Penguin Tournament!

Welcome to another tumblr bracket competition! I have been inspired by many other brackets, particularly @whaleswagbracket, to make a bracket about penguins!

(Penguins are my favorite animal, and I am a nerd, so here we are.)

There are 17-19 species of penguins, depending how many Rockhopper penguins you classify (out of Eastern, Southern, and Northern). For this tournament, since I only had 16 slots, I've decided to combine all Rockhoppers into a single species.

I've also decided to combine Macaroni penguins and Royal penguins because some scientists classify the Royal penguin as a subspecies of the Macaroni. I personally see them as different species, but I needed 16 species and this seemed the fairest. I wouldn't want to exclude anyone!

The match-ups are randomly generated. I looked over them, and it should be fair.

I will be including a fact or two, plus an image, about each species on every poll. :)

“Draconia” appears to be a bastardization of “draco/draconis” (latin for dragon). I cannot verify the validity of that specifically, but hes based off maleficent so hes certainly being named after dragons in one way or another

"Noir Fontaine...? I'll admit, I'd never been to France before. Although going so far for a vacation was a bit out of my wheelhouse... I preferred to stay closer to home. Seeing the aftermath of what happened to my home planet, though... I'll admit it was pretty sobering. Anyways, how are you enjoying your vacation so far?" (This ask is from a human OC who ended up on Pop Star - and yes, he did end up visiting Shiver Star. Seeing Earth after the 'big freeze' was... an experience for him.)

Penguins of Madagascar:

This has always been my favourite movie, it's hilarious and the characters are funny. This shapeshifter octopus called Dave wants to turn all the penguins from certain zoos across the world into monsters because he was kicked out of loads of zoos because of the penguins and he's out for revenge, and 4 penguins have to stop him. One of the best running gags is whenever he's talking to his minions he says the names of famous celebrities - "Drew, Barry, more power", "High, Jack, man the battle stations", "Kevin, bake on, we're still gonna need that victory cake" being some of the best.

Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva:

THE videogame movie. No videogame movie is better. An animated movie! With puzzles in it! And the original voice actors! And it's plot relevant! And it has the best mixture of nostalgic vs. new music for the soundtrack! Epic battles! Also, because it's a Layton thing, you cry at the end!!

The sword fight in Eternal Diva will be ingrained in my memory forever

Penelope Blossom (Riverdale) Propaganda

Bit of an evil bitch but I love her for it.

She is the mother of Cheryl and the late Jason Blossom, as well as the adopted sister and wife of the deceased Clifford Blossom.

Penelope suffered severe third-degree burns when running back into Thornhill to save the family portrait after Cheryl set fire to the house in an effort to "start over" with a clean slate. This gave Cheryl the opportunity to control her mother the same way she controlled and abused Cheryl.

She is also a serial killer, who poisons men who she claims are the real "poison," having taken the lives of her late husband Clifford Blossom, his brother Claudius, Darryl Doiley, Felix Featherhead, and Hal Cooper.

Round 4 - FINALS

Last round had some very intense competition! Little Blue managed to beat the iconic Emperor penguin, while the Adélie beat its cousin the Chinstrap.

A couple of facts to take with us into the finals: Little Blue penguins are also called Little penguins, Blue penguins, or Fairy penguins. They are the smallest penguin species. Adélie penguins are recognizable by their solid black and white sections, as well as the white ring around their eyes.
