Used an old poem pro file and added all of the new components to that one by one and exported a few seconds after adding each part make sure it didn’t go jumpy again.

Issue with two days to go oh no

Super happyu with everything BUT for some reason when i export from premier it has a weird sort of jumpy lag that makes the animation not look smooth. I have no idea why and its fine from AE. Issue is if i use AE instead of premier i have to learn how to colour grade in that, re colour grade and find new transitions.

Name Decision!!

Paul told me about this documentary called ‘Spaceship Earth’. It is a doc about when in 1991 eight visionaries embark on a two-year experiment to quarantine themselves inside Biosphere 2 -- a self-engineered replica of Earth's ecosystem.

While looking into this I also found out that Spaceship Earth (or Spacecraft Earth or Spaceship Planet Earth) is a worldview encouraging everyone on Earth to act as a harmonious crew working toward the greater good.

AND this is also a ride at Epcot in Disney 

I kind of liked this idea as my film is also lie a metaphor for earth but instead is something else much like the replica of earth’s biosphere is a representation of earth. I wanted to take this and make it fit my idea more. 

The design of my music box is based off of a symphonion music box i found and honestly i just liked that word and how its not obvious that it is a music box, instead it sounds like the type of music.

So i decided on “Symphonion Earth”.

I liked this because it directly references the music box, it could also be about the music box music playing in the background and therefore doesn’t give away the reveal. And i think it sounds lovely as a film title.

So happy with this feel like I’m so close to a proper film now !!!

Just added a single star scene to see what it looks like before actually making it properly. Me and Paul both like how this looks and I think it really just ties up the concept properly. I’m going to make my own star scene that twinkles a bit and that’s a bit more sparse because that one is like proper milky way but I want mine to sort of just be the white stars you see when you look up at night. Found a tutorial to make a star scale on photoshop so going to try and do that and hopefully finish this by Friday. Also need to render some more frames for at the end so that it zooms out a bit more

Colour Grading

Going to use this tutorial to colour grade my film. I don't think I’ll use all of the more complex parts such as Colour Wheel &   and instead I’ll probably just use the basic settings as I don’t want any drastic changes to the colours. 

I really just want to make the whites a bit whiter, contrast slightly higher, add a bit of brightness and some vibrance to the muted colours.

Super happy with the colour grading and now looking back at the shots without it they look so dull in comparison. Very glad I decided to do this everything just looks a bit richer and more put together.

Feedback

- Maybe have a star scene as background since music box is ‘earth’, would tie it all together. Have stars twinkle?

- Have end seconds be longer and pull out even more

- Use the black transition for the transition part but also have that at the start/ end so that it looks less random. 

To Do:

1- make a practice star scene using scene 1 and old scene 2 that has no floor to test if it looks good

2- Add in transitions on premier 

3- Start colour grading for next meeting to show

Audio

Original audio file was 1minute 52 seconds. For new version of film it needs to be trimmed down to around 1min 47 (end can run on for credits).

At the start of the audio theres some white noise of the mechanism beginning to turn and at 6 seconds the actual music begins. I want this music to begin as the first building comes into view at 5 seconds.

The music changes slightly at 1:27:90. I want this to happen when the transition between the two scenes happenbs with the angel of the north. In my film this is at 1:18:00 so i need to trim the audio to fit this. 

Cut 1 second off of the start with the mechanism turning to line up the start of the music with the video. And cut one of the 6 second loops out. The transition part of the music is now at 1:21:00 so need to cut 3 seconds from somewhere before thhis while still keeping the tune the same. 

Cut from 0:52:48 - 0:55:26 and faded in on pan and volume to trya nd make it seem like the cut was natural. This now takes the transition part of the audio to 1:18:07. Hoping this is close enough to the tiny seconds will try out with video added 

This change takes the end of tyhe catual music to 1:41:17, need to add 3 seconds

Title thinking time

I want a name thats a bit mysterious that doesn’t give too much away but also does. I think looking up big words in the dictionary will be a good way to go about this

Symphonion -  (sɪmˈfəʊnɪən) a 19th-century mechanical music player

Wanderlust-  to have a strong desire for or impulse to travel, wander and explore the world. ( i hate this one but the definition fits nice)

Solivagant (adj.)-  A solitary adventurer who travels or wanders the globe.

Dérive (n)-  A spontaneous and unplanned journey where the traveller leaves their life behind allows themselves to be guided by the landscape and architecture.Literally translated as “drift”, dérive is the idea that even if you drift you will end up on the right path.

- Re edit music ( added 50 frames to s1 with angel turning which has messed with timings of audio)

- Work out and do some cpolour grading, want whites whiter and the whole thing a liiiiittle bit brighter

- Re render a couple frames where pyramid is hovering a bit

Tutorial

- Maybe have angel of the north in the film as Transporter isn’t well known to the rest of the world as a northern symbol and the angel is like a ballerina on a more modern children’s music box

- Pisa rotating slightly slower than other buildings 

- Think I should make the camera in shot 2 move much less and be more of a pulling back crane shot since there’s already a lot of movement in the scene
