oh. Thunder!”

“AC/DC!” Piper cheered.

“Not surprised at all.” James laughed, too relaxed to avoid joining in on Piper’s spontaneous dance party. Soon the entire hangar room was full of dancing teenagers, and even Chloe was dancing though Arthur held her hands and made her participate.

“Fireworks!” Orion yelled pressing a button on some sort of hand held remote. Sparklers exploded from the sides of the ship, and he leapt down onto the hangar ground with his arms open as if to say ‘I have arrived’. “Confetti!”

“Oh my god!” Penny laughed hysterically. “I love this man!”

“Ladies and gentlemen I have returned,” Orion took a cocky little bow, flourishing his arms, “the fun can officially begin.”

It only took a sly little wink from Orion to have Scout tackle him in a hug. “It’s good to see you!”

“Like wise!” Orion shouted over the music. “I see the squad is back together?”

“More or less,” Scout nodded. A lull in conversation followed with both boys trying not to stare at one another. “This is really awkward.”

“You think?” Orion laughed.

“Well yeah. That’s why I said it!”

“You dork,” Orion rolled his eyes before grabbing the sides of Scout’s face, “you need to learn to stop thinking.”

“That’s literally imposi-“Orion pressed his lips against Scout’s forcing him to shut up. “-ble. Did you just kiss me?”

“Yeah!” Orion nodded.

Disgusting...do it again.” Scout decided.

“OH MY GOD! YES!” Enzo ran excitedly in place. He dissolved into a yelling mess and told anyone he could that they were kissing. Of course, everyone had already noticed by now. (End of Part I Part one 😂)
