Just to prevent from any hateful comment I may have seen on other things citing this group, Black Sabbath is, as far as I'm concerned, NOT an anti christian group. Stay respectful, please, not matter the religion or lack of it you have. You can get mad at war though

Manon’s POV:
Things has be going… well for all intensive purposes. It was strange getting used to a household full of so many people. There was always noise, always chaos. But you could hide in chaos, go unnoticed as long as everyone else was making a scene. That was my only saving Grace, protecting my thinly veiled sanity.
I didn’t interact much with the self proclaimed “parents” of the family. Spaulding and I had nothing in common, nothing to say to each other. It would simply be a waste of breath. And Mama, she thought me plain. Her extravagant fashion sense easily outshining most of Texas. We exchanged pleasant hellos and nods of acknowledgement. But that was the extent of our relationship. It ended there, and I didn’t mind. It was safer to keep my distance.
I only managed to survive so to the mercy of their youngest member. Blinky, they showed me kindness. But that didn’t mean I could trust them, that would be foolish to assume. I wasn’t sure what game they were playing. Perhaps they’d get bored of me, and finally get rid of me. Which meant, I had to find my own way to protect myself. To remain whole and unscathed.
I wracked my brain for hours on end, trying to come up with the best plan to stay alive. Ingrain myself into their lives so seamlessly, it was like they never knew anything else. They may be a family of killers, but they were just that, a family. And it was clear to me they protected their own, sometimes overly so. As much as I hated the idea, it was the only thing worth a shot. I’d have to go through Otis.
But I hated the man. He tortured me like it was some sort of sick game. That ever present sadistic smile burned into my brain. I could hardly stand to be in his room, but I was hoping that would fade with time. They said time heals all wounds, but I wasn’t sure if I wanted this wound to shut just yet. Stewing over it was keeping me busy, occupied. I took a deep breath, looking in the mirror.
My outfit was quite frumpy. A long navy skirt, and a simple white blouse, with an oversized grey cardigan thrown on top. I plaited my hair into a single braid to the side. Tying it with the spool or ribbon Blinky hand gifted me. They said it was Better than hair ties, since they always got lost in her hair. The ribbon was plain, black with lace on the edges. It was pretty. I smoothed out my skirt and made my way over to Baby’s room before knocking.
I heard her music cut off as she came to open the door.
“Oh, it’s you.”
I wasn’t expecting that tone, but no matter. One offended comment wasn’t going to deter me.
“If you’re not busy, I was wondering if you could possibly help me with my make up? You see, I’m not very good at it.”
Her face light up as she pulled me into the room, sitting me down at her makeshift vanity. It was simply a mirror on a desk with fairly lights taped to it. But it worked.
“We seriously need to get you better clothes.” She commented.
“I like my clothes just fine, thank you.” I said, slightly annoyed.
“Suit yourself, but you look like a Mormon.”
I scoffed. But none the less, I remained patient while she worked. She didn’t do anything too over the top, like Blinky would have. Not that I didn’t enjoy my time spent with the kid, but they could be a little much sometimes. It was a simply gray to black Smokey eye, with mascara and red lipstick. It was very me, and I was glad Baby was able to capture that accurately. I didn’t want to change who I was, just because this situation was forced upon me.
“There, what do you think?”
I took a long hard look in the mirror, it seemed my dark circles were dispersing a little now that I had an actual bed to sleep in. Sure it was by Otis’s side, but it was better than the floor.
“Thanks Baby, I love it.” I gave her a polite smile.
“Any particular reason you’re getting all dolled up today? Or are you just bored?”
“How could anyone be bored around here?” I joked.
“No, no reason, I just wanted to feel nice I guess. Change something up.”
“We’ll please, feel free to borrow my makeup anytime cutie”
She sent me a wink as she left her own room. I was entirely confused, because I had come to her. Why would she leave, and where was she going all of a sudden. It seemed her previous plan for the day was to just blast her music, most likely get high.
“Ok then.” I said out loud, despite the room being empty.
I didn’t want to linger too long, afraid I’d find something I didn’t want to if I started looking around. As I walked out into the hallway I was nearly knocked over, but it seems the other person defined the laws of physical and fell over instead.
“Blinky?” I asked, looking down at them sprawled out in the floor.
She quickly hopped to her feet, rushing past me.
“No time to talk, there’s a bird loose in the house!”
I watched as they dispersed around the corner, supposedly looking for a bird that had flown inside by accident. Like I said, how could anyone be bored in this house. There was always something going wrong, usually more so than it ever went right. RJ was the next of the family that I saw. I didn’t know much about the boy, expect he was rather sadistic like his brother.
I assumed he was probably the one who let the bird in. Blinky would want to find it before he would, he would surly torture the poor thing. Which would in turn, torture Blinky. It was something I picked up on quick, Blinky seemed to have an abundance of compassion for little creatures. Including plants, which they were in charge of watering outside.
“Damn woman, you look like a sexy school teacher.” RJ commented.
I raised my eyebrow at him, not sure if I was supposed to accept that as some sort of compliment.
“Thanks.” I said slowly.
I rolled my eyes when I could feel him staring at my ass as I walked away. Why were men like that? It was honestly disgusting. I made my way down to the kitchen and took out a glass, pouring myself the last of the orange juice. I heard a chuckle form the table, one that sent chills down my spine. It was Otis.
“You shouldn’t do that.” He said amused.
“Do what?” I was entirely confused, I hadn’t done anything.
“Blinky is gonna flip her lid if she finds out you drank the last cup of juice. They’ve stabbed RJ for less.”
I couldn’t tell if he was joking or not. His tone didn’t read serious, and neither did that smug look on his face. But I had to remind myself of who they were, and where I was.
“I’ll get them more.” I said simply.
Surly they wouldn’t throw a tantrum over some juice.
“And how are you going to do that? You’re not allowed to leave.” He grinned like a Cheshire Cat.
“Then you’ll come with me.”
This was my in, one on one time with Otis outside of this damn house. Outside of these walls that held hunted memories of my first days here. He stood from his chair, getting closer. Almost like a predator sizing up their prey.
“Sure, and you’ll just try to run. I ain’t stupid.” He said.
“I never claimed you were. I’m not either, you know this town, you live here. Where is it you think I could run where you wouldn’t find me?” I tested.
Sure, it was bold, but it felt good to stand up to him. Little acts of defiance here and there. Breaking the roles he’d unknowingly set for us. He lifted my chin with his finger, using his other hand to steal my glass of orange juice. I looked him in the eyes, scared to look away, but not really wanted to.
“Aren’t you a smart little thing, you’ll do good to remember that”
He dropped his hand, stepping back and downing the rest do the juice in one gulp. I glared at him. Was that really necessary? I huffed, stomping my foot and turning on my heel to leave. Why did he make it so hard to be near him? Did he enjoy being lonely? Because that’s how he was going to end up that this rate.
It was touch feeling lonely in a world full of people. If anyone knew that it was me. Going unnoticed, undiscovered, being completely invisible. People never looked twice at me, what reason would they have to? I decided that maybe todays plan would be to get on Mama’s good side.
I gently knocked on her door, hearing her shout “come in”
“Hey, Otis and I are going to the store later. Did you want anything specific?” I asked politely.
“We’ll shit sugar, you don’t have to get anything special for little old me. Otis knows what I like.” She dismissed me.
But it did seem I made her happy for trying.
“Alright then, if you’re sure.”
She gave me a dazzling smile and I shut the door as I left. I didn’t particularly want to run into RJ again today, so I chose instead to go down to the basement and check on Tiny. Perhaps I could get some laundry done today. I greeted him with a polite smile and waved.
“I was gonna do some laundry, do you need anything cleaned?” I asked.
He nodded, pointing to a small pile in the corner. I went over to pick them up.
“Need anything from the store later?”
He shook his head no.
“Alright Tiny, I’ll be in and out of here all day, leave to door unlocked for me, yeah?”
He gave me a thumbs up. He was easy to talk to, considering he didn’t really talk much. But he was very good at listening, unlike somebody in this house. I grabbed a basket off the shelf and went back up stairs to collect the rest of the laundry. Everyone was already up and about for the day, so I could just go in and grab things from their hampers or piles. Sorting things was the only way I could feel in control in this situation. It made me feel useful.
Blinky almost ran right into me again, but I lifted the basket up and out of the way to stop them from hitting their head in it.
“Woah, Blinky!” I said, “maybe we shouldn’t be running in the house.” I suggested
“Right, sorry.” They muttered.
“Did you find your bird?”
“Mmhmm” they nodded. “It has a broken beak, but it will live. I let it out the window.”
I smiled.
“I’m glad to hear that.”
“Doing laundry?”
“Mhhhm. Was just on my way to your room.”
“Dont bother, I’ve already got mine covered. Thank you though. Hey, I was wondering if later tonight you would want to watch a movie with me?”
“Umm, sure kid. I’ll come find you when I’ve finished my chores.”
“Okie dokie artichokie!”
They skipped off down the hallway, without a single care in the world. It was strange how happy and giddy she could be all the time. Especially living in a place like this. There was still a lot o didn’t understand about them, well any of them for that matter. How did they get this way? Was it nurture or nature?
A few hours passed and I was mostly done with everything. I just had to finish my own laundry now. I didn’t have many clothes yet, only the ones I had packed for my ordinal trip. I heard a knock on the door, and turned to see Otis leaning against the door. He had that ever present smirk on his face. It’s like he didn’t know any emotions other than smug asshole.
“Ready to go Princess?” He asked.
I rolled my eyes at the nickname, simply stepping past him and out into the hall. He fallowed after me as I made my way to the front door. I didn’t get to use it much, only ever going outside if it was to help Blinky with the plants. I hesitated with my hand on the handle, I don’t know why I was nervous. Perhaps it was being stuck in a car alone with Otis. I swallowed my pride and walked out to the truck, waiting for him to unlock it and hopped into the passenger seat.
I wasn’t surprised to see one of Baby’s many CD’s on the dash board. The music was blasting in the truck, but it wasn’t awful, I just rolled down the window and let the wind hit my face. It was a good feeling, a normal feeling. Normal was hard to come by these days. He didn’t bother with small talk which I appreciated. But I kept noticing him stealing glances at me. When he parked the truck, he turned to look at me.
“No running, got it?” He said forcefully.
“Yes.”
“Damn, who pissed in your cereal this morning Princess?”
“All I said was yes.”
“It’s your tone.” He warned.
“We’ll sorry I’m not exactly excited right now.”
“You should be, you haven’t been outside in weeks. Fresh air will do you some good.”
I rolled my eyes, hoping down from the truck as I snatched the list from him. I wanted to make this trip quick. I just wanted to go home and lay back down. Getting things off the list was the easy part. But I wanted to get something extra for Blinky, since they were the only one in this god forsaken place that seemed like a decent person. Besides, they were just a kid, they deserved a little extra once in a while. I picked up two bags of candy and turned to Otis, silently asking which one.
“Didn’t know you were a Candy girl.” He mused.
“I’m not, these are for Blinky.”
I saw his eyes soften ever so slightly at that. He seemed to really care about her. From what I understand, their relationship was akin to that of a father and his daughter. At least it gave me proof that he wasn’t totally a lost cause. He had a heart, it was just shoved so far up his ass you couldn’t see it.
“Get the bears, she likes to bite the heads off first.” He commented.
How peculiar, such a minuscule detail to remember about someone. Maybe he could listen, just not to me.
“Otis, can-“ I paused, pushing the shakiness out of me, “can I ask you something?”
“I believe you just did, Sugar.”
I rolled my eyes, when he didn’t move to stop me I asked anyway.
“Why did you let Blinky save me?”
He let out a laugh, that did garner a few strange looks from passers by. Maybe this wasn’t the best place for it, but wasn’t it. I was relatively safe in public, he wouldn’t try anything here right?
“I don’t exactly let Blinky do anything, there more of the beg for forgiveness type.” He sighed, “What Blinky wants, Blinky gets, simple.”
He said it like it was the most definitive answer he’d ever given. I suppose I should be endeared by his words, but they just made me feel worse. Some part of me just wanted to hear him say it, say that he had some part in this choice.
“And if they hadn’t wanted me?”
He shrugged.
“I would have kept you around a while, none of my recent toys were nearly as fun,” he moved closer to me, towering over me with his height. “None of them scream so pretty.”
He brushed a lock of hair out of my face. I shouldn’t be trembling from fear, hatred, anxiety. So then, why was I so still. Why did I lean into his touch. His hands were warm, and I felt like a child in the cold. I closed my eyes for a second, before meeting his gaze again.
“Then I suppose I should get Blinky both of these then.”
I tried to change the topic. I didn’t like the heavy tone that hung in the air, lingering for far longer than I ever wanted. Than I was comfortable with. He let out another short laugh. There was something different about the way he backed away from me this time. That action wasn’t primal like any of the times I was in that chair. But it wasn’t gentle or sincere either. He still wanted to see me squirm and I didn’t want to give him the satisfaction.
Maybe Blinky was enough after all, and I wouldn’t have to go through with that foolish notion I conjured up in my worry. So what part of me was hesitating, unsatisfied. It was clear he adored them, there was never any question in his choices when it came to them. I never expected the man who was so cruel to me, to be the ‘I love my little girl’ type. One would expect him to be a terrible parent, could you blame them for that assumption? We began to walk to the checkout, but my brain was still far away.
But wasn’t he an awful parent? The government, and I bet most people would think so. He was a killer, a sadistic one at that. He didn’t seem one to show mercy. That alone is bad enough, but if there was one thing I knew about serial killers, I’d that they’re extremely charismatic. They have to be to fool so many people into thinking they’re normal. Capable of empathy. Capable of clemency and humanitarianism. Often times, their family and friends had no idea what they were.
But Blinky knew, shouldn’t that be worse? Your swapping a lie, which is objectively bad, for honesty. But that isn’t honourable in this case. It was horrifying. So why wasn’t Blinky scared of him, of their father, the man who raised them to think that all of this sick shit was normal, ok even. Isn’t that what makes him so terrible, not only is he spreading vitriol and hatred, but he was spreading his curse. Tainting them, corrupting them in the most unholy way.
I wasn’t sure how long Blinky had been with them, but it wasn’t forever. I knew that much. They’d vaguely alluded to having been in my position in the past. So what was it, Stockholm Syndrome? Was that the fate I would be made to suffer? Caring for the people who once, and probably still do want my death. But then again, how did he come to care for them this deeply, so quick? If she wasn’t made from his blood, or left to his care as a babe, then how long am I to wait.
There was something special about Blinky, something entirely contagious. But I didn’t have that, I was just… me. I hadn’t even realised we were back to the truck until I was climbing inside. But Otis didn’t turn the keys. I slowly brought my gaze to meet his.
“Whatcha thinking about pretty lady?” He asked.
But his tone was still condescending, that wasn’t a sincere complement. So why was I blushing? Why was my heart racing, betraying me?
“If this is about what I said earlier-“
“It’s not.”
I didn’t know if he’d be upset with me for dwelling on it. I was stupid to hope he’d ever share even a modicum of respect, or humility towards me.
“I was going to say, before you cut me off, that the truth is, I don’t know. I don’t know what I would have done with you. You good with that?”
I nodded. At least he wasn’t lying to me.
“Why do you care for Blinky so much?”
“They make me feel things I thought I was no longer capable of feeling. They make me better.” He said earnestly.
“Well, I’m glad you have them.”
And the conversation ended there. I just wanted to be back to the house. Back near Blinky where I was safe. I hated feeling this helpless against my situation. Of course, I could have made a scene in that store. Yelled and screamed about how he was kidnapping me. It technically wasn’t a lie, the only difference is I was already trapped. Where was there for me to go if I got out? Could I ever go back to a normal life after that? Just forget haunted by this horrible memory in my past.
“Let’s just go home.” I sighed.
Home. What a strange concept, to think this place would be where I’d stay the rest of my life. Unless by some chance we moved. But they didn’t seem like the pack up and leave type. Otis and I worked silently to unpack the groceries. And I slipped away to go find Blinky when it was done. I shouldn’t say I was surprised to find them sitting on Otis’ bed, seemingly waiting for me.
“So, how was it?” They asked excitedly.
I raised my brow, stepping into the room.
“You’re trip outside silly! I wasn’t even allowed to go out for like 4 months after I got here. He must really like you.” They concluded.
Like is a strong word, I wouldn’t necessarily go that far. I sighed.
“It was nice Blinky, I got you these.” I handed them the bag.
“You got me a gift?”
The look on their face made my heart melt. They looked like they were about to cry, they were so happy. She tore into the bag and smiled happily.
“These are my favourite! How did you know?”
“Otis helped.” I said, sitting beside them on the bad.
They engulfed me into a spine breaking hig, and I had to stifle a laugh.
“Blink, can’t breath.” I said.
“Right, sorry. I’m just- thank you. This means a lot to me.”
“It’s just candy.”
They shook their head.
“Nobody ever really gets me things. So thank you Doe Eyes.”
The name sounded much nicer coming out of their mouth. I couldn’t bring myself to hate it, it was sort of growing on me. I flopped down backwards on the bed.
“You ok?” They asked.
“Just tried.”
“We could take a nap.” They suggested.
They hopped off the bed and pulled up the covers.
“Otis won’t mind, he’s gonna be busy making dinner.”
I laughed. It was odd how domestic she made him seen. Like your average father, cooking for his family and taking care of the house. I wish that was all there was too him. But there was this darkness, this wickers, heinous, black hearted side to him. One that seemed all consuming. I was brought of of my thought when Blinky practically pounced on top of me. They really had no concept of personal space.
“No thinking, it’s sleepy time.” The giggled.
I rolled my eyes, scooting backwards on the bed, carefully to not accidentally knock them off the side. They last thing I needed right now was them hitting their head because of me. Otis would surly have my head for that. They moved with me, laying down on top of my chest. I pulled the blankets up over us and closed my eyes.
I suppose there was no safer place to sleep than beside Blinky. No one would bother us if they were actually resting for once. I hadn’t been here long, but even I picked up on the fact that they didn’t sleep much. It was almost like they were afraid too. I wrapped my arms around them, basically using them as a teddy bear. Perhaps they felt safe in my arms too.
I was surprised when I woke up and it was dark outside. How long had I slept for? There was no light on in the room, but I could see a figure in the corner. A figure I knew all to well.
“We’ll good morning sleepy head.” He whisper shouted, carful not to wake Blinky.
“What time is it?”
“Almost nine. You missed dinner, Mama wasn’t all that happy about it. But I told you you were with Blink.”
I nodded, trying to process my surroundings. Otis had a book in his hand, I wasn’t sure how he could read in this lighting, perhaps he was accustomed to the dark. I tried to move, but he made a tsk sound.
“Don’t wake them.” He warned.
His tone was low and menacing. I just nodded once more. It seems I would be stuck here until Blinky was rested. But it beat doing chores I guess. I shifted slightly to make them more comfortable, their head was at an awkward angle and I didn’t want them to wake up with a sore neck. Otis went back to reading, as if I wasn’t even there. Had he been watching us sleep earlier? I heard him sigh.
“I can hear you thinking from over here.” He muttered.
He stood up, moving to sit on the edge of the bed, presumably so he wouldn’t have to talk so loud. I felt small right now, totally helpless with the fact that I couldn’t leave. That he was holding all the cards. That he was staring down at me with those eyes that have seen so many horrors.
“You’re still scared of me.” He finally said.
“Don’t you want me to be?”
He let out an exasperated sigh. Almost as if everything I said frustrated him tremendously. But the feeling was mutual. His eyes shifted to Blinky, and he reached out to move some hair out of their eye. It was tender and soft, something I wasn’t sure he was capable off. Otis Driftwood was possibly the most confusing man on the planet. A bundle of open ended contradictions.
“You know I chose you for a reason right?”
I scoffed, he didn’t choose me. Blinky did. He made that very clear earlier.
“I could have let Baby or Spaulding handle you, but I didn’t. That should count for something.”
“Great, so you tortured me instead of them. I feel so loved right now Driftwood.”
“Shit happens, you’ll get over it. I’m not torturing you right now am I?”
Oh but he was. My skin was crawling to get away from him, but my head got all fuzzy at the thought of leaving. He gave me no reason to assume he would hurt Blinky, but you couldn’t be too careful. Sure, they were technically an adult, but they didn’t really act like it. They weren’t mature enough to handle these sort of adult things. Would she be sad if I left, if I died, if I was brutally murdered by her father in a fit of rage?
“You know, conversations only work if you respond.”
He sounded impatient.
“What am I meant to say Otis? Thank you for only torturing be a few days then having a change of heart? Tell that to my scars, they don’t know the difference.” I hissed out in a whisper.
I instinctively held Blinky closer, their presence being the only thing keeping me from blowing up in anger right now.
“Excuse me for needing time to adjust.”
“You can have all the time in the world to be mad at me little Missy. But Blinky likes you, they don’t take to too many strangers. If I even do much as think you’re going to try and run, I will kill you were you stand. Blinky or not. They’ve grown attached, which means you’re stuck with me, and I’m stuck with you. At least I’m trying to make this less miserable.”
“So you’re calling a truce?” I laughed.
The movement causing Blinky to move slightly, but I hushed them back to sleep. Softly petting her hair, which was surprisingly calming. He rolled his eyes.
“Something like that.”
“I don’t forgive you, I’ll make that very clear. But for Blinky’s sake, I’ll remain civil if you do.”
He was putting in an effort at least, and that did count for something in my book. Maybe he wasn’t entirely bad. I was terrified to think what would have happened to me if Baby had gotten to me first instead.
“Move over.” He said.
I hesitantly did so, and he crawled into his bed.
“It’s easier to sleep if they’re not running around doing god knows what.” He said tiredly.
He rolled over so his back was facing us. It took about an hour for me to fall back asleep, I wanted to make sure he was really sleeping before I felt comfortable.
Some time had passed again when I was woken up by a noise in the house. Sure, it was a stupid horror movie trope to go investigate, but if there was anything I hated, it was being a sitting duck. I carefully slid Blinky off of me and toward her father. I couldn’t lie it was kind of adorable watching them snuggle up to him so readily. I head another noise and it sounded like someone was breaking into the house. I carefully stepped out into the hallway, and it wasn’t Baby or RJ, their doors were both closed still.
There were no lights on in the house, so it wasn’t Mrs Firefly or Spaulding either. And Tiny didn’t leave the basement much, so that was unlikely. Someone had definitely broken in. I snuck around, using the dark as my cover. Who the fell would be all the way out here in the middle of the night? It’s not like we had much worth stealing. But then I thought of worse, I’m sure the Firefly’s had their enemies. They weren’t exactly pleasant company.
I tried to sneak to the kitchen, hoping at least to grab a knife to arm myself. I didn’t want to hurt anybody, but if they hurt me first I would have to. It’s not like I could just run back to Otis’s room, he’d think I was trying to leave. Damn it. There was a louder crash as the intruder knocked over a lamp in the living room. That surely would have woken someone up. I cursed under my breath.
They turned on a light and I could see them from around the corner. It was a man, probably twice my size, and shit, he was holding a knife. Definitely didn’t come here just to steal stuff. I took a step back trying to hide myself against the wall, but the floor creaked under my foot. He spotted me. I tried to make a B-line back to the room, but he caught my foot, tripping me. The crack of my body hitting the floor echoed off the wall. He tries to pull me towards him but I kept kicking.
Why wasn’t I screaming. It was liek I’d forgotten how. Like my voice was caught in my throat. Luckily for me when I landed a hit on his crotch, he let out a yowl. I saw the light from Otis’a room turn on immediately. But before I could run, the man pulled me up by my hair and held the knife to my throat threateningly. I remained painfully still so he wouldn’t accidentally cut me. Otis was in the hall now, trying to process the scene happening before him. I could hear footsteps, Blinky was certainly awake now too. Shit.
I was hoping Otis wasn’t delusional enough to blame this on me. It’s not my fault I’m a light sleeper. Or that this idiot broke into the house. I was pissed actually. I lived here now, wether I liked it or not.
“Go back in the room Blinky.” I heard Otis’s stern voice.
Yes, please stay inside the room. I didn’t need the attackers attention on them. She was surly an easier target, anyone could see that. And if Blinky got hurt, that would be blamed on me. And I’m not sure if I’d able to forgive myself for letting that happen. But Blinky was stubborn and peaked their head past the door anyway. Her eyes met mine and they widened horrified.
“I think you’ve got the wrong house.” Otis said to the intruder. “You’d do best to leave the girl.” He warned.
He was actually trying to defend me. If my head wasn’t spinning with adrenaline right now, I might have found it endearing. I saw Blinky slip back into the room, thank god. I tried to move, but he pulled me up to my feet, brining the knife even closer to my neck, I could feel the sting of the cold blade on my flesh, and I squeezed my eyes shut.
“No, I think I have the right house Driftwood. You and your little family here, killed by brother.”
“So what, you want revenge.” Otis laughed.
Why was he antagonising him right now.
“There’s only one of you, you do the math, or we’re to too stupid to go to school?”
I growled under my breath. Was he trying to get me killed? Maybe then he could put the blame on this stranger and Blinky wouldn’t hate him for it. What I hadn’t realised was he was stalling, letting the guy back him up further into the hallway until we were passed his room. Maybe he would wake RJ to help him handle this. But I wasn’t expecting what happened next.
I was suddenly dropped to the floor, the knife barley knocking my skin as it was knocked four of his hand. I held my hand to my neck, trying to slow the blood in any way possible. I dont think it was deep enough to kill me, but damn did it hurt. I flipped myself over onto my back, turning to look at the intruder so he wouldn’t be past my line of sight. But what I saw was horrifying.
There stood Blinky with a baseball bat, now covered in blood. Breathing heavily, almost like a dog who was panting. She kept saying something over and over but it didn’t sound like it was in English. As they bashed his head in, breaking bone after bone as his body and face contorted horribly. I’d never seen them like this, never thought to imagine such a thing. They were so sweet and innocent, but now I understood it better. This wasn’t Stockholm Syndrome, this was survival. They were just as capable of anyone else in this fucked up family, that much was clear.
The man’s face was entirely caved in, and practically turned to soup on the floor. Blinky had a fiery rage in their eyes, and their entire body was trembling wildly. They finally looked up to meet my eyes, and quickly threw the bag behind them. Rushing towards me. I didn’t mean to, but out of instinct I backed away. Otis was behind me, and my back hit his legs. Blinky slowed their apprch and gently knelt down beside me, grabbing my face in their bloody hands.
Without saying a single word, they pulled me into a tight hug. Even tighter than the one earlier today. I could feel there muscles tensing and untensing wildly, like they were fighting so hard to control their movements. They pulled back and looked at me again.
“I thought I was gonna loose you Doe Eyes.”
Their voice was so soft it almost broke me. How could they be so gentle with me after doing that? Killing a man without a second thought, no remorse, no hesitation. I brought my hand up to grab theirs, rubbing my hand against their bloody knuckles.
“I’m here, I’m right here.” I said softly.
Baby had come into the hall now, she probably hadn’t heard much considering she felt with her headphones on. And her taste in music was quite loud.
“What in fucks name happened here?” She asked.
“Blinky just made their first kill.” Otis said proudly.
Like it was a father talking about his child getting onto the little league team. But he wasn’t talking about that, he was talking about a man’s life. A horrible man, who most likely would have killed me. I would have to thank Blinky later. But did he say, first? They’d never killed before? They killed someone just to protect me?
“Let’s gets you cleaned up ok. Are you hurt anywhere else?” They asked, tears streaming down their face.
I shook my head.
“I’m- I’m ok. I said shakily.”
“Otis-“
“I’ll go get the first aid kit. Baby, get RJ to help you get rid of this creep. We’ll clean this up in the morning.
“Gladly.” Baby smiled.
She sent me a gentle wave as she bound down the hallway to wake the boy.
“Can you stand?”
My legs were a little shaky, the adrenaline still high, but I suppose I could manage. I would have to. I let them lead me to the bathroom where the sat me down on the toilet seat. I watched as they expertly sorted through the medical kit like they’ve done this 1000 times before.
“Baby likes to pick victims who are a challenge, I think she likes the pain.” They explained, as if they’d read my mind.
“Let me see please.”
I removed my hand from my neck.
“This is gonna sting a little, but I have to clean it.”
Their hands were a little shaky, tiny sobs trying to escape their body as they tried to focus. I hissed when the rag touched my cut, and they flinched back
“No, Blinky it’s ok… you can keep going.”
The hesitantly went back to cleaning it. The turned my head from side to side, checking for other injuries.
“I don’t think you’ll need stitches. Good thing too cause I’m not very good at them yet. The necks a delicate place.”
They moved to get some tape, cutting it into thin stripes, and stretching it vertically across the cut, bringing the skin closer together. They then wrapped a bandage around my neck for good measure. Leaving a gentle kiss where the deepest part of the cut was.
“All better?” They asked.
I had to try not to fry in front of them. I was sure if I broke down, they would loose the thin veil of composer they were working so hard to keep right now. I couldn’t bring myself to speak so I just nodded.
“Why?” The suddenly asked.
“What?”
“Why did you leave the room? Why would you go out there alone Doe, what were you thinking? What if we hadn’t- what if I didn’t wake up in time?”
Oh no. I knew where this was going. They were going to be even more afraid of falling asleep now. That’s not what I wanted.
“I’m sorry.”
“No, he’s sorry. You’re foolish.”
This that, the turned away, packing up the supplies and storming out of the bathroom. I hadn’t expected them to blow up on me like that, but they were right. It was stupid. I would surly never make that mistake again. Otis leaned against the door, but for once didn’t have that stupid look on his face. He looked concerned as I sat there utterly defeated.
“Give them time to cool off. I still remember my first kill, and I wanted nothing more than to be alone after. But she’s right, you are stupid.”
“I know, I’m sorry.”
I couldn’t hold back my tears anymore. He made his way across the room, kneeling before me.
“Are you really that unhappy here? We’re trying our best to be nice to you.”
“It’s- it’s not that. I just, you told me not to wake them, I thought I could handle it.” I cried.
He let out a guttural sound akin to a growl. It seemed the two people I thought I had figured out most in this house, we’re full of surprises. He didn’t say another word, quickly picking me up and throwing me over his shoulder. I was entirely stunned and dumbfounded, to exhausted to care at this point. I thought maybe he was going to punish me, instead he just pushed open the door to the room and threw me down on the bed.
“Get some more rest.” Was all he said, before closing the door and supposedly leaving to handle the body in the hallway.
It was much easier to fall back asleep than I thought. Blinky’s teddy bear, Sir Isaac Newton was still on the bed. I held him close as I cried myself back to sleep. Hopefully tomorrow things would go back to normal.
Otis’s POV:
Maybe I hit her upside the head one to many times. What the fuck was she thinking? I was angry when I woke up and noticed she wasn’t in my bed. I thought I had finally gotten through to her, explained that I wasn’t going to hurt her unless she made me. But what I found was even worse.
I recognised the man vaguely, when he mentioned his brother it hit me. He was one of the few people that was lucky enough to actually escape. But he wouldn’t be leaving this time, I was sure of it. I heard Blinky stir and I tried to get them to stay in the room, but as usual, curiosity got the better of them. I recognised that look in their eyes when they saw Doe Eyes. I knew it all to well.
I stalled the man as I watched Blinky head to the corner and grab my old bat. This should be fun I thought. I kept him moving towards me in the hall, egging him on so Blinky could slip past undetected. I’d never seen them so furious before, it was sort of adorable. The raised the bat and hit him harshly over the head, making him drop Doe Eyes. I had half expected them to just stop at that, I’d gladly do the honours of killing this freak.
But I couldn’t tear my eyes away as they just kept wailing on him. They were saying something in their native language, and I didn’t need to speak it to know whatever they were saying was foul. Their tiny body shake with rage as they beat him to a bloody pulp. I’d never been more proud in my entire life. I was never going to push them to kill if they didn’t want to. So long as they never judged us for it, which she never did.
She had blood splattered all over her face and arms, chunks of his brain flung into their hair. It was brutal and totally blood mess. Of course, maybe I should be checking on Doe Eyes, who was now bleeding at me feet, but I wanted to wait. Wanted to see how Blinky would respond when they snapped out of it. Be there if they began to panic. It was a likely reaction, I’ve seen them have a melt down over less. I wasn’t sure how they’d react to the sensory of warm blood being on their skin.
But I was surprised when they didn’t even seem to react, turning right back into their sweet loving self and rushing to dote on Doe Eyes. They were crying, and I couldn’t stand to watch it. I hated when Blinky cried. I took charge of the situations as Baby came out of her room. I lingered get the bathroom as Blinky patched her up. Blinky was mad, that much was obvious.
They pushed past me as they rushed out of the bathroom, stomping down the hall. I debated for a moment going after them, but I was torn when I heard Manon begin to cry as well. Fuck me, why were women so emotional. I chose instead to help her, knowing Blinky wouldn’t forgive me if I left her sitting there crying. Frankly, I was mad at her too. How could she be so reckless! I just told her Blinky would be deviated I’d something happened to her, and she goes and rushed head first into danger unprepared. Tomorrow morning I would have to train her. Teach her self defence.
I didn’t know hot to comfort her when she cried. So I did what I always do with Blinky when they’re upset, send them to their room. I closed the door behind me once we was safe and locked away. I couldn’t risk her getting hurt again so soon, or getting cold feet and finally deciding to run. So I locked the door behind me. I’d have to clean up this mess, which was the last thing I wanted to do today. And then I’d have to track down Blinky. They probably went up to the roof again to think.
Today was going to be a miserably long a day…
An: Yay, finally finished. I hope I got Manon’a character right. I tried really hard to explain how their strange relationship started blossoming 🥰

A Little Voice Told Me - Pt. 3
Poly! MC Summary: Words hurt and leave their scars. MC learns this the hard way after hearing some not-so-nice whispers about them while on a date with Beel. How are they supposed to be the partner of the seven lords of the Devildom when they just don't measure up? Part 1: HERE, Part 2: HERE Previously on A Little Voice Told Me...
The brothers had thought of a number of ways you could've reacted to them confronting you. Lucifer thought that perhaps you would snap at them and distance yourself further. Mammon, Levi, and Asmo expected a few small tears followed by a cuddle session. Satan imagined a slightly more dramatic telling, like something from one of his novels, that ended him being your hero and massacring all those who dared speak ill about you. Beel thought perhaps you could talk over a bunch of comfort foods that allowed you to remain calm and feel safe. Belphie had hoped that perhaps you hadn't believed what you overheard, and the two of you could laugh at how idiotic even the idea of them not loving you was. But you, breaking down into tears, sobbing the words "I'm sorry" over and over again? None of them had expected, nor were prepared, for that. Any anger or tension that the boys previously had was instantly replaced with worry about your well-being.
Asmodeus was the first to reach you. He quickly pulled you against him and held you as tightly as he could. "Easy now, dear. It's okay," he glanced up to look at his brother anxiously standing around the two of you, itching to comfort you but unsure as to what they should do. You trembled in Asmo's arms and fisted his shirt in your hands, no doubt wrinkling the expensive fabric. "They were right, were-weren't they?" you pulled away just enough to look up at Asmo. The poor man nearly choked on the remorse that filled him at the sight of your tear-filled eyes pooling with sadness, despair, and, most disturbingly, acceptance. "Y-You guys are breaking up with me? You-You finally realized you could d-do better than a-a-a-" you tried to continue but became too overwhelmed with emotion as you began sobbing once more. Satan rushed forward and placed a hand on your shoulder. "MC, hold on. We're not breaking up with you." You hiccupped as the others began to crowd around you. "B-But Asmo said you guys wanted to talk and I-I thought that maybe th-those other demons were right and y-you guys didn't want me anymore." With those words alone, you had shattered the hearts of every person in that room. In seconds, you found yourself in the middle of a group hug.
No one said anything. They simply wrapped you up in their arms and supported you as wept. Although they had been seconds away from tearing into each other moments before, none of that mattered if you were hurt. You would forever be their first priority. "Beloved, we love you exactly the way you are," Lucifer whispered softly as one of his hands caressed your back. "Whatever those simpletons said, they're wrong. They don't know you; just like they don't know us." Belphie was running a hand through their hair, hoping that his influence would help calm you a little. "If we could, you know that we would tear apart every person who ever spoke badly against you," he could feel his anger towards the idiots that caused this build-up again inside him. Satan nudged Belphegor's side and gently shook his head. The youngest demon sighed and rested his head on top of yours. "Even we aren't strong enough to control city gossip. We can't change what they think, necessarily, but we can make sure that you know that it's not true." You trembled in their arms as your cries slowly dwindled down to the occasional sniffle. "Th-They said that you guys were only dating me o-out of pity and that I was nothing compared to you, a-and how I was jus-just a nuisance," you whimpered as you recalled the hurtful words. "A-And I know that's not true. It was so stupid because I know you g-guys love me. B-But it made me r-realize just how insignificant I am compared to a-all of you. I d-don't understand wh-why all of you would settle for a human who won't live nearly as long as you, and w-who can't even use magic." Mammon frowned deeply as he squeezed one of your shoulders. "Treasure, look at me," you shakily did as told. Mammon was staring down at you with a desperate, anxious expression. His eyes found yours and your breath hitched at the intensity of his gaze. "Those assholes don't know what they're talkin' about. You're not insignificant. Even here in the Devildom, surrounded by all these different beings, you are so much higher above them. You're the brightest jewel among us MC. You're the only person to have ever formed pacts with all seven of the Lords of the Devildom. You're the ambassador of the human world. You have brought this family closer together in just over a year than anyone has managed in the centuries that we've been alive." Your lip quivered as Levi rubbed your arm. "He's right. I'm the literal embodiment of envy. I can tell you right now that all those people are just saying those things because they're jealous. They're nothing but low-level slimes. But you? You're the big boss that could have them destroyed with a snap of your fingers." Beel looked down at you guiltily as he patted your back. "I shouldn't have left you alone like I did. Even more so, I should've paid closer attention to what was happening around us. I'm sorry you ever had to go through this MC." You released Asmodeus to hug Beelzebub as you snuggled close to him. "It's not your fault, Beel. They were really careful about it when you were around. You couldn't have known," the redhead didn't say anything, he just bent down to envelop you in his arms. The eight of you stood there in the dining room, nestled closely with one other, taking silent comfort in one another without a single care for the world around you. "I think perhaps we should move this to the living room," Asmodeus offered as the boys began to release you from their hug. "Beel can make some snacks, Levi can find us a good movie to watch, Belphie can go gather a bunch of blankets and pillows and the rest of us will stay with you to make sure you don't get too lonely," he cupped your face. "I think a nice lazy day in would be good for everyone. Does that sound good, Beautiful?" I chuckled tearfully and leaned into Asmo's touch. "That sounds perfect. You guys are so nice to me. I don't deserve-" You never got to finish your sentence as Asmodeus captured your lips with his own. With that one kiss, you could feel your worries and doubts melt away as you could feel every ounce of affection,
desire,
and love that Asmodeus felt for you pour into your very being. "That's where you're wrong, dear," he purred softly against your lips. "It is us who don't deserve you," he gave you a gentle kiss on the forehead before taking your hand into your own and leading you to the living room. He looked over his shoulder and smirked at his brothers. "Go gather the things. We'll just keep the couch warm while you're at it," you could hear the wink in his tone. "Oi! I want a kiss too!" "Y-Yeah, Asmo! You can't hog MC! That's not fair!" You giggled at Mammon and Levi's protest as you snuggled up to Asmodeus. You were so silly to think for even a second that these demons who follow you around like love-sick puppies would ever tire of you for a second. You were their everything, and they were yours, and nothing anyone said would ever change that.
***And scene! That was a wild ride, but I hope you all enjoyed it! Thank you for supporting me with this mini-series and thanks once again to @ang3lsblues for the request that inspired it all!***

Chapter 15: A Clan of Three
Warnings: really bad depression and mourning in the beginning, mentions of large amounts of death and violence, and injury.
Author’s Note: Almost to the end! I hope you enjoy! I also went a bit off canon for this one, so I hope that’s ok!

Your walk down in the sewers was….. indescribable.
You felt like the opposite of a ghost. You weren’t a soul roaming the sewers, you were just a body. Only the physical means of you survived this long, and the remaining piece of your soul was left behind with your Mandalorian.
So much so, that you didn’t even know where you were going. You presumed a way out was the end goal, but you didn’t even think about it. You stared at the floor for what felt like hours, sniffling and trying to find your breath.
You hadn’t felt like this before. Not even when Mando figured out who you were…. because he was there.
You didn’t care if he was bloodied, bruised, half dead, or had a physical ailment for the rest of his life that forced you and only you to carry him for the rest of your days….. you just wanted him here.
The kid seemed to be having the same feelings of numbness and shock that you did. His emotions were completely blocked from you and you could tell he didn’t want you to know what he was actually thinking. You couldn’t blame him, your walls reached their peak once more when you felt Mando squeeze your hand one final time.
How did you even get here? Weren’t you trained to always put the mission first? Why did all of your rational and strategic thoughts go out the window as soon as Mando ate with you the first time?
You wanted to go back in time and tell yourself to look at him for even a second longer. Ask him a stupid question one more time. Just one glimpse would tie you over enough to at least speak again.
“I uh… I made the IG promise to bring him,” Cara said at one point, but you didn’t even react.
You were grateful for her trying to lift you up when mere minutes ago she thought you were the reason everything went wrong, but it felt as if it wasn’t even worth it to hope that Mando was alive. Not when there was a chance he could be dead.
You thought about turning back one too many times, but you couldn’t betray Mando like that.
He asked for a warrior’s death… and he got one.
The child started acting funny and crying in your arms, and you tried to sooth him.
“It’s ok little guy,” you whispered into his ear, trying to keep your burning throat at bay. “We have to get out of here, ok?”
But it was no use. The kid wouldn’t stand still.
You almost let your frustration with him get the better of you, until you felt it.
The tiniest, faintest tingle crawling up your spine, causing your brain to echo danger throughout the rest of your body.
Something’s coming.
You spun around, eyes widening as you scanned your surroundings. Your eyes were wide and your heartbeat quickened.
You didn’t know if you had another fight in you.
Cara saw your quick movement and spun around as well, using her flashlight to illuminate the tunnel.
“What is it?” Karga asked, and you slowly but surely heard footsteps approaching.
You wiped your tear stained face and took your longspear from its holder on your back.
Mando wasn’t here. You had to take care of the child, and dying in a sewer underneath an Empire base wasn’t the way you wanted to go.
The form of IG-11 appeared through the faint shine of Cara’s light, and you expected to be disappointed.
You expected him to apologize for your loss and be on his way.
But, a limping form of shiny metal was right beside him, and you felt yourself enter your body once more.
The feeling was almost euphoric. If this was the only blessing the universe could give you in your whole life, you would be a damn happy woman.
Cara instantly ran to him to help him stay up, but your shock and joy only allowed your body to drop your longspear and stay frozen in place.
The child squealed slightly in your arms, and that was the noise that made it real.
This was real. He was here.
Not even a second after Cara helped prop him up did you run to his side, slightly slowing down once you got to him, and collide with his chest.
You felt the tears of pure joy start exiting your eyes, and you couldn’t help but laugh at the small puff of air Mando released when your chests collided.
“Easy,” he chucked out, and you laughed into his armored neck, only squeezing tighter. He rubbed your back with his free arm as you sobbed happily into his neck, and the child tapped Mando’s chest slightly with happy giggles.
You finally pulled away to place your hand on the side of his visor, framing the helmet, and looked into his eyes.
You were stuck in an Emperial sewer, beaten and bruised, with virtually no way out in sight….
…but this wasn’t the last time you would look into his eyes, and that was enough.
“Sorry to.. break up the reunion… but we are kinda stuck,” Karga finally stated, and you let out a breathy laugh with Mando following with one as well.
You kissed his cheek, and then lifted his arm over your shoulders while your free arm reached around his back to help Cara move him down the hallways.
It felt good to finally help Mando up, after the many times he had helped you. Even in the horrible circumstances you were in, you couldn’t keep the smile off your face.
“Do you know which way to go?” Cara asked Mando, referring to the coverts he had lived in before.
“No, I don’t know these tunnels,” Mando admitted, the child still managing to giggle in your arms.
“If we follow the smell of sulfur, it will lead us to the lava river,” Karga said.
“The Imps will catch us before we make the ship,” Mando said, and you couldn’t help but agree.
“We need the Mandalorians to escort us to safety.”
You could tell Mando was using his helmet to search for tracks, and you could feel his body becoming stronger. So much so, that he started standing and walking on his own.
You felt more relieved than you could even explain. Your “partner in crime” of sorts was back by your side, and it felt damn good.
The group was moving faster, until Mando stopped abruptly after turning down a corridor.
A huge pile of Mandalorian armor and helmets was laying on the floor in front of Mando, and he dropped to his knees.
You knew what this meant…. the Empire had taken an entire covert of Mandalorians down. This was Mando’s family, and the Empire had plucked them off their list as if they were nothing.
“We should go,” Cara said, trying to be gentle for Mando’s sake.
“You go. Leave the ship. I can’t leave it this way,” he said, and the familiar pain in his voice was returning.
You bowed your head slightly, trying to show respect to the warriors in the little time you had to stay there. You had fought Mandalorians before, and they were some of the fiercest people you had ever met. They deserved better than this.
“Did you know about this?” Mando asked Karga, and you could hear the venom returning to his voice.
“Is this the work of your bounty hunters?” Mando said, getting more into Karga’s face. The anger in Mando was strong and dangerous. If the group started fighting each other, there was no way any of you were making it out alive.
“It was not his fault,” a voice said from behind you, and a woman Mandalorian appeared from the shadows.
She was taller, but lean and built. She looked strong and tough, but you could feel her mourning as well.
“We knew what would could happen if we left this place. The Imperials arrived shortly thereafter,” she said, referring to when the covert revealed themselves to save Mando.
He had very briefly explained how he got the kid off of this planet before, but you didn’t realize an entire covert of Mandalorians revealed themselves. You were surprised the Empire didn’t wipe them out sooner.
“Did any survive?” he asked the woman.
“I hope so. Some may have escaped off world,” she responded.
Mando took a moment to think, before looking up at her and saying, “come with us.”
“No,” she said instantly. “I will not abandon this place until I have salvaged what remains.”
She began to gather up pieces of armor from the pile and holding them above large blue flames.
“Show me whose safety deemed such destruction,” she asked, and everyone turned to the child in your arms.
“This is the one,” Mando said, gesturing to the now sleeping child.
You tried to keep your face neutral, looking down at the child, but all the eyes on him scared you. This woman was in deep grief, you could feel it, and that made people react in very rash ways. If she felt that Mando was at fault for the pain she had….
“This is the one that you hunted, then saved?” she asked, and the confusion in her voice was slightly comical.
“Yes,” Mando responded. “The one that saved me as well.”
“It looks helpless,” she said.
“It is injured, but not helpless,” Mando responded. “We think he has the powers of a Jedi.”
“Ah, yes, Jedi,” the woman responded, and your heart tightened with fear. If she knew about Jedi, then she had to know what you once were.
“The songs of eons past tell of battles between Mandalore the Great and the Jedi.”
“Are they an enemy to us?” Mando asked cautiously, and you could feel the protective emotions he felt towards his creed and his people.
“No,” she said. “Its kind were enemies, but this individual is not.”
She looked at the child once more. “It is a foundling. By Creed, it is in your care.”
Mando tightened, as did you.
“You have no choice. You must reunite it with its own kind.”
“Where,” Mando asked.
“This you must determine.”
“You expect me to search the galaxy for the home of this creature and deliver it to enemy sorcerers?” he asked, and you couldn’t help the faint grin on your face at his bluntness.
“Until that time, or it comes of age, it is in your care,” the woman said.
“You are as it’s father,” she said, and your eyes widened.
Mando was a father?
If Mando was the kid’s father….. what does that make you?
“And you,” the woman says, looking at you straight on. Your head popped up to meet her gaze, trying to hide the timidity and wonder in your eyes.
“You have helped?” she asks, and you glance at Mando with your eyes for less than a second before meeting the woman’s gaze again.
“Yes,” he responded for you, registering that you were asking for his help. Normally, you didn’t like when people talked for you, but this was Mando’s department, and you didn’t want to speak incorrectly for him.
“She keeps the child safe, same as I do,” Mando says, looking at the woman with confidence.
You grin slightly, looking at the child once more.
“Well then… if you so choose… you are a clan of three,” the woman says, and your eyes snap back to Mando, who is already looking at you.
You had heard about the Mandalorian clans. They treated each other like family, and fought till the death for each other. It had been something you had never had before, but if you were going to do it with anyone, it would be with Mando.
This thought boosted your confidence, and you gave Mando a slight nod of your head, showing that you want this. You want him.
Mando nods back, and says, “Yes. If that is possible.”
You feel the blush creep up your face, and even if you were in a dark and shadowy room, everyone could see it.
You were in his clan. His family. You wanted to jump for joy and squeeze into Mando’s arms once more.
“You have earned your signet,” the woman said, affixing the mudhorn signet to Mando’s right arm.
“You are a clan of three.”
You felt the happy tears creep up again, but you blinked them away. Trying not to ruin the moment.
“Thank you,” Mando stated. “I will wear this with honor.”
You were convinced you had never been happier. The day started with Kuiil dying, fighting for your life, and Mando almost dying, but you made it through. You made it to right here.
You bowed slightly to the woman.
“Thank you,” you said. “I am honored.”
“The honor is mine,” she says to you.
You smiled up at her, enjoying the butterflies in your tummy and the happiness in your eyes.
You had everything you ever wanted… now, you just needed to get out.

I'm home in your arms

Characters:
Bucky Barnes x Girlfriend!Reader
Summary:
Bucky always comes to visit you, but this time, he asked you to come over to his place. Upon your arrival at his apartment, you found him sad and emotional.
Warning:
Fluff
When Bucky called you to ask you to come over to his place, you immediately felt something’s wrong with him. He would not ask you to come over in the first place if nothing’s wrong or bothering him. Otherwise, he’ll come to your place like he always does.
At times like this, you would understand why he wanted you to move in with him or he’ll move in with you. You two have been in a relationship for three years now, and secrets have no room between the two of you anymore. You are each other’s family. It’ll be much easier for both of you to comfort each other in times like this if only you are both living under the same roof. But you insisted to still live separately since you two still deserve a little privacy and you two planned to build your own house, and once that dream house is fulfilled, that's when you and Bucky will live together.
When you arrived at his apartment, you used the key which Bucky gave you to enter his place. You did not waste any more time looking for him in other parts of his place, you instantly knew where he is.
The door in his bedroom is slightly opened, you peeked first to see and confirm if he really is there.
You saw him sitting on the edge of his bed, both of his hands, the flesh one and the vibranium one, are on his head. He's looking down that's why you can't see his face, but you could already tell his sadness and his emotional self. You start to wonder what is happening to him and what made him feel this way. There's only one way to find out, so you entered his room. You went up straight in front of him, kneeling to announce your presence, but since your boyfriend is a super-soldier, he must've known your arrival already because of his super-hearing ability.
"Hey," you called him as you kneel in front of him, "What happened?" you asked.
Bucky lets out heavy breathing before he answers you, "I miss my family, y/n," his voice is breaking, and you could tell he's on the edge of crying.
You froze the moment his eyes meet yours.
His eyes are red and full of emotion, full of pain. It has been decades since the last time he saw his family, his parents, and his sister, he's a hundred years old man, but despite the years, he is still longing for them, still hoping that he would be able to talk to them and see them once again. But you know what hurts him the most, the fact that he wasn't there for his sister. His sister died and he didn't know about it because HYDRA erased every bit of his memories.
"I miss them," he sniffles.
"I know," your hands traveled to his nape, pulling him for a hug, which he obliged. He rested his head on your shoulder as his emotions finally show up, tears finally ran down his cheeks.
For the first minutes of your arrival in his apartment, you two remained in that position. You just sat down in front of him, while his head is buried on your shoulder. You didn't want to stop him from letting his emotions out, you thought it can help him ease the pain because the more you suppress your feelings from manifesting, the more pain you'll feel and you will not be free from it.
"Buck, you'll see them again at the right time, at the right place," you spoke, finally breaking the silence between the two of you, "But right now, you're here. You're here with us, with me. We need you here, I need you. I know no amount of words can make you feel better right now, and I know you'll always miss them, but it's alright, my love. It's normal to miss the people we lost but the very best thing to feel their love and presence even though they're gone is through their memories with us."
When your feet and knees start to numb because you've been in that position for so long, you cupped Bucky's face, making him pull away from your shoulder and meet your eyes.
"You want me to stay tonight?" you asked him.
He nodded, "Yeah."
"I figured," you kissed the tip of his nose before you stood up to remove your shoes and your jacket.
When you're left with your white v-neck shirt and your pants, you climbed up to his bed and lay down. Bucky did the same thing, he climbed up to his bed, but when he's about to pull you for a cuddle, you stopped him by grabbing his hand and you are the one who pulled him for a cuddle.
"Come here," you softly said as you pull him towards you.
You guided him on top of you, you rest his head on your chest as you wrapped your hand around his nape, giving it a caress. In that position, you could feel his heartbeat, you could feel his breathing, you could feel him.
"Sometimes, I wish I didn't have to leave my sister for war, maybe I could have a little more time with her," he uttered while resting on top of you, making you feel his vibrations. "I wish HYDRA didn't captured me. I wish I didn't became the Winter Soldier. I wish I lived a normal life."
Somehow, you felt sorry for him for not being able to join his sister in this cruel thing we called life. He should have been with his sister, but war and HYDRA made it so impossible for him to do that. But you knew that if he didn't go through all of that, he wouldn't find his way to you, the two of you wouldn't not be here. Your heart flinched a bit when you realized that Bucky wanted to live his normal life, and it means a life without you.
"Buck, you're also wishing that the two of us shouldn't meet at all."
Your words made him stood up from his position, he moved to your side as he meet your eyes, "No," he shook his head. His hand moved to your cheek, "I would never wish for such a thing. Your existence made me surpass all the odds, all the miseries I've been through. You are the only person that helps me to fight everything. So please, don't ever think that way."
"I know there's no way I could fill the longing and emptiness you feel in your heart because only your family could do that, but I want you to know that I'm here for you. I will do everything in my power to help you in any possible way because.." you caress his cheek and smiles at him, "...because that's how much I love you, Bucky."
He gave you a small smile, "I know, and I'm sorry for making you feel you're not enough reason for me to be happy in this new life I have," he leaned forward to kiss your forehead before he continues talking, "You're more than enough."
"There's something I also need to tell you, Buck," you said.
"What is it?" he asked, a bit frowning.
Before you received a call from him, asking you to come to his place, you're about to take a pregnancy test. You've been feeling sick for the past few weeks, you would throw up, feel dizzy, the food you used to like, you hate it now, and most of all, your period is delayed. You wanted to take the test first before you consult a doctor, but you weren't able to finish the test because you are worried about Bucky.
"Hey," he sensed that you're worried after you told him that you might be pregnant, "You don't have to be scared or worried. We will make this work, and if you're really pregnant, that'd make me the happiest man alive."
When you first had a hunch that you might be pregnant, you got scared initially. You got scared that you and Bucky might not be ready for a very serious situation like this one, but you knew in your heart you will keep the baby once you confirmed you are really pregnant. But now, after you heard Bucky's reaction, all your worries disappeared.
You cupped his face, "You know, maybe you weren't given the chance to be a brother to your sister, but I could tell, your sister wants you to be a good dad," you told him. "Thank you, Bucky. Thank you for not freaking out, and thank you for making me feel better," you added.
He shook his head, removing strands of hair blocking your face, "I should be the one thanking you, my love. You always give me a reason to be happy, to fight, and now you just gave me another one," his hand moved to your belly, "I love you with all my heart. Thank you for being here with me. Thank you for choosing to go through life with me."
That night, you and Bucky ended up endlessly staring at a white rectangular-shaped gadget with two red lines on it.
In 9 months, both of you will be called parents.
Bucky might not be able to fulfill his obligations so his sister, you knew he would make it up to her by being the best dad he could be to your child. From then on, Bucky realized that he won't be able to turn back the time anymore, so he have to live in the present and make the world a better place for his child with you.

... I'm in the mood for angst and shenanigans.
And I want Maven to be happy, and see Elara get her just desserts😈
Thomaven Headcanons FT. The Happy Ending AU.
Elara is LIVID that Thomas is alive, because it distracts Maven more than Mare ever did.
She has him thrown in a dungeon in Silent Stone in it. Maven goes to visit a couple hours later to find Thomas breathing lightly and not moving, cold and eyes fluttering shut.
Maven pulls him out if there and gets him to his room, and Thomas is right as rain, though he is a little annoyed.
Thomas asks if Maven's going to snitch to his mother and try decapitation, and Maven gawks at him, asking why Thomas is being so hostile.
Thomas snaps that Maven's not the same, something that breaks the younger Calore prince, and calls him a monster and a spitting image of what Silvers are, cold, ruthless, and crueler than false hope in Hell. When Maven remains silent, save for a whispered, "How?" Thomas spells it out for him: He killed his father. He ruined his brother's life. He ruined Mare's life. He tried to kill them both, even after all the time he'd spent with them. He tortured and branded Mare. He killed innocent people just for Mare, one of them being a helpless infant. And, to top it off, he has the balls to try running back to Thomas after trying and failing with a girl he'd manipulated and lied to; ran to something new and shiny when the old model didn't satisfy, anymore.
Maven remains absolutely silent, fighting back the urges to scream, to slap Thomas, and to just cry because his head hurts, but only manages, "Get out."
Thomas, still pissed, folds his arms and asks, "Should I ask for an escort or should I show myself the way out?"
They remain silent and Thomas goes to leave.
Maven races to the door and closes it, holding it shut, even when Thomas asks him if he's changing his mind, or if his mother's piloting. Maven asks why he's asking, and how he knows that, and Thomas scoffs that Cal's more observant than Maven and Elara give him credit for.
Thomas tries again to leave, but Maven still holds the door shut and then lunges, wrapping his arms around Thomas, shoulders shaking and breathing ragged.
"I'm so sorry."
Even after everything he did, and with everything he's possibly going to do, Thomas still hugs back, glad to have the boy he fell head over heels for back.
The sentinels find them, but Maven orders them to lock Thomasin in a cell closer to the one Mare was in in King's Cage and that Samos guards be put on watch rather than Arvens.
Maven visits him whenever he's got free time, and Thomas only wants time with him if he stops hunting Newbloods and steps everyone in Corros free, Silvers and Newbloods. Maven tells him it's too much of a political risk, and Thomas replies that he'd better look for a new toy, because this one has a higher price than Mare.
The Scarlet Guard causes so much more headaches for Maven, which are relieved by Thomas, who gets more open when there aren't more Newbloods being captured and killed.
Thomas becomes Maven's anchor, and it's funny to Thomas, in an ironic way, to see a Silver king cry; he's never seen a Silver cry.
Elara sees Thomas as a pure hinderence and wants to kill him.
She ordered an Arven to beat the living daylights out of him, which Maven had no idea of until she had him sit next to her and watch on the cameras.
He kept his composure, but when he met up with a slightly bloodied and bruised Thomas later, he took Thomas in the bathroom and the two broke down, Maven apologizing because he didn't know and Thomas just done with the fact he's like this; he should be dead, but he isn't, Maven's on the throne and not his brother or father, Elara's a bitch with a capital B, and they can't even leave because Elara with kill them both, he's sure of it.
It's here Maven comes up with a plan.
Elara plans and tries locking him in Corros, but no one can find him, not even Maven.
She does look around in his head and finds nothing, but Samson, not convinced, decides to rummage around instead while Maven sleeps; he makes him remember, but forces him to stay asleep.
Turns out he was half lying because Samson finds a memory of Maven leading Thomas through a servant passage and let him run free from there.
And it turns out they kissed, as well.
You would not BELIEVE how angry Elara was when Samson told her.
Maven locked himself in a silent stone cell and held the keys on him so no one could let him out, or get inside his mind and make him kill Thomas.
Samson does order guards to drag Maven out, but Elara tells him to take a hike so she can be alone with her son.
She knealt on the ground by the cell door and watches as Maven lies on his side, his hands over his ears, and his back to her as he's curled up as tightly as he can be.
She asks him to talk to her, and Maven asks her why she did it, why she screwed him up so badly. Tiberias loved Cal as much as Elara loved Maven, but he never scrambled Cal's brain to make him who he was, so why did she do it if she loved him so much? Elara reiterates that she does love him, as he's her only son, thank goodness, and wanted to make him the best person he could be.
Maven snaps and turns to face her on his knees so they're at eye level. Is love hating who your child is so much you have to literally change them from the inside out? Is love taking every chance they had at happiness to better suit your desires? Is love making you hate the few people you were close with so they never leave your side? Maven doesn't know a lot about love, but he knows that NONE of that counts as it.
Elara barks that he's being a child, that he's forgetting everything she did for him to get him where he is now; he's the King of Norta, what greater honor is that?
Maven asks what honor that is for Elara, to know that her son, Maven of House Merandus, is the one on the throne. It could have been anyone in House Merandus, but it was her son that had the throne, so that was something to rub in her family's face, and it must've felt even better to know she got the throne even after cheating and murdering her way through Queenstrial and to Tibe's side.
Elara shouts, "SILENCE!" and the two fall silent, Maven resting against the wall, his side to her, as he murmurs brokenly that she made him a murderer. The infant and boy he killed were children, innocents that never deserved to be hunted for existing. He chuckles that in a way, he's just like Elara. He's killed, he lied his way to the throne, and he destroyed anyone and everyone in his path.
Elara is silent, only staring at him, before reachimg a hand through the bars and asking him to come out so they can talk face to face, and then he can have whatever he wants.
Maven only wants one thing and he's not leaving until she gives it to him:
He wants his memories and feelings back. He wants his love for Cal back, he wants his dreams back, even if it results in his nightmares returning as well, he wants his love for Tibe back, whatever sliver there was so he can feel a fraction of what Cal's feeling, he wants to care about Mare without the urge to keep her locked up and chained to his side, because she loves Cal, and he wants his memories of Thomas back, the ones from before the fire that made him think he killed the first person he ever unconditionally loved, the person he helped run so Elara wouldn't take him away, too.
He wants off the throne, too. He wants to disappear without a trace and not strings attached. He wants to leave, and doesn't want his mother to follow him; she's done enough for and to him.
Elara, trying to stifle a chuckle, asks if he thinks disappearing is possible for him. If he tells the truth, they'll both be executed, and it'll be an arm's race for someone to take the throne. Norta needs a King, and Maven can't leave until there's another worthy successor for the throne, which won't happen anytime soon because Cal's gone and Anabel's not coming within a mile radius of Elara. Maven snarks that Volo Samos can have the throne, seeing as he wants it almost as badly as Elara does(now that I think about it, they'd make a great and terrible couple). Elara raises an eyebrow and gives a bitter laugh and smile, asking Maven if he really wants Volo Samos, the one person who was hell bent on getting Evangeline to be Queen, who is so set in his own Silver beliefs that he's planning on abdicating, if Maven doesn't prove to ne worth backing.
When Maven remains silent, Elara's smile drops and she holds her hands and forehead against the cell bars, practically begging him to think about what he'll do next, so she doesn't lose him; regardless of how Maven feels about her, Elara loves her son to Hell and back. She's not exactly close to her family, so Maven's all she really has. If he dies, she has nothing.
This sentiment is left with silence, even as Elara takes the hint and stands, walking away to leave.
At least until Maven stands up and walks up to the bars, which fills Elara's twisted, fucked up cavity where her heart should be with joy.
It goes away when she sees the glare Maven gives her, colder than ice and more pissed off than Ptolemus protecting Evangeline.
"Stay away from all of them, Mother. Cal, Mare, Thomas, and every Newblood from here to Montfort. If you hurt them, any of them, I'll leave this palace, and Norta. I'll disappear and make sure you will never see me again."
Elara, out of pure parental instinct, calls his bluff; he cares about that Newblood rat he cooked extra crispy too much. Maven pulls out a gun he's been hiding in his coat and shoots at the ceiling before holding it against his temple; "Try me."
There are tears in Maven's eyes, and they roll down his cheeks. Elara may be evil and a bitch, but she's still his mother and he will always live her.
She leaves for real and neither see each other for a few days. At all. Maven's ordered the servants to say he's nowhere to be found, when asked and it drives Samson crazy and further breaks Elara's heart(GOOD!).
She 'finds' Maven at the breakfast table about a week later, and he's so reserved he won't even let her hug him or come near him. He won't let her in his mind either because he's wearing a silent stone manacle on his wrist. They eat, making little small talk, until they're both done and sit in silence for a long time, still affected by the last conversation they had.
Maven concedes to staying on the throne, but only until there's another candidate who can take his place, and as long as Elara puts back the pieces she took from him, even what he asked for her to cut out. Elara hates that, but agrees, noting that Maven is hiding a weapon; he's never been such a loose canon, so she'd best be careful.
Hypothetically speaking, the series plays out with Elara 'fixing' Maven before leaving for Corros and never returning(Mare's fault), Thomas realizing Maven's a goner without his psychopath mother to shield him, and the gang at a pure shock and awe loss for what to do when Maven not only revokes his father's measures, but also bans anyone from harming any Newbloods or Ardents, lest they end up dying instead.
Samson does try ruling through Maven, but Mavey wears a silent stone manacle to keep him out.
Time jump to after everything goes crazy and calms down, and Maven and Thomas meet back up and hug, glad the other is alive.
FLUFF TIME!!!!
They find a place Thomas discovered and that becomes their home.
They share a bed, and thank goodness because Maven cannot sleep alone after what's happened.
Thomas has to teach Maven how to cook and clean.
He often calls Maven a child or a baby, both because he doesn't know how to cook and clean and because he's younger than Thomas.
Maven doesn't wear his flamemakers as much, because he doesn't want to burn Thomas again.
Thomas once found Maven napping on the couch and carefully moved so he could sleep next to him.
Roomates? Don't make either of them laugh. Thomas just knew a place and Maven followed.
Thank goodness Thomas isn't allergic to fur, or can't react to it, because Dagger and Violet fall in love with him so fast.
Violet, being the cat brat she is, loves being on Thomas's shoulders.
For all you that need the juicy details, you can usually find Maven on Thomas's lap; it's Maven's guilty pleasure favorite spot and Thomas's best view of Maven, both in and outside of the bed😉
Maven, after getting fixed by his mother(the ONLY good thing she did), can't fall asleep unless he's either holding something or in Thomas's arms.
Cute, friendly, just for fun wrestling matches, either over who has to get up to do chores or who has the remote, that ends with Thomas on top of Maven and the two kissing, because love.
Dagger breaks it up for Violet's sake.
Maven REFUSES to be carried places.
Thomas often pulls a 'Cal' mlve and holds things over Maven's head, just to see angry puppy Maven. It's so adorable.
Things they NEVER joke about: food that's as burnt as Thomas, things that are as broken as Maven(the pieces are put together, but the cracks are still there), who'd be a better ruler, murder, marriage and betrothal, and just all the negative things that they went through.
They DO talk about those negative things, and try to argue as little as possible; neither can stand the sound of yelling, period.
They can stand recovered reruns of Game of Thrones, surprisingly.
Cal's more than happy to have his brother back and see him happy as can be with Thomas at his side.
Maven's so surprised Cal, Evangeline, and Ptolemus abdicate the throne.
After holding Thomas's hand, he has no regrets or fears.
Super private wedding. Only Cal, Mare, and a handful of people are invited, and that's it.
Maven finds his mother's grave and tells her he's happier than he can remember. He thanks her for helping him, and for helping him be with Thomas, who he can't imagine living without.
He apologizes for everything he said to her and hopes her well enough, wherever she is(we ALL know she ain't doing well😈.).
You know that meme with the dog sitting around a bunch of plants and saying, "This is fine?" Imagine that, but with Maven staring out a window as it rains with Thomas behind him, Dagger next to Maven and getting back pets, Violet snuggled up in Thomas's neck, and Thomas and Maven enjoying some tea; this is not fine, this is perfect.

Juke fluff, right this way (based on this post)
you’re music to me (now on AO3)
“So, how come you guys are always here?”
Julie was staring down at her latest doodle, contemplating adding some more purple to bring out the details, when the question popped into her head. She had been wondering for a while now why the boys weren’t using more of their supernatural ghostly powers to their advantage, and figured that now was as good a time as any to ask.
It was a Saturday afternoon, and both Reggie and Alex had disappeared off to wherever they liked to spend their free time. Whenever they weren’t practicing, the boys usually found ways to entertain themselves, mostly at the expense of the other members of the Molina family.
Luke on the other hand, could usually be found either in the studio cooped up writing new lyrics, or hanging out with Julie in her bedroom (although even then, he would still have his notebook on him, jotting down words and melodies as inspiration struck), as was the current case.
Julie and Luke were sitting cross legged across each other on Julie’s bed; Julie doodling on a school notebook, and Luke working on a particularly difficult bridge for a new song they were hoping to premiere at their next gig in a few weeks.
So when Julie had asked Luke her question and she wasn’t directly met with an answer, she had just figured that he was busy writing down new ideas in his song book. But when the silence stretched longer than was usual for Luke, Julie finally looked up and noticed him staring at her with an odd expression on his face.
“What? Did I say something? What’s wrong?”
“Do you- do you want m- us to leave? I- I mean we thought you were fine with us living here, what with the band picking up and- But of course, if you want us to leave, that’s completely fine. The boys’ll understand and-“
“No! No that’s not what I meant at all!” Julie’s eyes got incredibly large, as she realised how her words must have been perceived. She frantically shook her head, her ponytail whipping at her cheeks with the movement, as her hands, covered in smudges of colourful ink reached out to rest on his knees.
“No, Luke. Of course I don’t mind you guys staying here - I really do like- love having you guys around. I just meant- I mean you guys can literally teleport anywhere, do anything, and not have to worry about getting caught. But as far as I can tell, you guys just hang around here all the time, or meet up with Willie every now and then at some random celebrity’s house.” Julie pulled her hands back in her lap, shrugging. “I don’t know, I guess I was just wondering why?”
She could see him visibly deflating, the odd expression on his face having morphed into a more composed look. He let out a breath, tapping his pen loudly against the pages in front of him with one hand, while the other rubbed at the back of his neck.
“Yeah, we- I mean we just haven’t felt the need to do anything else, I guess? When we first got here, we explored all of our old haunts,” insert smirk here, “checked out some of the new music that’s been taking over the scene - we even went to a few concerts.” He shrugged, his hand coming back down to rest on his knee. “But nothing’s really pulled at us enough to seriously want to leave for any extended period of time.”
She found that quite strange. Here she was talking to the boy who told her that their instruments were attached to their souls, and he was simply shrugging at the idea of being able to go to any concert anywhere, for free, without any consequences.
“You’re telling me you’re not even interested in checking out some of the older bands you guys were really into? Attend some of the concerts you always wanted to go to but couldn’t because they were on the other side of the country? Of the world?” She could hear how dubious she was starting to sound, but she couldn’t help it. None of this made sense.
Luke tilted his head to the side as he looked at Julie with a look that made it seem she was missing the obvious.
“But you wouldn’t be able to come with us? Where would the fun be in that?” He smiled at her, a small glint in his eyes. She rolled hers at him in return.
“Ha ha, very funny. Seriously, Luke, aren’t you, for lack of a better word, dying to go see certain people, certain bands, live? For free?”
He shrugged again, seeming unbothered by her line of questioning.
“Not really. I haven’t really felt any pull to check out new music in a while. I’ve been more excited about the stuff we’ve been making anyway.” He paused, playfully tapping her knee. “Plus I’m not sure I’d be able to properly enjoy a concert if I knew you couldn’t be there. Not as fun.”
She stared at him, wondering if his sanity had been touched.
“Not as fun? Really? I hope you realise you’re not making any sense. You know damn well that having Reggie with you alone would be enough. He’s the life of every party, dead or alive.”
She heard him snort, his head bending back down as he prepared to refocus his attention on the song book in his lap.
“I don’t know, Julie. It’s hard to explain. I just-“ He stopped himself mid-sentence, suddenly seeming to be too engrossed by the words on the pages in front of him. Only she knew better.
She put her notebook aside, and crawled across the tiny space between them, coming to rest on her folded knees right in front of him. She put her hands on his, stilling the tapping of the pen, and covering the words on the pages. She patiently waited for him to finally look up, focusing his attention back on her.
“Luke, you know I’d never hold it against any of you guys if you were to go and have fun without me. You guys deserve it - all you do is hang around here, unless we’re playing a gig somewhere. You should be enjoying your afterlife, not spending it constantly practicing or writing new songs or worrying about our next gig. Live a little!” He was frowning throughout her speech, but she could see the corners of his lips twitching a little at her choice of words.
He stayed quiet though, just staring at her, his eyes searching for something on her face. What it was he was looking for, she couldn’t tell you.
But after a few minutes of silence, he took a deep breath, tilting his head backwards as he closed his eyes, his hands twisting around, threading his fingers through hers.
“It’s not that I- that we would feel guilty, Jules. We’re happy with the way things are here. And to tell you the truth, I haven’t really felt the need to look for new music for a while now - what we create, you and me and the boys, it keeps changing and shifting and surprising me everyday.” He sighs, bringing his face back down, his eyes opening as they centred back on hers. In a softer tone, he continued. “Why would I go looking for something else, when everything I need is right here?”
She had a feeling he wasn’t just talking about music anymore.
“Why would I want to go searching for something else Jules, when I’ve already found the best? Something that I have right here, right under my fingertips?” He let go of her hands as he reached for her face, hers falling limply into his lap. His fingers brushed her cheeks lightly, leaving a trail of goosebumps behind, before they settled under her jaw, cradling her face in his palms. She couldn’t speak even if she wanted to.
“I have no desire whatsoever to go to concerts or look for new music, new talent, when you literally live under the same roof as I do.” His thumbs caressed her cheeks, his face moving closer to hers.
“You are music to me, Julie. As long as you’re in my life, my afterlife, whatever you want to call it, I see no reason in looking for anything, or anyone, else.”
He closed the distance between them, his forehead coming to rest against hers. She could do nothing but stare up at him, eyes wide and mouth hanging slightly open, her mind furiously trying to process Luke’s words.
You are music to me, Julie.
Her heart was beating so quickly, so loudly, it felt like it was about to burst out of her chest and take flight. She tried to focus on her breathing, taking deep breaths to center herself, before she gave up and threw herself into the stunned ghost’s lap. She wrapped her arms around him, and pressed her face into the crook of his neck. With the shock of the impact, Luke lost his balance, sending both teenagers tumbling backwards onto the bed. But even then, all Julie did was press herself closer against Luke, hoping he wouldn’t try to pull away.
To her delight all he did was readjust their position, tucking her head under his chin as he wrapped his arms around her, hugging her tighter against him.
“What did I do to deserve such enthusiasm?” He chuckled, his hands rubbing soothing circles on her back.
Julie just shook her head, her lips moving against his neck. She felt him shiver beneath her, causing her lips to tilt upwards.
They remained in this position for a while, Luke rubbing her back, as Julie continued to breathe in his scent, enjoying this quiet intimate moment with him for as long as possible.
But then she felt Luke shift as he turned to his side, her head softly hitting the mattress beneath her. With their legs still tangled, and her arms still securely wrapped around him, she looked up at him, his face hovering a few inches above hers.
“I just want to try something,” was all he said.
And with that he moved down until his head cane to rest against her chest. His arms snaked around her waist, as he pressed his ear closer to where her heart was currently beating a mile a minute.
With a loud sigh, Luke stilled, remaining in that position. Julie tried to stay quiet, tried to keep her curiosity at bay, but she simply couldn’t.
“Luke, what are you doing? I mean, not that I mind but, is there a reason you moved?” She tugged lightly at his hair, her fingers finding refuge in his soft brown locks.
She could feel him shake his head under her fingers, as he quietly started to hum a melody she couldn’t recognise. His fingers then joined in, tapping along to an unknown beat on her waist. She shifted her head to the side, craning her neck trying to get a glimpse of Luke’s expression.
She could see a smile making an appearance on his face, and could swear she could feel his touch getting warmer, see light emanating from his every pore.
“Luke?”
A beat of silence. He opened his eyes, as he looked at her with a tender look and the softest smile gracing his lips.
“I’m just listening to my favourite song.”
“Oh? What favourite song? I heard you humming it, but I’m not sure I recognised it?”
“No, no. I wasn’t humming the song, I was just adding a little melody as an accompanying piece.”
Julie was thoroughly confused. “I don’t get it. Accompanying piece to what?”
“To my favourite song silly, I already told you. It’s more of a beat, really, but when I’m listening to it I swear I can hear the sweetest sounds in my head.”
When Julie still didn’t understand what in the world he was talking about, that frustrated look refusing to leave her face, Luke took pity on her as he started tapping out the beat on her waist again, demonstrating to her what he meant.
It took her a little while, but once she focused, she realised he was tapping along to her heartbeat. It stuttered at her realisation, and Luke’s fingers followed, not missing a beat.
Oh. Oh.
Her hands tightened their hold on his head as she tugged harder, guiding him back up towards her. She couldn’t hold it in anymore, refused to hold it in anymore. Once he was at her eye level, close enough she could feel his breath on her lips, she whispered-
“I love you.”
The brightest smile she had ever seen took over Luke’s face, his eyes shining as they competed against the brightness of his smile. His hands reached up, cradling her face again as he whispered back against her lips:
“You are music to me now, you are music to me forever.”
Forever. She liked the sound of that. If she could somehow manage to keep him for that long, it might just be enough.

Y/N’s point of view:
I glanced over at the young man next to me, who was clutching his injured hand. I sighed. “Ethan, you really should be more careful. You and I both know that these Lords want nothing more than to have us both dead. If she really wanted to, she could’ve killed you in an instant.” I lectured. “I know, I know. I’m sorry.” He apologized.
“Just next time, be more careful. I really don’t feel like coming back to seeing you lying dead on the floor.” I whispered. “I promise that won’t happen. I have to get you to safety and have to get Rose back. I will be damned if those things don’t happen.” He growled.
Slowly, the platform came to a stop, which allowed us to see the winter storm descending onto the ground. “I wonder if Lady Dimitrescu can come out here... I mean, her daughters cannot come out.” I muttered. “I don’t know, but I don’t want to find out. Come on, I think we can find something around here.” Ethan suggested as he walked off of the platform. I slowly followed behind him.
“How did you even end up in this mess? I know you’re here for you daughter, but how did Mother Miranda even get your daughter?” I asked. He looked down. “Someone I thought was a friend caused this. I don’t know where he was bringing me and my daughter, but we crashed on the outskirts of the village. I wish I could answer that question better, but even I don’t know what’s going on.” He answered.
“That makes two of us. I thought Mother Miranda was supposed to guide us, and keep us safe. But then those... Those damned lycans came into the village, and it hasn’t been the same since... Almost everyone’s dead in the village, other than me and that old lady.” I muttered. “Why did everyone look up to Mother Miranda?” Ethan asked.
“I’m not entirely sure, other than I think it might’ve been her power. If I’m not mistaken, she was the one that created this village. And since we haven’t had contact with any outsiders, none of us know anything about what’s really going on.” I explained. “I don’t think the Lords even know what’s going on.” I added.
“Hence why I’m coming with you. I want revenge against Mother Miranda for what she did to us. i don’t care if she wants some child back, it doesn’t make it right to take all these people’s lives away from them and kidnap another child.” I grumbled. He chuckled. “Then I’m glad to have you on my side, and not against me... A lot of the remaining villagers were against me.” He spoke.
“Not going to lie. I was kinda skeptical of you at first. I mean, it’s not every day that a mysterious man comes into the village to look for his daughter.” I pointed out. “Eh, you have a point there.” Ethan agreed. “Oh! Here it is. I found the key to get back into the main floor of the castle.” I called out as I moved the bush and picked the key up.
“Are you sure we should go back in?” He questioned. “It’s the only way. Lady Dimitrescu seems to be one of Miranda’s favorites, so she’d be the one to have Rose or know where Rose is.” I explained as I stood up. “So come on. It seems like we have little time to waste.” I added as I made it to the door.
I stuck the key into the door and turned it around until I heard a click. I opened the door and cautiously poked my head in. “No sign of Dimitrescu or any of her daughters.” I announced as I walked in. “That’s some good news. Where should we go?” Ethan asked. “Let’s go over to the angel statues. I think we need to do something with them to move forward.” I explained as I approached them.
I glanced over at the plaque. “Mask the angels blinded gaze, and only then will you be saved.” I read aloud. “Some kind of puzzle?” Ethan asked, “Yes. It seems we have to find 4 masks, to fit all 4 of these angels.” I concluded. He groaned. “We’re going to be here a while, aren’t we?” He asked. “Of course we are. But all that means, is we should get moving.” I decided, as I turned back around and marched to the staircase.
“We haven’t finished looking upstairs, so that’s where we need to go.” I decided. “Wait! Slow down.” Ethan ordered. I stopped and glanced at him. “We have to be more careful. We don’t know where Lady Dimitrescu is.” Ethan whispered. “Don’t worry, I’m already here.” A feminine voice rang. My head shot in the direction to see her standing on the other side of Ethan.
“I will make you pay for what you did to my daughters!” She exclaimed as she lifted her hand up. Claws grew from her fingertips as she got ready to swing. “Ethan, watch out!” I called out. Ethan turned to look at her, but couldn’t react in time. So I moved quickly and pushed him out of the way. I was too slow to move out of the way myself, which resulted in her claws hitting my cheek.
I cried out in pain as I stumbled backwards. “Y/N!!!” Ethan cried out. “That was pathetic. You shouldn’t be covering for him!” Dimitrescu angrily called out as she wrapped her fingers around my neck and lifted me off the ground. I struggled to escape her grasp, as I couldn’t breathe. “You humans are all so pathetic and disgusting! He killed my own children, but you still stand up for him!? You’re just as bad as he is!” She yelled as she threw me back into the wall.
A chocked sob left my lips, as the pain spread through my back. “Dammit! Leave them alone!” Ethan exclaimed as he ran past her. He ran to me and kneeled down next to me. “Come on, we need to get you out of here or else she’s going to kill us both.” Ethan ordered, as he grabbed my arm and tried to pull me up. But it just resulted in a cry leaving my lips.
“Fuck.” He cursed. “When I get up there, I am going to rip you both limb from limb.” She threatened, as she got closer. “D-Don’t fucking risk your life for me. You should know by now that I-I’ll get out of here without her killing me. Your primary goal should be t-to find where Rose is while she’s distracted.” I whispered.
“No. I said earlier that I’m going to make sure you’re safe, and to get Rose back. So you’re coming with me.” He ordered stubbornly as he pulled me up. We both limped away from the Lord and make it down the stairs. “If we hide, we can take care of your wounds.” Ethan silently spoke. I nodded slowly. “Get back here! I will not let you get away!” Her voice rang.
But we quickly rushed into the Duke’s room, where Ethan closed the door and sat me down against the wall. “That looks like a nasty wound.” Duke observed. “No shit. Do we have anything for medication?” Ethan asked as he walked over to him. “There are some Herbs and Chem fluid over there. Bandages are over there as well.” Duke explained.
“Why would you do something so reckless??” Ethan questioned as he grabbed the items. “It wasn’t a-as reckless as when you had your hand chopped o-off.” I joked. “You’re literally bleeding everywhere. I don’t think right now is a time to joke.” Ethan muttered as he rushed back to me. “T-There’s no need to be grumpy. I’m alive, aren’t I?” I pointed out.
“But you could’ve not been alive. Y/N, she can cut through your bones. If she wanted to, she could’ve done just that and killed you.” Ethan lectured. “You don’t deserve to be hurt...” I whispered. “What?” He questioned. “I said, you don’t d-deserve to be hurt. You’ve taken a lot of hits for me, and have t-taken a lot of hits in general. I don’t want you to get hurt anymore.” I explained.
His eyes widened slightly. “I-I think your daughter would also like to have you in one piece.” I added. “What about your family? Wouldn’t they want you to be one piece as well?” Ethan asked. I glanced down. “T-They’re dead. Those stupid fucking lycans killed them. So right now, I-I don’t have anyone to be concerned for me.” I explained softly.
“I-I’m sorry... I didn’t know...” He apologized. “But either way, you have someone. You have me. And I swear to god, if you die on me, then I will not be happy.” He warned. I chuckled. “I should’ve expected you to say that.” I muttered. “Yes, because I care for you. So, once we make it out of here together, I was wondering if you’d maybe like to get some coffee sometime.” He offered.
I glanced at him in shock. “B-But don’t you have someone else already?” I questioned. “I did, but we divorced a bit after we had Rose.” Ethan explained as he bandaged up my left eye. I smiled softly. “Sure. I’d love that.” I agreed.
(I hope this was good... This is one of my first RE 8 oneshots of Ethan Winters, so I hope it’s not too bad... Let me know if you guys have any other suggestions of Ethan Winters, or Headcannons of the RE characters. Thank you for reading this!)

Jasonette - A Second Chance Pt. 1
Next
This one-shot contains major character death as well as blood and violence. BTW, to clear up their ages at the beginning of the story.
Alfred: IMMORTAL, MY CHILDREN
Bruce: 44
Dick: 29
Jason: 24
Marinette: 23
Tim: 21
Damian: 14
(Marinette’s POV)
Ladybug had failed all of Paris. She had gone into today’s battle, thinking that she and her partner Chat Noir would work together to defeat Hawkmoth. But, right when she had asked Chat Noir to take Hawkmoth’s miraculous, he froze. He then did the worst thing she could imagine he laughed. Chat then walked up to Hawkmoth while Hawkomth chuckled, “Little Bug, even your partner doesn’t support you anymore. Just give up.”
Ladybug froze, her mind racing. Her partner had betrayed her. He had decided that the cause they had been fighting for the last decade was no longer worth the fight. (I was going to make you’ll do the math, but then I saw I already told you Marinette’s age above, lmao.) She screamed in frustration and then shouted, “ Never!”
Ladybug or Marinette was a great fighter, especially after having been in the superhero gig for so long. But, Chat Noir was also pretty good, and he was allied with both Mayura and Hawkmoth. It was safe to say that the odds weren’t looking well for Marinette. She was growing tired, and Tikki didn’t have much energy left within her.
That’s when it happened, Marinette made a mistake. The next thing she knew, Hawkmoth had her pinned to the ground and had pulled off her miraculous, consequently revealing her identity. Hawkmoth handed over her miraculous to Chat Noir, who put it on. Chat, then turned into a deep purple, and a voice asked him, “What do you wish for, oh young one?”
Chat replied, “I wish for the rebirth of my mom, Emilie Agreste.” Marinette’s heart stopped. Her ex-partner was Adrien Agreste. And if he’s assisting Hawkmoth, that must mean that Hawkmoth is Gabriel Agreste, her idol. Then Natalie Sancoeur must be Mayura. Marinette came to those conclusions in a matter of seconds. But, after a minute, she started feeling sluggish.  She felt her heartbeat slow down. She was so tired. She just wanted to sleep forever. She didn’t feel so good at this point. Through her blurry vision, she saw a woman that looked like Adrien’s Mother appear. As Emilie returned to full consciousness, that’s when Marinette started losing consciousness. The last thing that she heard in a whisper was, “ A life for a life, that was the price.” Before she closed her eyes,  succumbing her body and mind to the darkness that lay ahead.
(Talia POV)
Talia Al-Ghul was expecting a lot of things today. What she was not expecting was to find Paris in a mid-battle, for one of the heroes partners to betray them, the villains winning, and then said hero dying. She looked at the body of the girl that everyone was staring at and thought she didn’t deserve to die like this, plus she might be useful to the league. Talia pulled up her mask to cover her face and then blended in with the shadows. No one actually so her until she grabbed the girl and disappeared. Her actions prompted a lot of commotion back at the battle location.
Talia boarded her plane, carrying the body in her arms. She was slightly worried about the potential effects the Lazarus pit could have on her. She had experienced the worse side-effects, courtesy of one Jason Peter Todd-Wayne. Talia could still remember his screams as he clawed his way out of the Lazarus Pit and started to attack all the assassins with the intent to kill anyone and everyone. They had barely managed to restrain him. She hoped that this girl would not receive similar side-effects. But, based on the amount of trauma and betrayal she held within her like Jason, it would be inevitable.
Once Talia arrived at the league with the dead girl, she walked out of the plane got some bandages. Talia then took the girl, or rather Marinette. She found out from a face scan that pulled up all her legal documents as well as her background information, to her father, Ra’s. Once she arrived before her father, she bowed her head in respect for him.
“Ahhh, daughter, you’ve returned. And who is this you’ve acquired.”
Talia answered, “Her name is Marinette Dupain-Cheng, twenty-three-years-old, and an excellent fighter. She lived in Paris, France, and was the main hero. Today was the final battle, and her partner ended up betraying her, getting her killed in the process.” She then handed over all of Marinette’s legal documentation as well as her background info to her father.
Ra’s looked through it and then asked, “How would she be a useful asset to the league?”
Talia responded, “After what happened with Marinette, she would have a thirst for revenge on the people that wronged her. I’m enunciating that we can use that to our advantage. The only problem is that Marinette carries around a lot of trauma, betrayal, and loneliness like Jason Todd. I’m concerned that she might have the same reaction for dipping in the pit.”
Ra’s nodded, considering the idea and agreeing that a person with the thirst for revenge would be a useful addition to the league.
Talia watched Ra’s, hoping to get an idea of what he was thinking. He then beckoned for her to follow him. He leads her to the Lazarus Pit, and Talia now knew that Ra’s supported her decision. She put Marinette down and wrapped her in bandages before dipping her in the pit. What happens next is alarming.
Marinette has the same reaction as Jason. This time though, everyone was ready. Talia quickly took hold of her and started whispering how she got to her destination and how she came back to life. Unlike Jason, though, Marinette doesn’t have as much of a temper, which helps Talia efficiently calm her down faster. Talia then tells Marinette, “Would you like to be an Assasin and fix those who have wronged you?”
Talia wasn’t asking. They would force Marinette if she refused, but they wanted to be her ally rather than as her foe. But what would she choose?
(Marinette’s POV)
A burning sensation was all Marinette felt. But she was supposed to be dead. So, what was she doing alive she got out of the green ooze that she was inside. Marinette frantically looked around while clawing the bandages on her to get rid of the burning sensation. When it didn’t work, she tried to claw her way out of the goop to ease the burning until someone caught her around her middle. The same person took her out of the green goop and started whispering reassurance in her ear. Marinette relaxed until the women asked a question that would change everything, “Would you like to be an Assasin and fix those who have wronged you?”
The logical side of her brain argued that she shouldn’t yield herself to killing others, that it was wrong. The other side of Marinette’s brain felt hazy from dipping into the ooze. It was also hazy because of her grief, pain, betrayal, trauma, and loneliness argued that revenge was the only way to go. She slowly let the murky part of her brain take over until revenge felt like eating ice cream on a hot summer day, great. She nodded her head in agreement with the proposition. The woman smiled and then introduced herself as Talia Al-Ghul, the demon head’s daughter. She spent the rest of the day explaining everything about the league to Marinette. Talia also explained rules that applied specifically to her. By the end of the day, Marinette had an outfit that she would use on missions and during training. Talia then left Marinette to settle in. Marinette looked around the room and sighed, getting ready for experiencing this every day from now on.
(Four months time skip)
It had been four months since Marinette became a member of the league of assassins. And as expected, she was a valuable member of the order. Her need for revenge drove her to work harder on missions.
One morning, Talia awoke Marinette with some news. “You will be going to Gotham to check on my son, who should be 14 now. You will observe how he communicates with his family, and if there any problems arise, you will assist them. Report back to me every day, understand?”
Marinette nodded, “Yes, Mistress.” Talia nodded back and then left to get the plane ready. Marinette wore her usual assassin outfit.
Marinette then went outside and stood before Talia. Shed waited for Talia to give her to okay to board the plane. Once she did, they both got on and reviewed everything they knew about Damian and the Waynes. By the time they arrived in Gotham, Marinette had memorized the information of every single Wayne. She said goodbye to Talia and tracked down Damian, watching him from afar in the shadows.
(Time Skip of a Week)
It had been a week since Marinette started observing Damian. She had to say that he was growing soft. Although, it had been four years since Damian was under league supervision. Everything was going all right on the bat’s patrol until it wasn’t.
The bat family was fighting some thugs at the docks when a thug snuck behind Damian, or rather Robin, and shot him in the stomach. Damian fell to the ground in pain, but still alive. This action provoked Marinette to let out a deep, feral growl. She then grabbed some of her throwing stars and launched them at the thug, effectively killing him in the process. Her actions lead the bat clan to shift their attention to her. They quickly fought off the remaining thugs. They then walked up to a bleeding Damian and Marinette standing in front of him as if to guard him.
Batman then asked, “Who are you, and why are you here?”
Marinette answered, “My name is Dark Angel. I was sent by Mistress Talia to look after Damian for a little bit and see how he’s fitting in.”
Batman then stated, “You killed the man.”
Marinette shrugged, “It comes with the job description. I’m an assassin. You know, a murderer who targets people that would be better off dead?”
Batman sighed, “Nobody is better off dead.”
Marinette shrugged again, so done with this conversation, “Speak for yourself.”
(Jason’s POV, sorry for the abrupt change)
Jason stared at the woman in front of him, who must be his age. He recognized her behavior from somewhere. Jason suddenly realized where he had seen this behavior before he exhibited this demeanor after he came back to life. That meant that she had died, and Talia was using her want for revenge like the league used his.
Jason asked, no stated, “You died.”
Dark Angel stiffened, “Who wants to know?” Yup, her reaction confirmed his suspicions she had died and was then brought back by the Lazarus Pit. Most likely recently by how raw her emotions still were.
Jason walked up slowly to her and remarked, “You died and later brought back to the Lazarus Pit. You probably have a thirst for revenge. I can see a lot of you in me. I can help you.” He tried to be as gentle as possible, which was hard considering his character.
Dark Angel backed away while shaking her head, frantically", No, you know NOTHING ABOUT ME! YOU DON’T KNOW THE BETRAYAL, THE TRAUMA. YOU KNOW NOTHING!!!“ She then ran away, trying to get away from the Bat Clan.
Jason looked over at Bruce, or Batman, with determination clear, in his eyes, "I’m going to go find her.”
Batman nodded, “Take RR and Nightwing with you. I’m going to take Robin back to the Bat cave, where Agent A can patch him up. Once you find her, bring her to the cave so that we can talk with her.”
Jason then nodded and grappled in the direction that Dark Angel went, with Red Robin and Nightwing following in his wake. After running for a little bit, they caught sight of her blending in with the shadows. They decided to split up to cover more ground. Jason ran as fast as he could along the rooftops when he finally caught sight of Dark Angel. She looked to be crying. When she saw him, she jumped off the roof and opened a portal falling through. Jason jumped after her and barely went through in time. He then fell on top of something and groaned. Jason got up and looked around. He realized that he was standing on the Eiffel Tower, was he in Paris?
(Marinette’s POV)
After Jason or Red Hood confronted her and tried to compare herself to him, she ran. She started crying, the emotions too overwhelming to not cry. Marinette cried for a little bit. But, she then caught sight of Red Hood running up to her. She glared at him and asked Kaakki to open a portal. A week after she had managed to become an assassin, she had returned to her room and got the miracle box back in her possession. Talia had no idea, and Marinette had no desire to tell her.
She jumped through the portal, she landed on the Eiffel Tower, and took a deep breath. Behind her, she heard a loud thud and then a groan. She whipped around to find that the idiot Red Hood had followed her through the portal. She saw him get up and look around before a look of realization spread through his face. Marinette saw him look at her. She quickly ran away. She felt him running after her. But she had a mission, and she wasn’t going to stop until she accomplished it. Marinette’s mission the demise of everyone that ever hurt Marinette.
She ran to the Agreste Mansion and went through Adrien’s open window. She saw him sitting at his computer happily looking at something. That asshole, he killed her and was enjoying life himself. “Adrien,” she crooned sweetly, “How are you? Are you having a good time since you got your mother back by killing someone else?”
Adrien looked frightened, “How do you know that?”
She walked up to him, hips swaying. She then pulled out her dagger and slid her finger across the blade, “I know a lot of things about you. Like how you are a selfish, asshole.” She then pulled him closer to her and put the dagger to his neck. “You deserve to die, slowly and painfully, and I will happily help you.”
Before Adrian could scream for anyone, Marinette had already stabbed him in the stomach where his lungs were. She was going to do his heart or behead him, but that let him off too easy. The look of pure horror etched onto his face as he fell on the floor with blood all over him, and the floor had Marinette smirking. She grabbed the cat miraculous off of Adrien’s finger and the ladybug miraculous off of his ears. She knew that Red Hood was behind her, but she couldn’t care less.
Next, Marinette went looking for Gabriel and Natalie. It looked like Emilie was out right now. So, Marinette wouldn’t kill her. She also didn’t take part in killing her. She found Gabriel and Natalie in the house’s atelier. Once they saw her, they prepared to attack her. But she had already whipped out a gun and had shot both of them. She had tried to shoot them approximately below where their heart was. As Marinette got closer to examine them, she realized that she had damn good aim. The bullets had hit them directly in the area she was hoping. Close enough to kill them, but far enough to cause them pain. Their blood was gushing out of them, and Marinette could tell that they would die. She grabbed the butterfly miraculous and the peacock miraculous. She brought Adrien downstairs to lie next to his family. Marinette then went back into the shadows with Red Hood following her right as Emilie arrived.
Marinette watched as Emilie looked at her dead family and started sobbing. Emilie then took notice of the note next to them.
It read:
THEY TOOK A LIFE, AND NOW I DESERVE TO TAKE THEIR LIFE FROM THEM IN TURN. EMILIE, YOU ARE SPARED BECAUSE YOU TOOK NO PART IN ANYTHING.
~DARK ANGEL
Marinette watched Emilie drop down to her knees and continue wailing while crushing the note in her hand. Marinette watched closely, and she wondered if her parents did the same or if they replaced her like everyone else. She shook the thought off and then went to another house, the house of Liar Rossi.
Marinette her house, and went around it trying to find the liar. She found Lila in her room, practicing her crying. Marinette smirked to herself. She always knew that Lila had to practice crying with how many crocodile tears she let loose every day. She snuck up behind Lila and whispered, “I’ll give you a real reason to cry.”
Lila stopped her tears and turned around, scared out of her mind. “Who are you?”
Marinette snickered, “I’m Dark Angel, or more specifically, you’re worst nightmare.”
Lila started crying again, except this time, her tears weren’t as fake as her life. “PLEASE DON’T HURT ME, I’LL DO ANYTHING! I HAVE A LOT OF INFORMATION ABOUT THIS COUNTRY’S GOVERNMENT!”
Marinette took a knife out and ran it across Lila’s skin, causing a scream out of her, “Here’s the thing, Ms. Rossi. You are extremely selfish. You were willing to sell out your country just like that. Plus, I know you’re lying. It doesn’t take a genius to figure it out. So, here’s the deal, the more you lie, the more I torture you.”
Lila spent the next thirty minutes telling lies. When Marinette knew she would be confessing, she gave Lila’s phone to Red Hood so that he could film her confession. Lila then broke, “OKAY OKAY, I AM SO SORRY!!! I DON’T KNOW ANY OF THE CELEBRITIES I CLAIM I DO. I DON’T HAVE TINNITUS EITHER! MARINETTE DUPAIN-CHENG WASN’T BULLYING ME, I BULLIED HER. I THREATENED HER IN THE FIRST PLACE WHEN SHE FOUND OUT MY LIES AND THREATENED TO TAKE AWAY ALL HER FRIENDS. I SUCCEEDED. I WAS ALSO WORKING WITH HAWKMOTH AND HELPED MAKE ADRIEN WHO WAS CHAT NOIR BETRAY LADYBUG!!! NOW PLEASE DON’T KILL ME!!!”
Marinette sneered and said, “Don’t worry, I won’t kill you.” Lila looked at her in hope until she stabbed Lila in the stomach, saying, “Oops, I lied.”
As Lila died, Marinette went to Red Hood and took the phone from his editing the video before sending it to all of Lila’s contacts. When she sent it to Alya, she asked her to post the video on the Lady blog before watching it. She then looked over at Red Hood, who was looking at her in shock. “Don’t worry, pretty boy. I’m not assassinating anyone else. Just torturing them.”
She then went to each of her classmates’ houses and tortured them, depending on how loyal they were to Lila. The person who Marinette tortured the least was Juleka, and the person that she tortured the most was Alya. Once Marinette had finished torturing all of her ex-classmates, she looked over to Red Hood and said, “Okay, I’m ready to go now.”
Red Hood looked at her, confused, “If you were going to go with me either way, why did you run?”
She shrugged, “Your clan had found me out. I wanted people dead. Plus, I was emotional as hell after your whole speech. I also still need to check up on Damian.”
(3rd Person POV)
Red Hood nodded and beckoned for her to open a portal. Marinette did so, and they both dropped through, ending up in the Bat cave. Their sudden appearance surprised all of the current occupants of the cave. Marinette walked up to Damian and asked him, “Are you okay?”
Damian replied, “Tt, ” and then nodded in affirmation.
Before Marinette could say anything else, Batman told her, “I now want you to explain to us who you are, why you’re here. Got it!” He then gave her the Bat glare in case she wouldn’t listen to him.
Marinette nodded and then spoke, “Hi, my assassin name is Dark Angel. My birth name is Marinette Dupain-Cheng.” A flash of recognition flashed through everyone’s faces. Unbeknownst to Marinette, Hawkmoth had been broadcasting the final battle. Everyone had seen when Hawkmoth had revealed her identity and when she had died. “I was a superhero in Paris. My partner and I were in the final battle when I found out that he had betrayed me and Hawkmoth’s side and was playing me this whole time. The villains won, and they made a wish to revive a dead person. In return, someone else had to die. In this case, it was me. The next thing I know, my whole body feels like it’s burning, and I’m inside of a pit full of green goop. Mistress Talia promised me revenge for the people that had hurt me. I excepted her offer. Since then, I’ve been an assassin for four months now, training every single day for hours. Talia told me to watch your family for a little bit as a mission, which was what I was doing until Damian got shot. You know the rest.”
Red Robin looked at her skeptically, “Where did you and Red Hood go when we tried to find you.”
Marinette looked at Red Hood before carefully answering, “I had some business in Paris, so to speak.”
Nightwing then asked, “And what was this "business” and how the hell did you get to Paris?“
Marinette sighed, rubbing her forehead to ease the throbbing, "You’re not going to let this go, are you?” When she saw everyone shake their head, she answered, “Fine. I was able to get to Paris because I have a miraculous that can open portals.” She showed them the miraculous and then demonstrated it to them. “Once I got to Paris, I committed my revenge. I killed my old partner, Hawkmoth, and Mayura. I also killed a liar who took away everything from me and was also working with Hawkmoth. I also exposed the liar. Finally, I tortured all of my old friends. Yay, I told you everything. Can I go now?”
Everyone looked at her, horrified that she was talking so casually as if she hadn’t just admitted to murderer and torture. Before anyone could say anything, Red Hood shouted, “No!” While taking off his helmet.
Marinette looked at him in irritation, “No? And why fucking not?”
Jason looked over at her, “Because I’m not letting Talia use you anymore.”
Marinette sighed, knowing he was right. Now that she had gotten her revenge, her mind was a lot more clear, and she realized why Talia wanted her to be an assassin in the first place. “Fine, so I’m staying here?” Everyone nodded, still in a daze from everything they just learned.
Marinette shook her head, and Alfred (THE AMAZING GOD THAT HE IS) came into the Bat Cave when Marinette was going to ask someone to lead her upstairs. As Marinette walked upstairs, she hoped that things would work out for her.
(one month time skip)
Marinette had been staying with the Bat Fam or rather Waynes for a month now. She honest to kwami had no idea how they were still alive. The number of times they pulled a weapon on each other was frightening, to be honest. As she got to know each of them, they felt more like her brothers and father, except for one person, Jason damn Todd. She really liked him. He was so gentle with her, and at first, she didn’t understand why. But one day, Jason told her his backstory. To her surprise, it was similar to hers. Once she figured that out, they connected on a whole other level. In fact, they had both sworn that they would try not to kill again. And naturally, the one guy who will probably ever understand her, she had to have a crush on.
Another problem was Talia Al-Ghul. She still hadn’t come to find Marinette. So she was either planning something big. OR SHE WAS DEAD! What, a girl could dream. Marinette then heard a crash downstairs. She ran downstairs and what she saw had her reeling. Talia was in the middle of the living room, playing with her dagger. Once she saw Marinette, she smirked, “Marinette, you’re here. We can go back to the league now.”
Marinette shook her head, “I like living here, and I don’t want to leave.”
The smile that was on Talia’s face disappeared, “Even if you do like it here, you still have to get revenge on the people that wronged you.”
Marinette clicked her tongue, “That’s the thing, I already did revenge on them. I killed the main ones and tortured the rest.”
Talia yelled in defeat, “Well, if you won’t come back, then you’ll just die!” (I know I made Talia super sweet at the start of the story. But let’s face it. She’s a manipulator and a bitch) She then charged Marinette with her dagger in hand. But before she could reach Marinette, she was dead on the floor with multiple bullet holes going through her.
Marinette, with a gun in her hand, sank to her knees sobbing. The Wayne family, having heard the gunshots, hurried to the first floor. There they found a sobbing Marinette and a dead Talia. Jason hurried to Marinette and pulled her into his arms. “Hey, Pixie, what’s wrong?” Marinette shook her head, still sobbing. The rest of the family, seeing that Marinette wasn’t calming down, decided to give some words of support before taking Talia out of the room and cleaning the blood.
Jason picked up Marinette, who was clinging to his leather jacket and took her upstairs to his room. He whispered soothing words in her ear the whole way. Once they arrived, he put her down on the bed and cuddled her, “Marinette, Pixie, Baby, I need you to tell me what’s wrong so I can help you.”
Marinette’s sobbing started dying down. Eventually, it was only an occasional tear with some hiccups and sniffs. “I made a promise that I wouldn’t kill anymore. I broke that promise. Deep down, I really am a murderer.” She started sobbing again.
Jason sighed and crooned to her, “Oh, baby. Do you really think that? I used to murderer people all the time. Does that still make me a murderer? No! It doesn’t make you a murderer either.”
He then started kissing her cheek, her eyelids, her button-nose, her forehead, her head, her jaw. He trailed kisses down her neck while speaking, “I- love-you-so-much. And nothing-is ever-going- to change-that. You- are not- a- murderer.” He then planted a fervent kiss on her lips, which she deepened.
They continued kissing until Marinette broke away to say, “I love you too. You helped me so much when I was broken.”
Jason looked at her in the eyes with a raw intensity, “Then if you love me, never blame yourself for what happened to you.”
She smiled softly, “I promise”, before kissing him once more, with a deep passion.
He pulled away this time and told her, “You have a chance to have a second chance at life. Not many people get that. Use that second chance to fulfill everything you ever wanted. Leave the past behind. Be who you really are. Who you were before everything. But move into the future, with me by your side.”
“A second chance,” Marinette whispered, “A second chance.” Before kissing him once more. She was going to be okay. They had each other, and they were going to get through everything together. Together no matter what, they were going to give themselves a second chance, and they were going to spend every second of it together.

Imagine being the reincarnation of Dracula's long lost love: Part 9
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6 Part 7 Part 8
Tumblr media
A couple hours later, the flames eventually died out, leaving the castle practically in ruins. You still hadn't moved and Dracula was beginning to lose hope that you would never move again. He picked you up and carried your limp body in his arms as he walked back to the castle. So much of it was burnt and fallen apart. There was a large gaping hole in the cieling where you could see into the sky above. Dracula noticed that it was nearly dawn. He just hoped that the dungeons were still in tact as they made their ways towards them with Henry and Van Helsing clearing the way, pushing aside the charred debris.
At this moment Dracula felt numb. His castle was a heap of burnt rubble and the love of his life was possibly dead forever. Luckily for him when he reached the dungeons it was untouched, not even by the mob. At least that was a good sign. He thought. But not much of one. In a room just off the staircase lay his coffin, it black with plush red lining, and inscribed on the top was his family crest. Henry lifted the lid and Dracula placed you gently inside.
"What do we do now?" Van Helsing asked.
"We wait." Dracula replied, looking down at your lifeless body.
He felt anger once again boiling over inside him. He clutched his fists so tight that his knuckles turned white and his nails cut into his palms.
The tension was so thick in the room you could cut it with a knife. The longer Dracula waited, the more he became angry. Angry that his love had been taken away from him again. Angry that no matter how much he wanted it, he would never find peace not from angry townsfolk, not from Van Helsing, and not even from himself.
Van Helsing watched him carefully, sensing his anger. This anger was different than before. For the first time, he actually felt a little frightened. Dracula could tear him apart like paper if he wanted to. It felt like waiting for a bomb to explode.
Finally it did and like a viper he grabbed Van Helsing by his collar, lifting him a couple inches off the ground. "This is all your fault!! " He growled.
"My fault?! I'm not a monster that goes around killing innocent townsfolk am I?! " Van Helsing choked, trying to pry himself lose, but to no avail.
"Get out before I kill you were you stand!" He hissed, releasing him.
"No, Im staying." Van Helsing refused, fixing his shirt. Dracula stepped toward him, baring his teeth, aiming to kill.
"If she wakes and finds me dead, she will never forgive you. You don't want to risk that do you?" He pointed out, trying to appear calmer than he felt.
Dracula hesitated for a moment. Why did she value his friendship so much? He wondered.
"If she wakes up I will let you go. If not, you better pray for a quick death." Dracula threatened, glaring at him.
"Master, where will you sleep?" Henry asked, changing the conversation.
"I can't sleep. Not now. I'll be fine as long as the sunlight can't find me." He answered.
Dracula bent down beside you and held your hand. It was so cold now. Only a couple hours ago it was warm and soft. It was almost hard to believe it had only been a couple hours, it felt much longer to him.
Henry yawned, unable to stay awake for another second. He took off his coat folding it into a makeshift pillow and rested his head on it against the cold floor. He missed his bed, but that went up in the fire. Stupid townspeople. He thought to himself as he fell asleep.
Van Helsing didn't sleep either, although he wanted to. He couldn't even remember the last time he actually had a good night's sleep. His thoughts kept him up most nights, mostly about creatures of the night, but sometimes his thoughts were of you. Like how cute you were when you crinkled your nose when you were thinking or how you used to laugh when he did something you deemed silly...the little things that made him fall in love with you. If only he had told you how he felt...at least you would have known. He forced tears back, but it was becoming extremely difficult as the hours passed and you didn't wake.
"I love her too you know." Van Helsing confessed.
"What?" Dracula sneered, glaring at him from over his shoulder, but Lawrence paid him no mind.
"Yes...for a long time. I never told her." He said his voice cracking.
"You're a fool!" Dracula scoffed. Van Helsing nodded in agreement.
"I suppose I am. Maybe if I had this never would have happened." He said with a sigh.
Dracula spun around to face him. "What do you mean by that?!" He snarled. Van Helsing got up off the floor where he sat and came face to face with him, staring into his cold, dark eyes.
"I think you know what I mean. If I told her than maybe she would be with me instead of being dead because she fell in love with you!" He accused, finally losing his temper.
"How dare you!" Dracula angrily spat, smacking Van Helsing hard into a wall. "She could never love someone like you!" Van Helsing rubbed his head, feeling dazed. "You're pathetic! Weak! A miserable excuse for a mortal!"
"Am I? I'm not the one that has to hide from the sun or cower in fear of the cross." Lawrence retorted, lifting himself back on his feet. He looked at you and took a deep breath, knowing that you wouldn't have wanted them to fight.
"So much blood has been spilled, Dracula. Haven't you had enough?" He asked, trying to reason with him.
"No. Not till I have spilled yours." He hissed.
"Then I guess we are destined to do this forever." Van Helsing sighed.
"Forever is short in the life of a vampire. But you will never see it. " He swore through gritted teeth.
"I don't want to see forever. I'm tired. I've seen enough death and despair to last several lifetimes. I will eventually die, but there are things that are worse than death." Van Helsing admitted. Dracula's face softened a little as he mulled over his enemy's words in his mind.
"Get. Out." Dracula said, turning away. He didn't want to admit it, but Van Helsing was right. Living forever did feel like a curse. There were many times he wondered what it was like to be really dead. It must be glorious...
"I would like to stay a little while longer..." Van Helsing started to ask, taking a small step toward Dracula.
"Don't push it Dr. Van Helsing. I'm letting you go alive. Don't make me change my mind." Dracula warned.
"May I have one last look at her then?" He asked. Dracula nodded stepping aside. Van Helsing slowly walked up to the coffin and reached inside to touch your hand. It was still cold as ice.
He felt tears well up in his eyes again. "I'm sorry Y/N...for everything. If only it were me in that coffin instead of you. You of all people on this Earth didn't deserve this." He whimpered before placing gentle kiss on your forehead.
"Goodbye."
As you lay there, you tried to call out to them to tell them that you weren't dead, but you couldnt. It felt like there was an invisible force controlling you, preventing you from moving at all. You couldn't even breathe, it was almost like you were drowning and your lungs were being filled to the brim with water. Everything hurt. Wherever you were it was pitch black. You were frightened. If only Vlad or Lawrence could help you, even Henry. You didn't even know why you were here...oh right you're dead. Is this what it was like to be dead?
From the darkness, a small voice said, "Go back."
"We must go back." It implored you, sounding desperate.
"We? Who is we?" You ask. Suddenly, a bright light appeared blinding you. Squinting, you could make out a strange, blurry figure and faint whispering could be heard emanating from within the light. As you looked closer, it became clearer and you realized who it was. It was Dracula. You tried calling out to him once more, but he couldn't hear you. His appearance was different. He looked younger and was significantly less pale. He had longer hair that fell to his shoulders, even his clothes were different. You saw behind him the castle the way it once was, like in your vision. Your heart skipped a beat when he turned to look at you, as though he just noticed you were there. Then you finally felt yourself move, but you weren't in control. It was like you were a puppet being pulled around on strings.
Dracula reached for you, pulling you into his warm embrace, which you gladly welcomed. "My dear Maria, how I've missed you." He said, kissing your cheek. Maria? Who's Maria? You wondered, feeling a twinge of jealousy.
"I've only been gone a few hours Vlad." You said to him.
"But to me it feels like an eternity." He told you, kissing you again. "I love you."
"I love you too."
Without warning, the light flashed again and you found yourself in a church. You did not recognize this place, yet it seemed to familar. Before you stood Vlad and behind him was...Lawrence? No it couldn't be?! It certainly looked like him. The face was the same, but the hair was different. It was only slightly shorter than Dracula's and he was sporting a goatee. He didn't look as happy as your beloved. In fact, he looked extremely bored. Was this a wedding?
You slowly walked up the isle towards them, feeling all eyes on you. You didn't even know who any of these people were. All you knew is that you wanted to get out of there. You glanced up at Vlad and saw how much love glimmered in his eyes and you felt your nerves instantly calm. The room just seemed to fade away and only he mattered. He held out his hand for you, helping you up the last remaining steps.
"You ready, my dear?" He whispered.
"Of course. I can't wait to start my new life with you. " You happily answered.
"As am I."
Then the scene disappeared again much to your disappointment, this time to something a little less happy...this time you found yourself in a duel against Van Helsing. At first you weren't sure if it was a friendly duel, but quickly realized that it very much wasn't. This was a duel that could only have one victor.
"It should have been me on the thrown! All of this should have been mine!" Van Helsing yelled, smashing his sword into yours with a loud clang that rung throughout the great hall. You parried and sent him flying backward with a hard kick.
"The thrown! The castle! You..." He lunged at you once more, but you blocked it and counter attacked. He twisted your blade around his and pulled you close, your faces inches apart.
"You could never have me." You spat, pulling away.
"You wouldn't have had a choice." He retorted with a sickening grin. You could feel the anger building up inside you. With a swift flick of your sword you slashed him in the face, leaving a deep cut in his cheek. He chuckled. You were a fiesty one. Too fiesty for your own good, he thought.
"That's the difference between you and Vlad," You began. "He doesn't tell me what to do."  And with that you swung at him once more, this time breaking his sword in two. You held your sword to his neck.
You caught a glimpse of your reflection in the blade. That's when it dawned on you. You were Maria, Dracula's wife, and you remembered him telling you that you looked like her. It all made sense now. This is why you were having these visions. They are your own memories. Could it be that you and Maria are one in the same?
"Surrender traitor." You hissed, your blade mere inches away from his throat.
"I am no traitor." Van Helsing said.
"Fine then, a coward."
He rolled his eyes."At least I fight my own battles. Where's your beloved now?" He pointed out, looking smug.
"Fixing your mistake. Don't think I don't know what you've done. Vlad might trust you, but I sure as hell don't." You stated, inching your blade closer to his neck.
"And what will he say when he finds out that you've killed me?"
"The truth. He has no reason to doubt me." You answered confidently.
"Well, we'll find out sooner than you think." Confused you followed his eyes over to where Dracula now stood.
"What is this?!" He asked looking at the both of you.
"Vlad, he is a traitor. I caught him giving information to the Turks. He is league with the enemy." You explained. While you were distracted, Van Helsing quickly pulled a small dagger from within his sleeve and slammed it deep into your stomach. You dropped your sword falling to the floor alongside it writhing in pain. Dracula's heart stopped. It felt like time had slowed down as he ran to you and held you in his arms.
"Maria, no..." He let out a small cry, running his hand over your wound.
"I had to do something...I love you Vlad. I told you the day I married you that I would do anything for you." You told him, cupping his cheek.
"Then don't leave me...I can't live without you." He whimpered, sensing the end was coming for you.
"We will meet again, my love." You promised, sealing it with a quick kiss as the life faded from your body.
You could feel everything fading away again as you returned to the darkness. You mind was dizzy from everything you had just witnessed. It all felt so strange...
"Go back." The voice repeated again.
"He needs you. Go back!"
Suddenly, you felt whatever was holding you back had finally released you. Eager to get out of there you ran through the darkness hoping to find a way out. You didn't know where you were running, but you had to try. The darkness seemed endless and just as you were about to give up, the ground gave way below your feet and you finally woke up.
You gasped for air feeling as though you were drowning. You sat up clutching your throat, trying to catch your breath. Why was it so hard to breathe?
"Y/N?! Dracula gasped. He couldn't believe it. You were alive. It worked! It wasn't too late after all!
"Y/N! You're alright! Thank God." Van Helsing sighed in relief, smiling like he never smiled before.
"You!?" You exclaimed, backing away from him, your past memory still fresh in your mind. He looked at you feeling confused and hurt. Before Van Helsing could say anything, Dracula appeared at his side reaching out to you.
You looked over at him, eyes wide. "Vlad...I...I remember." You breathed.
"What?" He asked. "What do you remember?
"Everything."

Reader going up to Maul, Savage, Sunder, and Feral when their nightbrother is having a bad day/in a bad mood and saying something like “Can I take you somewhere that might help you feel better?” Then taking them into their arms 🥺🥺🥺
AWWMYGODDD
I imagine this happening with Maul right after some sort of meeting. He's slouched down a bit, hand rubbing his temple, absolutely certain that any attempt to stand up will be in vain. So you come in and ask what you can do, if he needs anything.
So he glances up at you, saying nothing, yet gesturing with his hand to bring you closer. And the moment you step up to the foot of the throne, he takes your hand, pulling you right to him, curled into his lap as he buries his face against you.
"This..." he says softly, "This is all I need."
Sometimes, memories will be extra cruel to Savage. He can't control it, and they will hit when he least expects or wants them to. You can always tell when it's more difficult to deal with, because he's quieter, more often looking off into the distance or to the floor with a frown on his face.
You find him this day, in much a similar position, but seated on the palace steps, watching the sky grow dark and the air grow cold.
"Is it much worse today?" you ask when you step up behind him.
"It could be worse," he replies, barely moving to look at you.
You make your way in front of him, finally earning his eyes on you. "What do you need? Can I make it any better?"
For a moment, he stays silent. But his hand outstretches, which you take gently, allowing him to guide you into his arms, his embrace safe and warm.
"You already have."
Sunder often has moments of doubt, not that you can blame him. After all, this life you've given him is far better than any he could have imagined. There had been some hope in him before, that perhaps someone a bit nicer would choose him from the village, that his pains would be slightly less than what others had told him about. But never in his life would he have imagined this, how kind you are to him, how gentle and soft. But he often questions how much of it he deserves, how much he should have rejected in favour of being useful.
He watches you sometimes, looks on at the work you do, or the way you've leaned so close to him as you read something interesting on a datapad, or even how delighted you seem to look outside as seasons change before your eyes. And he wonders how he could deserve something so painless, so joyful and simple. It was never supposed to be this way, and yet it is.
And based on the frown on his face, it's obvious what he's thinking. He doesn't often want to discuss it, though. He usually remains silent, letting the moments pass, before remembering how plainly happy you make him. Yet you always ask if you can help, if there's something that will make him just a bit more comfortable. And when he accepts your presence in his arms gladly, it makes the process go that much quicker.
When Feral has nightmares, they tend to linger in his mind throughout the day. He's more clammed up, more hesitant to talk or interact with people who aren't his family, clearly more troubled than when anything else bothers him. They're nightmares often about himself, or you... or even both. They cause him the most fear than anything else, yet he has no clue how to prevent them, or if he even can.
So when you ask him how you can help, and he holds you tighter than he's ever done before, his face is buried in the crook of your neck. His arms are wrapped entirely around you, keeping your chest pressed against his own with no hope of escape.
He can feel your breath, your heartbeat, can feel the small ways you shift against him when you return the embrace just as tightly as his own. It's almost as if reaffirming that you're real, that he's real. Your touch is there, without any doubt, without any question. He had been lost, enough so that even what he saw right in front of him was no certainty. But with every touch, you guide him home, and he knows he's alive.

Life Eternal | Hector Castlevania
Set before Dracula requested Hector’s services. Reader is believed to be a witch, but in reality she just doesn't care for human company.
Pairing: Hector x Reader
Warnings: Language, small mention of smut, mentions of animal death/resurrection.
Part One.
_________________________________________________________________
They call you a witch, and you never bothered to correct them.
It was preposterous, you were nothing of the sort. You never really understood why the townspeople hated outsiders so much. It had been months since you had settled in, yet you couldn't get as much as a smile from your own neighbour.
There was one woman however that would spare you a few words, that is if you paid her some coin in exchange for her cooked goods.
Was it because you didn't attend church? Perhaps it was because you choose to remain in the company of your dog over the local women's group that congregated every Thursday. The people weren't friendly at all, and you often wondered if you made the right decision in moving to such a tight-knit community.
You weren't the only outsider however. It had been three weeks after you had moved in when you saw him.
He wasn't like the others here.
He kept his head down, his voice to himself. Even when the people would throw abuse at him, he kept his eyes to the dirt. It both saddened and confused you, wondering why such was happening. He didn't look like some brute, nor some boisterous drunk... so why did they all hate him?
Finding the courage to ask the baker, she informed you that he dabbled in dark magic, and was often found talking to wild animals. He lived on the big hill, and she continued to babble on about how he was rumoured to bring animals back to life. This surprised you, and you asked for more information but she held her hand out for more coin.
It didn't bother you as much as it should, for you spoke mainly to animals too. Your small companion - a beagle named Rhubarb. He was your best friend and the only family you had left. He wasn't everyone’s cup of tea that's for sure, often stealing fish from the baskets from local fisherman.
This was life.
It was Rhubarb and you against the world, that is until you came home from your weekly trip to the market, having bought new blankets for the two of you when you found Rhubarb lying on the side of the road.
He stayed unmoving, even after calling his name twice. Rain poured down heavily, and you wondered why the silly dog hadn't run under a tree yet. You knelt down by his side, placing your basket by his head.
He still didn't move, and your breath caught in your throat.
It took you some seconds to realise he wasn't breathing, and you screamed out in anguish at the sight. Your hands shook as you pulled his small, limp body into your arms, holding him in an embrace as you sob.
His fur was darkened in harsh line, and you knew someone had purposely run over him with a carriage. He knew better than to play on the road, but being an older dog, he wasn't as quick as he used to be.
He was your life.
Rhubarb still had years ahead of him, running past your feet and stealing fishes from baskets. Who would be so cruel to run over a dog? On purpose?
The tears wouldn't stop falling. Was this your curse in life? Everyone you loved being taken away from you?
No.
If there was a way to bring him back, you will have to try.
You wrap Rhubarb in one of the new blankets, careful not move too quickly. There was only one destination on your mind, and you hoped the baker was right. The rain had soaked through your dress completely, clinging to you like a second skin.
Your hair blew in the wind, tangling into a mess, and tiny sobs still escaped you as you cuddled your beloved friend in your arms.
You weren't sure how long you had been walking for. Minutes? Hours? It felt like days by the way you shivered in the storm. In reality it had only been twenty minutes, but each step felt like an eternity. If this didn't work, you didn't know what you would do.
The sky had long since turned dark, and you felt no fear as you walked. Finally, light could be seen ahead, and you silently prayed to whoever was listening that he was home. Lighting struck from behind you, and your breathing came out harshly as you trudged up the hill.
You wouldn't be surprised if he couldn't hear your kicks against his front door over the sound of thunder. Your hands were full, and you were sure your toes would be bruised over how hard you kicked.
The door didn't budge, and so you kicked again, over and over.
The tears continued to fall, and desperation came out in small cries as your arms grew weak from the heavy weight.
“Please,” You yell out. “I know you're in there! Please!”
The door finally opens, nearly causing you to lose balance. He stands in front of you, face full of anger at the intrusion.
“What the bloody hell do you want?” He peers down at you in confusion, his eyes staring into yours. If it weren’t for the fact you were currently shivering and holding your deceased dog in hand, you would’ve said something about his unique appearance. “Well?”
“Y-you have to help me,” You held Rhubarb closer to you. “They s-said you could help!”
The man pays no attention to the bundle in your arms, instead choosing to shut the door. He doesn’t get the chance however, as your foot wedges itself before it could close.
“What are yo-“
“He didnt deserve this!” You cry, ignoring the pain shooting up your leg at the sharp movement. The rain pours even harder, and there’s not one part of you dry.
“He?” The man questions, and instead of replying, you peel back an edge of the blanket, revealing a limp paw.
His eyes narrow slightly, before he looks back to you. “What are you asking of me here?”
“I think you know exactly what I’m asking.”
“The last time I helped somebody,” He shakes his head. “It didn’t work in my favour. Leave.”
“I will pay you anything, I will slave away in the kitchens if I have too,” Begging was your last resort. “I will give you myself for Christ’s sake! Just please help him!”
He sighs, his head looking towards the ceiling as if in deep thought before letting the door open again. He steps aside, signalling for you to enter. You do so quickly, immediately feeling better at the warmth. It didn’t help that your clothes were completely drenched. Gods, you probably did look like a witch right now.
“Well?” The man says from behind you, and you turn your head. His arms are outstretched, asking for you to pass the animal over.
Your teeth clatter as you shiver yet again, but you gently pass Rhubarb over to the stranger. He takes him with as much care, and your hands immediately begin to rub at your upper arms for warmth.
He begins to walk away, further into the house and you follow suit. A cat runs past your feet as you pass through a hallway, and it’s then you notice half her face missing. It surprises you to find that you’re not scared, and the further you look around the more you begin to notice plenty more pets.
“Don’t pay them any mind, they won’t harm you.” The stranger mumbles ahead, and you whip your head in his direction.
“I’m not worried, they seem pleasant.” Your tone matches his, and he chuckles. He stops, turning his head around with a forced grin.
“Pleasant. They’re dead. They don’t like strangers, so don’t get too comfortab-“ As if on cue, another cat rubs their head against your leg, and the stranger frowns. “Well that’s new.”
“Most animals like me, even the dead ones I guess.” You shrug, bending down to pet the cats head. It’s stomach is exposed, and your heart aches knowing the animal must’ve suffered before meeting the magic man.
“And this one?” He nods towards the bundle in his arms, and your bottom lip quivers. He begins to walk again, and you wipe away a stray tear.
“T-that’s Rhubarb,” You stand, following once more. “I’ve had him since I was young.”
“So old age got him then.”
“No,” The man was taken back by the sudden change of your tone. “Someone in the town killed him on purpose, they don’t like me and they certainly didn’t like him.”
“Bastards.” His jaw clenched at the news.
“I guess it was easier to kill my boy than it was to kill me.” He nods in agreement.
“They’re scum, all of them.”
It was your turn to nod. Finally the two of you came to a room, a stone table laying in the centre. Various knives stood at the side, and your stomach dropped.
As if sending your unease, the man shakes his head. “I’m a forge master, there is no need to worry about those.”
It didn’t exactly help calm your nerves, but realising the man was actually a forge master and not some magician made more sense. Forge masters weren’t exactly liked in the world, much to your confusion.
“I’m Hector,” Hector places Rhubard down on the table, removing the blanket off of him. “And you are?”
“(Y/N),” You stood in the back as Hector moved around. His movements were graceful, and your chest tightened at the site of your beloved pet. “I moved here recently.”
He chuckes. “I thought as much, we don’t get many of your kind here.”
“My kind?” The air turned colder by the second, and you slowly made your way to the fireplace in an attempt to warm up, keeping your eyes on the forgemaster.
“Good-hearted.” His hands rest of Rhubarbs stomach, petting him as if he were alive.
“How do you know I’m good hearted? I don’t think even forgemasters can read souls.”
“You offered me your body in exchange for your dogs life,” He looks back at you with a genuine smile. “Not many people would do that. No sane person at least.”
“Most sane people have others in their life to keep them as such, I only have him.”
“Well let me just say that there will be no need for such payment, I can see you care deeply for him.” Hector reaches for a peculiar shaped coins. “But you may want to look away, it gets quite bright.”
You do as he says, choosing to look at the fire. The room grows dark as Hector works, and you close your eyes, silently hoping for success. Minutes go by, the sound of metal on metal ringing through your ears as you breathe out quickly.
The ringing continues for sometime, before the whole room goes quiet. The only sound heard is the cracking of the fire, that is until a familiar bark startles you.
Your eyes open, and you’re met immediately with a beagle at your feet, jumping onto his hind legs in an attempt to climb on you. You fall to your knees, your arms surrounding Rhubarb as he licks at your cheeks. His eyes are no longer a dark brown, instead a shimmering blue. You didn’t care, all that mattered now was that he was alive.
“Oh my darling boy,” You cried, letting the small dog climb into your lap. “My sweet, sweet boy.”
Hector wipes his hands with a clothe, before clearing his throat.
“You have to let me pay you somehow,” You sniff as Rhubarb continues whining for attention. “You have a gift Hector.”
“Others don’t think so.” He laughs, throwing the clothe onto the table.
“The others can go jump off a cliff for all I care,” The beagle in your lap jumps away, turning his attention to Hector for pats. “You saved him, that matters to me.”
“Yes well right now you’re getting my floorboards wet,” Hector kneels down to Rhubarbs level. “So if you’re wanting to pay me somehow, you can pay me but dressing into something more comfortable and staying.”
Your stomach drops at his words, and as if realising his own innuendo, he stumbles over his next words.
“N-no not like that! I just m-mean it’s too dangerous to return home right n-now,” Hector coughs, his cheeks turning a small tinge of pink. “You know with the storm in all, and it would’ve been a w-waste of both our efforts tonight.”
In just a span of a few minutes, Hector went from a cocky forgemaster to a blubbering mess. It made you giggle, and he releases a few small chuckles himself as he scratches the back of his neck.
“Alright, I’ll stay.”

Hi! Love your writing! Would you ever consider doing a Billy Hargrove x plus size reader? Maybe the reader is shy and nerdy so the party are always hanging around her, she's like an cool older sister to them. Billy finds the kids annoying because they're always around the reader when he tries to ask her out. Thanks!
heya love! very sorry I took my time with this but I wanted to make it perfect as a chubby girl myself. I really hope you enjoy it, this is probably the longest piece I've ever written, it's like four in one. solis x
pairing: Billy Hargrove x female plus size!reader
fandom: stranger things
warnings: bullies unsurprisingly, nothing terrible, abusive families, domestic abuse
fourth time lucky. bh.
Tumblr media
the three times billy hargrove tried to ask you out, and the one time it actually worked.
hair pushed back, cig hanging gently on his smiling lips and jeans sprayed onto his muscular thighs; Billy Hargrove looked almost delectable as he stood, leaning against your lockers and waiting for you to show up. this had become a regular thing since you'd first started hanging out, and though the other teenagers of Hawkins couldn't work out why Billy would want to hang around for you, he couldn't care less. whenever he needed someone real to comfort him, and show him he was worthy of love and affection, you were there. you made him feel more alive, and that made him breathless ironically whenever he was around you. touch starved was never a word Billy would ever associate with himself until he met you. no matter how many girls had laid their hands on him, he needed none of them as much as he needed your touch.
already this afternoon, Tommy had tried to pull him away, promising him a girl at his party later on, but Billy simply shook his head and remained where he was. you were due a free period right now, and he wanted to skip and go hang out before the end of school when he'd have to pick up Max.
it was through Max and the gang that the two of you had met properly for the first time, and though she'd hated his insistent flirting, she had to admit that she didn't mind hanging out with you more. suddenly less boisterous and cruel, whenever he was around you, Max noticed how Billy would change. he loved how much you cared about the gang, even if he could never work out why you cared so much.
caring and sweet, yet undeniably outspoken and confident: it was something Billy loved about you - you had the capability to show so much love, perhaps because of experiencing a severe lack of it, but on the other hand, you still stood up for yourself and protected the ones you loved fiercely. your years in high school before billy had been ridden with cruel taunts and bullying because of your appearance, hence why you began hanging out with the gang, but since he had joined, people quickly learned not to mention you in the wrong way. whether it was the love he felt for you in his heart that motivated him to dish out bruises and broken bones in your honour, or the way you always patched him up after and kissed his bruised knuckles as a thank you, he wasn't really sure. in his heart, he knew it was a mixture of both.
Billy had been too caught up in his thoughts to notice you coming around the corner moments before, but when he heard your laughter bouncing through the corridor, he knew it was you. gazing on in adoration, he watched as you walked towards him, your boots hitting the ground quicker when you noticed him waiting. your smiles and soft skin just visible from your clothes made him nervous, and though he wasn't accustomed to the feeling he'd put up with it if you were part of the deal.
"hey princess, been missing you," he smirked, removing his cigarette to talk properly. up close, he made a note that you were wearing one of his old shirts, one he had left at yours one night after a fight with his father. the bitter memory of his injuries was somewhat sweetened by the memory of you kissing his wounds and holding him. he hoped you'd find comfort in him too.
"hey Billy, thanks for waiting," softly smiling back, you pressed your hands against his chest and pushed him back so you could open your locker. as you touched him, gentle but firm, his muscles tensed noticeably and he felt his heart race a little faster.
"so uhh, I had something I wanted to ask you doll," his demeanour quickly became less relaxed, and you felt yourself fill with nerves. a blush spread across your cheeks when he called you that pet name, your imagination getting the better of you. imagining him whispering, groaning that pet name in another predicament completely made your skin feel hot to the touch.
right as you nodded and he went to continue, one of the gang cleared their throats in an effort to get your attention.
you chuckled as you watched his face quickly drop. behind you stood the gang smiling up at Billy, half scared, half amused. the way you'd yelled at him in the past for even laying a finger on them made him too scared to dare do anything, but the threat remained in their minds.
the kids muttered between themselves as you and Billy took a step aside. you tried to keep your head straight as you watched his muscles tense and the st christopher bounce against his chest, but you still felt slightly dizzy. with you stood against the lockers, him mere centimetres away, your mind was racing and you just hoped he couldn't tell.
"princess..." his tone was a mix of warning and pleading, and made your hair stand on edge. Billy knew the kids wanted to come and hang out at your house, since no one else's parents would allow it. but Billy wanted you to himself for once, and when it came to you, whatever Billy wanted, he usually got. perhaps not today though.
shaking his head, Billy knew he'd lost the battle when you smiled and tilted your head at him.
"okay, but they're gonna have to make it up to me at some point," he stated, loud enough for the whole corridor to hear, turning to you with a smile, he whispered, "and so will you doll."
a few weeks later, you found yourself sat on the bleachers in the school gym, watching Billy practice. confident, proud and talented: Billy knew he was good at basketball, better than anyone else on the team, so he enjoyed the moments on the pitch. it was one of those moments where Billy felt good at something; it was something he could be proud of.
lighting up with joy, his face was always a wonder when he noticed you were watching, and it made your stomach fill with butterflies. though you were sure the guys on his team would've said something about you hanging around, you were also sure he'd shut them up. it made you nervous being in a room full of boys that had made your high school experience suck, but the occasional smiles from Billy were worth it.
the mainly quiet gym, hour long practice and shirtless Billy were all more than enough to convince you to attend every practice he had, using the space to revise or study (or spend your time gazing at the boy of your dreams). as well as this, Billy always rushed through showering and getting ready afterwards to take you to a local diner, where the two of you would hang out and waste away the evening with jukebox dancing and milkshakes.
having the privilege to be in the presence of post workout Billy was something you'd never stop being grateful for, because his bad boy act usually dropped during these times. buzzing with energy, he'd grab your hand while he drove down the endless country roads and tell you stories of running away, making a new life. his eyes would electrify, and you'd both lose track of time, playing his music way too loud and dancing badly.
hopefully, today would be no different. you both had a big test the next day and you had revised so much your brain had turned grey and blurry. Billy needed a pick me up too, since his home life had been worsening, so you vowed to make tonight memorable for him. planning ahead, you'd packed a bag with a blanket and some snacks, hoping to find somewhere to stop and have a fire.
as you finished going through your notes one last time, the coach blew the final whistle indicating practice was over. after receiving a wink from Billy and waving back to him gleefully, you began packing away your notebooks and headed for the car park, where you'd wait for him.
by the time Billy joined you, his hair still wet from the showers, you were freezing, your jumper not quite shielding from the bitter mid spring air. immediately, Billy picked up on this and before even greeting you his jacket was wrapped around your frame. it made you nervous sometimes, since his clothes weren't as baggy on you as they would be on other girls, and this threatened to wipe the smile off of your face.
"sorry I took so long doll, Steve was giving me shit," although his face showed obvious distaste for Steve, his eyes still softened at the sight of you in his clothes: "you look gorgeous today y/n, even better with my jacket."
blushing, you hugged him silently, chuckling to yourself when he slipped his hand into his jacket pocket to reach for a his lighter and cigarettes.
"there's no surprise," swinging open the door for you, he simply ignored your remark, so you continued, "what's the plan for today then?"
Billy had also wanted today to be special. he'd thought it over and over in his mind, trying to think of something good enough, a way to ask you out properly that suited you, showed you how much your deserved. he thought he'd come up with a pretty good idea, but it would have to be a surprise for now to make the reveal even more worthwhile.
"well babe, that is a surprise, you'll have to wait and see," he teased, a smirk rolling around his lips, sharing the space with his lit cigarette. hopping into the seat next to you, Billy began driving away from Hawkins high school, his palm resting gently on your thigh. a small affection you had grown to love, the feel of his palm against your skin set your body alight almost and you had to fight the smile threatening your lips.
Billy eventually let you know he needed to pick some things up from his house before you could set off together to do whatever he had planned, claiming he'd left something at home that morning. therefore, when his Camaro rolled up the street to his house, you settled into the seat, not expecting to have to wait long before he'd be back.
with the weight of his denim jacket on your torso, you fiddled with the seams of it, adoring the way it swamped your body even if you knew you probably looked ridiculous. tuning out to the situation, you knew Billy wouldn't invite you in at all, so you busied yourself organising the front seat of his car, something he'd probably kill anyone else for.
living with his father, there were certain things Billy was sensitive to, things he could piece together pretty quickly to decipher the situation. so when he saw the lights of the living room illuminating the house and heard the stern voice of his father hollering through the house, it set his body on full alert. he knew pretty quickly it had something to do with Max, since she had told him not to bother taking her home, saying she didn't want to wait until practice was over.
Billy figured he could buy perhaps another half hour to drive you home and pretend like everything was normal; the outcome would be the same regardless, he'd be blamed and punished for whatever stupid thing his step sister had decided to do.
hands shaking, Billy returned to the car, his lips pressed tightly together as he gripped the steering wheel white knuckled.
realising the tension coursing through his body, you slowly placed your hand in his empty one, holding it on one of your thighs. only moments before he'd been touching your skin with a completkely different emotion racing through his veins. he'd been overtaken by excitement and anticipation, wondering whether he'd finally be able to kiss you tonight and hear you call him yours properly. fear and adrenaline had replaced this now, and anticipation for a completely different evening set his heart beating off time.
his eyes trailed over to you for a second, a silent acknowledgement, a thank you for showing him the love he needed. whether you were good with words or not, it didn't matter since he probably wouldn't hear you over his heart pounding.
keeping him grounded, the warmth of your hands around his and the soft of your thighs held him in place; reminded him there was good in the world.
"I... Billy I wanted to say something, and I don't know if now is the right time," you started, regretting the words as soon as they left your mouth, but not being able to stop once you'd started, " you mean the world to me, and I..."
the words got choked in your throat, and though his eyes remained on the road, you felt the car pull over so he could focus on you. it was so fucking embarrassing to Billy. tonight of all nights, when Billy was planning to ask you to be his girl, his little sister had decided to sneak out instead of riding home, and got caught. his dad was furious and now Billy was livid with Max again. but most of all, he was embarrassed that his home life was so fucked up, he couldn't even take the time outside of school to ask you on a date.
processing the words you were speaking to him wasn't really working in his overactive mind, and you could tell. reaching with your hands, you held his face and as you spoke, he watched your lips shamelessly
"I'm sorry it's like this Billy. I wish I could do something. I just want you to be safe."
Billy didn't have anything in mind to respond to your sympathy with, so he simply leaned into your touch one final time.
"you should get going. I'll pick you up tomorrow morning. my dad..." he trailed off but you understood clearly.
miserably reaching for your bag, you leaned over to him and kissed his cheek before clambering out and making your way up to your house. butterflies still fluttered around your stomach at the small moment of bliss, having him so close yet so far, even if the moment was horrifically tainted.
Billy traces his fingers across the shape your lips has branded into his cheek and smiles softly for a second, forgetting himself in your love.
today, Billy had noticed something different about you. adorned in one of his borrowed band shirts, a confidence seemed to radiate from your skin, and though he didn't know what had provoked it, he was determined to keep it there.
glittering with amusement, your eyes widened as he stole your book from your hands and took the seat next to you. in the cafeteria especially, many wondered why Billy Hargrove, the legend, would sit with someone quite a bit lower down the social ladder. even so, his presence, along with the faint smell of cigarettes and aftershave, followed you in your lunch periods and you were eternally grateful. you loved spending your lunch times listening to him complain about Steve and Tommy, and you loved how he'd listen intently to your ramblings about school, home and whatever work you were doing.
whenever Billy wasn't with you, cutting remarks would haunt you like a second shadow, and though you were big enough to deal with it yourself, it was nice not having to.
as he winked at you and dropped your book back into your lap, your heart swelled a little and you didn't quite notice one of his teammates walking by, so when his voice cut through your moment harshly.
"hey Billy, I didn't realise you were trying on the fat girl? c'mon there's much better-" the boy didn't quite get to finish his sentence before Billy had him against a nearby support, clearly furious.
gripping the lapels of his jacket, Billy practically growled, "I suggest you shut the hell up before I beat your ass," before dropping him, realising the staff members had caught on to his out burst. as well as the rest of the students, whose eyes quickly landed on you, shaking and visibly embarrassed.
pathetically whimpering as he crawled away, the boy avoided your path when he noticed you snatch your bag and make a run for it. breathing hard, Billy quickly grabbed his jacket before chasing after you as you hurried outside, gasping for air. your cheeks felt like they were on fire and you couldn't help but wish it didn't have to be like this.
you cursed his athletic nature when he caught up to you almost immediately, whispering "hey, hey don't cry babe, don't cry about him, he's an asshole," over and over while pulling you into a hug.
until he mentioned it, you didn't notice you were crying, fat tears making his sweater soggy. glittering again, this time your eyes struggled to meet his when he pulled away to speak to you.
"I'm so, I'm sorry you had to do that for me Billy, I," you started in between wiping the tears away on your sleeve. wrapping his jacket around you, he smiled and replied "it's no problem, I just wanna see you smiling girl, that's all. I just lose my temper when they say shit like that because I just..." before he managed to finish his sentence, you took his hand, already half expecting but not quite believing what he was about to say. trembling but warm, strong; his eyes dropped to your hands intertwined and you were somewhat shocked to see a blush forming across his cheeks.
"I wanna look after you forever y/n. hate seeing you upset, you're too important to me," Billy couldn't believe he'd copped out with such a wishy washy answer, but it satisfied you. you knew what he really meant behind his words and you felt the same, which was why you pushed yourself into his arms again and kept your face pushed against his neck for longer than before.
the cold bite of his metal jewellery against your skin mixed with the faint smell of his cologne made you almost light headed, overtaken with love and light swarming your insides, but with his arms around your waist, there was nothing but safety to be felt.
smiling against his skin, you whispered loud enough for only him to hear,
"you're important to me too Billy, always will be."
perhaps a month or so later, Billy stood against his Camaro, a cigarette painting his lips with grey smoke, watching as you ran over to him. smiles exchanged from a distance as usual, he couldn't help but notice yours was bigger than usual and he wondered why.
knuckles clenching when he saw Steve and the children close by, following your heels, he felt worry wash over him and he became gripped by the though that Steve had perhaps made a move. Billy had always gotten the idea that Steve was interested, since you hung out more than average friends due your shared love for the kids. it could've also been a sense of masculinity that Billy had always felt he needed to uphold - Steve had been the king once and what would stop you from seeing that he was better for you than Billy would ever be?
Billy had never had to deal with feelings of insufficiency before, and he wasn't quite sure what to do. washed away as quickly as they had arrived though, he felt himself calm when you came closer and fixed his collar for him. his breath fanning against your neck as you reached to unfurl the collar, his warmth enveloped you and it took everything in you to hold back.
blissed out from just that moment, Billy took a few seconds to realise there was something in your hand before asking, eyeing the kids behind you.
"there's a fair coming nearby!" El butted in, earning a ruffle of her hair from you and a slight smile from Billy - he had to admit she was cute sometimes.
"and obviously, we're going," you proposed, half asking, half demanding.
Steve smirked at the way you placed a hand on Billy's chest, unconcerned at the glare he received from Billy as a result.
"I'm off, come on kids, you can come to mine," Steve announced, giving you a smile that just reeked of 'tell him you pussy'.
a few goodbyes were said and hugs were given, and then you were alone with Billy, Max clambering into the car to give you a minute. perhaps even she could sense what was going to happen.
Billy simply raised an eyebrow having clearly worked out there was something on your mind.
"Billy, I've been wanting to say it for a while and I wasn't really sure how you'd react, but," hot, red and fast, Billy could feel his blood pulsating as the words tumbled from your lips, but he couldn't stop looking at them.
"I wanted to know if you'd go to the fair with me, as more than just friends? I get it if not, but I like you a lot and it's kinda..."
before you could finish your sentence, Billy was asking if he could kiss you, ignoring everyone around you.
soft, warm and comforting, his lips against yours convinced you you had no reason to be nervous. the kiss quickly deepened, your hands laced through his hair and his settled on your waist.
"God I've waited too long for this," he whispered into your neck.

Seungkwan: Chapter 3 (Never Enough)
Tumblr media
Characters: Seungkwan x female reader
Genre/Warnings: multi-member au (different scenarios), werewolf au, fantasy, angst (a shit ton of sadness honestly), semi-unrequited love, death mentions, mental illness (depression), runaway mates, family fighting, implied violence. Any others will be put as warnings when future chapters are thought up/written.
Author’s Note: Okay so this chapter is a bit shorter than I had anticipated, but please bare with me. The next one for him should get pretty intense and I think it’ll be worth it. But this chapter had to slow it down a bit for explanation purposes. And I’m sorry for all the Angst recently, I’m better at writing that than I am fluff or smut. But I swear, Hansol and Chan’s chapters won’t be as edgy.
Please remember that all of these chapters and the content within them are a work of fiction! They’re just for fun/entertainment!

Chapter 3: Never Enough
It had been almost a week since you left. Seungkwan barely left his room. He hardly ate. He hardly slept. Hell, he hardly even cried anymore. He just stared up blankly at his ceiling. He was just doing the absolute bare minimum to stay alive for his pack, and that’s mostly because you asked him to. But he didn’t want to continue his life without you, even if you didn’t love him, he still loved you. You were everything to him. Living a life without you wasn’t a life Seungkwan thought was worth living.
At this point, anytime he slept and dreamed, it was of you. Whether it be some small memory he had with you, or just a random nightmare that terrified him to his core, it was always you. It killed him to see you without ACTUALLY seeing you, so he tried not to sleep much. Of course, he still did. He had to, and when he did, he always dreamt of you. And it seemed he wasn’t the only one who had that problem now…
Flashback
“How could you?!? How could you make her leave?!?” Seungkwan screamed at the top of his lungs at the older wolf, having to be held back by his other brothers so he wouldn’t lunge at him after he had spent hours outside looking for you.
He came home dirty, covered from head to toe in twigs, leaves, mud, and dirty. He tried to track you, he really did. But you were just… gone. He tried to follow the pull, but it always lead him back home, the last place he had seen you. He knew you must’ve used your powers or some sort of spell to mislead his instincts. You didn’t want him to find you, you left for his own good, and it broke him fragile little heart.
“Seungkwan… I’m sorry. I didn’t think- I didn’t think she’d actually leave you I-” Jihoon tried, still at a loss for words from the events that happened only hours ago.
“You fucking asshole!! I hate you! I HATE YOU!” Seungkwan cried out with mud streaking his face, trying to tear himself out of the other pack members grips to get to him, failing miserably due to his lack of strength.
“I HATE YOU! YOU RUINED EVERYTHING! I FUCKING HATE YOU!!” He sobbed into the closest members shoulder, finally letting himself fall to the floor in agony.
“I hate you… I hate you… How could you… I hate you…” he continued to mumble as Soonyoung started to comfort the younger wolf, rubbing his back softly while whispering words of encouragement to him.
Jihoon couldn’t believe what had happened. You actually left his brother to fend for himself. Seungkwan was too devastated to even speak coherently. You hadn’t actually denied him, you wanted to be sure he still had a chance at living and denying him would’ve killed him, but you could make sure he didn’t find you. And that’s apparently what you had done. You made true to your promise of leaving Seungkwan so that he could be happy. He could never blame you for it, he loved you, you were his mate after all. So that only left one other person he could blame it on…
“Jihoon… you fucking prick… I fucking hate you… I fucking HATE you…” Seungkwan whimpered out in the direction of the older wolf, still laying on the floor with his brothers surrounding him to be sure he didn’t hurt himself.
“Okay that’s enough. I think Seungkwan needs to go and rest. Hansol, you and Seokmin will be in charge of him. Take him up to his room and stay with him. He’s had a long day and- and he just really looks like he needs to sleep.” Jeonghan decided as the one currently in charge.
As one of the Alphas, it was his job to remain impartial and make sure everything was running smoothly. Usually, it was Seungcheol’s job as he was physically the oldest, but he went out with a few of the others to try and find you. So it was left to Jeonghan to take care of the remaining pack. But seeing his brother so broken and hurt from losing his mate tore at his own heartstrings. He decided it was best he be kept in his room under supervision to be sure he didn’t hurt himself.
“And YOU!” Jeonghan quickly turned and pointed to Jihoon, who was standing with wide eyes, clearly caught off guard by the sudden demeanor change in the older wolf.
“You come with me NOW!” He barked, walking to the back patio with the smaller boy following his exit.
“What the actual HELL were you thinking?!?” Jeonghan demanded, his eyes already starting to shift to red as he angrily stared his baby brother down.
“I- I don’t know. I just wanted her to treat him better. We all did. But she just- she just left…” Jihoon stuttered, not quite used to being yelled at by anyone.
He generally kept to himself and out of trouble. But this time, he was the direct cause of it. There was no denying it. And he had no fucking way to fix it. His brother was gonna hate him forever and NEVER forgive him. Even if he managed to find a way to get you back to him, he fucked up too badly.
“You damn well KNOW it wasn’t your place to say anything. It wasn’t YOUR mate with the problem so you shouldn’t have had a fucking say. And now look what you’ve done! You’ve made Seungkwan’s mate run for the hills and now he could DIE! Do you even realize the severity of the situation you’ve just made Jihoon?!?” Jeonghan screamed while throwing his hands in the air, really wanting to punch him in the face but knowing that that would solve none of the problems he was listing off in his head.
Jeonghan was the silly alpha who liked to have fun and pull pranks. He was NEVER the one to handle the serious situations. And generally speaking, when he did, he always found it easier to sit down and talk to the others on a peer level. But he was BEYOND pissed. And Jihoon knew why. Seungkwan was one of the kindest most innocent people he’d ever met. And he had just scared off his mate by running his big fat mouth off. He deserved the harsh treatment his brother was giving him and much more.
“I… I know.” Jihoon responded, looking down at his hands that were now connected over his torso in shame.
“I REALLY don’t think you do know Jihoon. Seungkwan’s one of the few pack members who can keep us all together. Even if she hasn’t TRULY denied him, we both know someone like him could never go more than a few days without seeing his mate before getting sick and DYING! What do you thinks gonna happen to not just him, but the whole pack when he decides to give up?” Jeonghan pinched the bridge of his nose in frustration, attempting to keep himself calm.
“I- I don’t know.” Jihoon whimpered out, even though he knew just how bad shit was gonna get.
“Well know THIS.” Jeonghan started with his index finger pushing into Jihoon’s chest.
“If ANYTHING happens to Seungkwan OR (Y/N), YOURE the one that’ll be responsible. And YOULL be the one to dig the graves before we kick your ass out of the house FOR GOOD. Am I making myself clear to you?” Jeonghan questioned through gritted teeth, getting more upset at him by the second.
“Yes Jeonghan Hyung.” Jihoon whined out with watery eyes.
“Good. Now you BETTER find SOMEWAY to fix the damage you caused, otherwise you better start looking for a new place to live!” Jeonghan spoke as he gripped onto Jihoon’s collar, lifting him up slightly during the conversation to show dominance.
Jihoon was terrified. He didn’t want his brother to die. He didn’t want to get dropped from the pack. He didn’t want you to die, even if he made it seem that way. He didn’t want a bunch of shit to set into motion because of his stupid actions. He felt like he was spiraling into a pit of despair. What was he going to do? His brother was gonna die and it was all his fault. You were going to die and it was all on him. He wouldn’t have a pack anymore and it was all because of himself. It felt like the whole world was closing in on him and he couldn’t breathe.
Suddenly, flashes of your and Seungkwan’s corpses flashed through his mind. You guys’s eyes were white and hallow and your skin was cold and blue. Your mouths were stuck open in horror and all the life had been sucked out of the both of you. He killed you both. He killed you both. HE killed you BOTH. WHAT DID HE DO?!?!
-
Jihoon sat up gasping for air. He started patting his head and body, making sure they wouldn’t pass through him to prove he was awake. It was a dream. It was a dream. He was still alive. Seungkwan was still alive. You were still alive, at least he hoped. That thought frightened him more than anything, but he tried not to give into that fear.
He slowly laid back down to slow his rapidly beating heart and began breathing in and out at a deep pace. From through the walls, he could hear Seungkwan whimper in his sleep, his pulse beating as fast as a jackhammer. He must’ve been having another nightmare about you. Jihoon closed his eyes tightly.
He had to fix this. He had to help his brother. He caused all his pain. He was the reason he was alone in his room crying in his sleep right now. Seungkwan didn’t deserve what had happened to him. He was such a loving, sweet brother and mate. He had to get you back to him. But how could he possible do that? Your strange background meant you could do things they couldn’t even comprehend. You made it to where Seungkwan couldn’t even follow the pull. It was like you had vanished off the face of the Earth. So how the actual fuck could he manage to find you when even your own mate couldn’t?
Jihoon didn’t get anymore sleep that night, he staying up racking his brain on how he could get you to come home. And, by sunrise, he thought he had figured out a half decent plan. It was risky sure, but Jihoon would walk through hell if it meant getting you back to his brother now. He’d grovel on his hands and knees and beg you to come back with him if he had to. He had to rectify his mistakes.
He didn’t even care if he got kicked out of the pack at this point. He didn’t care if he lost his other brothers love anymore. All he cared about was Seungkwan and his sadness. The sadness he could hear every night. He had to bring you back, for Seungkwan’s sake.
And he was gonna do whatever he could to make that happen. Even if it meant getting himself killed in the process, he had to. Because even if he managed to lead you back home, no amount of sorrys or forgive mes we’re gonna bring his brother’s mind back from the abyss he had put him through. No amount of kisses or hugs from you were gonna have his brother’s smile shine as bright as it once had. Seungkwan was always gonna remember the pain of you leaving due to Jihoon’s hard words and actions. No matter what Jihoon did to try and make it all up to Seungkwan, it would Never be Enough in his eyes.

Emma creeps through the building, eyes scanning each door for any indication of Elsa’s whereabouts. Robin told her in haste as she was leaving that Elsa lives in this building, too, but he failed to inform her of what unit she was in.
 As she walks the halls, a door opens slowly and reveals the face of someone she recognizes and is relieved to see. “Tink, hi.”
 “Looking for El?”
 She nods. “Killian asked me to make sure she’s safe.”
 “Is he okay?” she asks with concern. Emma almost smiles at how much his friend truly cares about him.
 “I don’t know,” she shakes her head. “They really hurt him.”
 Her voice is heated. She won’t get past the anger that boils the blood singing through her veins. They hurt the man she loves, and she isn’t sure how she’ll get past that fact without making someone pay.
 “Well, let’s get the hell out of here so we can get him help.”
 Tink shows her where Elsa’s apartment is and she knocks on the door, answered quickly and coldly. “Yes?”
 “Elsa,” Emma greets, confused by her clipped tone, less confused to see that she looks entirely unharmed. “Killian wanted me to check on you.”
 She scoffs, rolling her eyes. “I’m sure he did,” she says sarcastically.
“We have… we have a safe place for you. Come with us,” she tries. She doesn’t actually want to even bother convincing her, but she knows it’s what Killian wants.
 “Safe? You’re full of it.”
 She knew it. Killian feared that she had the information tortured out of her, unable to believe that she could have betrayed him with her own free will, but Emma had a sinking feeling that that wasn’t the case. Now, she thinks she’s right. “You told them,” she accuses.
 “Yes, I did. He should know better than to try to betray the club like that.”
 “He trusts you,” she tries. “He loves you because you loved his brother.”
 “I love my family,” she argues vapidly. “Killian tried to destroy it by shacking up with you and killing one of our own. He betrayed Neal, just because he can’t get over what happened to Liam.”
 Tink laughs, shaking her head, and Emma says, “They killed Liam! How can you not see that?”
 “Don’t tell me what I can or can’t see. You don’t know anything; you certainly don’t understand the inner workings of the club or why Peter makes the decisions he does.”
 Her thoughts are swirling in her head, moving too quickly as she tries to straighten out what Elsa says to her. She’s too forgiving, too accepting of what’s happened to the man she was supposed to love. Her actions have been too cruel. Someone who loves Killian wouldn’t have given him up; she wouldn’t be taking such a black and white stance if…
 “You knew,” she accuses knowingly, without needing to ask. “You’ve known all along that they killed Liam.”
 With a roll to her eyes, she says, “Liam’s actions no longer reflected his promise to the club. They did what needed to be done, and I understood that-- unlike you. The club has been my family long before Liam came around.”
 “How could you…” she whispers, unable to say anything more. She can hardly vocalize how horrified she is to learn that someone she thought was sweet and innocent has been working against the people who love her all along.
 With a scoff, she says, “I don’t have to explain myself to you. Go back to your real boyfriend, you slut. You’re lucky he even still wants you after all you’ve done to betray us.”
 “You’re a monster,” Emma grumbles, backing away from her. “I don’t know how you can do this to someone who really loves you.”
 The sting against her cheek is immediate and sharp, Elsa’s hand delivering a solid slap and making Emma and Tink gasp in unison. “The club loves me. They’ve taken care of me since I was a kid. Now get away from me before I tell Peter what you told me about a safe place,” she goads. “Go back home, and maybe you won’t get hurt.”
 “Like Killian did? And Liam?”
 “They got what they deserved. If you’re not careful, you will, too. I’m willing to look past this transgression, only because I know Neal loves you and thinks you’ll be a good candidate at carrying on the bloodline. But make no mistake; fuck up again and I’ll be taking this little conversation to Peter.”
 Emma couldn’t have convinced Elsa to come with them if she tried, because she wasn’t even able to try. The door slams in her face before she has a chance to get another word in.
 ~~~~
 His surroundings are barely visible before the pain sets in again.
 It’s blinding, no matter what he does. Opening his eyes is painful. Keeping them closed is, too.
 He doesn’t need to be awake to know where he is, either. The waves rocking the boat violently give away their location.
 “I think he’s waking up,” someone says with a voice he doesn’t recognize. “Get over here.”
 “Mate,” he hears from Rob, his voice vaguely recognizable through the fog in his brain. “Killian, come on.”
 “You shouldn’t have let him sleep. He probably has a concussion.”
 “You try stopping him.”
 “Shut up,” he groans, his lip cracking again as he speaks. Each of the men by his side laugh in relief.
 “Killian,” he hears Robin breathe. “You alright, mate?”
 He winces as he tries to take in a grounding breath, his ribs protesting vehemently. “Where is she?” he asks, barely recognizing the sound of his own voice.
 “Who’s that? The one looking for me?”
 “Emma,” Robin confirms, and Killian forces his eyes open. He only hopes that the look he gives his friend is enough to relay his fear and anger at him telling this stranger anything about the woman he loves. Doesn't he know she’s in danger already? “Don’t look at me like that, mate,” he says, although Killian can detect a hint of relief in his voice at seeing his open eyes.
 “What did you do?” he asks, unable to expend the energy it would take to say much more.
 “This is David. You, and especially Emma, might recognize him as James Spencer.”
 Killian groans as he lifts his head, the crushing pain of his headache almost unbearable. Truthfully, he thought he would be worse off. Sure, he’s quite certain several ribs are broken, and he worries that he might have a fracture or two in his cheek from how many times Cassidy beat on him, but the pain isn’t quite as bad as he expected it to be.
 It’s still bloody excruciating, though.
 “Spencer,” he answers, looking at the familiar stranger. “The cop?”
 He nods. “You’re girlfriend’s good. I’m with the FBI now, deep undercover. I thought we’d buried everything.”
 “Of course she is,” he agrees, trying to take a breath deep enough to actually fill his lungs. He digs his fingers into the thin mattress and winces. “So, what now? Where is she?”
 “She’s meeting me here,” Robin tells him.
 “You left her alone?” he asks angrily.
 “You told her to round up Tink and Elsa. Begged her. I had to get you the hell out of there before they bloody killed you.”
 “Why the hell would you listen to me?” he grumbles, rolling his eyes painfully. “How long has she been gone?”
 Looking down to his watch, Robin answers, “About two hours. But she’s smart, she’ll get out of there alright.”
 He can’t even answer, can’t even tell his friend how stupid it was to let Emma go off on her own, unprotected, before Nolan speaks up. “Your friend tells me you always seem to have a plan.”
 “Give me some water and something to get rid of this damn headache and I’ll be much more amenable to talking.”
 He can barely keep up with his surroundings, too disoriented and dizzy and in too much blinding pain to keep his eyes open or to form a coherent thought beyond his worry for Emma. He isn’t even sure how much time passes, how long it takes for the glass of water to appear in his hand.
 “I checked you out,” David says after what must have been a few minutes, the water finally washing away the taste of blood from his mouth. “I have field training. I think you have some cracked ribs, but I don’t think your face is broken.”
 With a sigh and a roll to his eyes, Killian says, “Well aren’t I lucky.”
 The medication he gives him sets in after a few minutes more, numbing the pain slightly and making it so that Killian can finally breathe in enough oxygen to not feel like he’s drowning. Satisfied with the lessened pain, he takes another gulp of water and says, “Aye, I think I have a plan.”
 “Go on.”
 “Peter’s on a rampage, ready to destroy whoever he can, but I’m assuming that if you’re here, the Kings of Elsinore must be close.” David nods in agreement. “He doesn’t know they’re coming. He planned to attack them first. Have your gang found the Lost Boy’s clubhouse yet?”
 “No.”
 “Good. We can tell you where to find them and you can set up a raid with the FBI, take both clubs down at once. On one condition.”
 A particularly forceful wave rocks the boat again, the one that’s all too familiar to Killian, and sends David stumbling to the right. Killian’s stomach flips once more. “What’s that?” he asks once he gets his bearings.
 Despite his pain, and his desperate need for some chapstick, Killian smirks. “You’re going to help us get out of this mess.”
 ~~~~
 It’s almost midnight by the time Neal finally falls asleep. His adrenaline and anger has kept him up, his anger directed at his plaything being taken from him rather than his girlfriend potentially being hurt before he finally crashes. He hasn’t even noticed her swollen, red cheek, too busy focusing on his rage.
 She plays it up dramatically, acting like she’s relieved that he finally found out and got her out of the dangerous situation, while also terrified at the fact that it happened. Really, she knows she’ll be having a similar, but still drastically different, exchange with Killian the moment this is over.
 She takes a final look around the apartment once he’s sleeping, looking for one thing and one thing only and unable to find it. She isn’t sure what he’s done to her only possession; the children’s book is the only thing she cares about aside from her friends' safety. But she isn’t surprised to know that he stole or destroyed it given his complete disregard for her well-being in any capacity.
 She sneaks out the front door, content to never return, and creeps down the hall towards Olivia’s unit.
 “It’s time,” she says once she gets there, her voice just above a whisper.
 As they quietly tiptoe across the dock once they arrive, she briefly wonders how Robin will know of their arrival, before her question is answered for her. He pokes his head out of the cabin of a rather large yacht, and Emma scans the area before hurrying towards him.
 “You made it,” he exclaims, taking her backpack and helping her onto the deck of the boat. “Where’s Elsa?”
 “Where’s Killian?” she asks, willing to ignore his question and put her out of her mind a bit longer.
 “Below deck. He’s awake.”
 She’ll tell them about Elsa soon. Right now, she has more important things to worry about, and she can’t imagine bursting Killian’s bubble once again by telling him the truth.
 Stepping down into the cabin is daunting. The boat reminds her of the clubhouse, weapons on display wherever they can fit. She wonders about how safe that can be, the clubs and knives and primitive looking tools bound to fall eventually with the way the waves are rocking the boat.
 “Killian,” she exclaims, excitement to see him sitting up on his own taking over her resolve to stay strong for him. The tears are leaking from her eyes before she even realizes she’s about to cry, and she hurries towards him. The last time she saw him, he was so broken that she was worried she would lose him.
 He breathes her in when she collides with him, wincing as she puts too much pressure on his ribs but not releasing his firm hold on her.
 “You alright?” he asks her, his lips brushing against her neck as he speaks. Leave it to him to worry about her after he was beaten within an inch of his life. His hand reaches up to touch her cheek, the redness fading but evidently still noticeable enough, at least to a man who truly cares about her. “What did he do?”
 “I’m fine,” she answers. She wants to crawl onto his lap and hold him in her arms for the rest of their lives, but she knows she can’t. They have to move. “Can we go now?”
 “Where’s El?” he asks, confused.
 Robin interrupts, not letting Emma answer, and says, “we can’t go yet, unless we want to get arrested. Emma, meet Special Agent David Nolan.”
 Her eyes widen when she looks up and sees a man she recognizes, stunned to have his identity confirmed for her. “James Spencer,” she says, nodding her head. “So you are undercover?”
 “I am. Props to you for figuring it out, although it’s a bit disconcerting.”
 “I didn’t tell anyone,” she shrugs. The agent laughs. “Plus, I thought you were just a cop.”
 “Close enough.”
 “Emma,” Killian says softly, his hand closing around hers and squeezing again. “Where's Elsa? What happened to you?”
 She bites her bottom lip when she looks into his eyes again and is met with his painful stare. It’s unfair that she has to be the one to tell him this. That a woman he thought was his family should betray him like this and she has to be the one to pass the information along and to see the look on his face when she does.
 “Killian,” she answers softly. “Olivia and I went to her and tried to get her to come with us. We told her we had a safe way out, that we would help her escape. But she wanted nothing to do with us.”
 He touches her face again, the concern written across his face pulling at her heart. “What happened?” he nearly whispers.
 “She said some awful things,” Tink tells him. “Emma told her she was being stupid, essentially-- ripped her a new one for selling you out-- and El gave her a good slap.”
 His fingers dance along her tender skin once more as he shakes his head in disappointment and disbelief. “She did this to you?”
 “I’m sorry, I didn’t want to tell you--”
 His lips find hers effortlessly, his touch gentle and delicate and careful not to let things between them get too passionate while they still have an audience. She’ll have to tell him about Liam eventually, but it’s too much right now. He’s so broken, and she worries that telling him that his sister-in-law knew about his brother's death could put him over the edge when he has to focus on healing. “I’m sorry,” he murmurs. “I can’t believe she would--”
 “I’m sorry to interrupt, but we really should get moving. The SWAT team will be here soon.”
 “SWAT?”
 “Love, David is planning a raid on the clubhouse. We’re going to give him the club’s location in exchange for our freedom and immunity during any investigations.”
 She lets her jaw drop in surprise, her expectations of their evening completely shattering before her. “Oh shit…”
 “Aye,” Killian confirms. “We just need to figure a way to get them all to the clubhouse. We need Peter to call another family meeting, but me simply being gone likely wouldn’t be enough of a reason.”
 “If I may,” David offers, Emma looking up from Killian’s distracting eyes at him. “Isn’t she the leader’s girlfriend?”
 “She is called Emma, and if you think she is going back there, you might as well just haul me off to jail right now because I’ll bloody beat--”
 “Killian!” she insists, placing her hand on his and squeezing to try and calm him down. “Just hear him out. He might be onto something.”
 He turns to her, his cheeks flushed in his pain and anger. “I’m not sending you back there! You just left; I’ll die before I let anything more happen to you.”
 She rolls her eyes, but it’s only to protect herself. The fact is, he did almost die in favor of letting anything happen to her. “No you won’t,” she says definitively. She stands from her place beside him and looks seriously at the agent. “What did you have in mind?”
 “Emma--”
 She turns around sharply. “After everything you’ve been through today, don’t you dare tell me I can’t do something to protect you. We can end this, Killian. We won’t be on the run; we’ll be completely free to live the lives we want.” Turning back to David, she asks, “Right?”
 “She’s right,” he agrees, though he’s looking at Killian. “With all of your cooperation, I’m positive I can get you off scot free.”
 “Killian,” she whispers, sitting back at his side and taking his hand once more. “I can do this.”
 “I know,” he agrees immediately with a firm nod, a look of consternation on his pained face. “I’ve yet to see you fail. I just hate that I have to put you through this.”
 “You’re not,” she promises. “I am. And I’ll be fine. I can handle Neal.”
 “Aye, you’ve proven that much,” he smiles, his hand finding her cheek again. His eyes are starting to look heavier and heavier, whatever he was given for the pain taking over his consciousness again. “You’re a mighty strong lass.”
 “You sound so much more British when you’re high,” she laughs, leaning over to kiss his broken bottom lip softly.
 “I just happen to know you like my accent,” he flirts, and she giggles in response, pecking the tip of his nose.
 “Alright, my love,” she whispers. “I’ll be back before you know it.”
 ~~~~
 “Neal,” she whispers when she arrives in his bedroom. Their plan is a solid one, fully formed and ready to be put into action. That fact doesn’t make her any less anxious.
 Killian gave David plenty of information on the club before she’d arrived. He told him about the millions in merchandise they’ve stolen, and where to find the pieces and the blueprints for evidence. He told them about the countless murders they’ve committed, including that of his own brother and where his body can be found. He told them about the illegal pornography business they’ve been running, and in exchange, David and his team will look past Olivia’s involvement.
 Now, all that’s left is to gather the club for a family meeting and wait for the shooting to start.
 She won’t be there, though. She and Killian made sure of that, making a plan just before he fell asleep and just after David left to make a call to his superiors.
 “Neal, baby, wake up,” she says, appealing to his distorted senses and shaking his shoulders.
 “What is it?” he asks grumpily, pushing her hands away.
 “I found something.”
 He groans and snaps, “Just tell me what it is.”
 She clears her throat awkwardly and says, “I was able to pin Spencer’s last known location. He’s here, in Storybrooke. I think the whole gang is.”
 He sits up suddenly, his eyes glowing meanly in the moonlight and making her shudder. “An attack,” he says, his tone definite, as if he’s the one who figured this out.
 He doesn’t bother to even question how she found out, but she’s fine with that. “I think we should ask Peter to call a family meeting. This changes the whole plan, right?”
 “You’re right,” he agrees. “Come on, get dressed.”
 For once in her miserable relationship with him, she happily does as he commands.
It was a whole cat and mouse game at the beginning.
You know how it's always portrayed that all cats and mice despise each other? Well maybe it's because the friend and foe never really go together since they indulge in a much predator and prey relationship. That's how you and Ten's blooming relation started.
Just like any other fable, or the famous cartoon, might as well be a life lesson, Tom and Jerry; Ten and you never got along. You weren't meant to get along. After all, which super agency's top sniper would befriend a wild criminal? Apparently you did. You'd always find yourself letting Ten off the hook each time in the last minute. The lad was fun to have around. And just like any other untold truth of the behinds of a story, the mice in your story was also only just a misunderstood soul. Ten was more than what he portrayed himself to be.
Chasing Ten and catching him, the first glimpse was your mission. Bringing him back to the headquarters dead or alive was your mission. To turn a deaf ear to anything and everything he'd let out was your mission. To heartlessly end him if he pulled a smart stunt was your mission. But having him voice out his thought processes and you gladly listening to the entirety of it was most definitely not your mission.
You'd been known as the top all rounder sniper of your agency, one for your amazing skills, two for your ability to make ends meet, and three for being a kind soul yet thick skulled if the situation called for it. Your boss, the head, of course ended up assigning a very confusing mission to you as, for the matter of fact, were a very trusted pawns of his. It was intriguing yet confusing because you weren't given much insights on why you're asked to serve summons on him.
Ten on the other hand was to this point, tired of running. Hurt. Wounded by having to bear the weights of his family when all he'd wanted was to lead a normal life of his own. To not wake up in cold sweat, fearing for whether his days would shorten the next second. To make it until arvo without anyone, or anything hot on his trail. To make his way back home from his work space; a small corner dance studio where he'd teach the one's who'd not be able to afford trying to learn at those fancy known dance studios who charged way more than what's required, without having someone tackle him to the floor. To sleep after supper without having to wake up every other minute, paranoid whether one of those people trailed him back home and somehow managed to sneak in.
"He's still watching ,you know?" Ten rasped out loud enough for only the two of you to hear his voice which helped you step out of the cloud of guilt for what you were about to do.
You, just as assigned, started immediately. Still confused, of course. The boy seemed little to not harmless at all. But nevertheless, you went about it. Watching the boy feed stray animals on the way, smile brightly at passerby's, buy a drink or two for the hungered on the pathway, keep the dangered ones accompany on a night walk, he seemed like a moral, ideal member for the lacking society, nothing like the heartless murderer he'd been described to be.
"I know, b..but i can't, Ten" you sigh out, shutting your lids tight to clear up your blurred vision.
He seemed to be the only calm in the chaotic, messed up world you lived in. Now obviously, you did try catching him each time only to let him go, thinking of all those out in the streets and beyond waiting for their daily dose of hope in this dark realm. And to keep a close eye on the said predator, of course.
Finding him crouched down by the alley turn towards his usual workplace, you found it a little heartbreaking to continue heartlessly end him. He seemed so.. vulnerable, broke, and nothing like the walking sunshine he'd been since the beginning of your mission and definitely nothing of that of a murderer. He seemed just like the misunderstood feline in all fables who are usually portrayed as the predator and heartless and only wanting to fulfill their needs type. But much matured and smart you'd finally, spiritually understand the personality of the character, hurt, scared, 'does want to care and show it to all but scared to be misjudged again is what they really are.
"Oh? That most definitely wasn't how you felt when you'd first initially pointed the same rifle at me, remember?" Ten chuckles from in front of you, still in the uncomfortable, cornered, back pressed to the brick wall with your left arm on his chest the other pointing straight to the middle of his skull. His retort making you let out an airy, shaky laugh of your own.
The first time you'd done it, your eyes were fueled with determination, you'd get this done and there would be nothing bold enough to dare stop you, except Ten, he was bold enough apparently. "That department store just got mobbed and you're going to stand with a stupid toy gun pointed at me who's not proven guilty of anything? Seems right enough for me that you work as a puppet for that messed up government," your eyes widen at his statement, turning back to see nothing but a tranquil customer filled store, turning back to the lad to find him out of sight. Ten lee had relatively gotten much more experienced and better and running out of sight, "Ten, You drive me crazy," you speak through gritted teeth.
"You were the first one to outrun me, you know?" you lean closer, only to hear your colleagues get their own weapons off safety and ready to fire any second,
"Now, isn't that why you're so drawn to me? Your work would've been so much more boring if it weren't for me, if anything, you're welcome." Ten replied smugly, proud of all his interactions too absurd to be categorized as normal, nevertheless the few of moments in his life that makes him happy thinking back at it. "Tsk," you slightly pout, feeling your eyes glaze over the nth time that night, this would all soon fade into memory and for what? For the fact that no one was ever ready to listen to the wrongly framed.
"Is the target acting hard to surrender, Agent 02?" you hear from your in ear piece, immediately responding with the most stable voice you could muster, "No, Sire, not at all," you reply, "Then why is it taking you so long, Ms. Y/l/n?"
"It's time, isn't it?" Ten asked with a sad smile on his face. All the days of running were finally coming to an end yet he felt like that wouldn't make up to all his lost days. Yes, he was more than grateful to you. For showing something humane exists where no one ever tried caring for what the other does or says. He liked that, though with the choice of path or career that called for some serious human emotion control, you nevertheless wanted to remain human. Ground to earth, and kind enough to valid his feelings. Valid his existence. Valid him and not see him as a target of any sort.
"I don't want to, Ten. I could try explaining this to them-but-"
"But they aren't like you, they work for those on a higher post and won't stop even when given a solid reason to and you know that better than anyone else," Ten explained rather calmly.
"Yes, but you don't deserve this.." You let your voice waver, finally, gripping the deadly weapon tightly, mindful to keep your fingers away from the trigger, "Agent 02, pull the trigger when I count down to 1." you flinch at the sudden voice interrupting the intimate moment between you and your now, friend.
"15.."
"I shouldn't have accepted the tasks, then i wouldn't have had to be the one doing this, and i wouldn't have had to meet you, and right now, at this moment, more than anything, I wish i'd never met you," You scramble through your words to form coherent sentences and the stipulated time you're given,
Ten laughs out a closed mouth laugh, "14.."
"Really? But i don't wish so," He hums, closing his eyes to fully indulge in your warmth. The same familiar warmth that embraced him during one of the most vulnerable nights of his life. The same warmth that kept him company on each day following all while still radiating coldness of suspicion, "13.."  which slowly but surely turned into nothing but warmth all after uncoiling what most before you didn't even bother to, "12.."
"It's not that I wish i didn't meet you, it's just i wish we'd met in different circumstances," One where you wouldn't have to go for all the cat and mouse chase all over again, where he'd be, "11.." a normal bachelor and you'd be one too, who'd oh so much in a cliché manner meet at a café,
"Well, we don't get everything we wish for now, do we?" His voice sounded so exhausted, yet, no hints of fear or despise or cruelty shone through. Just exhaustion, and maybe a bit of….relief? "10.."
"Ten, we still have a chance. I can still give it a..-"
"Y/n, look at me."
"You being ready enough, human enough to study me thoroughly before conclusion has been more than enough for me to prove that humanity still exists, that listener still exists. And I wouldn't want anyone, rather you put an end to this little game of ours,``''9.."
"You need to do nothing else other than stay the same, " he started once again, this time, finally allowing his vulnerability to shine through his voice, "8..", "And to do the same you'd done with me with all those potential targets of your people," "But Ten, just-" "7.."
"It's either you or me, doll. Your helpers there look more than ready to shoot any betrayer," "Then so be it! But i can't.. I can't get myself to- I love you, i car-" "6.."
"There. The only words that were left for me to hear," "5.."
"Your people seem generous enough to let me go in this much of a, how do I put it? Grand.. Way?" "Ten I've got 5 seconds to change my mind, I can do something you know?-"
"Y/n, my love. You're making this hard for both of us, so.. "
He did the said stunt move your head had warned you about, swiftly shifting your positions so that you were the one pressed against the unbelievably uncomfortable wall making your eyes widen, words "I love you too, doll" and "Fire!" mixed together, all you could see the next moment was a small smile on the lads face, red seeping through the material of his white hoodie before his now lifeless body slouched and fell right in front of you.
The misunderstood had been deprived of their life once again.
