omg im here asking about the 2019 show pennyworth i never watched it but i did watch Gotham and i loved that? what was your favorite thing about pennyworth?

i am so excited to hear you say this.

it's "allegedly" a gotham prequel, but unless lucius fox is immortal and some very wild secrets are being kept it's not really.

it''s like gotham as a spy drama. i saw someone refer to it as "if james bond had a kid with austin powers, also alfred keeps fucking heads of state" which is wholly accurate.

my favorite thing is how much of a fucking lunatic everyone in the show is, and how much you can tell the writers love batman. genuinely you can just watch a few scenes of martha, thomas, and alfred interacting and can almost visualize bruce through them. it's so fascinating.

also the fact that bruce wayne just has a sister that nobody ever mentions is a lovely fun addition and makes it being connected to gotham make even less sense but it makes it so fun. i've never had as much fun watching a batman show and I truly feel like it captures the insane fun kooky stuff the comics have in a way most batman adaptations refuse to.

all the relationships are well written and thought out, and the writers are amazing at using subtlety and hinting at things. it's such a shame that it was canceled, but honestly, they would've gone where I wanted them to so I can now create an ending.

(they were cowards who would've never added john constantine in despite him being 16 and also in london in s3)

once I read up more on certain comic characters to get them accurate i'm going to be writing a fic that you don't have to watch pennyworth for but is still based on it.

Win: she's incredibly chuffed that Caroline was in Coronation Street. The whole family sat and watched *The New Worst Witch* and Fred will never ever, ever admit to how flustered he was by the Miss Hardbroom costume.

Sam: would have much preferred Jack to have played Batman, but omfg young Alfred Pennyworth will do, that's phenomenal.

Joan: she and Sam watched s3 of Shetland and s2 of Guilt. Their parents are banned from seeing either. She is rather jealous of Sara's accent.

Fred: "Oh for goodness' sake, why couldn't Roger be playing a Labour minister instead?!" "To be fair, Dad, I can absolutely imagine you declaring that you're bored of this and are going for a Twix." "What has Morse been telling yoooou... HANG ON THAT LIBERAL MAN LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE A MAN THAT TRIED TO KILL ME!" "WHO TRIED TO KILL YOU, FRED, AND WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME!??!" Anyway, they all watched that Globe *Tempest* together, and Joan refrained heroically from making pointed comments about Prospero's behaviour with Miranda re Ferdinand (at least Roger's Prospero is a lot less... weird about his daughter than some). Win absolutely doesn't have a crush on both Douglas Richardson and Antoine Verlaque, shut up. Fred's been humming "Stars" from Les Mis under his breath at work and it's driving Morse absolutely mad.

Now I've seen 3.10, couple of points about the Pennyworth S3 finale.

The sequence in the beginning where various characters almost drink the milk in their tea and then don't was hilariously classic suspense building

Sandra being 1000% done with Alfred's shenanigans and nvm the crowd of people high on the lullaby drug who want to kill her, she wants to have it out

Martha and Thomas' entire conversation with Thomas wondering why can't we just go back to being a normal family again and Martha pointing out because they're not, they're a f*cked up family and then both of them just give up and roll with it. They are f*cked up, but very loving.

Martha determined to go save Lucius Fox

Aziz unofficially telling Martha not that he would condone this but if some independent party (and he has no idea who that would be) were to go to Level 7 to save Lucius Fox he would not be completely miserable about it.

the blue P-Dub doing karaoke to Staying Alive was not on my bingo card

Sandra and Alfred are adorable. I hope nothing awful happens to Sandra. Maybe they have a good relationship for a while, then bicker, and part ways, and then Alfred winds up in Gotham without Sandra.

Bet leading the slomo hero-run of the p-dubs. 10/10 would watch again

The doubledecker escaping London bus full of p-dubs and assorted pub people stopping outside the Waynes to collect them. Lunacy.

Daveboy's better qualities are showing more and more. He is smart, and he is brave. I can see why Alfred relies on him.

Aziz and Thursday's unhinged back and forth via the red phone. I don't think Aziz is really gone.
