Press photo of Lady Louis Mountbatten and her daughter, Patricia.
OTMAA's cousin Louis Mountbatten, son of their mother's sister Victoria, married the wealthy and beautiful Edwina Ashley on 18 July 1922. Their first child, Patricia, was born on 14 February, 1924, followed by sister Pamela on 19 April, 1929. You can see clearly the edits the newspaper made prior so that it would look better when printed. They've gone over mother and daughter's features with pen and outlined them so they didn't blend in with the background.

Daughter of Empire: My Life as a Mountbatten by Lady Pamela Hicks #RoyalFamily #BookReview
The #AudiblePlus catalog had several books on the #royalfamily included with membership, so I am making my way through them. #DaughterofEmpire #MyLifeasaMountbatten is about #PrincePhilip's cousin, #LadyPAmelaHicks #LouisMountbatten #memoir #audiobook
Few families can boast of not one but two saints among their ancestors, a great-aunt who was the last tsarina of Russia, a father who was Grace Kelly’s pinup, and a grandmother who was not only a princess but could also argue the finer points of naval law. Pamela Mountbatten entered a remarkable family when she was born at the very end of the Roaring Twenties. As the younger daughter of the…

3 Nov. 1923 - Crown Prince Gustaf Adolf and Lady Louise Mountbatten married in the Chapel Royal at St. James's Palace in the presence of George V and members of both royal families.
Before the wedding, the Swedish media lively debated whether Lady Louise was of the same status as the Crown Prince or if she was a commoner. On Oct. 27, Sweden and Britain signed the "Treaty between Great Britain and Sweden for the Marriage of Lady Louise Mountbatten with His Royal Highness Prince Gustaf Adolf, Crown Prince of Sweden." The treaty stated, in part, that the marriage would be celebrated in London and duly authenticated, that the couple's financial settlements would be expressed in a separate marriage contract, which was declared to be "an integral part of the present Treaty", and that the two nations' ratifications of the treaty would be exchanged in Stockholm, which formally occurred Nov. 12.
The marriage between Louise and Gustaf Adolf was by all accounts a love match and described as very happy. Naturally, Louise became stepmother to Margareta and Gustaf Adolf's children, though she didn't become a new mother to them; instead, she was referred to as "Aunt Louise". Her mother-in-law also liked her because of her friendly nature, although they seldom saw each other, as Queen Victoria spent most of her time in Italy.
The fact that the Queen spent most of her time abroad meant that Louise took on many royal duties from the beginning, which was initially hard for her as she was described as quite shy. After the Queen died in 1930, Louise was officially the first lady of the nation, expected to perform all the duties of a Queen twenty years before she officially became Queen.

I asked recently about an illegitimate child scenario (admittedly I was on a bit of pain meds and forgot I asked LOL) and just now remembered to go look at the answer LOL. Anyway, thanks for answering and being your normal amazingly informed self. I did just have a weird follow up though. If the parents were married after the child was born and the royal father was given a dukedom, could the title be created with language to pass it to the first born child, no matter of legitimacy or gender? Thinking about how DoE reverts to the crown in this current creation gave me the thought.
Lol it was very coherent for pain meds. I remember when my dad had surgery and he sat in a corner like a zombie for ages lol. Anyway, the answer is buried in my very long explanation but I'll highlight it for you:
"The way a title is inherited is stated at the time of the title’s creation and cannot be changed after the fact. So for example Lord Mountbatten only had daughters so when the Earl Mountbatten of Burma title was created it said that it would pass to his eldest daughter and then her lawful heirs (additional note that wasn't in the original: the change was just for his daughter Patricia so after her death inheritance went back to men only). So I suppose there probably isn’t anything legally to stop a title from being created and the Letters Patent saying “it goes to this illegitimate child”... but it would be unprecedented to my knowledge in the modern era and highly context dependent."
The Letters Patent which are used to award titles are actually regulated, there's a rule book with the exact language which should be used. However it does say that it can be varied "as required for the insertion of special remainders or any special grants" by command of the monarch. So yes, theoretically that could be done. But it would be a bit of a headache as I mentioned in the last ask. For Mountbatten it was basically stopping the title becoming extinct because he had no sons but it was phrased so that if he did have a miracle son that son would still get it. Whereas your situation is a little different, potentially, and I think would just be a bit of a headache all around. So I think they'd much rather people just used contraceptives lol.

June 1950, Princess Elizabeth is godmother to Michael-John Knatchbull, 2nd son of Lord and Lady Brabourne.
Would that make The Queen 7 months pregnant with Anne?
The son of John Ulick Knatchbull, 7th Baron Brabourne and Lady Patricia Mountbatten, Michael-John is related to the royal family. His mother, who was also known as Countess Mountbatten of Burma, was Prince Philip's first cousin. Michael-John sat for a portrait with his mother and siblings that is now on exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery. He has been married twice and has two children; his eldest daughter, Kelly, is Princess Anne's godchild.
