5 Best Examples of Employee Onboarding Programs
Example 1: Pre-Onboarding Communication
The journey into a new role begins long before the first day on the job; it's in the anticipatory period leading up to it where the foundation of the onboarding experience is laid. The effectiveness of your pre-onboarding communication process can significantly influence how seamlessly new hires integrate into their roles and the organization at large.
Imagine the potential of turning the usual pre-first-day jitters into a sense of excitement and preparedness. This can be achieved by regularly connecting with your future employees, giving them a peek into what awaits them.
A series of well-crafted emails, for example, could detail what their first day would look like, introduce them to their new team, provide some fun facts about the organization, or share the company's latest success story.
Moreover, you could leverage employee onboarding software to streamline this communication. An interactive onboarding portal, perhaps, could offer a one-stop solution where new hires can explore their job details, understand their roles, complete preliminary paperwork, and even participate in virtual ice-breaking activities. This could range from a simple quiz about the company to a virtual tour of the office.
By ensuring open channels of communication, you set the stage for a robust onboarding experience. It sends a clear message to your new hires: You are valued, we are prepared for your arrival, and we are eager to help you succeed.
Such a nurturing approach to pre-onboarding communication can significantly reduce first-day anxieties and build a strong foundation for a fruitful relationship between the new hires and the organization.
Example 2: Clear and Comprehensive Role Description
One of the pivotal steps in crafting an effective onboarding process is ensuring that your new hires have a crystal-clear understanding of their roles. It might seem like a basic requirement, yet the lack of a well-defined role description can lead to confusion, misalignment, and even frustration for your new team member.
The goal is to move beyond a conventional job description to a comprehensive understanding of how their role fits into the larger organizational puzzle.
This implies elucidating not just the 'what' of their job—the tasks and responsibilities—but also the 'why'—how their contributions tie into the company's objectives and impact its success.
Consider employing interactive sessions or workshops that allow your new hires to delve deeper into their roles. These could include detailed discussions with team leads, exposure to relevant projects, or even shadowing sessions with seasoned employees. Equally crucial is defining performance expectations and success metrics clearly and objectively. This could be further reinforced with regular check-ins during the initial months.
By providing a well-rounded view of their role, you enable new hires to visualize their journey within the organization. This clarity can significantly enhance their sense of purpose, job satisfaction, and engagement levels.
Furthermore, it equips them to contribute effectively and meaningfully from early on, accelerating their transition from being a new hire to a fully integrated team member.
Example 3: A Warm Welcome With A Welcome Kit
The power of a genuine welcome on the first day of work cannot be underestimated. It's the first tangible experience a new hire has with your organization, setting the tone for their tenure.
This warm welcome, coupled with a thoughtful welcome kit, can create an indelible first impression, making your new team members feel truly valued and welcomed.
Begin by creating a warm and personalized welcome experience. Whether it's a cheerful welcome banner, a team breakfast, or a friendly meet-and-greet session, these gestures can infuse a sense of belonging from the get-go. Don't underestimate the value of the simple act of introductions; ensuring that everyone in the team takes the time to personally welcome the newcomer can make a significant difference.
In addition, consider offering a welcome kit tailored to your new hire's needs. This could include practical items like company merchandise, office supplies, or a guidebook with essential details about the organization. You could even add a personal touch by including a handwritten welcome note or local treats. If your organization operates remotely, consider mailing the kit to your new hire's home or providing a digital equivalent filled with useful e-resources.
A warm welcome and a well-curated welcome kit serve as positive reaffirmations of your new hire's decision to join your organization and nurture a strong relationship between your new hires and your company.

someone needs to add the ability to add doors to curtain systems in revit I am going insane in the membrane over the brokenness of the curtain system what am I supposed to do?? Just lay down and die??
revit why
whyyyyyyyy
For anyone wondering I just did a door opening and then put a brick wall outside the curtain system so I can add the door and the door opening allows me to have a door that actually leads outside, it doesn’t look bad but why the fuck is it impossible to put doors on curtain systems???
Why should I have to make a whole separate mass or even void mass when we could just allow the fucking doors in curtain systems????
honestly in general the curtain system is just fucked, why is it so broken???
do they not have play testers or something??? I’ve encountered like 50 separate issues and glitches in 2024 and 2025 and you’d think it wouldn’t be so crazy but like every time I livestream it in 2025 it starts flashing and strobing??? Like the fuck how???
I’d complain so so much but the autodesk website is too confusing.
BOOOO
#-pop#Revit#revit bim modeling#fuck autodesk those bitches better add accessibility features or I will riot#archicad wouldn’t do this to me#Literally why the fuck can’t you change the text size auto desk??? RIDDLE MY PISS AUTODESK WHY CANT I CHANGE THE FUCKING TEXT SIZE???#HUH??? PLEASE I WOULD KILL FOR LIKE TINY NOISES THAT TELL ME SOMETHING IS CONNECTED#like please hire a disabled person to design your fucking software#it’s so extremely inaccessible and people pay fuck 11 thousand dollars a year for this shit like come the fuck on???#Begrudgingly I know how to use revit and autocad but like fucking hell autodesk fix your fucking program I can’t have the fucking-#project manager and properties window open at the same time I’m 2025???#LITERALLy WHY IT WORKS IN 2024??

The men like to talk shit on Product Management because it's thought of as a "woman's job" but as an engineer I am so glad I don't have that job. They absorb so much bullshit and have to figure out what stakeholders want as well as dealing with grumpy engineers telling you "no" all the time.
It's a rough job in all seriousness and not for the faint of heart or the socially inept.

I will continue being gone for a few days, sadly my original al plan of releasing the newest chapter of The Consequence Of Imagination's Fear has also been delayed. My apologies
Can't go into detail because its hush hush not-legally-mentionable stuff but today is my fifth 12 hour no-break work day. I'm also packing to move too in a fortnight (which is a Big Yahoo!! Yippee!! I'll finally have access to a kitchen!! And no more mold others keep growing!!! So exciting!!!)
#syncrovoid.txt#delete later#OKAY SO! this makes it sound like i have a super important job but really we are understaffed and ive barely worked there a year now#graduated college a few years early 'cause i finished high school early (kinda? it's complicated)#now i am in a position where i am in the role of a whole Quality Assurance team (testing and write ups)#a Task Manager/Planner#Software Developer and maybe engineer? not sure the differences. lots of planning and programming and debugging ect ect#plus managing the coworker that messed up and doing his stuff because it just isnt good enough. which i WILL put in my end day notes#our team is like 4 people lol. we severely need more because rhe art department has like 10 people??#crunch time is.. so rough..#its weirdddddd thinking about this job since its like i did a speedrun into a high expectations job BUT in my defense i was hired before#i graduated. and like SURE my graduating class had literally 3 people so like there was a 86%-ish drop out rate??#did a four year course in 2 BY ACCIDENT!! i picked it on a whim. but haha i was picked to give advice and a breakdown on the course so it#could be reworked into a 3 year course (with teachers that dont tell you to learn everything yourself) so that was neat#im rambling again but i have silly little guy privileges and a whole lot of thoughts haha#anywho i am SO hyped to move!! I'll finally get away from the creepy guy upstairs (i could rant for days about him but he is 0/10 the worst)#it will be so cool having access to a kitchen!! and literally anything more than 1 singular room#(it isnt as bad as it sounds i just have a weird life. many strange happenings and phenomenons)#<- fun fact about me! because why not? no one knows where i came from and i dont 100% know if my birthday is my birthday#i just kinda. exist. @:P#i mean technically i was found somewhere and donated to some folks (they called some different people and whoever got there first got me)#but still i think it is very silly! i have no ties to a past not my lived one! i exist as a singularity!#anywho dont think about it too hard like i guess technically ive been orphaned like twice but shhhhhhhh#wow. i am so sleep deprived. i am so so sorry to anyone who may read this#i promise im normal#@:|

This is the bullshit about starting work again, I come home and continue with rubbish like planning plot processes and prioritisation matrixes and production programs and the like, instead of, you know, writing.
#managing the production vs actually “being the producer” brain#its such a different way of thinking I haven't worked out my 'snap brain into that different kind of creative mode again'#The reason I can be satisfied at my job is that I approach all that stuff *as* creative exercises; I create the clarity that does not exist#People blab for 30mins about problems and I doodle on a whiteboard and then they slow down and realise I've drawn their solution map#I *could* have been a consulting business analyst for the requirements definition stuff but detest the software/technologies rigidity part#What I really need is some 15 minute major physical/mental/formic break between work and home to switch brain modes#I do have a 20min powerwalk in there but then I have to do the kid/house so the endorphin benefit towards creative enterprise wears off

The thing with conceptualizing what Aubergine does and why is I always have to take 5 steps back and remind myself that he fundamentally is a guy who sucks.
He’s a guy who is a little incapable of considering other people as being real and is ambivalent towards changing that. He just also happens to have an inexplicable draw where people want to be in his inner circle so bad because once you’re part of his hoard he’ll go to any distance for you. Does he consider you real? No not really still, it is very much a possessive instinct but alas his easygoing medium meangirl demeanour and in-group slay have made the red flags look more festive
#like if he likes you enough he will change his behaviour for you but you just knowwww he hasn’t changed his thinking on the matter#unfortunately the only people he liked enough to change his behaviour for are the type of people to go ‘well at least he’s trying’ or#the type to not care#GOD he sucks so much#points ‘software engineering & managment with a minor in economics!’#it’s the reason why he doesn’t see any issues dating around the friend group and fucking everyone involved (except himself) up btw#and unfortunately his care for the people around him and genuine not understanding that his behaviour could’ve hurt people has the#incredibly traumatized people in his life going ‘well you can’t help but love him’ like KILL HIM#aubergine kai

genuinely and without irony i think we need to stop calling shit neurotypical until we figure out exactly what a typical neurotype looks like. what the fuck are you people.
#actually autistic#u cant pathologise one or two neurotypes and not figure out the other ones surely#also ur telling me theres like 3 atypical neurotypes and the rest are literally running the same stock software?#be SERIOUS i know you dont believe that#the difference bt the neurotypes of like. the people who tend to work in emergency medicine#vs the neurotypes of people who tend to work in management or business or engineering#or any other job that if we are being honest requires a particular brand of brainworm to thrive in#u are not being serious if u think that's all the same neurotype#but we're never gonna figure that out bc psychiatry is not about understanding the human condition is it#it's about power and control and reassuring the unpathologised masses that they're not like us :)#anyway. what do i know im autistic i dont understand social things :)

As much as I do hate to be this person... what is staff supposed to do with bots?
Listen. They plague me. I hate them and if I could get rid of them this second I would. However, i get this seen thrown around a lot in arguments and criticisms about staff and this site in general and I'm just not sure it's fair?
Nobody on anti-Tumblr-staff Tumblr seems to have like. A solid response. Something that could be done. Like, is this really the only website yall are on or what? *everywhere has this problem*. Every platform. Every website. I whack bots with sticks on Facebook and Instagram and Snapchat (and definitely other platforms I don't personally use). Bots scan and steal and harass people on Reddit. This is NOT a Tumblr problem. And I'm just not sure it's realistically a Tumblr Solution.
It would be great to solve this bot thing. But seeing hateful people constantly saying "why not do something productive like get rid of bots" in response to anything positive said about Tumblr is irritating because I'm not sure this is something actually achievable, or at least not with the ease that a lot of people seem to assume.
#sorry but a lot of the complaints people have about tumblr are just... modern platform problems#it sucks we cant listen to music here anymore-- talk to the fucking artists or labels or managers or whatever#it sucks that videos have a lot of issues-- talk to youtube or twitter or TT#like yeah i agree that these things are Issues#but they are not Tumblr Exclusive Issues#and might not even be Tumblr Issues at all#its just irritating seeing some of the criticisms and downright disgusting hate that staff gets#as if they have the power to just ignore copywrite and plagerism laws or innovate industry-disrupting software to smash bots#soren rants

The Importance and Various Ways of Showing Appreciation at a Workplace
Acknowledging the importance of employee appreciation is one thing; taking action to cultivate a culture of appreciation is another. This endeavor may seem daunting, but in reality, it's about integrating simple, thoughtful gestures into your workplace routines.
Let's explore some methods of showing appreciation at the workplace.
Tangible Rewards
Tangible rewards provide a physical manifestation of recognition. They come in various forms and sizes, from small tokens to more substantial rewards:
Gift Cards and Bonuses: Monetary rewards such as gift cards or bonuses can be effective tools to show appreciation. They offer employees the freedom to treat themselves to something they might not ordinarily purchase.
Paid Time Off: Another tangible way to show appreciation is by offering additional paid time off. This not only acknowledges employees' efforts but also demonstrates a commitment to their work-life balance.
Company Swag: Branded merchandise can be a fun and cost-effective way to show appreciation. Whether it's a stylish company t-shirt, a useful gadget, or a chic coffee mug, employees often appreciate these tokens of recognition.
Non-Tangible Rewards
Non-tangible rewards, though costless, can sometimes mean even more than tangible ones. They hinge on the aspect of personal connection and recognition:
Public Recognition: A shout-out at a team meeting, a feature in the company newsletter, or a post on the company's social media channels can significantly boost an employee's morale.
Thank-you notes: Personalized thank-you notes can make a big impact. Taking the time to write a heartfelt note shows that you not only appreciate the employee's work but also the person behind that work.
Listening to Your Employees: Regularly check-in with your employees, ask for their opinions, and genuinely listen to what they have to say. This can make employees feel valued and heard, a key facet of showing appreciation.

When I get a few free moments (read: a short series of consecutive, uninterrupted, totally me-time evenings), I am itching to finally finish something I have been thinking of doing (for so very long-- far longer than you might guess):
Learning a few new editing tricks in Photoshop (or procreate) so I can mimic the style of Something(tm) that I already have in mind.
Applying that knowledge to making a few new icons and then selecting one of those for my tumblr account ... and maybe using another one of those icons for a side account that I might have created shortly after I caught the CP2077 bug but have since ignored bc time, what is it?.
Messing around with tumblr themes because -- lol -- I need to use my shitty CSS knowledge for something better and more exciting than that Obsidian Monstrosity I've been custom theming.
#re my shitty css knowledge-- yeh#I think of it as shitty#but the truth of the matter is that I taught front end web dev#for many many years at the university level#while also playing the role of dev manager & architect#for a now-defunct piece of software#that at one point had a pretty sizable team of ppl grinding away#on the dev side and the design side of things#(all of whom reported to me at some level or another)#that said-- I still consider my css knowledge sort of shitty#especially when compared to people who#actually DO front end web dev as their day job#which i do not do#the last time Software Engineer / Architect#was literally my title as a full time employee in that roll#well-- I wasn't doing web dev and whenever I banged on front end#it was NOT for the web#(I was mostly concerned about designing APIs and#having serious thoughts about algorithms that needed#to compute tricky shit as quickly as possible)#also-- fixing typooooos in tags is impossble so fuccc dat shit#immm so tired#life is just --- give me some time to rest ffs

Tens of thousands of people have been fired in the tech sector in the last six months alone. With the economy the way it is, and with people who are already unable to get a job, I wonder how an extra 20,000+ jobseekers are going to have any luck finding work.
#i just want to point out that this isn't just automation. it's different for every company but a lot of it comes down to profiteering imo#the video game industry made disgusting amounts of money during the pandemic. best three years of sales in history#but that momentum was never going to keep up forever. even when the momentum was at full swing people were getting laid off#Activision-Blizzard laid off over a hundred people just before christmas while bobby kotick got a $250 million bonus#thst might have even been before the pandemic#but you're seeing it with microsoft and ubisoft. wouldn't surprise me if sony and nintendo were following suit in a less public manner#microsoft - arguably the biggest tech conglomerate in the world (next to tencent) - laid off 10 thousand workers alone#i live in a town with just over 10 thousand people. in my entire fucking town. in my perspective that's more or less the world around me#all of those people - jobless#facebook - didn't like 7k people just get fired? that's hot on the heels of john carmack leaving too#john carmack is probably one of the top 100 people in the tech industry. his tech improvements helped aging PC hardware keep up for years#DOOM might be a meme but it ran that well because id software under john carmack revolutionised rendering techniques and scrolling#and stuff like that. john carmack has been at the forefront of graphical technology and game development for 30+ years#that's resulted in a couple duds like RAGE. he was also all-in on voxel technology before he moved into VR#all of that was context for this: john carmack left meta (who bought oculus) and lambasted the company for poor management on the way out#saying that he'd never seen such unnecessary and wanton expenditure in his career. meta were throwing their money at things thay don't work#here's john carmack trying to lay the groundwork of a successful game for meta's metaverse. here's meta chasing superfluous buzzwords#meta spent almost $14 BILLION on buzzwords and marketing at the behest of the actual tech. and then they FIRED 7000 PEOPLE!!!!!!#they had a HAIL MARY working on their game - because metaverse IS A GAME - and they prioritised SELLING THE PRODUCT BEFORE BUILDING IT#IT COST THEM $14 BILLION + THEIR HAIL MARY - AND THEN THEY FIRED THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE!!!!!!#Ubisoft and Activision-Blizzard have been facing mass resignations after years of abusive and toxic workplaces#and on top of that they're firing people too. google stadia just went under. it wouldn't surprise me if 2k and rockstar were firing people#I don't know how many other unemployed people there are in america - hundreds of thousands? but 20k more is even worse for everyone#keep in mind that even with a $14 billion loss - meta still makes billions. Microsoft is in no financial danger#tech is more lucrative now than ever. i genuinely believe that these cuts are to keep record profits at record heights#because the pandemic boom is ending and their ALREADY OBSCENELY LUCRATIVE revenue flows are going back to normal#so 20k+ tech workers are losing their jobs to keep $80 billion instead of $79 billion. all of those people - jobless#that's 20 thousand people with individual lives and families and expenses. lost their jobs in the last six months#that example i gave - $80 billion instead of $79 billion. that's not revenue. that's profit.#all of those people out of work due to incompetence at best and rank orofiteering at worst. their salaries and benefits come under revenue
