You are thrust out of your communion. With enough force that you hit the back of the wood, and your eyes burn like you had been staring into the sun itself.

kinda love how Nick and Taliesin are playing their characters and reminding us that Pelor is not just "Don't fucking look into the sun or you'll blind yourself" and droughts and stuff, he's also the thing that warms the earth and the thing that reminds people to keep going and daylight after a long moonless night
and Melora is not just the thing that saved Fjord and makes trees grow and is loving and kind, she's also the kind of ocean that breaks boats and she is quicksand and poison ivy and natural selection and she does not (usually) pick favorites because nature waits for no one

Ioun: "The only way to protect this world is to step away from it and seal the door behind us."
The Matron: "This is the only home I've ever known."
Melora: "This was ours. We, we... no! No!"
Erathis: "Look how far they came, my love. The almost overtook us by force."
The Matron: "If we do this it protects them from the others as well."
Pelor: "We protect them."
Erathis: "Do we? Look at what you've wrought, Dawnfather."
The Matron: "I have ushered many souls this day."
Erathis: "We killed them for being good. My heart is tired."

I didn’t want Father to be right. I wanted to save them. Why must it always be like this?
Ayden shedding his mortal form—one of my favourite moments from the whole miniseries! ☀️Brennan as Asmodeus just hits every single time without fail what can I say

sorry not to always make everything about vex’ahlia de rolo (everything is always about her actually) but something that i have been gnawing on for the past 20 hours is nick’s beautiful narration of the dawnfather with a tear streaming off his face into the ocean and taking with it the part of ayden that hoped. and then centuries from that moment, another mortal spun up in his hubris threatens the balance and the protection of mortals that the dawnfather once cried over and a group of loving idiots walk into his realm looking for and to help and he looks upon a woman who once prayed to him under a tree to help protect the city of her beloved — to protect her city — and who jumped into a purifying flame uncertain if she was worthy of survival and when the people who love her argue for her worth, when she comes out the other side unharmed, he smiles and he says “there is hope.” what if i lost my mind. what if the symmetry of stories told by different people in different times with hundreds of interconnecting threads ruined my life actually.
