I feel like Tik Tok is filled with people pleasers. Especially editors that’ll edit a “controversial” ship.

And like if you see an edit of your favorite ship, in the captions OP is like “I DO NOT SHIP THEM ONLY IN A PLATONIC WAY, PEOPLE WHO SHIP THEM ARE WEIRD” or “THIS IS NOT A SHIP EDIT” but then they still like comments of people sayin they like them as a ship and comments saying that they don’t ship them.

Like they never actually pick a side.

And the comments are all like, “ahh my favorite PLATONIC ship” I ship them only “PLATONICALLY” “My favorite FRIENDSHIP” and if the edit is a bit suggestive they say “Best found SIBLING duo”

I've seen this scene of Nalini telling Devi that she'll find someone who loves her exactly as she is, used to portray either Ben or Paxton as not accepting her for who she is, when in reality, they both do. That's why Devi thinks of them both in 3 x 10 when she she's reflecting on how she already fits in. Neither of them is flawless (nor do they see Devi as flawless), but they do accept her for who she is. There is no need to pretend that one of them doesn't accept her for who she is, just to say that the other is superior. Regardless of whether their feelings are romantic or platonic, both of them do adore Devi for who she is.

How Devi and Paxton could have happened

I actually think if they had wanted to, they could have written an ending for Devi and Paxton that wasn’t weird. But that would have required them to acknowledge the obnoxious elitism in the way people think about colleges in that if it isn’t an Ivy League school, it sucks. Or that if you don’t go to college right out of high school, you are somehow an idiot. Or that if you are an average student, you don’t deserve school. 

They could have had Devi not get into Princeton and take time to really think about where she wanted to go. And what she wanted to do with her life and base it on that. Devi is great at school, but she doesn’t seem to know what she wants to do yet and that is never really mentioned.  

 It’s kind of implied that Devi’s family is okay financially, but an Ivy league education is still EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE. They could have shown her taking time off, volunteering or going to India even or just traveling in general and had her re-apply to other schools. And maybe she applies to ASU because they have an online program, and she can go anywhere or go to school at the campus. 

But she decides to go to the campus and ends up meeting Paxton again and they’re able to try and date without the pressures and expectations of their high school identities getting in the way. I understand the Ivy League is seen as “the best” but realistically, not every student is going to apply to the Ivies for a lot of reasons that’s just the easiest way to show someone is smart on tv. But it also kind of implies that if you don’t get into an ivy league, somehow you are less than. Even though getting into a university is actually a pretty big deal regardless of the school. 

And while I do like Devi and Ben, and I don’t mind the ending, I think it could have been cool to explore the other end of education by having make Devi make different choices while coincidentally having Paxton involved. 

My guess is they didn’t want to make Devi seem like Felicity, going to college for a guy. But it’s all about perspective. Devi getting into the school of her dreams and her long-time crush is the dream, so they’ve got to go with that, right? But on the other hand, exploring new dreams found after getting out of high school is also an interesting take too.

“Are people talking about me being slutty again? Is that how you heard?” Her voice quivered just a little and Paxton wanted to hug her. Instead he shook his head. 

“I…I just…” he stopped, trying to think of the right thing to say. “I overheard Trent and Eleanor. It’s none of my business, you’re right. Nobody else knows. No one is talking shit. Except me. I guess. I’m pretty pissed at Ben Gross. But I have no right. I know that.”

My Daxton Fanfic Ideas - Because we need more

So I am a writer and I’ve never really written fanfic before. So because I’m obsessed with Never Have I Ever and have ideas I thought I would share them so everyone can enjoy! Feel free to work on anyone you want. Just tag me I want to see what y’all come up with. Ok here we go

• 3x08 what if Paxton and Devi got to continue their conversation and play trivia?

• Also 3x08 centric what if it was Paxton and Devi that caught Des friend with the racket?

•Cute nicknames is Tamil/Japanese for each other and they find out what they mean

• Paxton finds out about the crush from 3rd grade

• Paxton going to Devi orchestra concert/ Devi going to swim meets

• Pati finding out about Daxton but they don’t know and keeping their secret

• Pati adoring Paxton in general

• Sick fic! One taking care of the other when their sick

• Them having a conversation where they learn more about each other

• Devi meeting Paxton’s grandfather

• Devi spending time with Paxton’s grandfather

• Paxton spending time with Pati/Kamala

•Devi hanging out with Rebecca

• Devi going to visit Paxton at ASU

• Paxton visiting Devi at Princeton

• Comforting the other when they’re sad

• Devi and Paxton get back together during college and navigate long distance

• Devi and Paxton nightly FaceTime calls during college

• Fluff about them in any and all forms

• Them figuring out what to do when Devi decides to go to law or medical school (they found each other again in college)

That’s all I got for now, these can be post canon, during, AU , doesn’t matter I just really love these ideas and want to see more fic for these two!

Oh also I would love to see these prompts include Eleanor,Fabiola, Trent,Ben, aneesa And of course, Paxton and Devi’s families but whatever comes to mind is cool.
