So, the tiefling barbarian I played in BG3 the first time around did experience some of The Racism, but it wasn't super constant or anything. People were mostly chill with the big buff tief, aside from some Assholes. (Admittedly, I barely made it out of act 1, so like. It could have gotten worse later.)

I'm playing as a drow monk now because drow are cool, and HOLY SHIT THE FUCKING RACISM. WHY IS EVERYONE SO FUCKING RACIST ABOUT DROW. WHAT THE FUCKING FUCK.

I'm planning to restart BG3 tonight, and I'm thinking of trying monk instead of barbarian now that I've got the hang of things. This poll is non-binding and may or may not influence my decision, BUT:

I've been holding out on getting an Xbox Series X until Dragon Age Dreadwolf has a release date because that's basically all I'd use it for.

Except, Baldur's Gate 3 is over 100GB, would take up almost all of my computer's remaining memory, and would take approximately one thousand years to download.

So, to all of y'all who are so obsessed with BG3 that it's all over my dash: Would it be worth getting an entirely new console just so I can play it?

Turns out I fucked up Act 2 as well - missed every possible opportunity to save Thaniel. Oops. More to refine for next time.

I'm not one of those people who gets super into video game mechanics. I'm here for the story, and I'll play the character class that lets me think the least about the mechanics. This works for games like Dragon Age, where characters other than the one I made to start the game with think for themselves and I only have to directly control them if my character goes down or I want to get really granular with the combat.

Baldur's Gate 3 forces me to directly control every character in my party. I have to engage with every mechanic the game offers in every combat. It forces me to think more about party composition and which characters I'm taking with me, because I want access to the mechanics they offer. And, on the flip side, if I want to have certain characters as my default party and not others, I have to think about which mechanics I'm losing out on.

For example, I love Astarion, I really do, but he disapproves of every. single. choice. I. make. I want him to like me, not just tolerate me, but he's the only rogue, so if I want access to good lockpicking and trap disarming with a million bonuses, I need to take him everywhere. As a result, I'm planning to play as a rogue on my next playthrough so I can leave him in camp and actually get him to like me while still being able to know for a fact I'll be able to pick locks and such.

In BG3 news, not only did I deal with the bullshit that is reuniting Oliver and Thaniel, I also rescued all the tieflings and gnomes in Moonrise AND stopped Rolan from getting his dumb ass killed! Yay!

One thing that gets me about video games is how easy it is to get characters to go against their morals/convictions just by picking the correct dialogue tree.

Many things to refine for my next BG3 playthrough. There's the established failure to romance Karlach, and now, failure to prevent Isobel's kidnapping. That felt Bad, especially because it resulted in me having to kill beloved boy Dammon. At least I got Karlach fixed first...

I need something extremely romantic to happen to me within the next two hours or I'll die. Even if I could manage to get my shit together and tell my crush how I feel and they felt the same and were willing to come here immediately and kiss me so stupid my brain falls out, they live around seven hours away from me, and therefore would not make it in time. However, I have managed to get my brain to let me play BG3 again, and I could feasibly get Karlach's second upgrade from Dammon within that timespan, so that will have to fucking do.

KARLACH ROMANCE IS A GO!!!!! Last playthrough, everyone but Karlach and Astarion wanted to jump my bones at the party. This time, everyone everyone wanted to jump my bones. Success!

I wanted to restart BG3 tonight since I fucked up...so much stuff my first try, but my TV won't turn on and I can't find any AAA batteries to see if it's just the remote or the TV itself. The power strip is fine, everything is plugged in...I just need to change the batteries in the remote.

Finished BG3 for the first time! The final fight against the Netherbrain is the most annoying bullshit I've ever seen! I had given up and was just trying to let them kill me so I could either start the fight over or look up the ending and go from there when an idea occurred to me and I tried it and managed it! And I thought I'd lost Shadowheart completely before I even opened the portal to kill the brain because I couldn't find her body anywhere but she just got flung off a ledge for! Some reason! And was face down just underneath the ledge! But I did it and got to the credits and why did nobody tell me JK Simmons and Jason Isaacs voiced Ketheric and Gortash respectively!

I want to play BG3, but also I spent two hours fruitlessly trying to scrape ice off of the sidewalk, and exhaustion does not pair well with Puzzle Torture, so like. I guess no BG3 for me tonight.

Also I have gone so long in BG3 without taking a long rest, I've got, like, 7 long rest events built up and I just hope they don't all explode at once lol
