working on a queen b mc right now. her first name is Kohime (meaning "little princess", yes i picked it on purpose - she has a fairly princessy personality [a 75-25 between disney and spoiled, think Amber from Sofia the First] and she also leans a bit into princess aesthetics as a gal. she also wants to prove that she's not just a little princess, she's a queen) but i don't know whether her last name should be Hinata-Hughes, Hughes-Hinata, or if i should headcanon it as just Hinata
she's a trans girl but hides it from everyone but Zoey, she knows how Belvoire is, they'll either bully her or fetishize her relentlessly. i haven't decided if or when she reveals it. i also haven't decided on her sexuality in terms of what genders she's attracted to, but she's definitely demisexual. her love interest is Zoey, but i chose Ian on purpose so she can call him the fuck out for constantly pursuing his student he knows is into girls 😭
for my first playthrough i kept the embarrassing hometown name as Farmsville because i honestly couldn't come up with anything else, but she was actually born and raised in Osaka and moved to the US about 4 years prior to the beginning of the story so she could start her transition. (wait, so if her embarrassing hometown is somewhere in Osaka and she only transitioned after moving to the US, then what am i gonna do about the hog calling video issue? either they aren't gonna think it's her or they'll bully her even harder because two of her secrets got spilled at once)

Because PB sure loves giving MCs catty rivalries with female characters! 🙃
(I was gonna include more but I feel like the line between rival and full-on villain would get blurry, so I'm putting it in your hands)
#playchoices#I may not like all of these characters but literally as long as it's not Poppy whatever. I think Jaylen's my fave of these though#idk if she'd count so I didn't include her as an option outright but Michelle from ES was clearly written to be the catty rival to MC#but since I got a good relationship going with her right away she's my MC's bestie and was even her MOH#unconquered queries

Top 10 characters that should've been LIs
(I'm stealing this idea from @jerzwriter 😁😘)
Han (AME): I do like Mackenzie, but ugh... it's such a waste of time to make a character as handsome as he is and not give him at least a tiny story. And several flings with MC... Just saying... 😏
Horatio (LH): Before Ben showed up, every time I played LoveHacks I was annoyed Horatio wasn't romanceable. Why did PB make a character so adorable and never let the players romance him?
Renza Fiero (TRM): Yeah, she's evil and a backstabbing traitor who romanced one of the most stupid villains on Choicesverse. But I loved her 🤷
Harper Emery (OpH): Well, here's a power imbalanced romance I'd gladly play. She's beautiful, powerful, competent and more interesting than most characters in the entire series;
Teagan (AME): Again, why did PB make a character so sweet and never let the players romance her? I don't get it;
Ruby Webster (CoP): I like Trystan more than I ever expected to like a LI from a single LI book. But when I first started playing Crimes of Passion, I was upset I couldn't romance Luke. Then I changed my mind and wanted to romance Ruby lol. She is pretty, sweet, smart, doesn't date much. My MC would gladly date her;
Luke Watanabe (CoP): If Crimes of Passion was a multiple LIs book, I'd definetely choose his route. Even if I changed my mind later, I think he'd still be worth romancing;
Carter Jackson (QB): I swear I thought he would be a LI when I started playing Queen B. Such a disappointment...
Robin (TNA): I only played until chapter 6 (I think...), but I remember MC talking and having much more fun with them than with Sam. I know they hooked up with Sam's fiancée, but I liked them. And btw, they're prettier than Sam;
Xanthe (ACOR): I'm not an enemies to fuckbuddies lovers enthusiast, but once again I fail to understand why PB created a gorgeous and intriguing character like her if the players can't even have a fling with her.

Thank you for assuring me I'm not the only one finding QB problematic (I hate it), Zoey sidelined and the "human sacrifice) (I didn't romance anyone bc Carter is the only one I'd romance but I picked two diamond choices for Zoey) the whole dating a professor (even though I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the male sprite but I'd rather lose my progress than romancing a TEACHER), Book 2 being about saving Kingsleys' (Ian/Ina) asses despite THEY'RE ADULT plus Poppy being uwuified at some points despite her acts are just not it which Chelsea the writer stated
Yes all of this!! Like it was a fun book to read but it was definitely problematic (which isn’t saying much since many of PB’s books are). I agree Carter should’ve been made an LI! It really does feel like they had originally planned for it to be a single LI book but added Zoey last minute since they didn’t want backlash about the student-teacher relationship
Also yes book 2 being about saving Ian/Ina despite the fact that they’re a grown ass adult while the MC is still at uni. Yeah the uwufication of Poppy I truly did hate especially because she was an adult who made terrible choices and was overall an incredibly shitty person who shouldn’t have been infantilized
I’m so glad you agree with me on this! Like I love QB for Zoey because she was the first female LI I ever romanced so she has a special place in my heart but the book definitely had some major issues

I don't care if people enjoy books like UT or Surrender or WB or TNA, or if they enjoy LIs like Poppy or Bastien or Kieran or Sam or Reagan. I DO care when people try to defend the problematic writing.
Liking TNA doesn't mean you're okay with cheating. Liking Bastien doesn't mean you're okay with kidnapping. Liking Reagan or Surrender doesn't mean you're okay with predatory behaviors. Liking FCL doesn't make you a misogynist. Heck I enjoyed TCH and the development of Kieran and MC's relationship, but that doesn't mean I liked how Kieran kidnapped and abused the MC, nor does it mean I am okay with kidnap and abuse IRL.
The problems arise when people try to say stuff like "Reagan grew as a character" or "Surrender empowered the MC through her sexuality" or any takes that try to act like these blatantly toxic LIs have healthy relationships with the MC. Again, I enjoyed how Kieran and MC's relationship developed in TCH, but by no means would I call it a healthy relationship. I'm all for "everyone's entitled to their own opinion", but there comes a point where some people are just... probably reading a completely different story.
And while I firmly believe in "fictional tastes are not inherently representative of IRL beliefs", I also have major issues with how PB handles problematic content.
Firstly, PB is a fairly large company that professionally publishes this content, as opposed to darkfic writers on sites like AO3 who are independent writers. So we can hold them to a much higher level of responsibility when they're pushing these toxic relationships and stories that are loaded with misogynist tropes. Especially when it happens so frequently and with very little variation.
Second, PB is crap at acknowledging what they write is toxic. AO3 has tags and archive warnings for a reason, so that you can avoid fics with triggering or "problematic" portrayals. But PB seems to hate that for some reason. They think WB needs a trigger warning for the MC being a bisexual furry, but not for the LIs being possessive and one of them kidnapping the MC? They somehow think a "this book has mature themes" should be enough to prepare us for an LI acting predatory to MC on day fucking one. Only twice have we ever gotten a specific content warning: QB for "the option to romance a teacher" and TCH for "BDSM practices that are not healthy or safe IRL". And even those didn't prepare us for the teacher romance being forced onto us or for the kidnapping and straight up abuse from Kieran.
So basically. If you wanna like books and LIs with toxic stuff, no one's stopping you. But you should also be able to acknowledge the blatantly existing problems with how PB handles these books and LIs.

August Choices Insiders Tidbits

I am so excited for this!! Finally a book for the gays! 🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈

Sounds like another book that's gonna annoy me. Maybe if it doesn't take itself seriously like QB, it could be good but if it's too serious it's gonna be a mix of Filthy Rich and Save the Date.

So Plus One is going to be goc. That's literally all it has going for it imo lol

They could just give us a hint about Bitten and I'd be happy

PB....wtf is this? No hint about any other books besides this dumbass spinoff??
#choices#pixelberry#playchoices#Very lackluster and disappointing insiders#The only thing I learned#Was that Plus one was goc#Wish it was pronoun of choice too#Aou#All of us#plus one#PO#TF#terror fest#blades 3#Rwb#rivals with benefits

Okay let's see...
Austin x Mandy Untameable spinoff: I actually wouldn't mind this, weirdly enough. Mandy ended up being the only likeable character despite being close to PB's stereotypical "OMG girly girl talk best friend who only exists to talk about your LI with you". And as much as I hate Austin I find both him and Mandy far more interesting characters than Kit and MC.
Another 3 TRR books: I haven't played past TRR 1 and even I know this is one of the last series that should get a continuation.
Witness from Cassian's POV: IDK what's more painful. Having to be that MC, or having to be with that MC.
FCL sequel where new MC steals Lino's wife: NOPE NOPE NOPE I WANT THIS FRANCHISE DEAD. Yknow I'm surprised you didn't say "MC steals Lino from his wife".
MTFPS: That sounds like what the remaining two thirds of MTFL would have been if it was made today and no one had complained about the lack of female LI and also if no one complained about the gratuitous straight-outta-Wattpad smutty themes.
RCD but MC acts in Maxwell Beaumont's movies: Haven't played enough of TRR to have an opinion on this.
Another Profession Affair: I'd rather be stuck on an island with Benji from QB and Brian from HSS.
Surrender but exclusively Reagan's POV: Like that would change how horribly botched up Surrender's writing and message is.
QB but you're the professor: Could be more awkward but doesn't seem nearly as aggravating as any of the other POV swap ideas here.
Diamond choices must be repurchased each playthrough: At least I'm getting 101 diamonds per day now. And the only books I replay are faves like HSS, so it's worth it. Anything for Aiden.
Verdict: Either the Untameable one, the QB one, or the Diamonds one.

Who are 10 characters you wished were LIs?
Well, characters that I myself would like as LIs because I'm really intrigued by their dynamic with MC and the potential that there is in a romantic relationship are Dan and Noah from ILitW, though that would only make me more indecisive because that book had some really great LIs already.
Characters that I liked that I would have considered romancing (because the options provided weren't stellar to me) would be Axton from DS and Carter from QB.
A character I would like to see become a proper LI but possibly wouldn't personally go for (because I prefer the canon options) would be Aerin from Blades, just because I'm intrigued by the potential of a dark route (not a redemption route) even though I doubt PB would do that.
And finally, I would like to romance Wes in HSS (and maybe even let Julian be an option since I liked him in the book much more than I did in the HSS app). I had Wes as my MC's LI in the HSS app and I would prefer for him to be with her, but if the book's just gonna disregard that possibility by having him (and also Julian) be dating and/or heavily crushing on Autumn while HSS app MC canonically exists in the Choices book, then he might as well be dating my HSS book MC instead. So altogether I don't quite make it to ten, but it's because while there are so many characters whose sprites I much prefer over the actual LIs' sprites or books in which I didn't like the LIs so I would have taken just about any out, that doesn't equate to thinking there is genuine romantic potential with the MCs, and this list isn't even going into characters that should probably have been LIs for other people, such as characters to even out the male to female ratio of a book. While I'm here, though, Kyra should have definitely been an LI in OH provided that her route only properly got going after she stopped being MC's patient.
#update: LMAOOOO @ what I said ab Aerin back then. He is now the superior Blades LI to me.#ask#answered

The fact that they only mentioned Zoeys outfit and not her personality or what we could expect from her in book 2 and that she wasn't none of the writers favorite REALLY says alot like I'm honestly worried because Zoey is my LI and I really hope they don't push her to the side for Poppy and Ian/Ina like they did in book 1

so during book one i made a playlist for ina x mc (from ina’s perspective) which some of you may remember and i’ve just recently updated it so it fits with their relationship in book two a little more; it would mean a lot if you could give it a wee listen/like because i am rather proud of it <3
