i know Bastogne is universally recognized as the Best Band of Brothers episode and listen, I get it and also agree in the sense that the story portrayed is the most interesting and overall it's incredibly well written. but I'd just like to point out the excellence that's episode 5, "Crossroads."

(Crossroads is the episode that focuses the most on Dick Winters — ep 1, 2, and later 10 also do but it's not as centralized as it is here — We follow Dick through an anachronistic series of events, and the episode ends with E company moving towards Bastogne. It's directed by Tom Hanks.)

I love this episode because of all the different creative choices it has and how it stands out visually and sonically in comparison to all the other eps. so in technical aspects, it's my favorite of the bunch. this distinction is exemplary in the sequences that go from Dick writing his report quietly in his office to him leading the attack on the SS companies. It's very interesting to me how loud and obnoxious the typing gets for both Dick and the audience after a while; in the battlefield, there's nothing to pull Dick out of his concentration, always the focused leader. he has a mission to do, and he intends to carry it out as smoothly as possible (as seen in this episode). in the office, though, he's distracted, losing track of time, almost physically feeling the noises of the typewriter as if it was the sound of a gun going off inside his ears.

the back and forth between time periods is amazing. the sound design in this episode is my personal favorite (in a show with explosions and rifles, you wouldn't think a clacking typewriter and a man out of breath would be the reason for this). the combined sounds of Dick writing with the gunshots going off, the change in paragraphs with the tearing of the tape? Dick and the company running towards the enemy (clearly screaming) with nothing but the sounds of their breaths and footsteps making noise? just excellent sound design.

also, the cinematography. I could talk for hours about how good this episode's photography and lighting are. there's this particular moment I love after Alley is shown to be hit and bleeding on the barn table, where we immediately cut to Dick writing about this in his report. it's all about the stark contrast between the lived experience of seeing one of your men badly wounded and then simply writing and reading about it.

the night shots as well. it's very easy to fail in making a night scene both properly lit but also indicative of the time (some shows make it look dark as shit basically), but Band of Brothers does it well: in the first pic, you only have the moonlight as illumination, which is not much, but it helps to get you into Dick's perspective of having to go through this mission in the depths of night with such a limited field of vision.

there's several night scenes in this episode, most notably the battle on the Crossroads, but also Operation Pegasus, the night Moose is shot, Dick in Paris, and then Easy company going into Bastogne.

finally, the color grading. band of brothers is a strange show that's always changing in its color grading — maybe the different directors had no prior discussion before filming the episodes, as it happened with the writers' room, but I doubt this — nevertheless, Crossroads' color grading stands out, specially in the long-awaited scene of E company charging against the SS companies.

the high contrast of the dark shadows with the desaturated greens (and later reds) make for quite a sight, especially if you compare it to the warmer tones of the present scenes of Dick writing. the show wants you to know how different these moments are for Dick, who under fire is collected and focused but is ultimately crumbling under the bureaucratic pressure.

also I freaking love all the shots and framing of the typewriter. nothing to say other than they're cool as hell.

and this isn't even covering the emotional and character-driven aspects of the story! (that's a post for another day, maybe). for me Crossroads is a masterpiece of an episode in what it means to use camera, lighting, and sound to make your story as immersing as possible; it connects beautifully all technical aspects of filmmaking and, in my opinion, delivers one of the show's best episodes (that's accompanied with a great script.)

Percy Jackson Review/My Thoughts

I Accidentally Vaporized My Pre-Algebra Teacher

The opening scene is absolutely perfect. 10/10 Uncle Rick.

Please, please, please, pleeaaassseee tell me the Pegasus on the rooftop was Blackjack. I am begging.

Sally told Percy, "Not everyone who looks like a hero is a hero. And not everyone who looks like a monster is a monster," foreshadowing to Medusa.

Gabe is more of comic relief and I'm not sure how I feel about it.

Sally Jackson listening to Logical by Olivia Rodrigo is the best because 1. I love that song and 2. she's listening to it in the rain.

d'Angelos sandwich shoppe?? Like Nico di Angelo? Please, please, please, please, please.

"You fell in love with God? Like Jesus??!" crying laughing. "A God..." followed by Sally sloppily trying to tell Percy he's a half-blood

No, mom, I'm not a God's kid there's something wrong with my brain. OMG I didn't know whether to laugh or cry in this scene.

"Grover, why is there half a goat in your PANTS?!?!" "So the important thing is not to panic."

"Is that the (voice crack) Minotaur??" Oh my, Walker you are perfect.

"I'm actually 24.." This had me rooollling.

Sally is already badass and I can't wait for The Last Olympian when Mama Jackson is shooting monsters with a GUN.

Grover swearing to Sally that Percy would be safe made me sad but it would have been 100000x worse if he swore on Styx.

"You are not broken, you are a miracle, and you are my son. Hold fast Percy."

Sally evaporating into dust hurt watching a lot more than reading, and

OMG OMG OMG baby Percy holding riptide and it glowing and my heart is crying I can't tell if it's tears of pain of joy but my heart and my eyes are crying.

"He's the one." "Hush, Annabeth." I was hoping to see her but we don't see her yet lmao

The end credits scene looks a lot like the same illustration for the covers of the paperback books.

When I saw this ep was only a half hour I was genuinely disappointed.

Dior's acting in this and her emotion when Clarisse's spear broke is perfection.

Never picked up on Annabeth calling Percy Sunshine

2. I Become Supreme Lord of the Bathroom

My first thought: scary lightning and delirious Percy.

My second thought: "You drool in your sleep," Annabeth said, arms crossed and glaring at Percy while Percy is confused.

My third thought: this is the scene in the books where Percy notices Annabeth looks like an actual Princess lmao.

This is a change from the books because she didn't know who his father was and wanted him to be a Zeus kids.

Percy immediately going from "good luck finding three idiots to complete this quest" to "When do we leave."

3. We Visit the Garden Gnome Emporium

Walker's voice cracks are so adorable.

I love that Percy immediately chose Annabeth bcuz "I don't see us ever being friends"

We find out Grover's interest in Pan a lot earlier than in the books. We don't see that until at least book 3.

We get to see the echidna. I really wanted it to be the Chimera to look like a poodle.

I hate Athena because she sent the echinda into her temple because annabeth "embarassed" her. Like really? Worst mother of the year.

I've such conflicting (but mostly) negative opinions about dubbed anime. If so much of it wasn't just "strong American accents trying so hard not to sound like they're reading from a script but they clearly are" then it'd be great.

I'm not an elitist, about anything really (not that I can think of, but maybe there's something idk I'm tired), but I will always pick sub over dub. Am I able to properly analyse subbed anime and the voice work done on it? No. That'd be ignorant. The way a character says "nande? nande da yo!?" in Japanese vs a character saying "what? what?!" in American English is obviously going to sound different. And I can't find flaws when I hear Japanese voices. But maybe people who speak Japanese can. Because if I'm listening to that "what?" in English and it sounds forced, scripted, not passionate enough, bland, too angry, etc then I'll know its bad. Cause its my first language. And maybe Japanese people can tell when voice acting is bad in Japanese. Idk. Sometimes I've been able to. I can tell when a Japanese VA does not want to be there but wants a paycheck.

But for the most part, I'm pretty much sold on Japanese voice work. They're passionate about their job. It FEELS like they're there to try their best. And after having only watched subs since, idk, 2010? I'll be quite harsh on dubs. But here's the thing. I'm biased. Any dubs I seen pre-2010 I vouch for being good. Why? Because I originally watched them dubbed. Inuyasha and Death Note being the main ones. And due to that, I constantly re-watch them dubbed. Its actually hard for me to connect them to their Japanese VA's. Now, to give Inuyasha some credit, when you watch the first good few eps, they're not... the greatest. Just some voices trying to match their mouths to the characters and it sounds so off. But then... then they get the hang of it. And they get better at it.

Death Note I believe is the overall best dub.

YGO... ok. How do I even talk about YGO...

Removing Kaiba bc people have literally said no other dub voice could ever replace his and be able to portray that asshole more perfectly, I think the YGO dub is decent. I don't fault anyone for saying its bad. I think the overall consensus is that its a good dub with terrible (but classic) dialogue. If they'd had the same script as the Japanese version, it'd be brilliant.

People can argue about Joey's accent, Bakura's accent, and say "why give them those accents tho", but Joey speaking in that accent is better than literally 99% of Americans giving generic American voices to characters to the point that they all sound the same. PLUS, Wayne Grayson portrays Joey's emotions brilliantly. And its a personal thing to me, but I like Bakura being British. If others dont, that's fine. I know he can sorta come across as Stereotypical British Villain as Deadpool calls it, but I think he's sassy and I like it. Some voices are a NO. The actor that portrays Noah is the most famous actor (not even VA, he's in movies and shit), but his voice is awful. Same for Marik, and Yami Marik, and Weevil. But then Pegasus comes in perfectly. And Anzu doesn't sound forced. And then some are just ok, like Tristan and Ishizu. Dan Green is debatable.

Like I said, I can only vouch for two good dubs. Maybe if I'd seen Kuroshitsuji dubbed I wouldn't think its so terrible and gave it more of a chance than one episode. But I don't know...

Because as of now, I've seen 10 Attack on Titan dub episodes and fuck me......... they sound like Power Rangers every time they talk. In the Japanese, I feel... inspired? In the dub I'm like "could they have not said this line as a normal human being would???????"

The Sandman more like The Sadman. (Review)

Listen, I wanted to put up 10 things I like about The Sandman kasi may 10 eps siya, but I don’t have enough words and energy to create a cohesive list of how much I love this series.

 The Sandman is an adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s comic with the same title, and it tells the story of Lord Morpheus a.k.a. Dream a.k.a. The Sandman (he has a lot of names so for my sake, we will call him Dream.) Dream was imprisoned by mortals when he went outside his realm, The Dreaming, to follow a nightmare that is creating havoc amongst humans. He spent a century living in the cellar of Roderick Burgess and his son. When he had the chance to escape, he has little power because his helm (helmet that looks like a black plague mask), his sand (black pouch full of sand that enables him to travel??), and his ruby (which makes dream come true) were taken away from him. He went off to look for it and when he did a new problem arose. A dream vortex is born. Dream cannot catch a break istg.

 I could list a lot of reasons why you should give The Sandman a chance but it all boils down to the fact that The Sandman is a wonderful piece of art that explores humanity, and every facet of it. It is about humanity at its core although the main character is an anthropomorphic personification of dreams. If you want to watch how powerful hope is, you should give The Sandman a try.

- Dream has the bone structure of Brendon Urie and the paleness of Gerard Way. In short, he looks like an emo kid.

- His spine can’t be that natural??? He looks like he has a spine of a bird.

Yugioh S5 Ep 20: Pharaoh’s Cool New Trick

Digging my way through quite a pile of commission work (funny how these things only come all at once or not at all), nearing the light at the end of the tunnel, was looking forward to some free time to catch up on my many little side projects when I was asked to take off for a weekend to do some cat-sitting to which I would NEVER say no to a cat, so like...Rip this blog I guess, we only update like once a week nowadays, but what do you do?

That’s right, play Puzzles and Dragons! The only phone game worth paying any attention to! Where they just released Pegasus on their Yugioh Collab and he looks pretty great!

So I’m just gonna take a second for some art appreciation, because the Puzzles and Dragons art team is just A++++ honestly, and yes, I did pull 13 times to get a Pegasus in my monster box, and yes, he is a completely insane team leader that is absolutely broken when paired with Yugi (the numbers are so satisfying) but...look at him. He looks so good!

(also I finally got Joey Wheeler, and so now my gatcha cravings are settled. And, don’t worry, I play this game so much that I was there during Christmas when they offered like a bajillion stones for free so I didn’t actually use real money on this.)

Now PAD also released a Weevil and Rex, and I don’t know why, and neither does the art team because they still look pretty good but in comparison to all the mains, they sure do looks like just some shorty guys in some casuals.

though I gotta admit, I want to learn how the hell this art team does swooshy effects, because man, that would make my art so much better to just have flames violently exploding out of all my art. Why am I not doing that more often? I have the technology.

anyway, I didn’t bother trying to pull them. Maybe I’ll accidentally pull them when they eventually release a Duke Devlin. (also, RIP to the fact that Roland will probably never be in Puzzles and Dragons but like...I can only send them so many polite letters covered in stickers pretending I’m some 10 year old child and writing in my broken Hiragana “Roland in PAD?”. Thems the breaks. (They also might not remember who Roland is.))

So because this is not actually a Puzzles and Dragons blog, and it’s been ten eons since I regularly updated so I could remember episode to episode...where the hell were we?

That’s right, we’re on an island now. This show’s wonderful obsession with evil islands (and spoiler, this is one of the few Yugioh Islands that doesn’t explode at the end. Mostly because Kaiba isn’t here to do it or this place would be cinder)

Anyway, after announcing “hey guys! Screw islands!” Yugi immediately collapses and without any warning.

Apparently the armor is a big ol parasite, which is something that Yugi is so used to at this point that he refuses to admit that this is a problem. Just normal Muto stuff, refusing to tell anyone that he has a serious illness going on underneath that giant mass of hair.

Sort of feels like a call back to S1 when Yugi was clearly possessed and everyone else was like “He acting weird to you?” except it’s S5 and everyone has learned to never trust Yugi when he says he’s fine and they are responding like he is about to die. Which is correct.

Outside of the cave falls this scroll that is...glowing, I guess. So they open it up and get a bunch of hieroglyphs that give them the “riddle of light” and like youknow...it’s riddle stuff.

They’re doing this riddle for “wings.” And it’s like...everyone’s monster here has a set of wings or an ability to fly. Every single monster except for I dunno, flaming swordsman? Hell, Yugi himself had two sets of wings when he fused with Dark Magician (which was weird, and I still don’t like to think about what technically was going on there.) But we have to go and get ourselves even more wings.

Weirdly, Joey turns to Tea and does something that in any other show would be completely normal. He was like “you want to stay here with Yugi, don’t you?” and it was the first time Joey has ever actually addressed the fact that Tea and Yugi are close. Uncharted territory. I was amazed at the amount of casual shipping that is happening here. It’s almost like a normal ass relationship.

So the boys decide to go off, and be boys and tackle this themselves. And they shouldn’t have, because Tea is smart for this group, and also has the only healing spell.

Like if you’re playing D+D you wouldn’t typically leave your only healer behind. Just saying.

Also like...Grandpa Muto went with them? I guess he’d have to since he’s the translator but also...kind of weird to leave your grandson dying in a cave, but maybe that’s just the Muto lifestyle.

Do not be fooled by my caps, no one has addressed the Bakura in the puzzle for 3 seasons. I’m starting to think this show will never address the Bakura in the puzzle. Which honestly, that would be hilarious if they made a big deal out of that plot point and then couldn’t use it in the end.

And speaking of plot points that kind of come out of nowhere and don’t make full sense with the continuity of the show--Joey has regressed back to the 4th grade.

Hey show? What?

So like if you love Joey, this is not the arc for you, because this arc he is reduced to a Himbo and nothing else. Straight up didn’t know what an echo is, but is very strong and pretty, I guess.

This inevitably happens with any TV show becuase different people make different parts, and I’ve brought up before that sometimes it feels like some teams only have loose post-it notes of what any character should be like at any given point (ESPECIALLY with Seto Kaiba’s timeline) but like...

...Personally I’m mot so fond of this interpretation of Joey, kind of ignores Joey’s best traits, and makes Tristan look way too smart in comparison (and like I always pinned Tristan to be the Himbo of the group, but maybe it’s because they give Tristan so little else to do?)

And like don’t get me wrong, Joey’s a dumbass a lot of the time and needs to get corrected by his pals...but...to the point he doesn’t know what an echo is? He’s a dumbass in a High School student sort of way, youknow?

Anyway, they get down to this big ravine, and they have to destroy this stone while the light passes over it. Kind of feels like a Breath of the Wild shrine quest, actually. In fact, I think Breath of the Wild recycled the shadow/sunlight pathing quest like 4 or 5 times. (I love Breath of the Wild to death but boy did they run out of ideas at the end there.)

They have to fight a glass monster and it’s kind of like...do you know the game Balls 3D? probably not, but it looked like a bunch of random shapes stuck together like a 90′s animation. They basically went to war with shapes.

Pure Himbo energy, has several pokemon, but punches for his pokemon instead of using them. A power move if I ever saw one.

Youknow that would make pokemon a lot more interesting if you could like throw out your pikachu, and then choose to just physically run up to your opponents Eevee and sock it in the jaw. Raise of hands--I know you all would love a version of pokemon like that. Let Ash Ketchum punch a Ratata.

Bro has informed me that Ash does do something like this in the anime. But I’m not talking about the anime, I’m talking about the video game. Give me the option to physically combat my rival. This is what I want, Pokemon.

They discover a way to break the monolith, and the show thinks we’re like actually 7 years old (because the show is Y7, although I forget because it deals with so many dark themes) so the show is going to hold on to this puzzle for a while...just to fill time. And it’s fine because we gotta switch over to Pharaoh anyway.

Yami has this dream again. He attempts to fuse with Dark magician to overcome the dream, but alas, he is still not strong enough.

Yugi wakes up in this murky cave while Tea is out washing out like...some rag? (he’s also still got a rag, so I guess multiple rags were required for how sweaty Yugi is.)

Yugi says “I feel like I’m a new man!” a lot in this episode, and every time he calls himself a man like he’s some sort of adult it’s very funny to me.

And then this plot lore dropped.

I mean I guess inevitably it had to happen...

But man, end of an era. It was freakin hilarious while it lasted: that Pharaoh refused to read ancient Egyptian because it’s like 2002 and he is a High Schooler living in Japan and he actually doesn’t WANT to resolve the mystery of the puzzle. Maybe the people who made this arc don’t know about how in S2 and S3, the fact Pharaoh couldn’t read Marik’s back tatt was like...a really big issue. He couldn’t read the God card, he couldn’t even read that massive tablet that read “HEY PHARAOH THIS IS LITERALLY YOU”. KAIBA had to tell him how to read the God card for him. Freakin Seto “Magic is a lie” Kaiba had to tell him how to use the God Card because Pharaoh couldn’t read it.

But like...Pharaoh finally gave in at some point after the world was devoured by the Leviathan, and before Kaiba finished building Kaibaland (which was already built in S1 but wtv)

The timelines on this show have always been a mishmash...but this one is just like...

...show are you trying to convince me that at any point in this show after season Zero, Pharaoh had any idea what he was doing? Did he sap that brain energy straight out of Joey Wheeler so he could do this?

Wow.

(secretly hoping he forgets how to read Egyptian after this arc is over and the show goes back to the other development team)

Pharaohs reasoning is that, if this is the riddle of the light.....

....then where is the riddle of darkness????????????

and when Tea was like “Pharaoh that is not even remotely logic. Omg it’s so bright outside, lets go back to gross cave.” and Pharaoh was like “Tea! You got it!” and she was like “What the hell are you talking about?”

Not gonna lie, I saw the Orichalcos green, and I got concerned.

Anyway, Yugi gets very frustrated and was like “ugh, lets go save em. They’re gonna die (again.)” and marches down there as if he didn’t pass out an hour ago.

And he fuses with Dark Magician again while everyone else (including his grandpa) was like “Yugi are you freakin kidding me? The suit freakin kills you omg! Tea you had one freakin job!”

And then we get the plot twist that...I mean it makes sense but it was choreographed in a confusing way.

And out of no where this guy shows up again:

So this mysterious man shows up and says “If you don’t succeed you have to live here forever” which...nice...that would probably save the world a lot of problems if Yami got locked away and took his OP puzzle with him. And then this man also says “if you do succeed you become VERY POWERFUL” and Yami was like. “...”

This whole episode had a theme to it, where Tristan and Joey were trying to prove that they could do things on their own and without Yugi’s help. And honestly...felt a little bit misplaced. Yami’s the same guy who murdered Yugi last season with the Orichalcos so like...

...I mean he is probably more reliable than Tristan who once died and turned into a robot monkey for 10ish episodes.

and then they flew into a glowing door.

Folks, this was wild to look at.

This is wild.

And at this point I closed Photoshop and thought I was done. But then I looked at my timeline on the video and was like...wait...there’s more?

and I’m really glad I kept watching because it went back to Alex, who...is apparently just still at those steps in this haunted ass Pyramid.

Now we’re watching Yugioh.

I forgot for a second when they turned Joey into a Himbo and made Pharaoh literate, but we’re back. I mean...

...look at the liner art on this adult man.

So...I posit the question...has Alex spent the last 2-3 episodes doing nothing but applying eyeliner to his face in the dark? Because he absolutely has. And honestly, the vibe of being in a spooky haunted pyramid with barely any light, just applying eyeliner down the edge of your face...that’s a Yugioh vibe, if I ever saw one.

This arc is wild. Anyway, next episode we do even more fetch quests and riddles? Just going to guess now that we probably will.

i have... been thinking about ygo dm (as if im not always thinking about Yugioh Duel Monsters The Show The Anime The Lifestyle hghdfgd) and for the sake of having it written down somewhere i wanted to ramble about my fav duel from each season...

I have. Many Thoughts (under the cut lol)

SEASON ONE: Mai vs. Yugi (Eps 29-30) ((really?!??! it’s that early in the series???? omg....))

I love so much of duelist kingdom, i’ve talked about this before...but there’s genuinelly something so engaging and downright thrilling about Mai and Yugi’s quarterfinal match that I keep coming back to it. You got Mai just Kicking Ass, yugi fresh off of his Oh God Did Kaiba Almost Die Because of Me trauma, the drama between them, yami yugi desperately being like DUDE LET ME HELP YOU. It’s so cool seeing Yugi dueling by himself!! And, kind of sucking at it!!! By the end it’s like the first time that yugi’s really like “ok, there’s another guy inside my brain, and we need to work together w need to be on the same page” and it’s just so great seeing him and yami compromise because then you get to see that bloom more and more into the Inseparable Friendship you have by later seasons.

Again, also, I love Mai. I love getting to see Harpie’s Pet Dragon for the first time. She cares so much about these kids. I love when hr and yami yugi do a thumbs up at each other ;__; this duel is GOOD

Runner Up Favorite Duel: again hard to pick cuz there’s so many duels im soft on, but Pegasus vs. Kaiba (26-27) is also an absolute banger. Blue Eyes Toon Dragon my beloved. also it’s fun watching kaiba get fuckin owned HDFGHDFH

SEASON TWO: Joey vs. Yugi but Joey is being Very Mind Controlled by Marik (Eps 75-75)

AGAIN THIS SEASON IS SO HARD TO PICK A FAV FROM THERE’S SO MANY GREATEST HITS IN BATTLE CITY but at the end of the day i GOTTA go with Friends Til the End.... I watched this duel as a child and it stayed buried in my brain until this year when I was wonderfully, blessedly reminded of it.  Everything about this duel is just, perfect. The setting, the STAKES!!! (THAT FUCKIN ANCHOR!!!!) Joey battling Marik’s mind control and it’s emo and awesome!! YUGI PUTTIN THE PUZZLE ON HIM!! Marik being pissed off and on a boat the whole time!! Red Eyes being beat to shit and laying by Yugi’s side like an old dog before we get that kickass conclusion with Joey begging the dragon to attack him!! Kaiba crashing a helicopter into a crane!! SERENITY TAKING HER BANDAGES OFF AND LEAPING INTO THE OCEAN TO SAVE HER BROTHER HAS LIVED RENT FREE IN MY BRAIN FOR ALMOST TWENTY YEARS!!!!!!

GOD. THIS DUEL IS SO GOOD. i think this and my S4 fav duel are tied for like...my fav duels of the entire series. This one’s special.

Runner Up Favorite Duel: AGAIN REAL HARD TO PICK JUST ONE SECOND PLACE WINNER but i think it’s gotta be yami bakura vs. yami yugi (82-84), also just a fantastic duel wrt to setting, vibes, stakes, EVERYTHING. Dark Sanctuary is such an Evocative Yugioh Setting for me, and SLIFER WRAPPING AROUND THAT BIGASS BLIMP is like.... top 10 duel monsters moments for me for sure. That did something to my child brain.

SEASON THREE: Yami Yugi vs. Yami Marik (138-142)

battle city finals really Some of the Best Yugioh’s Ever Been, imo...my top fav has gotta be the final big duel though, it’s just so fucking cool. Yami Marik is just a blast to watch in all his duels, he makes some of his best expressions in this one 100%, and seeing regular Marik Defeat His Own Darkness still hits different. And you got all the God Cards on display!!!! Fuck yes!!! Also the end when kaiba blows up the fucking trash island and rides away on his stupid dragon jet is just *chef’s kiss* Fantastic. 

really any time yami marik does that thing where he fuses into ra it’s just cool as shit. i didnt appreciate this wacko enough as a kid, he’s great.

Runner Up Favorite Duel: All of the Big 5 Duels I’m Not Kidding. I WILL go to bat for the Virtual World arc ANY day. SPECIAL shoutout to Johnson vs. Joey (104-105) though; that one is ESPECIALLY a blast. It’s in a stupid courtroom!! Flame Swordsman is there, and he talks!! BAD LAWYER PUNS!!!!!! Simply delightful, I think they should have put even more fucked up businessmen in yugioh.

SEASON FOUR: Oricalchos!Rex and Weevil vs. Joey and Yami Yugi (ep 160-162)

Yeah this is the duel(s) that makes me go cuckoo bananas <3 This duel was so just...stand out impactful to me as a child it’s what led me to fall in love with Rex as a character and (through an elaborate domino effect series of events) put me on the path of the creative endeavors I work on today. These duels just make a switch in my brain go off .The crazy train framing, the Funny Comic Relief Guys suddenly being (at last for a moment) a legitimate, fucked up threat, The Trading Card That Makes You Evil on full display (cosigned by me, #1 Seal of Orichalcos lover), RED EYES BLACK DRAGON SWORD, THE ANIMATION KICKING SO MUCH ASS AT A FEW POINTS...god. I love it so much. Me watching rex raptor beg for his life while losing his soul in a card game: Oh This Will Stick With Me For Life

and, again, Weevil dueling on top of a moving train is just cool as shit. He’s so fucked up in that duel. Love that little bastard. You deserved to get pummeled tho

Runner Up Favorite Duel: Rafael vs. Yami Yugi (The First One) (eps.156-158).... I just love Rafael I think he’s fun lol. Also the pharaoh succumbing to The Seal still hits like a truck, it’s always So Much watching the protagonist lose and GOD he loses SO BIGLY with this one. I love evil!kuribabylon. I love that this duel canonly takes place in death valley, california. Season 4 my beloved idc what anyone says.

SEASON FIVE: Yugi vs. Yami Bakura (215-218)

yeah ok there’s really not that many duels in s5 huh (kc grand prix do not interact) and YES i do like the ceremonial duel a lot, but THIS DUEL IS MY S5 I THINK!!! i just really like seeing Yugi himself duel I think.... the stunts he pulls in this duel are fucking wild, Silent Swordsman is COOL, and also this is the duel where Yam Bakura gets attacked by Marshmallon so, like, that’s already top content.

GOD the animation is rough though........every night in my dreams i see you, baby (a remade season 5 of duel monsters with better animation)

Runner Up Favorite Duel: yeah, ok, gotta be the Ceremonial Duel (221-224). This duel makes me fuckin cry. Seeing Summoned Skull and Chimera the King of Mythical Beasts and all the old school s1 yugi deck guys again just makes me wail and sob. it’s good

So, this is a bit of a spoiler for my current "What the Cameras didn't see" series. It's a story I intended to write in sequence, however it fitted this bill and I've really wanted to write it. Once I've caught up to it I'll pop it in as a link or a note--- but it's the story of "line in the sand" Season 10 ep 12, with their baby in it who is almost 2 by now.

From his position in the control room, Hank watched Jack in the gate room as he aimlessly paced the floor at the foot of the ramp.

Jack had just returned from Atlantis after the Pegasus replicators attempted take-over and the renegade Atlantis command team saving Jack and Woolsey against orders. He had only returned home to this mess just hours ago.

The events leading up this moment had been a series of revelations to Landry, in more ways than one.

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN THEY'RE MIA?" Jack demanded, slamming the report in front of him, as they stood in Hank’s office.

"With the success of the test conducted by Colonel Carter, the IOA wanted a bigger field test for Merlin’s device. Colonel Carter did seem to have some reservations over whether it could be done over a bigger area."

Jack looked at Landry sharply, slamming his fist in anger onto Hank’s desk. It was rare for Jack to lose his temper and Landry didn’t know how to react. "In her report, she explicitly said she needed to test it more." He stated, knowing Sam well enough to trust her instincts, then with realisation and a look that would kill most men. "You sent them anyway?" Jack asked quietly, in a tone that many would fear.

"The IOA recommended--" Hank started to explain his actions.

"You took the IOA's recommendation over CARTER’S?" Jack said, his hand slamming on the desk again as he stood taller, towering over his good ‘friend’. "She's your best and most experienced officer! And you took the IOA's recommendation over hers?"

"They thought--" Hank began again.

"The IOA are a bunch of bureaucrats and do not stand in for my authority in this matter." Jack interrupted, his words sharp and succinct. “And since when does the IOA have authority over Stargate Command – which I believe is under my purview.”

"If you were here--"

"I would have listened to Carter!" He exclaimed in anger. "She's right. She's always right!" Jack speared Landry with a look that if he weren’t of equal position, he would have quaked in his boots. "If anything – anything -- happens to her, I swear heads will roll!" He growled, stalking out of Hank’s office.

That was five hours ago.

In the meantime, Jack had ordered Sam's daughter to be brought to the base. To Hank’s surprise, the little girl was currently being held comfortably in Jack’s arms, who she had turned to when the inconsolable child arrived. When asked if it was wise to have a two-year old in a top-secret facility, Jack growled and gave them a look that more or less ‘don’t push me’ and told everyone it was his decision not theirs, and then threatened to dismiss the next person to ask.

Then one hour ago, the Stargate came to life and several members of SG1 came stumbling through the pool. Teal’c stood at the top of the ramp, and in his eyes were an apology and Jack’s heart dropped as they urgently called for a medic.

For her.

Jack hadn't stopped pacing since the medics went back through the gate, only Doctor Lam herself had convinced him he wouldn't be any help out there and she'd bring Sam back alive.

Somehow, Grace knew something was not right, and cuddled into her father’s embrace. All they could do was wait.

God, he hated waiting.

The gate again sprung to life once more and Jack perked, waiting impatiently for the first people to come through. Landry entered the gate room, it was his team after all.

Seconds later, the first group of people came hurdling through the gate. Two corpsmen were carting the stretcher between them, Teal’c escorted Doctor Lam back.

Jack went to the stretcher, their daughter in hand.

"Carter?" He asked, fear caught in his throat, upon seeing her on the stretcher as they laid her on the ramp and Carolyn tried to administer care. The first thing he noticed was just how pale she looked, the second were the large blast wounds in her side. "Carter!" He exclaimed, alarmed.

"Mamma!" The little girl exclaimed, trying to escape from her father’s arms to lie down with her mother.

Sam stirred at the sound of her daughter’s voice as she struggled to open her eyes to see them – the two dearest people to her heart – lean closer to her. No one noticed Cam and Vala come through next.

"Jack." She said weakly. "Grace." She said, with a smile to her.

"S-stay, stay with me Carter." He said, one hand stroking into her hair while the other cuddled their daughter against his chest as Grace rested partially on Jack’s lap.

"Don't blame them," she croaked, struggling to get the words out. "Cam kept me safe."

Jack rolled his eyes, typical Sam, still thinking of the others before her own injury.

"Let's get her on that gurney!" On the side of the stretcher, Doctor Lam continued to give her orders as one came through the blast doors.

"I'm sorry, Jack." She said weakly. "Me getting a blast to the gut, That was not part of the plan."

Jack struggled to stand up, still holding his daughter, trying to control the itch to hold his wife. The medical staff tried to push Jack out of the way as they lifted her from the stretcher to the gurney.

"One two three lift!" Was yelled around them but by whom Jack couldn’t say.

"Hey, don't worry about the plan." He told her softly as she finally was placed on the gurney.

"I want mamma, I want mamma!" Grace was desperately trying to extricate herself from Jack’s arms.

"Jack--" she said softly, drifting off. Jack could barely her voice over the calamity that surrounded her.

"Colonel, no! Stay with us!" Lam said sharply.

"Sam, don't leave me!" Jack ordered her in a voice that brook no refusal.

Sam's eyes snapped open, and she focused solely on him. "Yes, sir." She nodded, then added quietly. "I love you, Jack."

Jack only had eyes for his wife, and uncaring of the surprised looks from most of the people in the gate room, he went to Sam’s side, pushing everyone aide and placing a hand by her wounds.

"Love you too." He said, kissing her forehead. With the closeness to Sam, Grace placed her hands on her mother, next to her father’s. Shocked by what they were seeing, no one seemed to be moving. No one was sure it was because the physical expressions of affection or by Jack’s and Grace’s actions. As soon as their hands touched Sam, a soft light came from both Grace's and Jack's hands. Looking down at his daughter, Jack looked equally as astonished (as everyone else) for a split second, before he made a conscious decision and lay his hands over Grace’s who had moved hers over the worst of her mother’s wounds. As for Grace, she just snuggled closer against her father’s chest.

"What's happening?" Vala asked, confusion in her voice.

"It is an Ancient power,” Teal’c informed her. “An ability to heal." Teal’c turned back to watch with everyone else. "I saw O'Neill use it once before -- to heal Master Bra'tac many years ago when he temporarily had the ability to control his Ancient genes. He claimed not to be able to use them since."

"You think he was lying?" Vala asked, then looked again. "No,” she decided. “Gracie -- the baby can control her Ancient abilities!" To which Teal’c agreed, nodding his head. "Then perhaps her ability gave focus to General Under--ermm O'Neill -- O'Neill's abilities to return. Some sort of genetic recognition."

No one in the Gate room paid attention to them. Nor could anyone say how long it took because all they knew was that it was happening.

Within moments, Sam woke with a huge gasp of air, sitting up slightly. As she caught her breath, she saw the tail end of the light from the hands of her husband and child.

"Grace?" She asked, astonished, Jack nodded while the tot squirmed out of Jack's arms into her mother’s.

"All better now, Mommy."

Sam smiled at Jack and then at Grace, planting a kiss in her daughter’s hair. "Thank you." She whispered to her then as Jack leaned over, she wrapped one arm around him as she thanked him with a gentle kiss too.

"I'd still like to check you out, Colonel Carter." Doctor Lam stepped up to the gurney. She smiled at the child and said, "Make sure nothing was missed." She said, her mind reviewing any vague recollection of the reports around Ancient healing abilities.

Sam nodded. "Gracie, you stay with Daddy, okay?" She told her daughter.

"Okay." She complied, turning once again to cuddle against her father, her blue eyes slightly drowsy.

"It's okay, Gracie, we'll just follow mommy and the doctor to infirmary, but we’ll be just outside the door, okay?" He told his wife.

"Okay." Sam nodded, sleepily as they rolled her away.

As soon as the gurney exited the gate room, commotion over finally erupted at the sight they all just witnessed. Ignoring everyone but his daughter, Jack finally looked up and saw Landry’s facial expressions as the spectators tried to understand what they just saw. They stood silently for few moments while Landry put the pieces together. The rest of SG-1 remained and other members of the greeting party having not been dismissed by anyone. Nodding curtly, he dismissed everyone until it was only the three of them in the gate room. Without a word, Walter closed the control room window protection, giving the two Generals privacy.

"This is your daddy?" Landry asked Grace gently.

"Huh-uh." Grace nodded sleepily.

"Carter had the keys to your cabin because--"

"It's her cabin too, yeah." Jack nodded.

"You're married."

"Yup."

"To each other. And have a kid, together?"

"Yup."

"You never mentioned any of this."

"You never asked."

"Jack." He said, rolling his eyes. "Does DC know?"

"Yup, presidential exception.” He told him. “She's not in my direct chain of command."

"That’s a technicality and you know it!" He exclaimed. "I needed to know." There was a silence for a moment before Landry shook his head and chuckled to himself. "This explains so much." He said, shaking his head again.

"We don't have to tell people; we choose not to."

"I needed to know especially when I'm sending my boss' wife through that gate."

"Unfair bias. Carter didn't want it. It's why she's still a 'Carter' at work."

"And why not demand we wait for you?" Landry asked “She knew you’d agree with her.”

"We far from agree in every aspect of our work, we can be very different people in our approach and even when we do agree-- That’s not Carter’s style, she wants you to listen to her because she’s her, not because she’s my wife.You're her Commanding officer. She follows your orders."

"But you’s protect your wife first--"

"No, Colonel Carter is one of your best and most experienced officers, period. She’s also the smartest of them all. A national treasure. You should have listened because of that. Not because she’s my wife. None of this would have happened if you just listened." Jack took two steps forward but stopped. "Just be glad Cameron took loving care of her, General." Jack told him. The two men regarded each other silently. Abruptly, Jack turned away and whispered to his daughter who appeared to be studying the Stargate intently. "Come on, let's go see Mommy."

Igawa: Yes. This aerial garden surrounded by buildings in the heart of Tokyo… is a popular location that’s been trending these days.

Tenma: I mean, it does have a nice view…

Igawa: It’s beautiful and well maintained, isn’t it?

Staff: Good morning!

Tenma: Good morning.

Photoshoot director: Morning, Sumeragi-kun. We’ll be counting on you today.

Tenma: Same here, I’ll be in your care.

Photoshoot director: Your role is a young man who works in a bonsai garden this time. And you’ll encounter the heroine in a small sales space in a corner of this aerial garden… It’s a really great help that you took this specialized role of a bonsai artist.

Tenma: Well, bonsai is my hobby so I was really happy I could land this role.

Photoshoot director: Is that so! Then I hope this opportunity will lead to more bonsai-related work.

Tenma: Yes, that’s the goal.

Photoshoot director: Ahaha, I see. Now then, jumping straight to business, allow me to explain the scene of the shoot today.

Tenma: Right, please do.

Photoshoot director: In the first scene, you start a conversation with the heroine who’s looking at the sales corner…

Igawa: ? Did something catch your eye… Ah, that terrarium, right? Come to think of it, you had the same thing in the past, didn’t you?

Tenma: Yeah…

Staff A: We’re finished with all the scenes with Tenma-kun now. Good work, everyone!

Staff B: Your acting was really great, Tenma-kun!

Staff C: That’s Tenma-kun for you! He even puts adults to shame.

Staff D: Yeah, he’s a genius after all. That was honestly amazing.

Tenma: Thank you very much.

Staff A: Alright then, Tenma-kun, can you wait here for now? You can have snacks, juice or whatever you like.

Staff B: There’s cake and pudding too.

Staff C: If there’s anything you want, then let a staff nearby know, alright?

Tenma: Ok. (…They’re really fussing over me, huh?) (This and that—everything’s just because of mom and dad. I bet they think I’m a kid who’s riding the coattails of my parents.) Hmph.

Tenma: Dad…

Tenma’s dad: You sure were fascinated by it, huh? You've been doing a great job at work lately, so if you like it, I'll ask them to let me buy it.

Tenma: Really!?

Tenma’s dad: Yes.

Tenma: Yay! Thanks, dad! A terrarium, huh…

Tenma’s dad: … Tenma, right now, you’re the same as the tree in this terrarium—an actor who can only fit inside a small jar.

Tenma: Ehh?

Tenma’s dad: Become an actor who can’t be contained in such a small container, but who dashes up towards the heavens, no matter what comes your way.*

Igawa: Something like that happened…

Tenma: I couldn’t fully appreciate the meaning of those words back then. But I recalled them every time I looked at that terrarium. And when it withered away, I felt like crying. Well, it was too long ago so I can’t remember that well though.

Igawa: I see.

Tenma: It’s a memory I’d forgotten until now… but it may have definitely taken root inside of me without me even knowing it. … Um, excuse me.

Staff: Yes?

Tenma: Could I buy this terrarium?

*So I’m crying I believe this beautiful phrase Tenma's dad uses: "天に向かって駆け昇る" (~dashing up towards the heavens) is a nod to Tenma's name. The first character in Tenma's name, "天", means “the sky/heavens”. The second character, "馬", means "horse", which can be connected to "駆ける" (kakeru) which can mean "to run", but also "gallop [on horseback]". Tenma itself can also mean "pegasus", aka a horse that flies through the sky. --> that + Tenma's motif being sunflowers that always turn towards the sun.... guys I can't do this, I'm not strong enough... there are too many layers to unpack here.... I was in shambles over this all night

Once again Mr. Sam Fox (or Synchro Fox) brings us another mystery, the same label that brought you “Stars and Teardrops” aka “Joe Cool”.

Also as a side note though “Cafard” literally translates to “cockroach”, it’s likely that the title is referring to the French idiomatic expression “avoir le cafard” or “to have the blues” which dovetails neatly into the alternate title, “Blues for You”. 

Although this instrumental is not broadcast on the main three radio stations in New Vegas, it is heard in the Gomorrah casino as the lobby music. Later, it can be heard on the Mysterious Broadcast inviting you to the Big MT.

Unfortunately, unlike Fallout 3′s end credits, Fallout: New Vegas’ end credits feature the licensed music from the standard record labels, but omits all of the radio tunes from APM including the instrumentals save for a brief mention of  “Additional Music Courtesy of APM Music”.

As is the case with library music, finding artist and recording information is extremely difficult as these songs were never meant to be sold to the public, instead being exclusively used for the film and TV industry. What follows is an attempt to extricate this information.

Note: Library music is typically identified by composer or emotion. Very little can be confirmed about the musicians who performed on the recording.

So let us focus on what is known, starting with the full track list:

About the composer

As expected with library music, this track has been miscredited. The CD reissue lists the composer as Gabriel Parès while the record credits Philippe Parès. To confuse the issue further, they are father and son. 

Gabriel Parès lived from 1860-1934, slightly before when this track was pressed in 1966. Gabriel was primarily known for his marching band music as captain of the Garde Républicaine. His son, Philippe Parès was known for his work with collaborator George Van Parys in musical theater and jazz which better aligns with the 1966 date of this track. 

Both father and son were dedicated to music theory ranging from the Parès scales to the books Qui est l'auteur de la Marseillaise? and Histoire du droit de reproduction mécanique.

The 1978 book 33 tours en arrière et notes en vrac (Before 33 RPM and Loose Notes), serves as Philippe’s memoir regarding the music of his father, pre-war,  Occupation, and post-war music from 1923-1962. Philippe would also pass the following year in 1979.

About the recording

As noted above, the original title “Cafard” is likely linked to the French idiom “avoir le cafard” which ties into the CD reissue’s title of “Blues for You”. 

As for the miscredited composer, aside from the father/son confusion, Philippe’s full name is “Philippe Gabriel Hippolyte Emmanuel Parès”. The middle name of “Gabriel” probably didn’t help identification matters much. 

Similar to Stars and Teardrops/Joe Cool, “Cafard” aka “Blues for You” was reissued on the same Carlin Archives CD Jazzy Vibes, CAS 019, previously under APM, now under Warner/Chappell.

Along with the miscrediting of Philippe Parès as Gabriel Parès, track number 20 picked up the two similar descriptions between the Carlin Archives Series and the CPM issues.

“Slow relaxed blues features electric guitar vibes saxophone trumpet”

There aren’t any entries in BMI, but ASCAP has the song registered under “Cafard” composed by Philippe Parès, not under “Blues for You”. 

As for dating the track, again the process is similar to “Stars and Teardrops”. 

The small R in the dead wax stands for the RCA Pressing plant in Rockaway, New Jersey which ceased operations in 1973.

The etched matrix number is TR4M. However, RCA adopted a custom of switching the 2nd and 3rd characters of the matrix numbers every 10,000 numbers every year. So the matrix number should actually read “T4RM”.

In short the matrix numbers stand for:

T = 1966

4 = Re-recorded from client’s furnished tapes

R = 12" - 33⅓ RPM

M = Mono (Fine)

Alas, the record label still provides no clues for the performers on the tracks. What remains are the composers’ credits.

Well, i accidentally deleted the original graduation character list post, so here i am making another one. Oops. And as always, if anyone has important details i should add then feel free to suggest them!

Here are all the characters introduced in episodes 1-25. Named characters only!

Hieronymous Wiggenstaff (he/him): Head of the Hero/Villain school. at least 400 years old. wears shining blue armor with gold accents. also an elf. according to Tomas, he led the charge at the "battle of blood valley", brought the Kingdoms of Rickart and Dawnbreak to a peace treaty, and founded the school. a little boastful, a little prideful, [SPOILERS OMITTED], and overall a pretty good dude.

Higglemas Wiggenstaff (he/him): Head of the Sidekick/Henchperson annex, cranky old elf. has a dog named hero who shows no signs of anything strange at all, ever. 

Gary (he/him): friendly room gargoyle. pseudo-hivemind.

Groundsy (he/him): the groundskeeper. a pretty nice fellow. don't go in his shed.

Hernandez (he/him): beautiful centaur professor of animal handling.

Jimson (he/him): human battlegrounds trainer for sidekicks/henchpeople, world famous featherweight champion, wields a staff. married to crushman.

Leon (he/him): softspoken buff, bald "fighter" (although i dont remember any clarification on how exactly he fights), sidekick of buckminster, around 28. anyone else keep forgetting he's bald? i keep forgetting it. >!gets sorta-drafted into becoming a falcon for higglemas and so far hasn't done much else.!<

Rainer Michelle (she/her): cheerful villainous necromancer with a floating chair. also, her name is pronounced "rainier" despite not being confirmed as such? travis ships her with fitzroy.

Tomas (he/him): human man with "kind eyes" and a good (psychic???) memory. guidance counselor.

Stewart LeBoeuf (he/him): brawny human man. serves food. there is no joke here, i promise

Mulligan (he/him): teaches potions. mentioned but doesn't appear yet. and we're like 25 episodes in. maybe we'll see him someday

Germaine, Victoria, Rattles (he/him,she/her,???/???): Skeleton crew. They live in the training room i guess, and as a result can never die, because "no one dies in the training room!" (note: someone now HAS to die in the training room). also their races are never explicitly stated but i guess they're probably human? in episode 3 travis brings up something about how many bones are in "the human body" and at this point i think i'm looking too deep into this so i'll just forget about it and you probably should too.

Snippers (he/him?): Let me tell you my story about Snippers the magic crab. When Travis gave the list of animals that Griffin could choose as Fitzroy's familiar's current form, he listed crab near the start, and this gave me excitement. Now i knew that crab was pretty unlikely but god i hoped that he would choose it. When the list went on- Bat, Cat, Crab, Frog, Hawk, Lizard, Owl, Poisonous Snake, Fish, Rat, Raven, Seahorse, Spider or Weasel- I nearly lost hope. I was hoping so hard that Griffin would choose the crab, but i was ready to accept a non-crab familiar. It was just buried in that list. It wasn't the most useful animal and it was an obscure pick. And as Travis informed him that it didn't have to keep the form for the whole campaign, Griffin said those five words i wanted to hear so, so badly. "Well then it's a crab." Folks, I do not often react physically when something happens in media. But in that moment, i remember very clearly, i fist-pumped and yelled, "YES!!!!!!"

so anyway, Fitzroy has a crab.

Jackle (he/him): kenku teacher of sneakery. creepy dude. apparently knows something about argo? also his name is not spelled "jackal" for some reason. Also in later episodes theyve started calling him "The Jackle" for some reason??? *

Dakota (they/them): tavern instructor, clad in black/red leather. no race stated? probably human. *

Barb (she/her): the bartender. runs Springs Eternal in Last Hope. has a sweet seeing-eye hawk familiar. 

Jaryd Reginald (he/him): owner of Reginald Ore. Wants the workers to be held responsible for the damage caused by the xorn. (fun fact: originally i wrote down "Jerrod" because i wanted it to sound like a fantasy name, then realized it was probably "Jared" because theyre named after listeners, but i was pleased to find it confirmed that it's actually "Jaryd")

Candice (she/her): A Miner. thought those werent allowed in bars but, i guess not. Wants the mine owner to be held responsible for the xorn's damage.

Jade Johnson Esq. (she/her): lawyer.

Ogre (he/him): teamed up with the satyr. his name is ogre.

Moon (he/him): A Sidekick. small pale sullen guy. no mentioned race. Why is there another FUCKING sidekick WE HAD ENOUGH hhhyuuuuuu

Deanna (she/her): A bigoted centaur with an obnoxious voice. Malwin the Strong's second in command.

Malwin the Strong (she/her): Leader of the centaurs of the scarlet woods. Wants to appease the spirit of the scarlet woods so that thecentaurs of the scarlet woods will be protected in the scarlet woods. Had a relationship with Arturas in the past but their clashes are currently known to get pretty heated.

Arturas (he/him): Leader of the Centaurs of the Valley, i guess. Had a relationship with Malwin. Centaur. Did i mention centaur? i cant think of anything else about this character

Calhain (he/him): Human wizard, Malwin's magical advisor. Kind of an amateur wizard in a job high above his skill level. Graduated Wigginstaff's as a hero.

Spirit of the Scarlet Woods: A spirit who requires sacrifice in order to keep Malwin's herd safe and prosperous. Not keen on dubiously canonical combos, i guess. i wouldnt be either. also apparently the sacrifice depends on personal value, not how much value it has to the spirit.

Sylvia Nite (she/her): Fitzroy's magic theory teacher at knight night school, who he turned into a catfish by accident. oops!

Chaos (they/them, maybe more): Presumably a deity, gave Fitz his powers and wants him to give in to his chaotic desires. (physical desc: 9 foot tall, iridescent 'mother of pearl' skin, pure white eyes, fine burgundy cloak with gold/onyx lining. their physical form beyond that seems to change every time they show up.)

As "Fauxronimous", he has skin the *color and pattern of* (but not necessarily made of) slate splashed with liquid, pointed ears, sharp teeth, shining eyes, horns of unspecified shape. 12 fucking feet tall. wonder if the slate-looking skin is related to garys. plot twist detected? Also i recently looked at the episode descriptions and found out his name is spelled "Gray", but really does it truly matter?

Seriously, they never mention this guy's race. The only thing described about him is how he's dressed and his evil smile. Does that mean he's human? Elf? Dwarf??? Who knows! maybe it just doesnt matter.

Gherkin (he/him): Tall lankier skeleton, has a scimitar and a merkin, which is a pubic wig... and he wears a jerkin? which i guess is a kind of coat? also i think hes mute 

Tibia (she/her?) : Shorter skeleton with gold teeth, and long canines. i think both of the skeletons are mute actually.

The Lich King aka Gordy (he/him): Rainer's dad. Commands armies of the undead. lives in The Crypt. described as a hooded, skull-faced man with intricate black lines on his face, but changes to a shaved-head man with dark skin and vetiligo. Abandoned as a babby, raised by traveling parents, had necromancy powers, took Rainier in. Not actually very scary at all i don't know why he did the creepy laugh. Kind of a warm fatherly figure actually. hm. also people are speculating Gordy might be short for Gordita and his parents are maybe supposed to be lup and barry but THAT S JUST A THEORY.

our firbolg's father (he/him): A firbolg who lived by the code and was there when our firbolg was banished. Came to respect our firbolg's interest in a new way of life, in his final moments.

TOTAL: 72 NPCS! (well, including 2 extra PCs, i guess.)

Average: 2.88 NPCs per episode.

i was gonna not include the bone-PCs and have it be 69 but our firbolg's dad was just too important to not respect with a spot on the list.

OP Review #7: Heaven’s Design Team

Hiiii, Friday here. 😏 Friday, yeppp. Heaven’s Design Team time ! 😀 A Winter 2021 seasonal, OP “Give It Up ?” by 96neko, Heaven’s Design Team was a cute, partially educational, and fun facts-y show about the animals God commissioned, after being too lazy to complete them themself. 😳

Category 1, Artstyle/Animation: Average/nice. Accurately reflects the level of art in the rest of the show. Lots of animals in the OP, they seem well-drawn enough. Though, there’s an ELEPHANT at the end of the OP that? Might be drawn a little short?? I am not really sure... Just, elephants are pretty tall lol. 1/2 for averageness. 

Category 2, Song: Cute, simple, LOUD. Like, whenever I hear it, I always think, “This is louder than everything else I’ve just been hearing” ??? Yeah ??? I like the little parts with the English, or where they go “yes !”, or the underwater part where it’s softer... ? But I don’t really actively think about the song, or have it stuck in my head 🤔 10/10, get it when it comes up, but hasn’t really, recently (AMQ). 1/2.

Category 3, Relevancy: Animals they design in the show pop up all over the place ! In the books (with who designed them), in the sky, underwater (also with who designed them), near the end, and the veryy end, with Shimoda (angel boy) under the tree. The pegasus also appears throughout the OP, like the old guy worker wants to make, and otherwise the backgrounds are primarily their office(?) location. For being the show it is, it’s pretty relevant. 1.5/2.

Category 4, Originality: If it’s a pretty relevant OP, it’s not really an original one, lolol ! But the animals are nice... Okay ! In terms of tropey things, I guess they spin around and write in the air, but like it’s their magic animal markers !!! Possibly :?? They also have the “everyone shows up and put their arms around each others’ shoulders because group” shot. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Why do they always do that. xd .5/2, idk, not that deep (the rating).

Category 5, Bias: I don’t really feel any special way about this OP, besides that I liked it enough to watch it every ep, weekly or so, 12 times. 🤔 Also, it’s usually a song I get, that others don’t, on looting AMQ n stuff, so thanks ? .5/2

Ok, silly story time of my habit of messing around the wikia, aka Seiyapedia. Last night I was reading Shion’s article, and there was one piece of trivia that cracked me up.

Specifically, this piece of trivia:  “In the first anime episode, the Pope who gives the Pegasus Cloth is Shion, but there is a lot of confusion about all this because the voice actor of the Pope in that episode was the narrator, who also played Aiolia later”

Confusion about all this because the voice actor played more than one character? Dude, come to the Italian dub, we have at least 10 or more different voice actors for Aiolia, and you’re lucky if you can find secondary characters that don’t change voice from one episode to the other!

I love the Italian dub, I absolutely adore the way they handled the script (all the dialogues are somewhat formal, sometimes they threw Italian literature in it, the characters rarely talk in a “normal” informal way), but my goodness you have no idea about what’s like to be really confused by the voice actors. 

Want an example just to have a good laugh? Here you go! These are Aries Mu’s voice actors:

But in the end, every character has an official voice as of now, thanks to both Hades and Legend of Sanctuary, so I really don’t need to complain.  At this point is kind of a joke the fact that a single character has so many voice actors due to past circumstances. 

But you can understand why, upon reading that particular wikia trivia, I started cracking up.
