Sometimes I think about Zuko being the Firelord and I just giggle like yeah it is an angsty situation, yes it’s got great fanfic material but guys your just going to give a 17 year old a whole country. Like not even a normal trained from birth Prince you’ve got a guy that was officially the Crown Prince for like 3 years and then he was out at sea causing problems. Since there is a bit of discourse going around, I feel the need to say that I really don't hate Crystal Palace. I think she's an amazing character, she is everything, she is interesting, powerful, has emotional moments and a good development, she is the force that drives the story into motion. But I have been through this dynamic soooo many times already, with the two best friends who are so devoted to one another that they risk their entire existence multiple times for each other, with the actors and writers winking at us, making us have hope and follow every interview, create content for the characters etc. Just for the pretty girl to arrive and be the endgame.

I can't speak for others in the fandom, but at least imho, it's not hate against her in particular, it's trauma response and the bitterness that comes with resignation.
