I Said this would happen and will only become more common. Women's soccer needs time, in the same way men's soccer took near one hundred years to have huge salaries. But one key point, as in the men's game, the salary to players isn't ever too much nor has to lead to trophies. foolish fans don't seem to realize, teams pay for players because they don't want them bought by others. It is called competitive wage. The AFC in various regions has offered competitive wages which is great cause too often, non uefa players get suckered into playing for teams in uefa who aren't offering a competitive wages. And comprehend, uefa for years offered the most competitive wages, which is why so many players went to uefa. Players from conmebol/caf/afc have never come to uefa on the same wage they can get in their home, no matter what asshole fans tell you about the notion of a club, like a barcelona.
USWNT star Naomi Girma joins Chelsea in first million-dollar transfer in women's soccer history The center back officially joined Chelsea after three years in San Diego By Sandra Herrera
U.S. women's national team defender Naomi Girma is the first million-dollar transfer in women's soccer history. San Diego Wave FC and Chelsea FC announced their deal on Sunday as Girma is now part of the London giants, taking her skills abroad.
It is the most expensive transfer fee we've seen, and not uncommon for Chelsea FC, the English side have made headlines and set previous records for players in the transfer market. Denmark forward Pernille Harder ($355k) was recruited in 2020, and Colombia forward Mayra Ramirez ($542k) signed with the club last year. Harder is now with Bayern Munich and Ramirez recently earned EFE Latin American Women's Player of 2024.
Girma was introduced to Chelsea fans on Sunday ahead of the Blues match against Arsenal. She sported a new Chelsea kit with the number 16, joining the club where U.S. women's national team manager Emma Hayes was for over a decade before taking the USA job.
"I'm so happy and really excited to be here. It doesn't feel real," Girma said in club statement. "There are a lot of things about Chelsea that made me want to come here — the culture, the winning mentality, staff and players. It's a top environment to learn and grow in. Right now, that's what I'm looking to do. It was an easy choice for me."
She was the No. 1 pick in the 2022 NWSL Draft by San Diego and during her time with the Wave won NWSL Rookie of the Year and Defender of the Year, won the 2023 NWSL Shield, and made two playoff appearances. The center back joins Chelsea fresh off a 2024 Olympic gold medal where she played every minute of the tournament and led a U.S. defense that conceded just two goals across six matches to secure the gold medal. In 2023, she was named U.S. Soccer's Female Player of the Year.
Girma's new contract with Chelsea will run through 2029.

U.S. Women's Team Looks to Secure Second Place at U-20 Women's World Cup
Tumblr media
The United States and Paraguay, both three points behind Spain, which is already in the round of 16 of the U-20 Women's World Cup, will play for second place in Group C this Saturday at the Techo stadium in Bogotá.
The American players and the Albirrojas left the city of Cali, where they played their first two matches, and where both lost to Spain and beat Morocco. And this Saturday they will decide whether to move to the club of the top 16 at the altitude of Bogotá.
The United States, three-time champions of the tournament, are ahead of Paraguay on goal difference and will secure a spot in the second round in the event of a tie.
A draw will be enough for Paraguay to qualify as one of the best third-placed teams.
For background, the United States and Paraguay have faced each other once, with the Stars and Stripes team winning 6-0 in the group stage of the 2018 tournament.
Spain and Morocco, meanwhile, will play the other group match in Cali, in which the Iberians will seek to close this first phase with a full nine points and confirm their good form in the World Cup against a rival that is bottom without any points and will need a miracle to have a chance of reaching the knockout phase.
Venezuela plays everything against Nigeria
Venezuela and Nigeria will play this Saturday at the Pascual Guerrero stadium in Cali for qualification to the round of 16 of the U-20 Women's World Cup in Colombia in the last day of Group D, in which Germany will be the referee for South Korea at the Techo stadium in Bogotá. Read more

Hey do you know what year this video was taken? I’m assuming late 2015 because of how young they look but I’m not sure.
I'm pretty sure it's 2015. There is a video of it on Youtube. It's in one of those old Ussoccer vids.
Shoutout to this video that i found while searching for the video btw. This just screams baby Tobin going, they woke me up from my nap for this but it's with Cheney so ig i will cooperate.

Well, the prolbem here is the same with women's soccer [ https://rmfantasysetpieces1.tumblr.com/post/756838923404279808/but-that-isnt-how-salaries-work-again-somewhere ] FIFA is a beautiful organization because it allows true freedom. No one is blocking any club in the year 2024 from paying men and women equally immediately, no one. FIFA doesn't need to demand anything. If clubs want to they can, that is why fifa has more members than the united nations. the united nations stems from the desires of the usa. FIFA was built to be decentralized, the uefa countries who started it didn't want one to be in control and that has led to an organization where all FA's are free and that includes USSoccer.
Freddy Adu offers no solution but judges negatively. Get in the USsoccer bureuacracy and spend forty to fifty years to change it, that is nonviolent action, that is what an elected official governent is, a long haul for a few steps.
But comprehend, nothing is stopping any club in the usa from having any development system they want , nothing. Own a club Freddy, own a team, run it the way you want, there is your answer.
But all these calls are really about a policeman coming in and demanding things and FIFA is built better than that.
FA's have control over their domains, this allows FIFA to exist when wars reside, when countries are violent or antagonistic with each other. There is a reason confederations are built the way they are, to keep civility in the worst of times. FIFA nor Concacaf is built to change USSoccer, but USSoccer can be changed from within.
IF you love USSoccer or the USA so much, get in the bureaucracy and get to work, it will take decades to do a little.

Today was a bad sports day. All my fav teams didn’t get the win and I had to read that Trinity article 😭
yeahh i feel you homie 😔 and as far as the trin article im taking what she said with a grain of salt bc to me it was a very blanket statement and i do think us soccer has some influence over what players say regarding the korbin situation but it definitely wasn’t a good read
and we all know about her previous anti vaxerness and misinformation spreading and other right wingerness which is very similar to mal so like i feel like i cant be surprised if thats actually how she that its just difference of opinion bc thats just not how things work when the difference of opinion is homophobia/ transphobia and spreading the harmful rhetoric that jesus will save you from being gay
all and all its extremely disappointing but ussoccers has been extremely disappointing soo
