Meet my neighbor, Fiona. And also, go watch my the video I made! "Highlighting Hospitality in Uganda: Ama Wuro Tualu!" captures the heart of Uganda through the words of my friend, Inizu, sharing about hospitality here. Especially now, his words about Uganda can be taken as a message for our world. -- We are all One. "It doesn't matter if you're rich and I'm poor. It doesn't matter if you're white and I'm black. It doesn't matter if you're Christian and I'm a Muslim." It's better to build a sense of community and compassion instead of large fences and walls. We are all together. Ama wuro tualu. -- [This video was submitted for consideration in the 2017 Peace Corps Week Video Contest, 'Highlighting Hospitality'.] 🌻✌🏽🌍 LINK: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_qhyzjLfzTQ #peacecorps #pcthirdgoal #howiseepc #blogithome #vscocam #hospitality #uganda #amawurotualu #canon #peacecorpsweek

11 years after we finished service, the @PeaceCorps #Moldova crew reunited in Puerto Rico this weekend. It felt like just yesterday we were arriving in country as strangers. There is something special about this shared experience! #RPCV #Family #HaiNoroc @PCThirdGoal http://bit.ly/2MQwttp | September 02, 2019 at 01:53PM

I made hummus in the village. My counterpart liked it so much she went to get more vegetables 🥕🥒 🍅 #pcthirdgoal
I bought vegetables for the first time in my market (22 months in) and I used a laundry bag instead of a plastic bag. Curious eyes and laughter all around. I think I’ll buy something more often just to use the laundry bag and make a statement. 🤷🏻‍♀️ #plasticfreejuly
Maybe I’ll make French toast next weekend. Anyone want to join?

I'm a little late celebrating Peace Corps Week, but here's a shot of me learning how to bake traditional bread (khubz/aghrom) in Morocco at my neighbor's house - this family included me in Ramadan and all festivities with their warm hospitality. #pcw2017 @peacecorps #bread #thirdgoal #pcmorocco @pcthirdgoal

A Hidden Treasure of Mozambique
You never know what you're going to find in Mozambique when you start exploring. My site mate, Jesse, and I had heard of an old Italian Catholic cathedral about 10 km outside of town and decided to escape from Molocue Vila and have a little hiking adventure. You can imagine our surprise as we stumbled upon the stupendous sight of an enormous Cathedral built in 1959; complete with incredible artwork, including murals, stained glass windows and sculptures.
As we walked in, the Cathedral was basically empty except for a few Mozambicans walking around and a small group reading scripture in the corner. We spent about an hour strolling around the cavernous cathedral, taking a few pics and simply staring in awe at the artwork and general construction. Amazing that it took me until my 19th month in Alto Molocue to visit the most majestic structure in the district. I love that wonders like this exist in the most unexpected places, we just need to explore a bit and find them.

I love watching the neighborhood kids fly homemade kites and then take off into the depths of the barrios when the plastic string breaks at 100 meters out and the kite plummets into barrio oblivion.
